Hi old_john,
If I remember correctly, JW started with AIM by the book. He did adjust the safe amounts along the way depending on the cash burn.
In his new book using leaps, the buy and sells are incremental as you are using option contracts. I like the leap strategy, but you need a lot of money to get started.
If you are interested in incremental buys / sells, check out post # 42726.
His examples are using leveraged ETFs, but the increments can be scaled to anything.
In one of your posts you mentioned the tsx, are you from Canada?
Ray
Hi old_john. Re: when is a good time to start a position?
In Jeff Weber's writings, he recommends starting a program at the 52 week low. Its's nothing new, but a good place to start. He also recommends selling at the 52 week high.
Stockcharts.com has free pre defined scans that include stocks and funds at their 52 week lows.

Re: Covered Call ETFS
Hi all. It's been a while.
Any thoughts on AIMing covered call ETFs like QYLD?
They have the volatility of the market, as well as their own volatility created by the CC. They also pay out a income of about 10%.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Ray
I agree! The book isn't what I expected either, but I do give Jeff credit for continually coming up with ideas on how to keep the AIM machine moving. I give the book 3.5 / 5 stars.
Ray
HI AIMStudent,
As mentioned by others, I would stick with funds or ETFs.
My strategy is to wait for a security to pull back at least 20 % before buying. I know that seems impossible, but I think it is worth the wait. I have been AIMing for almost three years and I am almost fully invested.
I use Old AIM guys safe settings.

Ray
Hi Tom. Re options and AIM.
Thanks for the responding. I did read Jeff Weber's first book. I don't think he mentioned anything about LEAPs, if he did, it was very brief. Looking at his web site, he does have some interesting ideas. What I was looking for was a way to sell options on any stocks or etfs to generate some income to live on while still using AIM. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Toofuzzy,
Thanks for the response.
As with AIM, decent option premium are dependent on volatility.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Allen,
How do you sell puts and calls with AIM and it's by the book settings? Once you move too far away from the strike price, the premium is hardly worth the trouble.
Maybe a high dividend ETFs is the key. Collect the dividends and AIM on.
Thoughts?

Blockchain
Does anyone have a opinion on Blockchain Technology?
Here in Canada there is a new Blockchain etf (HBLK.to). At first I was reluctant to even look at the etf because it is new and so is the technology. After doing some reaserch on blockchain, I did look at the etf. Most of the companies in the etf are worth buying even without the new technology.
Any thoughts?

Ray
Hi galtinvestor,
Thanks for sharing your methods.
What value do you use as a minimum buy or sell when you are using 20% safe?
Thanks,
Ray
HI galtinvestor
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your methods.
It's always nice to see other investors perspective on AIM.

Twist On AIM
There is an interesting comment to dburkeaz AIM article on the Tough Nickel website. The comment was made 2 days ago by Doug K. I won't try to explain it myself, but it's about restarting AIM after a sell. I'm sure with all the experience on this board, something like this has surfaced before, but for someone new like myself I find it interesting. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
Here is the link.

Hi Allen,
I agree about the volatility of the cannabis market, but it is here to stay. Maybe when all the hype dies down, so might the volatility.
I know some people who use medical marijuana for pain relief and they swear by it. Who knows, this might be the answer to the opioid crisis, or maybe the start of something else.

Ray
The World's Going To Pot !
Does anyone have any investing ideas to take advantage of it?
In my part of the world the stock Aurora Cannabis (ACB.to) seems to be mentioned quite a bit. The only problem is that their price has jumped from $3.00 to $13.50 since November 2017.
In Canada, marijuana is supposed to be legalized in July 2018, but from what I've heard, law enforcement want it delayed until 2020 so they can figure out how to handle enforcement.
Thoughts, ideas?

Ray
Hi Toofuzzy,
I don't know too much about Bitcoin, but there is a local variety store that has a Bitcoin ATM machine. You deposit cash and you purchase BTC, ETH or LTC. As of this morning one BTC = $20807.58 CDN. I was going to buy one BTC, but I was short the 58 cents. LOL!

VectorVest
Hi Allen,
I looked at VectorVest a few years ago, but never got around to the 30 day trial. Here is a link to their Canadian forum. http://www.vectorvest.ca/category/ca-online-forum/
If I remember correctly, there were some strategies that worked well, others got you out of the market too early. Some of the users suggested using VectorVest signals to get into the market and then using your own signal to get out.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your input and sharing your charts. I always enjoy seeing them.
BIB does look Scarily interesting. We shall see what happens.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Toofuzzy,
Thanks for the response.
BIB does have some volatility, something that AIM looks for.
I recently just purchased BIB and plan on delaying the first AIM directed purchase if the price falls right away. Hopefully that helps with the cash situation.
Regards,
Ray
Does anyone AIM etf BIB?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Ray
Hi Allen,
I believe the Visualizer uses the inception date of the newest security of the group that you are back testing.
Ray
There's an App for this.
Sometime ago someone was looking for an AIM app. Here is one that I recently found. It looks alright, but I don't think I will use it.
http://myappwiz.com/home/appdetail?platform=Android&appID=com.javamatt.aim&name=AIM+Money+Machine
I believe it only works with Android.

Ray
Hi Toofuzzy,
I think Steven R. Selengut had something to do with Jeff Weber's news letter. That's where I remember the name from.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Allen,
Interesting idea you have there.
With the date of expiry being so far into the future, what would you do if the stock price went up above the call strike price before expiry? The buyer doesn't have to do anything until near expiry, which is a year and a half away. I'm just thinking that the long time factor could screw up the mechanics of AIM unless you bought back the call to close the contract, but that might cost more then the actual gain of the original call sell.
Just my thoughts.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Allen,
I just sent you a email.
Ray
Thanks Allen
I appreciate the offer. I will email you.
Ray
Thanks Ken,
I just checked it out on eBay.
It looks interesting, but they don't ship to Canada.
Ray
Hi Allen,
Are you referring to a book or software program?
Regards,
Ray
Hi Allen
The ETFs I was referring to were XES and IEZ. They were both at their 52 week low on Monday.
I look for etfs at that low everyday, but there hasn't been many lately.
Regards,
Ray
Oil Service ETFs are at their 52 week low. Does anyone AIM this sector? Any opinions?
Regards,
Ray
Hi Ocroft,
I'd be careful with those numbers. I've never seen a score that high. Maybe somethings missing from their financials.
Regards,
Ray
Hi cklow,
I agree with toofuzzy, stay with funds, but if you still insist on stocks, Google Altman Z score. Using that number should keep you out of trouble.

Ray
Macro Aim - I'm trying to gain a better understanding of Macro Aim. If I understand it right, you are only holding shares and Aiming when the short MA is above the long MA. When the short ma is below the long ma you are out of the market. I appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Ray
Hi Allen
Try sg.yahoo.com. Yahoo Singapore.

Hi AIM1979
It's the only one I know about.
Ray
Hi AIM1979
I just saved the web page to a file and I am able to open it off line.

Hi lostcowboy,
My comment about “fool” was me sharing a pun about myself with the board. Others mentioned that copies of Synchrovest were listed online for up to 300 dollars. I just purchased one, not for that price though. Price on the inside cover $8.95, with inflation that works out to $40.79 today.
Nice to see you posting again! I recently just finished reading through your SIG board. A lot of interesting ideas, thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Ray
Maybe a fool I am!
I purchase a copy of Mr. Lichello's Synchrovest.
When I'm done reading it, I will put it back online and sell it for 300 dollars. LOL, probably not.
Regards,
Ray
Synchrovest?
I've been reading through the SIG board and I am intrigued buy Synchrovest. Is there any other place to find information on it?
Has anyone used it?
Does it work?
It seems like a gentleman with the handle Lost Cowboy was doing a lot of work on it. Is he still around?
I would appreciate any information on the system.
Thanks,
Ray
Hi Toofuzzy,
Slw is a good company. I've owned it on and off for years selling covered calls on it.
Regards,
Ray
Hi Allen,
The stock in question is SLW. I think its just the nature of the stock and when I started AIMing it. SLW is a stock I held previous to learning about AIM and jumped in and started a program BTB. I have added more shares at this level.

Ray
