Where is the PR?
Most message boards are entertainment. What is different about this VirTra ihub message board is the fact that the company COB reads it. That is extremely uncommon. It is the only reason several of us post here.
Further, the themes several of us continually harp on are real. Obvious. True. And until recently, mostly ignored by VirTra leadership.
I still think the company suffers from a Sales Org mostly devoid of leadership and without even one exceptional sales person. The revenue number and rocky growth rate is proof. I also remain disgusted with the makeup and contributions (lack thereof) of the BOD. And a company unwilling and likely unable to provide forward guidance speaks volumes about their grasp/control of the business and whether or not it is investable.
But I still own some shares as I continue to see potential and believe the problems are easy to fix. They have made progress, especially since the Givens hire.
My fear is that if Q3 doesn’t come in over $10mil then it’s a sub $4 stock.
One problem is the macro market for tiny company stocks. It is the worst I have seen in 40 years.
Why buy VTSI when you can buy better companies and stocks at cheaper prices CEOs?
That said, VTSI sub $5 deserves a place in any portfolio.
Is Givens still CEO?
How would anyone even know the company still exists?
No PRs.
No insider buying.
No acquisitions.
No hiring of a Sales leader.
A stock that is falling from 8 to 7 to 6 to 5 to 4.
Would it kill these guys to put out something positive and uplifting?…or anything at all?
Maybe…..but maybe not. I think that more of this sort of stuff is no longer publicly available information. More and more expenditures and appropriations are being kept in the dark.
It take til end of October to know for sure.
Why can’t VirTra execs figure out how to buy shares? Ridiculous.
It’s like no one in the entire organization has a salesy or rah/rah bone in their body.
Top line matters more than bottom line. Revenue growth must accelerate. Once we see it happening we will know the Sales Org has been fixed.
New CEO? There is no new CEO.
Junk company, junk product.
Nice to see some good news on this front.
Even in this horrific August for small company stocks, I am surprised VTSI hasn’t risen well into 8s. Makes me wonder if the stock would be trading any differently if the last quarter was $7mil instead of $10mil.
CEO, cfo, cob…all should step up and each should make an open market buy of 10,000+ shares.
Right now is the time.
They just spilled their guts at conf call.
All big news is public.
Daily volume is high enuf to support.
You lost me on that post. I even just reread the PR, it was fine.
VTSI is $7 today rather than $10 simply because of the ugly ugly stock market right now. Every small company stock that had risen a bit in June/July is now going down, down, down. It’s been that way since about Aug 3rd. Just brutal.
VTSI stock will be fine and spectacular verses the market.
Good to see you post! One thing that will help Jlo is that his teammates seem to like him. The fans too. It is SO refreshing not to see Rogers out there.
I think you had mentioned Longboat Key to me. It does look special. FL prices are still a little crazy, but not sure they will ever fall much.
Not too late to again make money on Vtsi, I bet it trends up several dollars over the next few months. My Mom is 87, I have some of her $ in it.
Yes, there should be a big bump up in cash.
I just bought more shares.
The AR number will drop a bunch with the next report. It was explained (poorly) during the Q/A.
He simply moved to a more comfortable chair. Now he can focus on what he enjoys and is best at…..innovation, big picture, cto sort of stuff, etc. And Chairman of the Board is still a very powerful role.
By the way….last years Q3 had revenue of $4.9million. Will VirTra ever have another sub $10mil quarter? My guess is No.
Bookings in Q2 were $8.4million. This what the CFO stated during her portion of the cc. The complete transcript is on Seeking Alpha now.
I just read the cc notes and a few things made me happy.
1. Givens said Q3 was off to a strong start. That means something since it is now half over.
2. Ferris said how floored he was with what VirTra has accomplished and credited Givens. I think Ferris has now realized how even a single all star employee can be a game changer. My hope is he now understands the importance of surrounding himself with stellar people. If they can simply get one all star sales guy it will take the company to the next level.
3. Givens and Ferris focus on the sales org is now real, not just talk, they are doing the right things and understand what needs to be done. I liked the talk about incentives for salespeople and Givens certainly implied that a great sales guy who produces could now make a ton of money. Amen!
Feel really good about the company right now. I will need to stop being the frequent ahole.
I don’t know. The stock market is really tough right now, especially for small company stocks. Right now they still need to prove they have a good sales org AND they need to prove the military opportunities are real.
Taking everything into account, I’d say it should push $12 to $14 six to twelve months from now.
Yes! Drinking heavily in celebration.
Her last sentence begs the question….What are the targets for the year? I sure hope one of these clown analysts is smart enough to ask.
Impressive! Did not expect another 10mil quarter. Well done.
Well played! That was funny.
I consider owning VTSI to be penance for all the sins I have committed.
I am setting the over/under for how many times Ferris says “lumpy” in next weeks conference call. I’m going with 1.5.
I’m trying a proven time tested approach….that being ignorance is bliss!
Vtsi stock goes down the toilet yet again. When the CEOs refuse to buy, why should anyone else.
Well said. I’m not sure what to think about this quarter. I’d feel better with some sort of sales org update or some multimillion dollar order prs.
Year ago Q2 was $8mil. They must at least meet that number and they must crush the eps consensus of 6cents and/OR they must have a huge order intake number for the quarter. Without either of these, it will be a $4.50 stock in the blink of an eye.
Juggernaut.
EPS this year $3
Revenue 450mil
Market cap 30minutes
They just dumped Wagz…smooth sailing ahead. Target $20 to $25.
Relax!….moving takes time. They had to repaint cuz it was the wrong shade of teal. Then the mini blinds had to be RE measured because they were an 1/8inch too short. Worst of all the daily lunch catering service ran out of ranch dressing…..forced the whole building to go out to a restaurant.
I don’t like it. It is just another sign that Ferris continues to look backward and enjoys patting himself on the back a bit too much.
Have a party when you hit $100mil in annual revenue. Then another at $500mil.
Celebrate by rewarding top sales people.
Celebrate by courting top potential customers.
Don’t have a party simply to celebrate longevity.
I’m sure they justify this as a productive marketing expense and perhaps it will be. If there is a Ferris dunk tank, the line will be long.
I bet the gross margin on that sort of business is 85 - 90%.
I think it’s cool that you are limber enough to play VTSI in both directions. I have never shorted a stock. One reason is I’m too chicken. The other reason is I rarely have any cash in my account. Typically I’m always 100% long on about a dozen stocks, about 15 right now.
That makes no sense. I hold all my shares at Fidelity. They are available for shorting. I could restrict them if I wanted to but no reason to.
Have you ever shorted VTSI in the past? Any trouble doing so?
No such thing as bad publicity but that author really mailed it in. Zero thought, zero effort, barely an opinion, and nothing new.
I do like how relatively stable the price is at $8 and that the daily volume is still decent. If only we could get a PR with some significant news….big orders, strategic orders, Axon sniffing, Givens/Ferris buying shares……anything….Please!
The questions you ask in your post are excellent. They illustrate exactly why VirTra needs to formulate, articulate, and communicate a 3 year or 5 year vision with a stated revenue target. This is not just for investors, the real benefit is for employees, potential employees, and potential customers. It also is an excellent check on the CEOs and directors.
The reason they don’t do this is not because they are afraid of “missing” or the extra scrutiny that comes with it. The real reason is terribly sad…..they simply do not know where they are going, or as you said ‘who/what they are’
I was a little harsh in how I started my last post. In pondering a bit more, I simply wish Ferris would apply the same logic he used to employ Givens in order to fix the Sales Org. Hire a proven all-star sales guy, give him free rein, and be blown away by the multi magnitude increase in orders.
What I fear is that Givens might not understand how to sell to LE. He understands the fed gov but I bet he is a little clueless on how to sell to municipal police depts. It takes a relationship, hand holding, training, demos, etc over a 6 to 24month timeframe. Also, each municipality has a different structure and decision maker and “all politics is local”….meaning phone calls and zoom and that crap doesn’t cut it. There needs to be personal relationship between each municipality’s decision makers and a VirTra dedicated sales person. Without that, any orders VirTra gets are accidental.
AKA….complacent, backward looking, self-back patting, clueless about selling….but still a smart man, maybe a nice guy, certainly an inventor and entrepreneur, and self aware enough to bring on Givens, and confident enough to promote him, and he has built this company into something approaching impressive.
So for me at this point the good outweighs the bad by a lot.
