Wow!
They are two different guys. One left the band and one didn't, different names too. Amazing stories. Reminds me of what Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes.
Yep!
Nothing new under the sun. This is just a modern day implementation of Eugenics.
"ALERT! RAPTURE MARCH 25, 2012 8:00 AM CENTRAL TIME!"
Well, now I know when the rapture certainly won't take place.
Cell phone is church.
One church’s light hearted attempt at curbing interruptions during the service
I wish he would have said, "Yes, it is a sin, this is not my opinion, it is what God has stated many times in His Word and it is His opinion that matters, not ours."
Yep...
Ears tickled.
Excel,
I think the way they handled this "restoration" was completely unbiblical.
I think they have quite a few things messed up in their church starting with some fundamental theology.
I visited their website and couldn't even find a statement of faith.
I am not really shocked by how they handled this because of some of the things they believe.
That is great news Tenac!
That Jesus is the Christ, born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died for our sins as a perfect sacrifice, rose again after 3 days and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father and who will return to earth to rule and reign for 1000 years before establishing the eternal state. I also believe that salvation is found in no other, Jesus is the only way.
Nope, I was asking them if that is what they believed.
Wait, all of that exploded out of something smaller than a atom with no cause or purpose. If you disagree you are just ignorant of science. LOL!
Some verses for illeagle2
Acts 4:11-12
11 “He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone.
12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Galatians 1:8-9
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
Thanks excel, I was unaware of this. I will give it a shot.
I assume you approve? Please confirm.
excel,
I would PM him but I don't have the ability since I don't pay to play here. I didn't get the feeling that he was like many of the other atheists I have encountered as he was respectful of your board rules and your reasons for not letting him post there.
If you don't want the discussion to take place here, that is fine too. I don't believe people cross our paths by accident, I am sure you don't either.
So if he was willing to have a reasonable and polite discussion, I wouldn't mind engaging him to discuss our different world views and faiths. Whatever you decide is fine, he would need to agree as well of course.
Pathetic
excel,
I wouldn't mind having a dialogue with Rich over here if he is interested in a reasonable and polite discussion.
Are you a Christian who puts their faith in Jesus and His sacrifice as the only way to be saved?
All I can say is you sure give some people a long leash. You are free to believe what you want, I don't agree. Peace.
I am not setting a time and date, she did.
This is her title, not mine.
Word of the Lord 2010
Mankind has free will and we are responsible for our actions. God used Hitler to re-establish the Jewish nation as He promised He would do. His ways are higher than our ways. What was meant for evil and was evil, He used for good to further His plan. A time will come when He will bring everything into judgment and evil will be destroyed, but He is patient because He wants all to be saved.
I didn't and still don't see a lot of the stuff she predicted we would see in 2010. The rest is just informed deduction, which I am capable of as well, but I am not a prophet. It is like saying that if you don't get off the train tracks, you are going to get killed.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who are in church to have their ears tickled and too many churches willing to accomodate them.
I don't know, is there a reason I should?
Does that mean you agree or disagree with the fact that he doesn't teach WHY we need a Savior?
I agree. Since you are familiar with her, I was asking you to provide evidence that she is a prophetess. What specific prophecies has she made that came true and were proven to be accurate and not attributable to something obvious or a good guess?
I realize you read her book and that she has been doing this for a long time, I require more evidence than that. I am just very cautious about these type of people and I urge you to be as well.
Ok, but what makes you believe she is a modern day prophetess? Joel Olsteen has a huge congregation and writes lots of books but refuses to preach the truth about sin and WHY we need a Savior.
toddao,
I am not being judgmental here, but as Christians we are to be discerning, especially where prophecy is concerned. Although I agree with the sentiment of what she said about our need for repentance as a nation and that we need to stand by Israel, what are her credentials in claiming to be a modern day prophetess who is chosen to communicate the thoughts of God to this generation?
Has she ever made any specific prophecies that were exactly fulfilled or found to be in error?
The "prophecy" you quoted strikes me more of a set of obvious observations contained in flowery language.
I did a quick Google search on her and she has said that the massive bird deaths that were seen were because Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed.
Of course not, I am saying there are other fiscally conservative candidates that have a much more sane view of foreign policy that I prefer over him.
Too bad he is terrible on foreign policy.
I love C.S. Lewis.
Keep praying too!
Ok, now we are getting somewhere. Can you go back and answer my questions about circumcision?
Please stop skimming posts and go back and read them. We have already stated that we agree that the Bible, ALL of it, is our source for Truth. We have taken the time to try and reason with you from the Scriptures and cited many. Thank you for admitting you didn't take the time to read and consider them, it explains a lot about the content of your responses.
E,cellent observation! Just like the post asserting I hadn't cited any Scripture to support my position.
According to the OT Law, you need to sacrifice animals to cover your sins. Since I don't believe you do that I must ask, why not? Are you taking away from the Law?
Larimar,
I never said Jesus ate pork and I agree he couldn't because He is the One who could and had to fulfill the Law.
I don't think you understand the New Covenant that He established, which is why you refuse to answer my direct and simple questions about circumcision.
I agree we should let this conversation drop since you refuse to answer some simple questions regarding your view.
I am glad you had a safe trip.
Shalom
Wow! You must not be reading my posts. Your post is absurd.
As is typical of drive by legalists, they ignore direct answers, fail to cite Scripture, fail to address Scripture presented to them and then assert that they won the debate and leave.
Of course the Bible is my standard, which is why I cited many, many Scriptures to discuss your point of view, but you ignored them all.
That is all I need to know.
Have a safe trip.
Thanks excel, unfortunately that is yet another verse that will be completely ignored. You just don't know how to read that with Jewish context I suppose.
Jeremiah 31:31
31 “The time is coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
Luke 22:20
20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.
2 Corinthians 3:6
6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Hebrews 8:7-13
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.
8 For finding fault with them, He says, “Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, When I will effect a new covenant With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
9 Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers On the day when I took them by the hand To lead them out of the land of Egypt; For they did not continue in My covenant, And I did not care for them, says the Lord.
10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, And I will write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, And they shall be My people.
11 “And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen, And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ For all will know Me, From the least to the greatest of them.
12 “For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And I will remember their sins no more.”
13 When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
Hebrews 9:13-28
13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh,
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
16 For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.
17 For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives.
18 Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.
19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.”
21 And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood.
22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
23 Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own.
26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.
Hebrews 12:24
24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
Larimar,
No, the issue is that you came to this board condemning people for celebrating Christmas and Easter or reaching out to the community offering alternative events instead of celebrating Halloween, making accusations that doing these things somehow added to the law, which is not the case.
I then asked you straightforward and direct questions that are easy for me to answer, but appear impossible for you to answer.
Instead of instructing us on why we are wrong through reason and discussion, you offer a repetition of assertions. It is not I who seek to argue about the Law, it is you who made judgmental remarks towards believers.
When offered specific Scriptures that seem to refute your position and when asked to interpret them given a Jewish context, you continue to refuse and ask your same questions all over again.
When you are ready to have a honest and intellectual theological discussion about these matters, let me know, because such discussions aren't a one way street like you seem to think they are.
You should eat some pork, it is really good and Jesus says it is OK to eat.
Mark 7:14-20
14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.
15 Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’ by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him ‘unclean.’”
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.
18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him ‘unclean’?
19 For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods “clean.”)
20 He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’
Shalom.
