Toamasina Autonomous Port or (French) Société de Gestion du Port Autonome de Toamasina (SPAT) is a Malagasy government body that governs and regulates the Indian Ocean port of Toamasina. The operation of the port has been contracted to Madagascar International Container Terminal Services (MICTS), a subsidiary of Filipino company International Container Terminal Services Inc.. Toamasina is Madagascar's primary cargo port.
Today's "road trip" will take DW & company back to the Port of Toamasina (Tamatave), that was highlighted in this recent PR:

Over a month has gone by since they have released anything that was relevant to the Project. They haven't even bothered to copy DNI's recent drilling update, like they did last time.
On the agenda today, in Madagascar:
DW et al. will be spending the bulk of the day at Vohitsara, and then driving back to Toamasina.
$DMNKF: Why a multi-market graphite strategy is important
One of the reasons why I bought this stock is that DW understands that a multi-market strategy - where several graphite juniors are in competition against each other, at the same time, in different markets - is critical to its long-term success.
I have been telling people for years, that always expecting Peter to subsidize Paul's purchase is a terrible business model.
Well, here you go:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-02/denmark-is-killing-tesla-and-other-electric-cars
http://nordic.businessinsider.com/teslas-sales-fell-a-jaw-dropping-94-in-denmark-last-year--and-elon-musk-could-see-it-from-miles-away-2017-6
As I have said in previous posts or email conversations, without subsidies, Teslas, all electric vehicles, and a host of other clean energy products are not that attractive.
Any wonder why Elon Musk has been throwing a lot of temper tantrums lately? He is more charlatan than genius, and intelligent enough to know that without all the "free government cheese" his companies receive, they are not competitive, and most likely insolvent.
This is a problem with buying a graphite (or lithium, or cobalt, or... whatever) junior company that has gone, or planning to go, "all in" the battery sector, and there are many.
Might make a good short to medium-term trade, but when (not if) other countries follow Denmark's paradigm, if they don't have another market to exploit... [POOF!]
You can divide the graphite sector into six, seven, or eight major markets, depending on your info source, and DW is planning to explore all of them, particularly the expandable, which I have already highlighted here:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=131576886
A few more pieces of information:
Bass Metals has recently published an expansion rate of 510 cm3/g (or ml/g), and NEXTSource/Energizer claims that theirs was tested over 500, so this bodes well for DNI and their future Vohitsara number.
With Chinese graphite falling mostly in the 250 to 300 range, anything close to the other Madagascar numbers should be a significant advantage.

Good morning gemstar66,
You just wait... when that road gets paved, it will be "tremendous". LOL!
It will probably never feel the weight of a truck with Molo graphite on it, but that shouldn't decrease its tremendousness.
Hey, I wish them all the best with their vanadium venture.
One less graphite competitor - especially from Madagascar - is a huge advantage for DNI, in the future.
Have a great weekend!

Some of you have me confused with IR. I do not speak on behalf of DW, but I also will not step on his toes, or stab him in the back.
The situation right now is extremely fluid, and both companies need to release news/updates to keep their shareholders properly informed. That is not my job.
You have two companies involved in three different countries, different hemispheres and time zones, and you expect the precision of an atomic clock?
DW told me that he had a lot of things to do before he left for Madagascar on Friday night, so there would be a NR early in the week.
But, if Cougar hasn't made its payment, he hasn't made a final decision on financing, is waiting on drilling updates from the field, etc., then there is nothing to release, is there?
You guys need to relax, and let things unfold in their own time frame.
In the mean time, here are a few topics that I feel comfortable talking about in a public forum:
1. From the 04/30 Cougar Quarterly Activities Report:

$DMNKF DNI Metals mentioned in Bob Moriarty article

$DMNKF DNI Metals Inc. Closes an Additional $238,809.35
http://www.newsfilecorp.com/release/27171/DNI-MetalsCloses-an-Additional-238809.35
Note: There should be another update early next week
Update on Private Placement & OS
DW is leaning heavily towards closing the financing early on (or around) June 07 - the same day that Cougar is scheduled to pay DNI US $ 150,000.
So, in the short-term, the outstanding and fully-diluted shares will be less than ~ 80M, and if more money is needed down the line, any financing will take place from higher prices.
If anybody is interested, or fence-sitting, this should be your last chance to buy units at CAD $ 0.065 with warrants at 0.10
You can contact DW directly, or send me a private message, and I can provide you with URLs to the forms and the wire transfer info.
Expect an update from the company early next week.
Trip to Madagascar begins on the 9th. I have a detailed itinerary, but I refuse to publish it, given all the BS that happened during the last trip.
Have a great weekend!

$DMNKF DNI Metals Inc: Expandable Graphite Market
If the Vohitsara preliminary results are confirmed next month, the expandable graphite sector (also known as: intumescent flake graphite) is a perfect fit for those 8,000 micron Super Jumbo, as well as all the Jumbo and Large flakes that (should) make up ~ two-thirds of the deposit.
Introduction
• Expandable graphite is a compound of graphite that expands or exfoliates when heated
• Manufactured by treating flake graphite with reagents (such as acid, that migrate between the graphite layers) and heat
• When heated (~1,000°C), it rapidly expands to several hundred times its original size (expansion ratio)
• The expansion ratio is the volume of expandable graphite produced per gram of graphite product at a specified temperature – measured in grams per litre (how many grams of graphite required to produce 1L of expandable graphite)
• In general, coarser flake graphite typically has higher expansion ratios than smaller flakes
• Not all graphite is expandable and some graphite expands at greater rates than others
• Unique properties of expandable graphite include high heat resistance, corrosion resistance, softness, compression resilience and radiation resistance
Expandable Graphite Opportunity
• Chinese and South Korean governments recommending use of flame retardant building materials in future building construction, driving strong demand for expandable graphite
• The market for flame retardant building materials is growing rapidly from a small, specialised sector. Future demand could exceed the battery sector
Expandable Graphite Products
Graphite Foil
• Key product manufactured from expandable graphite
• Widely used in high power LED, smart phones, LCD, tablets, laptops and other electronic products.
• High thermal and electrical conductivity draws damaging heat away from electrical componentry
• Highly workable, so that it can be cut into any shape and bent many times
• Produced by rolling and compressing expandable graphite into thin sheets
• Produced from high quality flake graphite possessing the following qualities:
• High purity (>95% TGC)
• Coarse flake size (+50 mesh / +300 micron or better)
• Good expansion rates
• Premium priced product selling for up to US$50,000 per tonne
• Demand growth directly linked to growth in demand for electronic devices
Graphite Paper
• Graphite paper (flexible graphite sheet) forms the basic material for manufacturing a number of products including sealing gaskets, graphite tapes, packing and reinforced graphite sheets
• Suitable for end uses due to high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and good elasticity
• Produced by rolling and compressing expandable graphite into thin sheets
• Graphite paper is produced from high quality flake graphite possessing the following qualities:
• High purity (>92% TGC)
• Coarse flake size (+80 mesh / +180 micron or better)
• Good expansion rates
• Graphite paper is a premium priced product
Flame Retardant Insulation foam/board
• Exponential demand growth expected for flame retardant building materials due to Chinese government recommendations for use in future construction –market size currently limited by supply shortage of quality flake graphite capable of expandability
• Adding expandable graphite to polystyrene foam:
• Improves the material’s thermal efficiency assisting with heat retention; and
• Provides the material with flame retardant properties
• Flame retardant insulation foam is produced from flake graphite possessing the following qualities:
• Lower purity required than other expandable graphite products (>85% TGC)
• Finer flake size is acceptable (+200 mesh / +75 micron or better)
• Reasonable expansion rates
• Flame retardant polystyrene insulation foam currently sells for US$2,625 per tonne
Expandable Graphite: From the Experts
• Independent third party expandable graphite pricing implies substantial upside to PFS pricing assumptions (implied US$1,577/t sale price)
• Environmental pressure on Chinese supply pushing up prices 5-20% in the last 12 months
• Certain flame retardants banned in EU from 2017 onwards – potential for increased demand for expandable graphite as replacement
Published Expansion Rates (mL/g)
• Kibaran: 490
• Magnis: 434
• Sovereign: 345
Keep in mind, that none of these three companies are currently in production. If DNI can get Vohitsara up and running within the next two years, and their expansion rates are similar, the advantage would be significant, to say the least.
DNI Metals: Size Matters, When it Comes to Graphite
https://www.provenandprobable.com/dni-metals-size-matters-comes-graphite/
Dan Weir, the Executive Chairman for DNI Metals sits down with Maurice Jackson of Proven and Probable to discuss the latest updates on the their flagship project called Vohitsara.
This interview is based on a site visit that was conducted 5-14 May 2017.
There are a number of highlights of particular interest for current and prospective shareholders!
First, Dan provides a brief narrative on the vast, expansive industrial uses of graphite and how the demand curve will only increase, due largely in part to the growing demand of lithium batteries.
We then shift the focus of the interview on the value proposition the DNI Metals as for speculators and its market advantages of becoming one of the lowest cost producers of graphite.
We provide an progress update the Vohitsara Project regarding roads, drilling, and trenching.
DNI Metals is in early stage exploration company with a unique added advantage of saprolite extraction, which truly reduces operating costs with the added benefit of being 45 mins. away from a major port.
Furthermore, we discuss the close and very critical relationship that DNI Metals has forged with the local community.
The entire community is embracing and exciting about the Vohitsara Project coming to fruition specifically under Dan Weir and DNI Metals.
Our site visit also covered meeting the Port Director and having an exclusive tour of the Port.
Also we met with Ministry of Mines which was very welcoming and accommodating to having DNI Metals fully permitted project continue to advance.
And finally, we address the first tranche of financing that was completed on 4 May and how DNI Metals plans to deploy their capital.
This is an action packing interview you won’t want to miss!

I have obtained a document from a third party (USA-based private company) that compares several samples of natural graphite, including one originating from Madagascar, and a few from China's Qingdao region.
I promised my contact that I wouldn't divulge any names, or make the document public, so he can't get in any trouble, but I can say that the tests were conducted at a SGS affiliated lab.
Graphite used was industry-standard +80 mesh (>/= 180 µm). Besides a LECO combustion analysis, to get an accurate graphitic carbon content (>/= 95%),
http://www.sgs.com/en/mining/analytical-services/geochemistry/carbon-and-sulfur/carbon-analysis-forms-of
Sodium Peroxide Fusion tests were run, similar to ICM90A here:
http://www.sgs.com/en/mining/analytical-services/geochemistry/digestion-and-fusion/fusion
to identify impurities, their content levels, etc., and the graphite from Madagascar tested excellent, with lower levels of contaminants across the spectrum.
This is not my opinion, but cold, hard scientific data that shows that DNI is in the right country to compete with anybody, including the Chinese, even at current prices.
Also, I am about to begin a new project that is going to take up a lot of my time, so I will be curtailing my message board activities.
If and when I have the time to post anything that is DNI-related, it will here, either first, or only.
Goodbye and good luck!
C28, after taking a look at the Shamokin & Ashland websites, I can easily envision DNI being part of a supply chain like this:
1. Automaker or Other Industry Manufacturer
2. Battery Manufacturer
3. Processed Graphite Supplier (GLK Partner)
4. Graphite Supplier (Great Lakes)
5. Graphite Wholesaler (DNI Metals)
6. Brazilian Graphite Source
Once Madagascar is online, you have the option to get rid of 6., which results in a combination of lower costs/higher price margins up the chain.
DNI by itself, with either the acquisition of PRO, and/or a central processing plant in Madagascar built to ISO or SGS standards, could move into the 3. spot, and maximize revenues by working with their own clients.
I could come up with many more scenarios, but once again, right now it's all theory and speculation, but it is a realistic vision.
Also, make note of all the industries that those companies serve, as well as their global reach through sister companies, network partners, etc.
The 60%+ jumbo & large flake at Vohitsara, and its potential SPG applications get all the "press", but as you are probably aware, most money in the graphite industry is made from medium, small, and fine grades, in what's seen as dull, boring and "unsexy" industries, like: foundries, steel plants, powder metallurgy, refractories, etc.
The importance of the other grades, and their usage in vital industries, should not be underestimated.
Have a great weekend,
Luke
C28, just between you, me, and the lamppost:
I have been told that both automakers and the "Giga" companies (Foxconn, LG, Samsung, and Tesla) are specifically looking for non-Chinese origin graphite that is (will be) processed in the USA.
Given the close relationship between DNI & GLK - along with their alliances - this does indeed put DNI somewhere in the picture frame, but how long it will take for these artists to complete this painting, and just exactly how prominent a place DNI has in it, I can only offer speculation and conjecture at this point, so I won't bother.

Thank you for the very kind words, C28.
As you are completely aware, research methodology is time-consuming enough for just one company. The GDXJ saga involves four to five dozen.
Besides, I don't have the experience in this sector (or penny stocks in general) that you & others here have. The primary reason I read this board is to learn a few new things.
Good luck, guys!
dr_airtime, thank you very much for your detailed plan.
Just what the doctor ordered!
Not familiar with most companies, except Perseus & First Mining Finance - owned them as FFMGF last year, and almost doubled my money in a few months. Keith's companies have been very good to me over the years.
If anybody is interested in their business model, here is a Back-Of-The-Envelope valuation:
FFMGF Price: US $ 0.45
Market Cap: $ 282.78 M
Gold Equivalent In-Situ: ~ 11.75 M oz.
AuEq/Share: 0.018698 oz.
AuEq Valuation: $ 24.07
Conservative PPS Target @ $ 35 to 40 AuEq = $ 0.6544 to 0.7479
Aggressive (Long Term) PPS Target @ $80 to 100 AuEq = $1.49 to 1.87
Add a "premium" for Silver Equivalent In-Situ of ~ 26.5 M oz.
(Last year's Conservative Target was right on the nugget, but that was last year...)
Cheers,
Luke
P.S. My pleasure, rrten!
