Raf,
He is currently on the wrong side of a trade, hence the negativity.
It would seem that Lovaza would have the problem not Vascepa. Vascepa is altered because the DHA is removed and the EPA is enhanced. It is not in a natural state.

Don't concentrate on foods, think preservatives. There was a time food was made tastier and preserved by using fats. Then it was changed to sugars, and corn oil. They also happen to be cheap. General Mills alone has much more money than was the whole Tobacco industry combined. Everyone eats, not everyone smoked so once the problems are exposed they will be known to be much more wide spread. People were addicted to smoking, but everyone has to eat and if everything you find in the grocery store is preserved in this manner how do you prevent what you know is hurting you? Heart attacks, cancer, diabetes and many other diseases may be found to originate from the foods we eat. This is much more damagingly than smoking alone. Once insurance companies start to realize many of the illnesses they pay to treat originate in many cases from the foods we eat change will be inevitable. 1/6th of this countries GNP is tied up in health care cost and if much of it can be prevented and stretched out to a longer period of time eventually it will have to be.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and much less expensive.
Another thought. I have read about a pharma. company being targeted because of people being addicted by taking Opiod pain killers and claiming it was safe. If that can happen then the food industry may not be as safe and immune from prosecution for damages as you may think.
That is what they said about the Tobacco industry also, but it was insiders, those who knew that the industry itself knew how harmful that Tobacco was to the body and ignored it for the money. Industry scientist do testing on products all the time, yet I have not heard of insiders saying a thing. I wonder why that is. Doesn't the FDA regulate the Food industry? Has Amarin not had problems with the FDA? Follow the money, and you will find the guilty.
Zip,
Yes I agree. Now that Vascepa helps to prove that inflammation is the source of many problems the next logical step will be to determine the sources of inflammation, which IMO in far too many cases comes from the foods we consume. I believe the food industries could be hit very hard by letting that cat out of the bag. Have they known all along that they have been harming people, if so, are they financially responsible? That would seem to be of a great concern for many.
Don't know exactly when this came out, haven't had time to read it.

Anyone know why the surge in price today?
I have not found any news yet.
Recover from what...a long holiday weekend. Next week will be off a little also.
I blame it on my spell checker, it either worked ( wrong ) and changed it, or didn't work and did nothing. Wink
Ignorance and those that take advantage of it. I'll give you just one example of it. Do you know the most expensive war the U.S has ever been involved in? 1964 Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty. It was suppose to give people a hand up to get them started on the path to a more productive life. There are differing estimates of its cost to date one is 22 Trillion dollars, recently Speaker Paul Ryan was quoted as saying 15 Trillion dollars. Never the less, can anyone think of another country that would be willing to spend so much to help unfortunate citizens. When you give to one group of people you have to take from another group. And it takes a lot of taxes, and benefits to add up to 15-22 Trillion dollars. To me, it is like a slap in the face of hard working, praceful Americans to witness all of the selfish, thoughtless violence in our streets because these young people do not have the ability to understand who is responsible for their predicament. The drug dealers, who steal their money and souls, their unknown fathers who they never met who abandoned their sometimes very young mothers. The first rule of war is to recognize the enemy. If you can't do that and aimlessly swing at anyone all you will accomplish is make enemies needlessly. I love my country and it hurts to see it come to this, but people had better wake up soon before it is too late because the silent majority is losing patience.
P.S.
If you added the cost of all wars since the Revolutionary war they would not equal the cost of the war on poverty. So no one should ever say that this country is heartless but unfortunately many of its people are.

I look at it as a dictatorship disguised as a people's republic. Who could possibly buy into the concept after a monster like Stalin.
So, the whole patent system should be scrapped? It exits because it promotes innovation, creates ingenuity and is an integral component of Capitalism. Why would inventors and innovators create if all their years of toil and monies spent not be protected by offering years of return. Not too much creativity comes from communism.
How can you take advantage of others to your benefit if you do that? Why else would someone's partner in crime admit that he sold near $4.00 and continue to post and ridicule.
North,
I saw that and posted it last week, or so I thought, Don't know what happened to it. Anyway, it seems the good doctor really gets involved in his investments suspiciously like a real stock player. Perhaps he's like doctor Phil and has a PHD in being a con artist, not a real doctor.
Thanks STS,
I thought someone said that but I didn't know the context.
STS,
Why are they seeking products prior to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. I am assuming those companies would be immune from prosecution and may also invalidate Amarins patent?
This guy is no doctor. He may have flunked out of medical school and developed the sick mind set of a shorter. Their traits always come shinning through, they just can't help themselves.
DM,
I remember reading about the statement, but as BB stated it could have been Woodcock, instead of Hamburg. One of the two anyway. Unfortunately, my memory isn't what it fairly recently once was. I have had many health issues in the past several years that may have taken a toll and retirement has affected it also to some extent.
BB,
You may be right about Woodcock.I remember it being said by one or the other of the two.
BB,
I believe it was Hamburg who stated after the rescinding of Anchor that Amarin should sell Vascepa as a supplement. Of course there were other opportunities to state such before Amarin spent all of this money testing Vascepa so it does appear that they will not go out of their way to assist Amarin. Amarin has some great legal minds that being said, I think Amarin will prevail yet again. This company has very good management and is the primary reason I remain invested. They have overcome many obstacles and they seem to have a very strong and have thus far presented a very intelligent, well thought out set of arguments in the current matter.
BB,
All doctor's stick together
More Revenue? Which they need after an already very expensive RI trial.
Thanks Sam
STS,
One good thing that came from the situation is that I found out how much my wife loved me. Hehehe.
STS,
What you are really saying is that you find the situation today acceptable. Those doctors in Baltimore wouldn't be driving around handing out scripts, or prescribing 750 k a year in opioids if people were not first addicted.
I took pain medication for my knee replacement. My progress was slow and my company allowed me 7 weeks off for physical therapy, which was very painful ( we all have different degrees of pain tolerance ) before my last week of therapy my therapist said we were going to have to step up the routine if I was going to be able to go back to work on time, so in the morning of my last day I took one extra pill after therapy because if these pills are strong I wouldn't be feeling the pain. That evening and the next day I took none, began to feel antsy but I contributed that to my going back to work on Monday morning. Went out to diner over the weekend with family and friends which included a young friend of my son. He ordered Surf and Turf which for some reason upset me. Fortunately I kept it too myself, but I began to wonder why it bothered me so much. Thankfully we turned down an invitation to our friends house after diner. When I got home the movie Pearl Habor was on the TV and when they showed the attack scenes I couldn't look at it. My wife asked what was wrong, and I said all of this violence upsets me. She said, since when? You like these kind of movies. She said you took an extra pill yesterday and said you were having hiluciations, how many did you take today? I said, none. She's a nurse. She told me she was going to go downstairs on the computer and check out the opioid I was taking. While she was gone. I noticed a drink on the coffee table, I thought, what is that doing there, I didn't put it there, she is putting something in there to make me feel this way. Where is she at now? She went to the phone to call the police, I thought. She came back and I asked her if she called the police on me. She said, no I checked on your medication. Do you realize that it is not unusual for people to get addicted on this medication after only two weeks of being on it. She said, how do you feel now. I said, I feel like I have to sit on this sofa because if I get up, I am going to run around the house and pull my hair out. She said, you are going through a withdrawl because you never took your medication today. She said, we'll give you half a pill and slowly get you off the medication. I said no, I don't want anymore of those pills. She stayed up with me all night, the next day I was just a little antsy. I took another week of unpaid leave because I wasn't able to work while going through the complete withdrawl. One extra pill did all of that. If I took more pills while I was hulucinating I don't remember. That is how people are getting addicted in such large numbers. Those drugs are much too dangerous. The epidemic it is causing is much more expensive to treat than the cost of having professionals dose it.
My wife is now In charge of nursing for some addiction clinics in our county so she sees first hand how devastating it is for people and families. I was lucky that I chose, with her help, to stop it right away, many don't.

Of next week beginning the 14th.
STS,
I love my country because IMO it is the best in the world in many ways but, it also has some serious problems and the more serious ones are based in greed. I have never felt for instance that self administration of Opiods was a very intelligent idea. I believe those in the medical community should have banded together and demanded that it be stopped long before the epidemic it has caused has reached such dramatic proportions. We have to be alert to such things, smarter, and realize that there exist factions that don't feel the same about our country as I, and many like thinking people do. I could go into politics from1992 to 2016 and point out obvious examples but I won't. "Evil exist when good men ( and women ) do nothing" I believe my country has been blessed because it was based unpon strong Judio, Christian values unfortunately not so much any longer.
If it is proven that Vascepa is effective because of its anti-inflammatory mechanism then eventually it will point to what has been causing inflammation in the first place. We all are being slowly poisoned by our abundant food supply. Sugar, wheat, flour, soy oils, corn oils, vegetable oils to name a few are used in western diet food processing and preparation. Big money, with many lobbyist could be the reason for Amarins difficulties for the last 5-6 yrs. Bad science involved in Anchor rescinding was an excuse, not a reason ?
Restocking ?
later, would indicate a time other than, or sometime past current. Late, would indicate near the end of a certain period of time. They seem to use their words very thoughtfully ( not thoughtfully towards us of course ) to not indicate much.
STS,
SAIC- Science Applications International Corporation was a large top 10 government contracting company that was started by a nuclear physicist and has since branched out by purchasing smaller companies in many varingly fields of expertise. They were employee owned through stock purchases and became publicly owned soon after I was employed by them. They do everything under the sun from oil field services, telecommunications, software, and many others and are present in most federal agencies and some public non government companies up to and including DOD. I worked at DOE in telecommunications where I had my own small contracting company and then was hired as an employee of SAIC. Each company operated under its own individual structure kind of in the same manor as Warren Buffets organization. I understand that under the Obama administration it had become very difficult for them. Hopefully, it will become much better for them soon.
JL,
I believe the Jelis trial and the RI trial in combination of data will illustrate how much more harmful the western diet is vs Japanese diet. Which IMO accounts for a great deal of the obstruction Amarin has encountered along the way.
Are Options Traders Betting on a Big Move in Amarin (AMRN) Stock?
Zacks
Zacks Equity Research
ZacksAugust 4, 2017
Investors in Amarin Corporation plc AMRN need to pay close attention to the stock based on moves in the options market lately. That is because the August 18, 2017, $7Call had some of the highest implied volatility of all equity options today.
What is Implied Volatility?
Implied volatility shows how much movement the market is expecting in the future. Options with high levels of implied volatility suggest that investors in the underlying stocks are expecting a big move in one direction or the other. It could also mean there is an event coming up soon that may cause a big rally or a huge sell off. However, implied volatility is only one piece of the puzzle when putting together an options trading strategy.
What do the Analysts Think?
Clearly, options traders are pricing in a big move for Amarin shares, but what is the fundamental picture for the company? Currently, Amarin is a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) in the Medical - Biomedical and Genetics industry that ranks in the Top 42% of our Zacks Industry Rank. Over the last 60 days, 1 analysts have increased their earnings estimates for the current quarter, while none have dropped their estimates. The net effect has taken our Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current quarter from a loss of 6 cents per shareto a loss of 5 cents in that period.
Given the way analysts feel about Amarin right now, this huge implied volatility could mean there’s a trade developing. Often times, options traders look for options with high levels of implied volatility to sell premium. This is a strategy many seasoned traders use because it captures decay. At expiration, the hope for these traders is that the underlying stock does not move as much as originally expected.

North,
Statisics can be maneuvered in such a manner as to tell a story however one, especially one with big money, wants. I will say this, the general public will never truly know how much harm the food and drug industries have intentially caused for profit, atleast not in our lfetime. How much time and money was expended to prove how harmful Tabasco was to the human body. Sugars, wheat, flour, corn oils to name a few play havoc on our intervascular systems, causing inflammation leading to cholesterol blockages. So many years we were lead to believe that cholesterol was the main culprit and now we are suppose to believe that science is just now discovering that inflammation is causing the cholesterol to clog as if the inflammation was never noticed. Why do we suppose for instance that there was such a hard push against a drug like Vascepa? Could it have been because it will slowly open a door to peek in and start to reveal things that those with a huge monetary interest don't want revealed just like the Tabboco industry. Self administration of Opioids has devastated our Health Care industry and plain and simple it was done much more for money than to relieve one's pain. Pain is the excuse and money was/is the reason.
One suggestion I would make is to force generics to pay out of their profits to the innovator company to reimburse the high cost of bringing product to market. Furthermore, question why a drug like Vascepa is approved for high trig levels but not for moderate trig levels. It makes under those circumstances absolutely no sense to rescind the Anchor SPA, as if an ounce of prevention is not worth a pound of cure. How could this line of thinking not be questioned ? And they want to look at ways to make drugs more competitive to bring down prices. Get rid of the corruption in the FDA and quit making excuses for that behavior and looking at other means to clean up the mess. You can't ignore greed and corruption and think you will fix the problems. How many physicans did not think that self administration of opioids was a bad idea? That boner alone has created health care catastrophes, again greed and collusion. These people are no better than illegal drug dealers. Food and drug industries have become self perpetrating money making machines and as long as that situation exist health care cost will only continue to grow larger than the astronomical 1/6th of our economy that it is today.
