Himax: Loses Large Customer, Northland Capital Lowers TP
http://blogs.barrons.com/emergingmarketsdaily/2014/04/15/himax-loses-large-customer-northland-capital-lowers-tp/?mod=google_news_blog
April 15, 2014, 9:02 A.M. ET
By Shuli Ren
The one-day sale of Google Glass (GOOG) does not seem to help Taiwan-based display manufacturer Himax Technologies (HIMX), whose shares fell 14% to close at $9 yesterday.
Today, only a month after raising his target price for Himax Technologies (March 10), Northland Capital Markets analyst Tom Sepenzis changed his mind and lowered his price target from $20 to $15, “as a large South Korean customer has pulled display driver orders for the remainder of the year.”
The impact on Himax’s full-year revenue seems substantial. Here is Sepenzis:
The rest of the business continues to track slightly ahead of expectations, but the growth rate for the total small/medium display driver business will likely drop from 30% to 15% for the year.
The impact to the top line from the shortfall in orders from the South Korean customer will likely be in the range of $50-$60 million for CY14, and this will most likely continue into CY15. The reason for the reduced orders is unclear at this time, but this will have an impact in every quarter beyond Q114.
The change in expectations is primarily driven by the order change at its customer, but is also seeing increased pricing pressure, especially at the low end of the handset and tablet range. This could have a negative impact on margins in addition to the revenue hit.
We are reducing our CY14 estimates from $971.1 million and $0.68 to $920.9 million and $0.61 and our FY15 ESP estimate from $1.2 billion and $0.91 to $1.14 billion and $0.83.
But Northland Capital Markets maintains a Buy rating, saying:
HIMX is currently trading at $9.00, which reflects a P/E of 14.8X our adjusted EPS of $0.61 for the current year and 10.8X CY15. This is well below the group average of 21.1X CY14 earnings.
The major catalysts for this company are still firmly intact with new interest in array lenses taking shape and an increased push by Google to get Glass out into the world. The virtual reality space is heating up, and we expect multiple product introduction this year which could help LCOS compensate for the current shortfall in the display driver business, especially as we enter 2015.
So Google, be a good savior, and push the Glass out!

Thinking/Hoping…JCP's “Apple” Eat’s That Worm!
fwiw I’m thinking/wondering about the icy 2013/2014 weather will not show to be friendly for all of the walk-in "Retail Stores"…if one can not simply drive to work due to icy roads they darn sure can’t drive to shop at local stores? With that/those thoughts in mind thinking/”Hoping” JCP will collectively remain more PPS stable than not this Qtr's filings within comparison to their competition?
Otherwise…in the meantime/realtime thinking lets Keep It Simple and get this $7.99 gap out of the way! :o)

?…The three “Funds” went from “We Bought & Included JCP into the Fund” and then now only yesterday giving a one day notice for whatever undisclosed reason “We Have Sold 100% of JCP that We Previously Bought/Included”. What’s the timeline involved for such a collective advance disclosure following execution of such a “Fund” Sell?
Am I crazy, yes I am. Yet for the sake of this question please bare with me, doesn’t it take at least at least a month for a “Fund” to collectively come to grip with an 180/degree conclusion that they are going to in fact rotate ownership to 100% departure of a stock that’s within one of their “Funds”? I don’t know the timelines it takes to make a “Fund” change decision so having difficulty applying it into real time myself but hey, “Funds” don’t "day trade".

So I’ve learned that an iHuber’s visible user post history is calendar based not subscriber based…#msg-97005598. For example…although there’s no visible post history for Mattu http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/profile.aspx?user=2744 a highly active free non subscribing iHub poster that’s allowed 15 posts per day could have a visible user post history of 15 x 180(six months) = 2,700? Yep, began watching JC Penney w/Christmas holidays shopping season in mind
and overall thought she performed pretty much as anticipated during that period but then 2014 …. wow! Got to admit the return to prior, and even greater, lows came as a surprise to me. Not that I anticipated constant continuing upward movement just certainly not anticipating such a quick cliff dive. Obviously be easier to rationalize gathering if she paid a regular periodic dividend LOL.

Insightful interpretation from a prior horse owner/rider.
Especially reference to the team exiting the field with “Thunder” pre kickoff in that in reality they actually did…I didn’t see the Denver Broncos play in the Super Bowl Sunday night.
Actually feel sorry for the Seattle Seahawks not being genuinely capable of feeling really good about a Super Bowl victory in the same manner capable had both teams showed up. Nuff of that scov!
Anyway, given your past history with horses in Colorado thoughts of you came to mind when seeing “Thunder”, being ridden by a female, leading the boys onto the field. Hey, maybe that’s what got them distracted…a beautiful girl on a horse :o)
