And if we compare today with where we were 12 months ago....I'm happy.
PR regarding Airclic Settlement
http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/news/2005/jul/13/news1.html
HOAAH!
We won't see it until all the litigation is decided between all parties and NEOM, but some figures related to the Virgin agreement would have moved us North quickly. Good buying opportunity if you have money lying around to invest.
GLTA
Man this stock is really exciting when you start thinking about the possibilities in 2008-2012 and beyond...
We should...they do not want to spend their limited dollars on a prolonged court case just to have NEOM's patents upheld. IMO, maybe, NEOM can help partner and with the remaining competing companies so that NEOM products can have even a larger impact on the market.
Not to toot my own horn too much, but my post 22884 and 22977 predicted exactly what would happen with the recent virgin settlement.
The question now is, how much are they willing to pay for the license...REVENUES...the only portion of the equation that is missing at this point for NEOM.
Tell me about it...my 10 year old nephew has had his own website since he was seven. He can even perform his own webmaster work; and is getting pretty good with Java script...its scary...these kids have been on a computer their entire lives.
agree...I once read a column that suggested something like 88% of the R/S conducted in the last X years have had a negative effect (short run) on the stakeholder.
AWESOME...GREAT POST...folks, I currently perform M&A work for a financial institution, however, prior to my current position, I was the Audit Manager for a F500, Gas and Electric Utility Company and was responsible for their SOX compliance with section 404. I am extremely familiar with SOX, and even had a small part in helping contribute to the drafting of the legislation via my local Congressman who was a co-author.
Pink sheet stocks are not required by the exchange to adhere to the 404 requirements of SOX in the same manner that non-pink sheet companies are. To me, I can only interpret this one way...NEOM plans to move to the big boards very soon. Within next 6 - 12 months. Otherwise, they would not be expending the resources they will have to expend to comply with section 404...it is not feasible to try and comply with section 404 in its entirity as a pinksheet company.
This means one of two things...either the mgmt. of NEOM fully believes they will meet the minimum pps requirements to get AMEX, NASDAQ, or NYSE exchange greenlight within the next business cycle; or, they may perform a reverse split to artificially inflate the pps in order to qualify. It is my experience that reverse splits, are usually not good for the shareholder; and, I would assume that there may be clauses within the cornell agreement or the contingency agreements with the patent attorneys, that would inhibit a reverse split.
Just my thoughts, but I view this as very, very, very positive information. Best news I have heard in a long time regarding NEOM. GO baby GO!
If I didn't have to take a pretty significant pay cut, and move out of state (can't do right now, because my home is mid-renovation...kinda tough to sell a home during mid-renovation), I would apply for the position. Of course, if management wanted to grant me some decent stock options, I be Florida bound tomorrow! HA!
OT: The ONE...JP, glad you have a cause to believe in and champion; however, I have traveled extensively, and while poverty is disgusting and sickening, getting rid of debt in itself will not extinguish poverty. In many of these countries, the government is unstable and corrupt. A better approach to assisting with the epidemic of poverty, is for the U.S. and other countries which hold this foreign debt take the annual interest payments and then, place those receivable back into those impoverished countries in the form of third-party led education. Literacy is the key to improving the forces which cause poverty.
As the old saying goes...Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you will feed him for a lifetime.
OT:St. Andrew...my wife and I are in the middle of a total renovation/restoration of our 1908 Plains/Victorian. We are building a 2200 bottle wine cellar, with a barcode inventory system and capacity for two kegs of beer insulated in a cooler that will keep the frosty stuff chilled to a nice 40 degrees.
Hey...there's another software app for PC...click on a barcode of a bottle of wine, and it gives you a vinters/tasters rating, comparison pricing for your location, describes the wine's normal pallete and composition, and can give you some comparison wines to try should you like the one you are reviewing...
OT: Cabernet...based on your screen name...Have you tried the Penfolds Thomas Hyland Reserve? Very good mid-priced, table wine. The Aussies make some pretty nice vintages...
Yes...Good day indeed...I'm going to take off early, have a couple of Kronenbourg's (the only thing worth a damn from France), smoke a Montecristo Habana Robusto (I have a dedicated pipeline if anyone needs a supplier...no customs...I'll bring some to the party in Vegas) and hit the links...try to work in about 9 holes this afternoon.
SLAS
Maybe...they could just link the IHUB board for their IR page...ha!
I have been burned more often than not trying to average down...now, I don't even take the risk...especially with stocks like NEOM that can swing wildly at a moments notice.
Of course, some of my F500 holdings, I average down pretty successfully all the time. UPS is one I have done well with lately...sold at $87ish and bought back in the low $71's...
WHOA...what happened? Just got back from long lunch meeting and found the stock Green with 30MM shares...
Was there news I missed, or did the panickers run out of shares to sell and now new hands are buying in?
I have to admit...the wife and I each keep our own savings accounts that must keep a minimum of 6 months salary at all times (in case we should find ourselves unemployed one day)...I drained mine to buy more shares...SHHH!!! Don't tell the wife or I'll be on the couch tonight!
Of course, maybe she will forget all about it, when I buy her the diamond broach she has been asking for with the profits from my .334 NEOM shares...
GLTA
Exactly Lupetto...if Virgin really wanted to, they could hold this thing up in court for years, and force NEOM to get lean or to bring in revenue elsewhere to fight the suit. Obviously, if Virgin believes the technology is worthwhile, they would rather bring it into the market/continue to use it and actually produce revenues instead of expenses through litigation. Unfortunately, the scenario above occurs with small companies (with big ideas and intellectual property) all the time. However, usually that life cycle is much earlier on in the game. NEOM is about 10 years along in its life cycle, and the product and timing is much to close to takeoff for Virgin to risk losing the market opportunity by a prolonged court battle.
JMO..
My intuition, which is 98% of the time correct, tells me that Virgin will settle, and a deal will be announced prior to the 14th. Last month's status hearing was probably the last time NEOM's attorneys have to go into a court room representing NEOM for quite awhile. After the Virgin settlement, the other parties will line up to get on board the NEOM patent wagon.
OT:CJZAK...not implying you thought it was a sham...I definitely understand you are long and strong...sorry for confusion.
Yeah...I share that sentiment...unfortunately, I and my partner are tapped out. In addition, stocks I would normally liquidate in order to get in on NEOM, have taken a pounding recently, and cannot sell those now.
TOO DAMN BAD!
The company is no sham...you don't hire AWAY execs like Martin Copus if it is all a sham.
Sounds like a very good sign williamfl...I interpret this as progress on a settlement. If a settlement deal was off, then, both parties would have shown up today said a deal could not be reached, and the judge would have set a date for hearings so that she can issue a ruling. However, because it has been rescheduled for the 14th, indicates to me, that talks are still occurring, and probably the final details need to be ironed out. I would say I am 95% certain that we will have an announcement prior to the 14th of a deal between Virgin and NEOM. To bad, the MM's get to purchase a ton of shares from weak stomachs. Man...no offense, but there are a great deal on this board who I wouldn't want in my foxhole.
JMHO
I see a mix of both cash and partnership in EU operations. Unless you have spent some time abroad, you don't get a real good sense of the impact of the Virgin name. Virgin has fantastic creative marketing and I hope they can partner with NEOM to push the platform...JMO
Remember...this thing will hit in EU long before it hits in the states. Just another reason why the hiring of Copus was such a big event...
very well said...today we are seperating the longs from the true longs. Folks, in the last three days, I have started the patent process on 4 different products and services that capitalize on NEOM technology. After being in this stock nearly two years, without selling a single share, even when it marched all the way down to .07, it has finally started to click with me the potential of mobile marketing and more importantly mobile devices. I can say that I am fully confident that we are on the cusp of a revolution in personal computing the likes of which will rival the mid-late 70's when computers first became PC's; and also rival the days when we left the dos platform for windows. Seriously, 8 to 10 years from now, we will not have personal computers at our office...we will have mobile handheld computers with docking stations. You will be able to carry on your person, a mobile device that is fully integrated with the capabilities of todays pc's (plus a whole lot more). When you get in your vehicle, you can dock your handheld for gps, maps, contacts, file folders that are all voice activated. When you go to check out at the grocery store, you will dock your handheld to pay for your transaction, and to automatically deduct your mobile coupons. When you get to the office, we will dock our handhelds to pull up all of the spreadsheets or file folders, and software we utilize at work. The possibilities are endless. NEOM, I FULLY BELIEVE, understands the possibilities, and their most valued possession is the patent that is the bridge from the physical to the electronic world. If you want to play the game 10 years from now, you will have to pay NEOM. The biggest risk to NEOM is the fact that the patent lawsuits are still pending. Depending upon what occurs in the virgin case is the key to this company.
I don't like the volume and the big pps decline today. I have lost over $50K on paper in the first hour of trading today. I am down over 200K from the high just a few weeks back. Am I worried...no! One of my best friends is a top notch patent attorney, I turned him onto NEOM well over a year ago. On his own time, he has researched the patents of all parties involved; including scanbuy...his opinion is this: "while it is possible for NEOM to lose a patent suit, it is not very probable." He would love the opportunity to defend NEOM patents, because he says it is a slam dunk case.
I advised him against this; however, the guy took out a second mortgage on his home to buy more NEOM stock...
I'm not worried...go buy some pepto, and coat your stomach, because this may get much uglier before it gets better. IMO, and dependent upon Virgin case, this stock will see $1 in the next 20-30 days...not based on technicals, based on market potential, and what I as an accountant who performs professional M&A work would pay for this company. Given a 450-500MM float in shares...realistically, this company could be valued in the $2 - $3.5 billion range after virgin is settled. Until we know the outcome of virgin...this stock is still a large risk (calculated).
GLTA
OT: well, when you are the largest employer, then you probably will have the most employees of any company collecting federal benefits???
Regardless of the varying opinions on wal-mart, overall, the effect of Wal-mart on the consumer has been very positive.
So, if they have revenue of 300MM, what do you think they would spend if they knew that a new form (mobile) of marketing would boost their revenues by 10% annually? How much would you spend to bring in an additional 30MM in annual revenues....this equals BIG DOLLARS to NEOM.
Just imagine, this is one company with a very niche market segment. Imagine when we start talking about p&g, GM, Ford, Pepsico, etc...
Why is it that Wal-Mart became the worlds largest company...fantastic logistics, fantastic buyers, but most importantly fantastic store marketing of their products...Mr. Sam was the world's best at driving impulse shopping. NEOM and mobile marketing will take impulse shopping to a whole new level. IMO
Fret not...
I for one am glad the pps has dipped. It allowed me to buy in under .50...now I have loaded myself with some NEOM shares I can trade with...just sunk $140K in this puppy...plan on doubling my money in the next 30 days...seriously!
Thank you for kind words. They are very appreciated.
OT: Not to try and dampen the mood, but rather to put things into perspective, I found out this past weekend, that a very good friend and military buddy of mine was killed in Iraq. I'll be taking some time off next week to attend his funeral.
Making a ton of money is important...but we shouldn't hold each other in contempt for comments on boards...life is too short and too precious to get upset or angry regarding someone else's viewpoint on a stock.
As my momma always used to say..."If it can be solved with time or money...then it's not a problem."
GLTA - and remember...if investing were easy, everyone would be wealthy...no stock goes straight up...remember with regard to NEOM the most basic principle of finance, the "risk and return" principle. NEOM is risky, but the return has the potential to exceed the risk.
Because of the O/S float...don't see too many splits in their future.
YIPPEE!!!
Just got another $100k in funding wired to my AT acct.
Gonna try to pick up some shares below .50 if the drift continues...these will be trading shares! Plan on doubling the 100K in the next 30 days....IMHO.
Don't worry about the stats or polling...our society and our economy is gradually shifting to a service economy...the key factor in any type of service relationship is CONVENIENCE!!!
Mobile phones (or a hybrid mobile phone/notebook/pocket pc) are the wave of tomorrow due to the simple fact that they are convenient. IMO, we are still at a minimum of 36 months away from really seeing the market develop to the true mobile pc/telephone...the question to ask is who (or what company) will be leading the revolution. I think the DD is clear that in addition to the Nokia, Ericson, MSFT, etc. (the big boys), you will also see innovative companies such as NEOM with new technologies (and patents) who will be major players in the new mobile pc markets.
Remember when computers used to be stored in large warehouses with a plethora of vacuum tubes and punch card programming...then Mcintosh/apple and Tandy started to introduce the home computer (wasn't even affordable at the time)and many industry insiders laughed...well, in a few years, home computers quickly became the dominant player...why?
Useability and CONVENIENCE.
OT: No...absolutely no connection to OKSB in any form, except for observing their market strategy and positioning in the regional commercial lending market (as one of their competitors)! :)
My investment partner (who is the money behind the brains...ha! ha!) could blow 10K a day and never run out of money. I finally got him to invest in a couple of microcap stocks (including NEOM) and so far, they have been his biggest winners!
Also, someone had mentioned getting a board started to discuss serious DD on other potential stocks...my personal favorite (behind NEOM) is OKSB...it is a regional bank located here in Oklahoma. I am familiar with the operations and market strategy and think it is significantly undervalued at current prices. Buy in at current prices and you will see 50% return in 12 -18 months. They specialize in commercial lending with an emphasis in medical profession (doctor's offices, small hospitals, urgent care facilities). The segment is booming and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Do your own DD...!!!
Let me clariy my use of the word Tease...I agree the PR is significant development, and am in no way trying to diminish the PR...that being said, I think the PR was put out maybe before mgmt. wanted it to be in an effort to keep the pps at acceptable levels. Further evidence for this is suggested in the fact that the PR did not give any details on the patents granted (i.e. purpose, function)which usually patent PR's doe elaborate in more detail. This and the pre-market release suggest to me that the PR was thrown out to keep the pps up, especially given the volume of the sell of during the last hour of trading yesterday. It stops the panick and the taking of more stop losses by MM's.
Don't get me wrong, I think Mgmt. is doing a fantastic job!
IMO...and I have been here since .02
Mgmt. sees the opportunity for NEOM to be a $2-$3 stock within the next 6-12 mos. If that occurs, then we surely will be taken to a different board..maybe Amex or Nasdaq. The current PR this morning (while welcome) is nothing more than a teaser to keep the pps from floating down too low. It is much easier to reach $1 from .70 than it is from .40
In addition, for me, this solidifies the fact that a deal is inked with Virgin; and it leads me to think that Virgin is going to be a major partner with NEOM. These patents would not have been greenlighted in Europe without the behind the scenes approval of European big-wig Virgin. If, Virgin did not want NEOM to get the patents, then they would have been held up.
I'm gonna step out on a limb here and state that once all the partnership agreements have been inked, and this thing is launched in Europe and U.S.; it is not inconceivable to place a multi-billion dollar value on NEOM's assets. That being said, with the current market cap, you are potentially looking at a $7-$10 stock within the next 24-30 months...Yes, I am a perpetual optimist.
Got another 10K shares at .53! Yippee! Double my money on those shares by month end IMHO. GLTA.
success...my past dealings with judgements/settlements for publicly traded companies tells me that it is anyone's guess. Essentially the parties can agree to whatever time frame they wish; or, sometimes the court will impose its own timeframe. There is no set standard or SEC rules that come into play.
I dare not take any off the table and book my profits. On a few different occassions I have sold and bought back during retrace to add to my position. It is fun when this occurs, because it is like someone giving you FREE shares; however, I have been burned much worse chasing a stock when it pops.
A couple of years back, I bought a penny stock (which I usually don't do...I am usually a much larger cap investor) at .09 and watched it climb in two days to .17. I sold when it started to retrace and got out pretty quickly at .155....thinking that I would be able to re-enter in the .10-.11 range. The stock came close it his .118, then WHAM! the news that I was hopeing for and anticipating hit the wire, and I ended up chasing the stock. I even had my buy order in at .04 higher than market and could not touch a single share. I was locked out, and was unable to get back into the stock until .38. It eventually climed into the mid-dollar range, but I had sold out at 1.08. Did I make money...YES, could I have made much more if I would have just bought and held...YES!
There is a plethora of reasons for the sharp decline. I know what I own, so to me, it won't matter if we see the .40's or .30's again. I buy and hold. It is inevitable that news is coming, we all know the news will be very positive, and I would hate to have to try and chase this thing once it pops...it is on everyone's radar screen now, and the interest will be much greater when news is realeased than it would have been just a few weeks ago. IMHO
GLTA
In my opinion, if you don't own this stock, but are wishing to...this may be your entry point. ... .60
