Agenus (AGEN) will be presenting Friday at the ESMO conference, a major oncology event. The general thinking has been that this will be a "Sell on the News" event, with profit taking from the runup from 4 to the low 5's. You never know though, people selling now may be chasing.
Maybe they can sign Justin Kellenic in 2027 for 300M now.
AGEN (5.28 +.29) seems to be catching some momentum from the IMMU buyout.
Well, AGEN (5.19, up 24%) ended up with almost 20M shares traded. Motley Fool came out in the afternoon attributing it to an appearance scheduled in a couple of weeks at a major oncology conference.
We'll see.
AGEN continuing the move, now solidly over 5. Speculation on the Yahoo board of a leak from an upcoming presentation, but nothing concrete.
AGEN 4.73 up .53. Somewhat of a breakout from the 4 area. Immuno-oncology start-up biotech company. There was some sort of investor conference yesterday. It has been talked up on the BMY board from time to time. Supposedly a pretty rich pipeline.
VIAC up 3% to 29.4 on deal with iHeart media. The stock has been unusually sturdy the last few days. Good for the 30's?
Looks like the boring stocks are having their day. BBY, VIAC, CVS
BMY is another one.
The Yahoo board there is pretty quiet. Seems like almost as many people there are pumping AGEN as talking about BMY.
KGC rallying,
bbotcs, Just wondering..Do you get actual checks sent to you on dividend payout days? I hardly notice dividends when they arrive unless I'm specifically looking for them. As for "income", that happens when I write myself checks to charge up the bank account.
I exited on the same halt at 46 (from 18) limit 43. It was just lunch money for me though.
Board favorite AMD has been doing well too :)
Yeah, I see that now, thanks.
Oh, okay, thanks.
BGFV - Their mention of 1.0 to 1.3 is the EPS estimate for the full year?
They say for the quarter, but right after say the q is at 0.3.
Motley Fool has positive articles out on NRZ and BMR this morning. Of course, they end them with "Here are 10 stocks we like better", with a link
to subscribe. Have any here found subscriptions here worthwhile?
Looks like the drug companies are down today on Trump pushing some drug pricing initiatives. Still in BMY?
INTC down 8.6% AH on their ER which beat, but mentioned a delay in a new chip process.
In reaction: AMD +7.03%, NVDA -.56% after an initially more significant drop
and SOXS +1.7%
How will this play out in the morning?
Looking forward to CETX becoming a vaccine play.
AMD outperforming NVDA for a change.
Probably a bit extreme, but Trump's use of Federal troops in Portland, and threat to place them in other "liberal" cities, could be a precursor of a post-election defeat coup (a la Handmaid's Tale).
PVAC also has an operational update out this morning, noting a free cash flow positive quarter when factoring in hedges.
Wade, BGFV.. I guess I missed a few posts, but thought you were a BGFV naysayer at 2.6.
SSK ... COWNZ I don't see an ex-dividend day listed on Yahoo or my brokerage. How does the 7.35% yield come about? Thanks.
Okay, fair enough. My own view is that this sort of basket makes sense in order to diversify from a portfolio that has taken on a degree of risk.
I don't know if it does to the same extent from an otherwise highly defensive stance though. Just thinking to myself.
COWNZ - Just to play devil's advocate here, COWNZ took a huge hit in early March. Is it really safer than simply scaling into XOM? I know it's just a component of a basket, but liquidity issues could come into play at some point.
I'm in CPSH as well, but didn't take it seriously enough at first with only about a half percent position to start. It's kind of in the background for me most of the time, but no complaints, at least so far.
Wade, I appreciate your bringing HZNP to the board, probably 2 years plus ago, right? It has been a big winner for me, although I've only been playing it at around the 5% level, trading, but holding on most of the time. As I recall, you advised us strongly to sell around 33 because of some strong resistance level that you were worried about, right? :)
You've generally had a positive tone towards it, but probably as many sell recs as buys along the way.
I've also played the short ETF's. Lost a bundle on these (maybe 3-4% of my combined accounts), but somehow they've prompted counter trades with tech and the like that have more than made up for it. So, in a sense I guess they may have helped.
Not much talk on TOMZ today. I can remember when more than half of the posts here were about it.
NFLX - Been getting discs from them for over 20 years. Started "gallantly streaming" via Amazon Prime and a ROKU device a few months ago. Just activated a free trial of NFLX streaming. My initial impression.. While there are a few original series "The Crown", "Grace and Frankie", the new "Unsolved Mysteries", "Ozark" and a few more that might appeal to younger people; Stranger Things, Bojack Horseman, etc., it seems somewhat hit and miss with respect to simply providing movies. Search for most any movie of the past and odds are there will be a message of "available on disc only". If I'm just after the movies, that's going to be a problem. Overall, there may be about twice the content here as Amazon Prime, but I tend to like the latter a little more (Mr. Maisel, Tales of the Loop, Homecoming, Hannah)
NJ is adding "probably Coronavirus deaths" to their total, adding 1854 on a day when there were 26 new confirmed deaths. I wonder if this will throw off the Johns Hopkins numbers and skew the stats.
BXRX - Posts on Yahoo last night implied that the Robinhood clan were getting involved. There was a slight gap up this morning and a late day rally +12%.
Well, for me, some stocks are fine at a 1% level, but I wouldn't feel comfortable at 3%, particularly in the microcap realm. I don't really care about the number of shares people have, but sometimes get curious about how they're playing it.
Well, I suppose you're right. I'm mostly referring to "bought more" posts though. This doesn't mean much without context, right? I guess it's just a way of reminding people of the stock.
I'm not really dwelling on this issue, but "bought more" posts in general are kind of a pet peeve. Not for you and Hweb, but for others they can be somewhat on the hyping side.
Not specific to CODA, but what I wonder sometimes is are these sort of "accumulations" on the order of 0.1%, 0.25% or 1% at a time, or more. It's really the level of commitment that means something rather than repeated nibbling. The often heard "Bought more" doesn't really mean much without context.
I don't know, but considering all of the money on the sidelines a selloff might be healthier than a Gap/Crap situation.
In the end, things calm down. The "movers and shakers" aren't that tied to PE anyway and I think taxes will eventually be mentally factored out of the equation. Not having daily Tweets to worry should help, along with simply not having to worry about the election anymore.
Remember in 2012 how everyone was predicting a huge drop in energy stocks
if Obama got reelected. In the end it's back to business in a day or two.
APT???
Anyone following CLIR? It went up about 320% for awhile yesterday on a contract with Exxon before giving up about 40% of it in the afternoon.
Soared this morning from 2.37 into the 4's, and now back to a bit over 3.
MBIO - Correction - It was the company president who made the purchase, not the CEO.
