GSK to acquire clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Affinivax, Inc.
https://affinivax.com/gsk-to-acquire-clinical-stage-biopharmaceutical-company-affinivax-inc/
GSK to pay $2.1 billion upfront and up to $1.2 billion in potential development milestones
Proposed acquisition provides access to next-generation 24-valent pneumococcal vaccine candidate in phase II development and highly innovative, MAPS technology
Supports development of a strong portfolio of innovative vaccines and specialty medicines
"Affinivax has developed the Multiple Antigen Presenting System (MAPS), a novel technology that supports higher valency than conventional conjugation technologies, enabling broader coverage against prevalent pneumococcal serotypes and potentially creating higher immunogenicity than current vaccines. Affinivax’s most advanced vaccine candidate (AFX3772) includes 24 pneumococcal polysaccharides plus two conserved pneumococcal proteins (compared to up to 20 serotypes in currently approved vaccines). A 30-plus valent pneumococcal candidate vaccine is also in pre-clinical development."
Seems familiar...
98.6% Institutional ownership.
I'm looking for high institutional ownership companies that are at multi-year lows.
“Preferred Recommendation Chances"
The success of this company seems to hinge on getting "ACIP preferred recommendation".
The vaccine seems to be very expensive and difficult to manufacture. $102,000,000 gone in the year before they even started a phase 1 trial. Seems very expensive and too hard to manufacture.
Are there other companies with conjugate vaccines just as good?
A couple days ago before the 8k I said they were still recruiting on clinicaltrials.gov and that the data wouldn't be released for 3 more months at the earliest. My post was deleted by an admin. Yahoo message boards are awful and the person who deleted my post here is making this board awful too. I'm long, but I'm not going to lie to myself or others about timelines when they ask.
>1.83 enough, why is it dropping daily?
They pissed off a their largest shareholder, a billionaire who was only person who was willing to give them money to further their trials.

Re: I gotta tell you, SYN is starting to remind me a bit of my old friend ONCS
I think the only way to make money on small cap bios now is to buy a couple of weeks before data release, hold though it, hope it is positive, and then sell at 9:30-9:45 AM on the day that it is released (I'm looking at you BLPH).
I don't think it will be this way forever. There are a lot of ignorant people willing to gamble on scams like ONCS and AVXL. It just might take a couple of years to get back that way. SYN is not an outright scam like those companies are but the way Riley used Trimesta to dilute the share price and continues to cheer about SYN-010, even though it is obvious that it is a failure, is making it sound more and more like one.
Since I'm already in the hole so much, and don't really care if I lose it all because I didn't invest much, I'm going to wait and see until SYN-004 interim results are released.
Why didn't they include a Trimesta slide or two?
I know the brain MRI data wasn't that great but they could have at least cherry picked it and presented it along side the old data.
I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction that I hope is wrong.
If I were to guess, SYN is overestimating timelines and aren't recruiting people fast enough. SYN-004 phase 2a should have been out a month ago. Also, SYN-010 only has 1 site open to recruit 60 people.
I do know the data will be good once it is released because due to the way trials were designed and what they're looking at.
Did anyone get a definite answer about Phase 1?
The Jan 2015 presentation said it was supposed to start at Walter Reed for AmpliPhage-002 near the end of this year. However, since then, they have gone quiet about anything that isn't pre-clinical.
Re: Patent Essay
That essay was written by shorts to try to trick unsophisticated retail investors into selling their shares. They did a very good job of writing it because unsophisticated retail investors are still quoting it today and worrying.
The entire essay misinterprets evergreening and lies about the legality of patenting the use of molecules that human bodies produce naturally. It just looks scary because it uses sciency and legalese sounding words.
Re: The fact that they only raised $40M
They originally claimed they would release the MRI results within 30 days of receiving it. Then in the next 8-K, they got the data but they said the data would be released after Dr V publishes it. Journals may keep telling her to revise the article over and over again. We don't really know when she is going to be publishing it. Either the MRI data is mediocre/bad or there's a delay in publishing. I hope it is a delay; they might have wanted to do the raise after the data but might have run out of money before that data is released. The 40M will also hold them over until the 2nd phase 2 MS (cognition) trial is over with.
I think the SYN-004 phase 2 trials have been recruiting a lot slower than anyone expected. The last 2 sites (out of 3) sites didn't start recruiting until a couple of weeks before the trial was supposed to be over. They also have to find people with an ileostomy who would voluntarily enroll in a trial and get experimented on (which is probably the main reason for the delays).
In case anyone didn't know, http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02495623 , the SYN-010 IBS-C trial just started recruiting last week.
With 3 trials now going on at the same time, and therefore cash burn being a lot higher, they probably couldn't afford to wait.
Re: Were the mri results in there?
They got Dr Vs draft article and the analyzed raw data per the 8k. They're not allowed to release it until she publishes it next month.
Re: SGYP - per twitter - very interesting
The second CIC Phase 3 trial ended 21 days after the first one. It has been over 21 days the first trial's results have been released. There's going to be news either week or next. Usually the news is released on Wednesdays.

Nasdaq.com isn't accurate for OTC stocks. Look at Pg. 030.
Can Someone Confirm Institutional + Insider Ownership For Me Please?
I'm getting a very high number (for an OTC stock) but don't want to embarrass myself or accidentally mislead others if I post the wrong number. Thank you.
