Most of the volume traded above $1.50. There are just no buyers below the market for this when it drops so price moves to wherever it can find some liquidity. This has more to do with no news than news
I don't know why its like a dirty word for them. Secondary. But they did say no new equity so I guess we believe that
If they go with some sort of convertible deal that would be about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. They have to be smarter than that especially given their own interest in the company don't you think?
Any other ideas on whats up their sleeve? Maybe they just know that they have some settlement deals on the table that will get them through the next couple of quarters?
I also have to think GE did some DD and wouldn't be wasting their time with a company they didn't think could pay them
Yes
I agree. I would love to know what kind of financing they have lined up that is "not equity" as Doug says. Any guesses? These guys are invested themselves in the company, I have to trust that they would never do some sort of toxic convertible deal. They have to be smarter than that.
Honestly I know why they are so afraid of issuing more stock. If they could find a good investor and if they went in themselves, I wouldn't care if shares were diluted. It would be a positive
Typical Ed Johnson move there.
Ed what are your thoughts here on the company now? Its been awhile since we have heard from you
You want to explain this because the translation stinks?
Mutually withdrew complaint would imply a settlement but you guys are talking like its not a good thing so....
After three long years of whining and asking where the stock price is going on a weekly basis you are finally selling. Amen to that. This is not to bash you its to thank you and wish you well in your next endeavor Jalase

Hi guys....I have been accumulating shares for about a year now and appreciate all the info i get from this discussion board. Does anyone have an opinion about the trading activity in the last half of the day yesterday (fri)?
What are you looking for? No one can tell you which way a stock is going to move. I think you need to sell whatever you own of this and move on.
I haven't had a chance to listen to the call. Did they say why they are just now allowed to say GE? what changed today that freed them up to let us no?
That's what I'd like to know more than anything else
Down 13% on 100 shares. Ha. Just have to remember that can work both ways.
Well thank god and good news that they are not reporting on a Friday
Who is the moderator? Serious question please. Why don't just delete all of Jalase's whiny posts.
Jalase sell and get out of here or post something useful. Positive or negative on MARA you are welcome but quit your annoying whining all the time
They think that they are being clever by making these "transformational" announcements on the earnings date rather than in between but what it looks like to most people is a company using the news to try and mask a bad earnings report. I have a feeling they will once again screw up by doing this when they report third quarter.
We were supposed to hear who our big fortune 500 partner is a month ago. Did Jason comment on this?
The short interest at 22K shares as of end of September is the lowest it has ever been for MARA
I don't think it is telling you anything. Other than like buy interest there seems to NO interest at the moment
How the hell would any institution buy this stock when every big deal is a complete mystery. We have these great patents but we can't tell you why they are great or what they are worth or even what we frigging paid for them exactly. We have this big partner but we can't tell you who it is.
Come'on. For anyone that has ever worked on Wall Street at a hedge fund or large institution try selling that to your boss or peers when reviewing the portfolio
Company needs to change this or the stock will never be liked no matter what they make in earnings.
I'd appreciate if the mods didn't delete this
Jalase why do you continue to post your snarky comments and whining on this board? Why don't you just sell your stock?
Serious question
ACTG shares now over $7. Insiders have been buying hand over fist. I know at least one person at MARA reads this message board. Take this message down. We want management to use some of those big salaries to buy MARA shares in the market. Put their money where their mouth is. Be a genius Dougy boy
Management needs to buy stock like ACTG
Of course we don't. I don't think people understand the difference between a stock buyback and seeing insiders buy
Forget the buyback. That's not a good use of cash. But I agree. I'm tired of hearing BS excuses about why insiders can't buy stock. If Acacia insiders can buy so can MARA's. Seeing that would be the single biggest positive for the stock price. We won't go higher on vague deals with mystery companies and investors no matter how good we may speculate these deals are. There are like always no details and investors are left in the dark as usual. But seeing a Doug or Erick or Sanchez or Kneutel buying in the market, well that says a whole lot about how we should view these deals. Funds screen for these things. Some insider transactions would alert a whole lot of people to this name.
MARA, Jason are you listening?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the last time they did an equity raise, they did it at market
#3 regarding change of control indicates that Spangenberg and maybe Croxall want to buy in on any offer and one or both could go over the 20% mark.
That or they have another huge investor lined up that wants to acquire 20%
No one likes to be diluted but much rather that than take on more debt. This is a bet on Spangenberg and Croxall. If they need more money and are putting their own dollars in on the offering then well isn't that what we are here to see?
I think with this guy you need to be thinking Flash Memory and China
Wow MARA has a PE Ratio!!
There is one thing that I want to see here and that is INSIDER BUYING. How come ACTG insiders can buy but MARA's can't???
Why do you love that?
SO they paid $6m for this patent. This settlement alone is a double but its way more than that as they will use this to go after Amazon, Samsung etc. This is a big win no question. You want to be VHC or VRNG and hold out for years for the big one that's fine then you are disappointed but that has never been MARA's strategy. If you can settle with Apple then you may just have a viable business plan as an NPE after all
My question is why are we paying 50%. 10K states settlement between 10-40m we pay out 40%. Could the increase be part of the royalty agreement? (ie pay more upfront in exchange for higher share of royalties?) that doesn't quite make sense because it seems like there IS no royalty agreement yet with RPI. I'm not holding my breath but it would be something if MARA pulls a rabbit out of the hat with a decent size royalty stream
This stock has a 1% short interest and almost no open interest in its Put options. Your post makes no sense sir
Could the Dynamic Advances Patent be used to go after Amazons Alexa in addition to SIRI?
And what about the others? Someone posted initial damage estimates on the others and at least a few of them were as big as Kia? Why wouldn't those also be big chunks?
This news is out and hasn't moved the stock at all. Very weird if you ask me
What do you regard as a "big Chunk"?
Any guesses on the value of these Ed? This was billed as a marquee "home run" type portfolio. Enough to significantly clean up that balance sheet?
Hard to believe that numbers don't leak in a situation like this and get reflected in share price somehow but then again with this company who knows
There are SEC rules too that MARA has to follow. Remember in 2014 when they won a $10m settlement that was pre-released to the market
If they receive money in a settlement and it is material to earnings I would think that it has to be announced. They can keep the details confidential I get that but the dollar amount as it pertains to MARA's financial health. Why can't that be disclosed?
Signal IP. How can we have reached settlements with 4 defendant's in what is supposed to be a marquee high value portfolio and not have material news?
Can anyone Flyers? explain this?
Looking at ACTG and a couple others I follow and I can say there is not much the market likes to see better than some insider buying. Are you listening MARA? Why can ACTG CEO do it and not Croxall?
Ed I am a fan of your skepticism however your reasoning doesn't make much sense here
Something went wrong with the MARA/Uniloc deal probably back in Oct and definitely by year end the deal was clearly in big jeopardy (the whole time failure by Uniloc's auditors was being blamed). At that time ACTG stock traded at $6+. Uniloc is basically proposing to use ACTG's own cash on its balance sheet to buy the company. That was not a possibility until really end of Feb. I don't think you can say Uniloc passed on MARA to do this. The circumstances for this deal just were not around when the MARA deal went bad. Agree or disagree?
ACTG will no doubt reject this. They have been using cash to buy back their own shares down here I believe. It will be interesting to see how Uniloc proposes financing this deal, they will need some debt ($54,m less whatever cash they have) to do it. We may finally get to see what their finances look like after all. I doubt it though. More than likely this goes away. I don't think Uniloc has the resources to do this at a fair premium. I'd feel less comfortable about Uniloc after this and it does seem that maybe MARA is the one that dodged the bullet here. Any Uniloc shareholders have a view here?
Those look like settlements to me. Explains strength in the stock
4Retire you said that you were a Uniloc Investor. What explanation did they give you for the termination of the merger?
You are still hanging around here why is that? Developed an interest in Marathon?
