BGH.V -
The MM blinked first and filled me at $2.21!
BGH.V gap explanation:
I put in an order at $2.21 over the weekend. I still don't have any shares yet. The MM doesn't want me to have any. He wants me to pay "retail", but I'm too d*mn cheap.
<Energy is a non renewable resource, the demand for energy is growing faster than ever worldwide, no matter how many holes we drill>
Excellent post, nuts! For those with patience, the small capper oil/gas/drillers we discuss on this board will very probably be much higher within the space of 1 to 2 years.
I would substitute the term "oil and gas" instead of the word "energy" in your post...since there are energy sources that are renewable.
If you remember back in 1998 when oil was $10/barrel and everybody was predicting $5/barrel, I was buying because I saw that a lot of drilling had stopped due to it being uneconomical.
Now that the price of oil/gas is higher, many of those same areas where drilling stopped have become economical and drilling has resumed. At $50/barrel, extracting from oil sands now becomes economical. At higher prices per barrel, wind/solar and all sorts of other alternatives become economical.
Because it takes so long to switch the world from oil/gas to alternative energy, and because I agree with you about worldwide demand for energy is increasing faster than we can supply it, I think we are going to see dramatically higher prices before mankind can switch to different energy sources to reduce the demand for oil/gas. I just don't know how bad it will be, or for how long it will last, and how much of a shock to the system will happen.

Lentimen -
Here is one of my "can't predict the future" posts, which is appropriate right now:
This message board is mainly for fundamental analysis...what we think is VALUE.
I think TA is something you use to supplement fundamental analysis, not the other way around.
Many times there are two contradictory sayings for a given point in time.
"The early bird catches the worm" and "buy on the dips" seem appropriate for KSWW at this point in time.
"The early worm is caught by the bird" and "you'll get cut by the falling knife" are other sayings that could also be appropriate for KSWW at this point in time.
So which is it? None of can predict the future, so we don't know.
TA says it is oversold and we are dropping for that reason.
The fundamentals seem to show value (although I am swayed by your argument that a record backlog for a company in the construction industry isn't worth as much as a backlog in a different industry).
My feeling is that I am more of a "buy-n-holder" type than a "trader" type. Therefore, I have to put a lot more emphasis on fundamental analysis, and less on TA. Traders need to do the opposite.
KSWW -
Ok, I'm convinced. My first purchase at $3.25 filled this morning. I have a GTC order in at $3 for the same amount of shares.
As per policy on this fantastic message board, I will hold you personally responsible if I don't make money on this stock. :)
VPHM downgrade -
This downgrade smells very suspicious. Some "special" clients of Thomas Wei want to get in, and they need some people to sell so the special buyers don't run up the price.
<FRD new 52wk High today on already double the average volume.>
Do you have to rub it in? Or is my selling a stock the mother-of-all-buy-signals?
FRD and BGH.V -
Since nobody replied with more info on FRD, I sold my position at $7.50 yesterday. Naturally it is up to $7.85 today.
Anybody that has shares in FRD can thank me.
I'm going heavy into oil and gas now. Never got any BGH.V today...will have to up my bid.
BGHSF
Thanks. That did it. I'm going to try to snag a few thousand shares at $2.10. The last trade was $2.40 Canadian which converts to approx $2.08 US.
If ever there was a time to start loading up on CanRoys and other O&G investments, now is the time.
BGH.V
Do you (or Bobwins) know the symbol for trading it at Ameritrade?
I searched for "Bluegrouse", but nothing came up. I can get a Yahoo quote for BGH.V, but that symbol is not good on Ameritrade. Is there a pink sheet symbol for the stock?
FRD -
Haven't heard much from this board on FRD. Anybody hear anything about it recently?
He isn't pumping O S T K.
That is merely the company that is spearheading the fight against naked short selling.
I know a bit about this because I invested in N F I, which is also a stock that is heavily naked shorted (as well as large legitimate shorted).
The CEO of O S T K bought shares and requested delivery of a certificate, but the broker could not comply, since the stock has been conterfeited (i.e. naked short), there is no legitimate certificate available.
"FRD had good earnings, not as much of a pop as hoped for. Its one of those boring companies making money and paying a decent dividend. The type Warren Buffet might look at."
My type of company!! I've been into dividend payors big-time since 2000.
I got in at $7.05 the day after earnings announced (but before PR was issued).
It is always much easier to be patient with a stock that pays you to wait.
EGY -
To what do we owe this pleasant surprise for the stock price? Late last year we all agreed that this stock was most likely dead money until the second half of 2006.
I haven't seen any press releases that would explain the demand and subsequent rise in stock price.
LTFD -
I do like the numbers and the balance sheet. I'm concerned about the business they are in. How much money and growth is there in bingo parlors?
Also, can the numbers be trusted since so much of the business is cash-based?
HYE.V -
Finally I'm a shareholder, my GTC order filled at $1.28.
Anybody here do the selling?
<They predict the US to go from consuming 61.1 billion cubic feet per day of NG in 2004 to 43.0 billion cubic feet per day of NG in 2015 - a 30% decline in demand !!!
I would not consider any of this bullish.>
No, but it certainly can be considered to be pure fantasy, bordering on outright "praying for a miracle" type thinking.
OT Intel
I have some of my portfolio in Intel and Microsoft that I bought after the crash in 2000, figuring they were at the bottom.
Here we are 5 years later and they haven't budged from the so-called bottom, although I did collect a $3 divvy from Microsoft.
Back on-topic:
Choice is one of my smaller holdings as I'm not as comfortable with their potential as I am with RGY or DCL. Doesn't mean that it can't turn out to be the most profitable one though.
<And how would you get the stock price up before the warrants expire? Report a really good quarter!!! (I'm all for that)>
Is that all it takes for a stock price to go up??
Why doesn't every company just report a really good quarter?
Shame on Intel for not listening to you!
<g><g>
I have S D R L F on watch...I missed snagging some below $8, now I see it up above $10.
I missed EPEX at $20.10, the day it went to $20.15...sometimes my cheapness kills me.
I already have nice positions in RGY and DCL. Looking to establish a position hye.v and have had bids in for the past few days. But you bought 15K shares during that time period and dried up the market :))
I've been investing in CanRoys for several years now, and I fully appreciate that Bobwins came a little later to the party with his Canadian juniors. RGY looks like an easy double.
I don't know a whole lot about dcl.v, and I've come to trust Bobwins to the point that I feel comfortable riding his coattails without doing a huge due dilly myself.
HPEIF -
Been trying to get some at cheap prices, but you guys on this board keep outbidding me :))
Especially that 10bagger dude who went and bought 15,000 shares, drying up the market!!!
RGYLF is a good one, have had that one a while.
Anybody following DCL.V? That one is moving a little bit finally.
hye.v or hpeif.ob
Bobwins, why is there an OTC symbol for this stock and not the usual pink sheet symbol?
Usually dual-listed canadian stocks trade on NYSE and Toronto (e.g ERG, PGH, HTE).
I've never seen a dual-listed stock on OTC before.
EGY -
Let's hear some chatter on this oldie but goodie. Anybody holding EGY should be in the black now.
The stock price recovered quicker than we all expected...I like the straight-shooting management.
RGEN
That is why I only bought 1,000 shares at $2.95. If I could have predicted that I was "buying low" back then, I would have bought more. I guess I made a mistake by not buying more.
If I sell on Tuesday at $4, will I be "selling high"?
What if 6 months from now RGEN is selling for $10....that means selling at $4 would be bad, and instead buying at $4 would be "buying low".
I'm so confused...
<the major mistakes I made were 1) didn't sell ngas at the peak 2) didn't take profit on VPHM after the Q3 earning as planned(I loaded up VPHM and its options before the earning release). Wish I can take these back, lost at least 30% at these costly mistakes.>
I've seen a lot of posts like these around the net. They basically boil down to "If I could have predicted the future back when I had a chance, I would have acted differently".
Even if you predicted the peak in NG before it happened, it still would have been some luck involved. The future holds unexpected events.
I get just as irritated by people that say "buy low, sell high". To do that accurately, you need to see into the future.
CKCM -
It is so hard to buy it at $21, when in the past I bought it at $5 and sold it at $7.
Logically I should be able to overcome that, but emotionally I can't.
DRCLF -
You got a good deal at .413.
I had to pay .435 this morning to get my initial position.
Now I'll leave a few lowball bids in (under .40).
I also like both DRLCF and RGYLF.
I wholeheartedly concur that HWEB IS THE MAN!
He is a nimble trader. When he picks winners, he gets in at extreme undervaluation levels. He is quick enough (and not a pig) to get out when it reaches regular undervaluation. Goes onto the next extreme undervaluation.
Since I have to work for a living, I can't be a nimble trader, so I keep the HWEB winners after he exits and pick up another 25 - 50%.
Doesn't always work that way (nobody is perfect), but it does enough times to keep me in the black.
MERRY XMAS HWEB!!! (and everyone else that makes this the best board anywhere).
AEY -
You did the right thing buying HWEB shares.
On HWEB winners, he gets in very early when it is extremely undervalued, then exits as it becomes plain old undervalued (my definition: 10 PE on the last quarter's EPS....at 15 cents, that gives a 60 cent projected year, discounting any growth, times 10 is $6 stock).
The momo players will get this one and take it 50 - 100% higher.
I will lighten up at $8, and it won't surprise me to see this at $12.
AEY -
What do you consider "fair value" stock price for AEY?
I'm thinking at least $6.
That is a good strategy. I have my lottery shares now, and I'll join you if a firm announcement is made with the licensing issue.
RGEN was first introduced here by MSGI, of the VPHM fame.
I think MSGI got stopped out of RGEN.
RGEN -
Finally bought back in a small position at $2.94.
Kinda like a lottery ticket.
Seems to hold the $3 level pretty well.
Choice Energy - CZE
There is a post on the Choice board about insider selling after a recent disappointment. I missed it...what happened that was disappointing?
I missed something...what was the disappointing news?
PDGE -
It seems that as soon as they get some good momentum going, they do one of those "screw-the-current-shareholders" private placements, loaded with cheap warrants.
I've been through it twice, and decided to stay away from the stock. A trader could make some money, but I'm a buy-n-holder.
SILCF -
No, I sold out shortly after hweb, therefore the causing the strong rise in share price you are now witnessing.
About the only sector which I time well is the oil/gas stocks.
SILCF
<Wish I'd held a bit longer>
So that is why it went up recently! My selling today may not cause it to go up from here. Your selling trumps my selling.
:))
SILCF -
Surprised nobody is mentioning this one. It has made a nice move, up 50% from recent lows.
I'm going to take some profits on this one, making it a good buy signal for the rest of you.
Rival Energy -
I'm about to add to my oil/gas stocks. This one has very little news available. Any reason not to buy more of this one?
I bought more SQEFF (Sequoia) this morning. They are doing nicely for a trust created 6 months ago.
