Based on this order from Extreme Copper and our expanding relationships with other equipment manufacturers, we are optimistic that we will see increasing revenues in the third quarter and for the fiscal year,” added Mr. Ketch.
Rim Semiconductor Receives First Purchase Order..
Rim Semiconductor Company (OTCBB:RSMI) has received its first purchase order for $114,300 of its flagship Cupria™ transport processor. Extreme Copper, Inc. of Westlake Village, California, placed this purchase order under its previously announced three-year supply agreement with Rim Semi. The Company anticipates that the gross profit margin on this order will be above seventy percent.
Extreme Copper has designed Rim Semi’s products into its new line of network equipment. “We believe that they will be successful in selling many units because their new equipment is very innovative,” stated Brad Ketch, Rim Semi’s president and chief executive officer. “When we announced our supply agreement with Extreme Copper in November of last year, the companies believed that sales by Rim Semi to Extreme Copper could reach $3 million over the contract period. Now that Extreme Copper has placed its first order under the supply agreement, we remain confident in those initial projections.”
Rim Semiconductor Company previously announced a multi-year supply agreement with Logic Research Co., Ltd. of Fukuoka, Japan, and has entered into memoranda of understanding with four equipment manufacturers concerning their evaluation and deployment of the Company’s Cupria™ transport processor. Rim Semi has also received a verbal commitment from another equipment manufacturer to evaluate the Company’s products. “Based on this order from Extreme Copper and our expanding relationships with other equipment manufacturers, we are optimistic that we will see increasing revenues in the third quarter and for the fiscal year,” added Mr. Ketch.

How Big Is The Opportunity?
The numbers continue to add up for the copper segment when we take a look at the global demand for broadband. Worldwide, the installed base of copper far outstrips both fiber and wireless combined. Currently, 1.3 billion customers worldwide are on copper lines. Of these, 10% or 130 million are existing digital subscriber line (DSL) subscribers. Industry analysts are predicting this number will double in the next five years. All of these 260 million users will need to further upgrade their copper lines so that they can watch TV. With our chipsets expected to sell for $25 per subscriber, it is easy to see that the market is hundreds of millions of dollars.
Breakthrough Performance
By reaching farther and operating faster, Rim Semi's chipsets will have the ability to serve up to 50% more subscribers than competing chipsets can using the phone companies existing field equipment.
This advantage can let the phone companies double their subscriber revenues from the same installation, compared to the competition.
A Simple Field Upgrade
Rim Semi's technology offers a seamless upgrade of the existing transport system, and thus makes upgrading the telecom network much faster and cheaper.
Because our solution requires only a chipset upgrade, all the existing infrastructure in the copper network remains in place. In contrast, fiber and wireless technologies mandate a complete overhaul of the network. With costs radically lower for copper upgrades - and with implementation much simpler and faster - more telcos can afford to choose the copper upgrade option. We believe that this simpler, faster, and more affordable option translates to higher demand - thus higher growth - in the copper segment of the telecom broadband budget.
An Innovation Engine
15 patents granted, 13 pending, and more applications are on the way.

YOU SAID HELLOSOFT WAS A RENT A NAME ALSO. You were WRONG.
Hellosoft was specifically hired to finish the FPGA.
DONE.
Our initial chipset in a planned family of transport processors, the Cupria™ (formerly known as Embarq™) Cu5001 digital signal processor, was first shown to several prospective customers during the first fiscal quarter of 2006. In the third fiscal quarter of 2006,

Come ON.. Do you think TSMC would let Rim use there name/reputation if Rim claims were not verified?
HELLO...............
TELCORDIA----------------------------------------
Look at the TSMC prs. They produce high volume chips for all there customers.. All legit companies. NO OTCBB EXCEPT OF RIM. WHY?
LARGE VOLUME.
VERY LARGE VOLUMES.
Not only was eSilicon eager to join our team, but they also brought TSMC to us. TSMC, the world’s largest independent chip fabricator, seeks to only work with the highest volume parts. They are known to reject customers which they think will only bring small volumes to them.
Ok. Your down $200,000.00 and your telling me how to invest? LMAO.
Sorry Billy. Answer the question.
What is TSMC the Largest Manufacturing Company doing with Rim?

RIM Semiconductor selects world’s largest independent chip fabricator to Make Product
TSMC to manufacture Cupria™ for wireline networks
PORTLAND, OR -- December 18, 2006 -- Rim Semiconductor Company (OTCBB: RSMI), an innovator in video-over-copper technology, announced that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Inc. (TSMC) will manufacture its new Cupria™ 5001 transport processor. Rim Semi’s Cupria™ 5001 will be produced at TSMC’s Hsinchu Science Park location in Taiwan. TSMC is the world’s largest semiconductor foundry operating ten fabrication plants globally, five at this location, and also has substantial external capacity commitments at its joint venture fab, SSMC.
Rim Semi has also selected a new development partner to assist with the transition of its technology to TSMC. This partner’s services would supplement the work of Rim Semi’s current development partner, HelloSoft of San Jose, California, and Hyderabad, India, and its own engineering staff at its design centers in Portland, Oregon and Kanata, Ontario, Canada.
“When a broadband chip becomes widely accepted, demand can easily outstrip the ability of a small foundry to supply product,” stated Brad Ketch, CEO of Rim Semiconductor Company. “By engaging with TSMC, we believe that we have set in place the ability to effectively support volume growth.”
The Cupria™ 5001 is the first product in a planned family of copper transport processors. It is based on Rim Semiconductor’s innovative new Internet Protocol Subscriber Line (IPSL) technology. Cupria™ delivers significantly more bandwidth over longer distances, increasing the total available market for triple play services while lowering network costs. The IP-based technology offers a better end-user experience than other video-over-copper technologies to deliver superior image quality.
I think we both know the answer - they can't find anyone to buy what they've proposed their chip can do.
Cut the crap Billy.
VERY LARGE VOLUMES..
TSMC, the world’s largest independent chip fabricator, seeks to only work with the highest volume parts. They are known to reject customers which they think will only bring small volumes to them. Through eSilicon, they have now become another important piece in our supply chain.

We estimate that we will need an additional $1 million to accelerate our sales, marketing, manufacturing and customer service activities. We presently do not have the capital resources to undertake any of these steps, although we do have a commitment from an institutional investor to purchase $6 million of 7% Senior Secured Convertible Debentures upon our request at any time after March 1, 2007.
The FPGA chip has already been done for awhile. Products are being built to incorporate the chip into them so it can be tested and bought and used.
From Feb. SEC filing...
While our technology is currently available for evaluation and testing in field programmable gate array (“FPGA”) form, we do not believe that we will realize substantial revenues until our technologies are mass-produced in application-specific standard part (“ASSP”) form. We estimate that it will cost approximately $400,000 of additional engineering and fabrication expense in order to produce a mass market ASSP version. Subject to raising the needed capital, we estimate that we will complete them during the second fiscal quarter of 2007. To date, we have not recorded any revenues from the sale of products based on our technology and have not secured any purchase orders to sell our products.
As part of this program, we and Embarq are working with suppliers to develop prototype network elements like digital subscriber line access multiplexers and consumer modems that utilize our chipset. If such prototypes are developed and subsequent lab evaluations are deemed successful, Embarq has agreed to conduct a field trial of our Cupria™ family of semiconductors and to share its observations from the trial with its suppliers. As part of our efforts to produce network infrastructure equipment utilizing the Cu5001 that we believe will be suitable for use in Embarq’s network, we secured a commitment from Extreme Copper, Inc. of Newbury Park, California to incorporate the Cu5001 in its next generation digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAM) and customer premises equipment (CPE).
thx to Buy_Low for this info
500,000 to complete the assp. Is that a lot of money?
NO. Get real.
