It all depends on your definition of the word "is". Come on, you are reading too much into this.
Right on Torvec4me. You really hit the nail on the head
Leitrim,
Your last remark "Just looking for that first contract.Where, who, and when.." RIGHT ON!!
Dread,
What ever happened to "The proposed structure involves the creation of a joint venture comprised of Shanghai Automotive, Torvec and Peng Pu wherein Shanghai Automotive would contribute US dollars or equity, Peng Pu would provide manufacturing and distribution and Torvec would provide engineering designs, drawings and all know-how with respect to its Full Terrain Vehicle (FTV)?" Am I missing something? Where did this go?
I hope you all have a great Turkey day. Don't eat too much but enjoy. Keep up the great updates.
Hay Leitrim,
Just read the mailbox. Thanks. Still here and will be. Living on boat but check the board daily. Hope you, Tor, Dread and Dino1717 all have a great 4th. It looks like TOVC is in a position for a great buy at this time. What say?
Right on Dread. Perhaps shorts trying to drive down the stock? As my pappy used to say, "Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear."
Hay Tor, from where did you get that info?
Tor thank you and happy Easter to everyone. I hope you have a great holiday and peace to all.
You are right on Leitrim. Gore is correct in what he is saying and if you believe the movie (Which I do) it is your children and my grandchildren that will be suffering from it. Anyone that doesn't believe what Gore is saying either has their head in the sand or they are not smart enough to realize what is happening. Cutting emissions is one real good way to help and that is what the Torvec Tranny can do. That much is proven. So someone else must have their heads in the sand.
You are right on Leitrim. Bob Horton is a gentleman and a 100% class act. He is also very very smart. I knew him well and I think he is great.
I've lived here all my life and the only one I know of is a bus/truck/van modifier down in the Penn Yan area but they only modify what already exists. They just do body changes. Perhaps he is talking 60 miles north?
Just came in from plowing and I got about 1' on the level and it is still snowing. But that's ok, when its over its over. Spring is on its way and so is summer. We do live in a 4 season area and personally I love all of them.
I culdn't agree more dread. I thin those guys have and are doing a great job and I do believe it will pay off for us that have been around for a while. Thanks guys
Torvec back again on Ch 13 at 5:00. Good expo.
Dread,
It appears as though Toyota is trying to get into the Daytona 500. It and NASCAR have been limited to the 3 American auto Mfg. and now Toyota is looking to get into it. Question: Will they be using the Torvec Tranny as they did in the Bunny car? If they did it could be a big market for them. NASCAR is so strict that they may not allow it but I'm not sure of that. I hope it is allowed and does well.
Nice thoughts Tor. I have done the same gymnastics in the past and have come up with the same $20-$25 price. I used to think that there was also a potential of $100/share but I think the company would be bought up or the stock would split before the $100 was reached. None the less, the total value would still be there. This is not a stock to jump into, make a quick profit and jump out of. It takes time and the rewards will come to those who wait.
Hi Dino. Tried to contact you before the meeting but was unable. Sorry I couldn't make it but hope to talk to you soon.
Great Job Dread. Talk to you soon
Was hoping to see all of you at the meeting however I have a grandson obligation that conflicts with the time. Dread are you going to do the ihub thing like last year? If so I can read it later. From what I hear more auto makers will be going to diesel in the near future and Toyota et al is looking to replace GM as the number 1 auto maker in the US. If possible see if Torvec is talking to any of the other auto makers (Japan-China etc) Thanks
right on dread
Did you say cars or cows? Or perhaps tractors? (from cars)
What is happening to this stock? I have seen it go up and down over the past 7 years but never quite this fast. Down $1.04 on 85,300 shares at 10AM.
You said "It has been mentioned here that Murtaugh wants the whole company. I would love to believe that. But then I ask myself, why are we getting involved with a feasabilty study with NASA if the whole Co. is going to be sold in the near future?"
Wouldn't NASA have to honor a contract even if the company was sold? Perhaps that is one way to get into NASA>
2nd: I'm not sure which Murtaugh you are talking about.
3rd: I think the rest of your post is pretty much right there.
Hope you had a happy new year and that this year will be better for you than last.
Shanghai Auto Raises Its Profile
Its deal to buy out joint venture stakes from GM, VW, and others will make it the biggest listed car maker in China
by Brian Bremner
In another sign of the rising ambitions of Chinese domestic automakers, Shanghai Automotive announced plans to pay $2.4 billion for the stakes in major mainland car-making joint ventures with General Motors (GM) and Volkswagen (VLKAY) owned by its parent company known as Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., or SAIC.
Shanghai Auto, the publicly listed arm of SAIC, will pay for the stakes and that of more than a dozen other units from its state-owned parent using its own stock. While the transaction is basically an intra-company asset swap, the deal will result in Shanghai Auto becoming the biggest listed car maker in China—and presumably increase its ability to raise capital at the Shanghai Stock Exchange where it is listed.
The GM and VW joint ventures are considered SAIC's most valuable assets. The shares of Shanghai Automotive shot up 6.5%, closing at 6.54 yuan (83 cents), in trading on Nov. 30. It shares are up an astounding 97% on the year.
Passenger vehicle sales could grow 30% in 2006, according to estimates by Citigroup Research, and global and domestic automakers have plans in place to double passenger-vehicle manufacturing capacity to 10 million units by 2010. All this explains why China is now the world's third biggest market in terms of total passenger car, truck, and commercial vehicle sales behind the U.S. and Japan and likely will be No. 2 by the end of this year or in early 2007.
The Chinese government is nudging big mainland automakers to develop car brands of their own instead of just playing a back up manufacturing role for foreign joint ventures, which dominate the domestic auto market in terms of brand identity and market share.
SAIC announced in April that it will spend more than $1.7 billion over the next five years to create its own brand.
SAIC plans to make more than 30 models based on five basic platforms over the next few years. And the company may export to Europe as early as next year, a company spokesman said earlier this year (see BusinessWeek.com, 5/31/06, "China's Drive for Local Brands").
At the 2006 Beijing Auto Show in mid-November, SAIC showcased its first branded car, a high-end sedan called the Roewe that will be launched in 2007. The company developed the car based on the technology rights to two Rover models (the 25 and 75) it acquired from Britain's MG Rover Group last year (see BusinessWeek.com, 11/15/06, "Chinese Luxury Cars Debut at Beijing Show")
Negative Negative Negative Down Play Negative Bash
That’s right Dread.
They will probably go with the nuclear waste in that big black hole. No one thinks about this part of technology. Torvec has no waste, saves fuel, saves money, works great. What part of this idea isn’t understood?
Hi Tor,
Caution is the key word here and I understand however I am with you that ther are a very large number of Shorts out there. They have got to be hurting with Torvec where it is at. Lets hope it keeps going up, as it should, and perhaps we will loose a number of the shorts and the stock can settle down to where it should be.
Tor,
Just spent the same hour. Very interesting history. Who do you think the shorts are? Major houses? Or fly by nights?
Nice day again. Isn’t it funny that when things get going like today all the negative talkers seem to disappear? Nice volume, nice increase etc
Hang in there Dino. After all this time you know it goes slowly. Something is brewing. Peace.
What is with these political messages. If it was not an election most of thewse politicians would be brought up on charges. One says the other is running a negative campaigne and it is all negative. Makes no sense to me. I think Dyna was right on when he said "All I know is both sides of the isle are crooks and liars. Being a politician is NOT an honest way to make a living." Dyna absolutely. I will exercise my right as a citizen of the USA to vote but I really wanted to vote for someone that is not negative. Not many!!!. I don't know what they stand for because all they do is talk against their opponent. Not all because there is one that says what he will do but most are talking about the other only.
Remembering what you said in a previous post I pose the following:
There was a big anouncement on TV that Monroe County is going to 85% bio diesel to save money. Why not use the local technology and save more money than bio diesel will save? Is it perhaps that the county administration (R) is DD and S or they not really interested in helping locals? I just don't understand the thinking. If anyone knows why we won't support a local company with great proven technology and go for something new and what seems to be in the news, let me know. I really am in the dark here.
Peace.
I think the G's are credable people. I don't think they would short change the share holders. - trucker
Certainly my impression also.
I couldn't agree more
PS: I APPROVE OF THAT MESSAGE. Arn't you sick of that stuff????
I just heard on TV that the republicans think that the scandal was handled wrong but that also the democrats think that it wouldn’t be handled any better, Well that falls right into what Dina said. I think that what Torvec has is beyond politics although I think that Politics will play an important part. I am a fan of Torvec and I really think it will be good for the country and for us who have survived. If they make an allegiance with those that are building the new Hummer----Torvec already has something. Why re-invent? If it ain’t broke---don’t fix it. I’m on retreat down at Mt Savior this weekend and I’ll be praying for all of you all. And remember…………What will be ………will be.!
One last word:
They may see the good you do as self serving…..
Continue to do good.
They may see your generosity as grandstanding……..
Continue to be generous.
Them may see your warm and caring nature as a weakness……
Continue to he warm and caring.
For you see in the end it is between you and the creator….
It was never between you and them and you anyway.
FOR A QUARTER WHO SAID THAT
Dyna--You said "All I know is both sides of the isle are crooks and liars. Being a politician is NOT an honest way to make a living."
You said a mouth full and finally are right on.
Personally I don't think the scandal will have any affect on Torvec as the technology is the technology and not politics. I know he was pictured with the Torvec people but there are many others involved and I don't think TR will have an impact.
Personally I thought it was a great Speaking out article!! Lets hopw the stock reacts accordingly.
Ford purchase of Rover brand a blow to Chinese

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Ford's decision to buy the Rover brand from its German owner has dealt a blow to the global ambitions of China's biggest car maker, SAIC Motor Corp., analysts said on Wednesday.
Last year, SAIC bought technology for the Rover 75 and Rover 25 platforms from failed car maker MG Rover, and it had expressed interest in obtaining rights to the brand from BMW, as part of its efforts to go global.
SAIC has earmarked $1.71 billion (910 million pounds) to develop and sell its own-brand cars based partly on the Rover technology, targeting both domestic and overseas markets including Europe.
But Ford, which bought Land Rover from BMW in 2000 and had the right to buy the Rover brand name, announced on Tuesday it would exercise that right.
"That adds uncertainty to SAIC's overseas sales plan," said a senior analyst with a major domestic brokerage in Shanghai.
Shares of SAIC's listed unit Shanghai Automotive Co. fell 1.67 percent to 5.31 yuan on Wednesday, in a slightly lower overall stock market.
SAIC's failure to obtain the Rover brand by no means dooms its overseas expansion plans, analysts said. The company's Chinese joint ventures with General Motors and Volkswagen are performing well, and SAIC said this week that its first own-brand car would roll off the assembly line on November 28.
SAIC executives could not be reached for comment, but the China Business News quoted a brief company statement as saying the company would "stick to its current brand strategy".
However, without a well-known brand to use, SAIC will at the very least have to work harder and spend more money on advertising and promotions to establish a name for its cars abroad, analysts said.
That could slow SAIC's expansion into Europe. Company executives told Reuters in April that they would set up a sales company in Europe next year, and sell an annual 45,000 of its self-developed cars overseas by 2010.
SAIC to buy Ricardo out from joint venture
20th September 2006
Ricardo said in a note to its annual financial results statement this week that SAIC was expected to acquire control of the RICARDO 2010 (Consultants) Ltd joint venture operation based at Ricardo’s Leamington Spa drive train development facilities, and buy in administrative services from Ricardo, and this is now set to happen imminently, but with no material impact on Ricardo’s current-year results.
The joint R&D centre was created in May 2005 to work on new cars for SAIC. It employs about 150, mainly ex-MG Rover, personnel, who are working inter alia on a development of the Rover 45 platform.
The quoted arm of SAIC, Shanghai Automotive Co. announced yesterday after its AGM that its shareholders had approved its plan to buy CNY21 billion worth of its parent SAIC's assets through a private placement and asset swap. SAIC will shift its car manufacturing holdings - including its stakes in joint ventures with GM (30%) and VW (50%) to its listed arm. Shanghai Automotive will also acquire a 50% share in a bus-manufacturing venture with Volvo AB and 100% of the group's operations aimed at producing its own-brand vehicles.
After the transaction, SAIC will hold an 83% stake in Shanghai Automotive, up from its current holding of 68%.
Shanghai Automotive Co. may be ready to launch its first (Rover 75-based) model by November, in preparation for a commercial launch sometime next year, Mr Hu Maoyuan, its CEO, told the firm’s AGM yesterday. He expected the own-brand car operation to reach profitability within two years, reports the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
