Looks to me like they are moving their money out of stocks completely and going to fixed income securities. Amarin happens to be a stock, just like all the others. The old adage keeps coming back, "when the cops raid the whorehouse, they take all the girls."
Picked up a small amount today in my long term account at 3.39. I'll wait for JT to buy before I load up in my trading account.

You been listening to Clay?
Ever consider that if results are good, the company will do ANOTHER issue at $10?
Don't see this conference as a real eye opener for most. AMRN have already dispensed their info last week and there probably isn't a lot of earth shattering news to come out. Also, would be surprised if there is a big gathering because at 5 PM, most attendees would have fled the conference and hit the bar or party suites. Same thing happened last year, if I recall correctly.
Raf,
While I agree with you, you're a little late on the uptake on this one. Try 119186 last Monday.
Don’t remember my ldl number off the top of my head, but will find it. Haven’t had a bmi read in a couple of years, but last was around 21% and not much has changed. Never had a nash read. Matter of fact, have a date with the surgeon Jan 9, left knee ??
Kiwi,
Correct, 2 stents, 4 years ago (this March). Been on 4 gms of Omegavia for almost 3 years. Have had no issues whatsoever (touch wood). I’m on no statins (can’t tolerate them) and my trigs have come down from 235 to 85 over this period of time. EPA:AA ratio 1.7:1. Being able to play squash 3 times a week, curl 3 times a week feels great. Do I want to be revascularized, or worse; NO. At 62 I still have things to do and grandkids to watch grow up.
You may be correct about certain subgroups benefiting more than others, but so far, in my own personal trial, I am a winner to date and I think that the delay in the reporting period is due to success of the drug on the main test group

It could just be coincidence, but I’m not a firm believer in that. JT’s purchase a couple of years ago was extremely timely in terms of a stock price increase not too much later. While it has not been too long since his last purchase, we are starting to see life in the stock again. Will history repeat itself again?
Kiwi,
If I were a 67 yr old, with stents and was still alive after taking paraffin for 6 years, I would probably think that I was taking Vascepa in the trial. Why would I want to bail on the trial. If paraffin was that bad, I should be dead?
Thanks for the heads up FFS, I made some money on your call. Some may not like/agree with what you post, but taken with other info, your TA has been pretty astute.
My apologies, what was I thinking, I should defer to your infinite wisdom!
Have to agree with you this time, FFS. With no news for the next couple of months, no reason that the stock won't continue to drift lower now that it has broken the up trend. Overall market looks suspicious at the moment. I'm with you on the SPY, short at 239
Kiwi,
Not wanting to nit pick, but wouldn't that be > 2.5 according to Dr. Sears method?
On a personal note, just got back my one year report from Dr. Sears. AA:EPA ratio unchanged at 1.7 and AA and EPA amounts were virtually unchanged. Have now been on Omega Via for just under 2 years and feel great. One day, perhaps Vascepa will be available to all of us.
Hitting technical resistance?
Perhaps Larry is a little concerned about John being Chairman of the event? In terms of money given to the Association, last year, Bristol Myers and Pfizer gave the Association the same amount of money as Amarin, but Merck and Novartis gave more. On top of that, Regeneron was the lead sponsor of the event and ponied up the most money. It's a shame that certain "authors" don't treat all companies the same, wonder why?
cbb, I think the really smart investors are already on board at $1.50. The more the merrier though.
Nuke,
I've been taking Omega Via EPA 500 for almost 2 years (since Kiwi recommended it to me). Unfortunately, living in Canada, Vascepa is not available to us. Since taking Omega Via, my EPA:AA ratio has dropped to 1.7:1 and stayed within this range (testing by Dr. Sears). I usually break one capsule with each purchase (3 bottles per purchase) to check if it smells rancid. To date, I have not opened one that has had me second guess my decision to take up Kiwi's suggestion.
Raf, this choice may not be as ideal as Vascepa and doesn't help our script numbers, but it has certainly helped me achieve an objective that was otherwise not available to me.
This off CNBC this morning. No mention of Omega's what-so-ever

Not wanting to get into a debate over what the company is/may be worth in the not too distant future, I don't believe that the 'tutes (Baker in particular) would not be expecting a ten bagger from their initial investment. If the other, more recent purchasers expect the same before approving a buyout offer, then we could be north of $20 quite easily. As much as JL and others believe the company may be better to go it alone, I tend to think that the 'tutes would prefer to take their money and look for something else that would give them a shorter return.

Not since march. Wii have another test in feb, 2017z
Py,
I certainly may have misread the article, but I didn't see the amount of epa in the "fish oil" used in the study. For that matter, I didn't see the dha amount either.
Hawk,
There were 2 conversions, one for 118M with Corsicanto and one for 31M with another group of investors. I am interested in the Corsicanto conversion because Amarin owns 100% of the shares.
Corsicanto is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amarin. Amarin owns 100% of the shares. Agreed, the smaller conversion was with arms length entities, but I'm not talking about them, only Corsicanto
Sorry, but I don't understand your response. I'm talking about a wholly owned subsidiary of Amarin, not an arm's length company(ies).
To the financial guys on this board: Being a wholly owned subsidiary, is there any possibility of the converted shares being cancelled in the treasury some how? The new CFO has shown some creative ways to improve the Balance Sheet, is this possibly another one that could happen?
Sorry STS. As we know, Corsicanto is Amarin, for all intents and purposes, hence, either one way or the other Amarin was initiating the exercise. Two, Amarin did initiate the other conversion:
Quote:
On August 26, 2016, Amarin Corporation plc (the “Company”) gave notice to mandatorily exchange the $31.266 million in aggregate principal amount of its November 2015 3.50% Exchangeable Senior Notes due 2032 (the “2015 Notes”) into 384.6154 of the Company’s American Depositary Shares (the “Shares”) representing a corresponding number of the Company’s ordinary shares, par value £0.50 per share (the “Ordinary Shares”), per $1,000.00 of principal amount of the 2015 Notes on September 12, 2016, subject to certain adjustments as provided in the 2015 Notes.
Technically, Amarin forced the conversion, the noteholders didn't choose to convert. The fact that Corsicanto is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amarin is interesting.
If Corsicanto is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amarin, why the rush to do this? BB had their notes converted, so was a condition on this happening to them that it had to happen to Corsicanto as well? There seems to be a nifty little level of cooperation between BB and Amarin over the last few years. Does this allow BB and Corsicanto (Amarin?) to receive any upside to a stock price move, whereas a change of control would have only given them their money back? Interesting things to consider, especially if you are short. Have a great weekend.
Management must have heard you Mog, they have certainly addressed the "massive debt". All of the sudden the balance sheet just got an awful lot cleaner.
How about within a week of 1A happening, whenever that will be.
If you do say so yourself? Amarin is holding pretty well, considering the fallout. No real volume, but one thing I learned a long time ago, stocks don't need much volume to drop. Still a ways to go before it hits the moving averages. If it breaks them, trouble could loom, but I only see that happening if the market continues to be punished severely.
Not beating my chest Raf, TA said it was very over bought and needed a breather. Sorry you don't believe in this "voodoo" analysis.
Raf,
Who'd have thought, you were right. The stock is under bought, but your math was incorrect, the potential ROI in as early as a month or two is almost 17x (does that mean that the stock price has dropped?)Couldn't have been over bought, short term, could it have been?
FFF, sorry, I thought it was blood. Good trade Kiwi. The stock needs a breather, it is pretty overbought.
While I am still luke warm about this management team and their Board, I am continually amazed at how they keep surprising all of us without any warning about "news". We try to pry information out of IR, but get stonewalled, most times. With the exception of the BB investment, the stock has not shown any expectation of news for the last 2-3 years. I have been around for a long enough time to have seen hundreds of stocks move, up or down, in advance of information that eventually came out, not so with Amarin. Not that the stock price has shown appreciable moves, one way or the other, but the fact that when information is released, it is a complete surprise to the market. Perhaps an investor lawsuit has made this happen, but what they release on an interim basis just wets our appetite for things to come.
We continually talk about when the DMC decision will drop, if and when they will have to refinance, will they partner again, be acquired, go it alone, go legal again. One thing I feel confident about is that whenever these things happen, they will always be out of the blue and unexpected in their timing.
Careful JL, you are going to get Marzan and Raf all pumped up again.
Amarin or FDA?
Kiwi,
LDL 4 months ago was 135, trigs 105. I go to the cardiologist next month for my next set of numbers and a stress test. Like Vascepa, Livalo is not available in Canada. I did that enquiry last month, as a matter of fact. I wish that I could get OmegaVia for $60/month. Once it is shipped from the States, duty and taxes paid, the cost is about $120 per month (CDN).
