It happens ...
I have an east coast phone number and live on the west coast; about a year ago at 9 pm my time (midnight eastern time, when I was likely to be asleep) I received an email to my recovery email saying my main email one had been changed, within seconds I received a text saying my phone number had been ported to a new device .. bam! They had my 2 part authentication.
It took a few hours of arguing on the phone with my cell phone company to recover my phone number back to my device (mind you, retail stores were closed so I couldn’t go in person till the next day). By the time I was had access to my phone again and email again they had changed pw’s for my Coinbase, Uber, and a handful of other apps which were tied to financial institutions.
I “believe” the game is to secure access and change pw’s then delete any record of email confirmation (my email deleted folder had been emptied) so that by the time you discover there have been changes made and go through the steps to recover your account they have already done damage.
A few days later it happened again, only thing I can guess is it was the T-Mobile app that was compromised since the phone company told me that’s how the changes were being made .... I switched mobile companies the next day

Look for my stickie note, it tells how to buy without needing Binance (as long as you have coinbase you can do it and store in a desktop wallet)
Look at my stickie post ... it gives directions to buy ripple without having an account with one of the major exchanges
Search my posts ... I've explained a few times how to do it using a desktop wallet
Last time I converted with coinswitch it took over 48 hours ... I sent messages and they talkes to me through it reassuring me that because of the volume process was slow
Start a conversation and send them the order info .. they do communicate which is very reassuring
If you already have coinbase you can do it if you have a computer ...
Download a desktop wallet (I believe mine is Ripplex), and set it up.... the address in the desktop wallet is the address to copy and use for your order (make sure to copy, print, and keep your key safe)
1. Buy coin through coinbase
2. go into coinswitch and pick your pair (I've purchased with BTC to XRP)
3. enter your desktop wallet address as the destination address (I did a small order at first just to make sure it all worked before doing a large exchange)
4. copy the order address from coinswitch, then go back to coinbase, go to your coin and paste the address to send coin to coinswitch
5. Send (coinbase may ask for verification or put a delay on the send . . I verified so it'd go through and it only added 10 minutes or so to the process)
It takes time to complete but it does work. I keep coinswitch open and watch the progress... make sure to screenshot the order info and contact them if it doesn't complete within a few hours (I had this happen once and although it did take 48 hours to complete they answered me along the way and stuck with me till it went through)
I was new too and in exactly the same place as you when I bought my first Ripple, I had an open coinbase but not verified and with nothing in it... plus I live in WA state which is highly regulated and exchanges like Kraken and Polinex aren't licenses to trade here . ...
It does work for newby's. Buy bitcoin on whatever exchange you're able to purchase from (for me it was Coinbase) .. download the desktop wallet to your computer and set up the wallet (I believe mine is Ripplex - am not in front of my computer so going off memory) .. I went into coinswitch and entered the pairs (btc to xrp) and the amount of coin I wanted to use .... entered my desktop wallet address as the "to" address and copied as per the instructions the Coinswitch address for my order to be put into Coinbase . .. back into coinbase, send bitcoin, paste the coinswitch address and waited
It does work (Coinbase will likely say it's going to take 72 hours, but it does give the option to verify identity and if you do it only adds 10 minutes or so)
I did a very small transaction to make sure everything worked properly at first and it did, so have done 3 this way now
Sorry, can't pm
Were you able to purchase? I purchase bitcoin through coinbase and use it to exchange on coinswitch and have it deposit into my desktop wallet
You can buy Ripple without setting up an account with Binance, Kracken or any other exchange that actually exchange ripple.
Set up a ripple desktop wallet, go to coinswitch or other exchange and put in the amount you want and which coin you'd like to purchase with (I've done it there with both bitcoin and erthrium), have it sent to your desktop wallet.
First 2 times I did this it took less than 1/2 hour to complete, last time there was a problem on the exchange but once fixed it deposited to my wallet (48 hours, but they communicated with me and opened a support ticket to get it fixed)
There is a desktop wallet for Ripple, that way they're in your possession ... was easy to set up
Works the same way on Binance too ... did that this morning (it's not working on coinswap now though which is how I purchased last week)
Unfortunately Binance had put a hold on new accounts when I tried to sign up... I'll have to check again, would make things much easier
I'm in Washington State and had to get creative to buy it ....
I was able to download a hardware wallet to my computer and then purchase bitcoin through coinbase, swap the bitcoin for Ripple through coinswap and download to my hardware wallet ....
Thank you
Hi - I don't have pm so can't answer privately .. thank you for replying
Yes, I do know that, I actually owned it most of a year prior to spinoff which is why I questioned it. Did not receive any
Any idea how to get the spin off shares if they didn't show up in my account automatically? I bought in 2014 and didn't sell until a month ago ..... never received the spin-off
I "efiled" for a business license in the state of Washington. .. took nearly 3 weeks for someone to phone me and go over my application before sending it through ...... "efile" only means that the person submitting it typed the info in to expedite the process so that they don't have to have a clerk type it into their system.
It still needs to go through the same review process as a paper copy, which means a person needs to go over the info before sending it on to the next level .....
It's in! And that's been confirmed from what you say

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family ...
Fingers crossed for you!
Have you looked at IFCR? I've had it for a few months now (in at .0025), the chatter on the board has increased and sounds like a lot plan on buying tomorrow .. worth looking at if you haven't yet
It's a shame you weren't able to sell, hopefully when it starts again you'll be able to and still retain some profit
I've only been in one that was halted (CEHC) and it isn't good .. am thankful that I'd not put much into it .. not sure what's happening, it has sales from time to time (was put on the gray sheets) and have read that it's likely to be revoked completely
Oh, ouch! That had to be so exciting and then heartbreaking at the same time .. how long will it be halted?
That would be amazing ..
Have you ever gotten lucky like that?
It'd be so exciting to get in early on one of these runs .. shucks, maybe someday we'll crack it! Haha
Thanks
Hi Gary, hope you're well
How do you get lucky enough to find these? I've seen a few run, but never been in one ...
My son lives there too

My ex used to be stationed at 32nd street (20+ years ago) and that commissary was a zoo back then. I don't know how much it has changed, but at that time it serviced all of the other bases around too - if you look at a map there are others naval stations dotted around the San Diego harbor ....... it could be even bigger than most realize
