How thoughtful of you! You were highlighting an important point. The fact that I briefly misinterpreted it, had nothing to do with you and everything to do with my wishful thinking.
You're correct. The message you are referencing was clear and very helpful. Subsequently another post referenced just number 3, which unintentionally could have been read as saying there 3 inside buyers.
Please don't take offense...i was trying to clarify a different post (also a helpful post).
I think he was referring to number 3 on the list of 4 highlights (posted earlier). I had the same initial confusion.
I meant to say "ask" price not bid.
Does that explain how my bid at .66 went through, even when bid price was at .68? I'm learning a ton as we go along.
The additional insider buying was the push I needed to throw a few more thousand into the mix.
Adding to Flash's response (#5464), I think that we'll also benefit if they drop the medical device tax that was supposed to be implemented this year or soon according to the ACA. In this case we're likely better off than if this were classified as a drug, especially with recent comments in that regard.
Am I wrong or did it just hit 70? (according to latest on Market Watch)..yoohoo!!
Also, it doesn't hurt to have known one of the principals for many years...you couldn't find a more honest, decent person or family.
I have to agree oneflew. Often we're told not to go with our "gut" feeling, but this is my one exception in 30+ years of investing. Although admittedly disappointed whenever the stock heads downward, I'm convinced this is a rare gem and the one and only chance in life of winning the equivalent of the lottery.
Thanks for doing the research. That sure fills in an important information gap. I couldn't believe we went through two runs higher and then back down within a six-month time frame. Just left me wondering...
Thanks for clarifying. : ) ....for a minute there I thought I might have offended with my comment. I do wish it would all happen more quickly, but believe patience will be the one virtue to come through for those of us who are "long" on this stock.
I'm holding on until we're bought out, whenever that is. If it's at $5, fine, but I'm not bailing until the proverbial fat lady sings.
Ignore the two ??...supposed to be a smiley emoticon.
Likewise and happy holidays to all!! Hopefully we'll have an extra reason to celebrate 2017 (or 2018, no matter, I'm not letting this baby go).
Thanks to all the board members' help this year (especially 21money and lakingphan) ??
My only question is whether to add a few thousand more shares at such a low price. Should I? Being new to this kind of stock purchase, my stomach and patience can only take so much.
I bought a small amount initially based on respect for one of the principals, and only added--and most gratefully so--after reading the insightful research of some board members.
I'm looking forward to our trip to Vegas, but am beginning to think the celebration might be a couple years from today, rather than 2017 (at least as far as the "real payday"). With that in mind, my mutual funds and index funds are starting to bore me to tears, yet they are the anchor holding me steady in my ARTH position.
There still seem to be loads of the stock being bought on the downturn...enough blue so that the red isn't quite as scary. What news you mentioned do you think will stop the slide?
Yoohoo!! Lakingsphan, you're the best.
Re. the ride on EXEL...loving it! I also just received a modest bonus at work, so I can add a few more shares.
At least I'm early to the UNXL ride, which surely looks promising.
(Now I'll stop kicking myself for ignoring your earlier notes highlighting the EXEL opportunity earlier this year.)
Great advice. I realized today that the difference between the ask and bid price on UNXL has narrowed by $5 since Friday (now only a few pennies difference, as one would expect). Must have been a temporary adjustment, which means I can add UNXL to my portfolio soon. :)
Did you buy UNXL even with the current spread, knowing it was a long-term investment (if you don't mind the question)?
Thanks Lakingsphan. I did already buy some shares of EXEL...wanted to buy more, but only had so much available cash to invest immediately.
Now I'm deciding whether to add some UNXL or add to my EXEL shares in the next couple of weeks.
I'm new to the concept of a stock with such a wide spread. I can't help but be concerned about "losing" $5/share right out of the gate. Your advice on ARTH and EXEL has been spot on...thus this question regarding your support for UNXL. I wonder if it still makes sense for me to purchase this stock given the spread.
Appreciate any advice!
Thanks, Lakingsphan. I'll check the other stocks as well. I've learned so much this year from you and some of the key posters on the ARTH board.
Very grateful.
Thanks, just curious.
I wonder why you are still even bothering with this stock given your persistent doubts.
Although not specifically about ARTH, many might appreciate reading this, and even better, watching the video on "cash burn" companies: http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/23/cash-burn-companies-not-always-bad-investments-professor-says.html
Hi all, tonight "Seeking Alpha" posted a decent article on the latest news for ARTH. Be sure to read the comments posted, since they are helpful as well...One mentioned the 41% figure would likely go up "considerably in a procedure with more bleeding, but 41% is still excellent."
GLTA...I'm long and need to buy a bottle of TUMs along with an earlier poster here today!
After hours looks like selling at .55...hang on or move on?
Whatever you're talking about Ahab, just please tell me it ended okay...
Are you sure it's up to .75? That's not what I see--a precipitous drop. Hope you are right!
What did the release mean? It wasn't clear.
This has been such a great learning experience. I'm definitely long ARTH and have plenty of shares at a very low cost thanks to many of the posters here.
Sure, I could have been more patient instead of accumulating additional shares at .88, but NO regrets whatsoever. I'm going long no matter what and recent drops don't bother me the same way when I first found this gem at .18.
Again, thanks to many of you. We'll take this ride wherever it goes...which will most likely be up, up, and away!!
I agree Black Bandit. I've had to avoid the buy button the last couple of days, lest I end up with all my eggs in one basket. It's incredibly tempting.
...I'm all over the place on this. Hope my friend is wrong and they'll be no "slaughter" for my greed.
After reading your post, I finally jumped again...another 17+K shares.
I better steer clear of casinos now that my gambling gene is expressing itself!
GLTA
Thanks lakingsphan0427. It helps to know that enough is enough. There's still risk, and I'll never forget a friend mentioned with regard to greed, "the pigs will be slaughtered." So I'll try not to get ahead of myself.
Because one of the principals was a childhood friend, I feel incredibly proud of him, even if we haven't seen each other in decades. This isn't just about my good fortune (although that helps), but also about fond memories of a wonderful person.
Thanks again 21money21...sounds like the perfect strategy and I'll start planning in case there's a dip.
If you don't mind my asking, are some of you still buying or just sitting back now and enjoying the ride?
Thank you guys!!! It's only because of you that I kept buying more shares. I'm still tempted to buy more tomorrow, but not sure my stomach can take it.
When the shorts and MM's come into play, I'll be sure to buy even more! Super helpful information...thanks so much!
Sorry I'm very green with individual stocks. Imagine, this is my very first stock after three decades of investing (added KMI for a short time, but bailed and used funds for more ARTH shares). Even with this incredible good fortune, this is likely the only individual stock I'll probably ever own outside of my mutual funds.
...and I'm not referring to a forced buyout of all shareholders, which is fine.
I just have a recollection of something other than that forcing some smaller players out...don't remember who mentioned it.
