Pedophilia More Common Among 'Gays'
Research Purports To Reveal
'Dark Side' Of Homosexual Culture
By Jon Dougherty
© 2002 WorldNetDaily.com
http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=27431
Child molestation and pedophilia occur far more commonly among homosexuals than among heterosexuals on a per capita basis, according to a new study.
"Overwhelming evidence supports the belief that homosexuality is a sexual deviancy often accompanied by disorders that have dire consequences for our culture," wrote Steve Baldwin in, "Child Molestation and the Homosexual Movement," soon to be published by the Regent University Law Review.
Baldwin is the executive director of the Council for National Policy in Washington, D.C.
"It is difficult to convey the dark side of the homosexual culture without appearing harsh," wrote Baldwin. "However, it is time to acknowledge that homosexual behavior threatens the foundation of Western civilization the nuclear family."
Though the homosexual community and much of the media scoff at such accusations, Baldwin who chaired the California Assembly's Education committee, where he fought against support for the homosexual agenda in the state's public schools says in his report that homosexual activists' "efforts to target children both for their own sexual pleasure and to enlarge the homosexual movement" constitute an "unmistakable" attack on "the family unit."
Baldwin's research is substantiated in a recently completed body of work written by http://drjudithreisman.org/ Dr. Judith Reisman, president of the Institute for Media Education and author of numerous authoritative books debunking sexual myths, including "Kinsey, Crimes & Consequences."
In her thesis also written for the Regent University Law Review Reisman cited psychologist Eugene Abel, whose research found that homosexuals "sexually molest young boys with an incidence that is occurring from five times greater than the molestation of girls. "
Abel also found that non-incarcerated "child molesters admitted from 23.4 to 281.7 acts per offender whose targets were males."
"The rate of homosexual versus heterosexual child sexual abuse is staggering," said Reisman, who was the principal investigator for an $800,000 Justice Department grant studying child pornography and violence. "Abel,s data of 150.2 boys abused per male homosexual offender finds no equal (yet) in heterosexual violations of 19.8 girls."
Jay Heavener, spokesman for http://www.pflag.org/ PFLAG - Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, counters that federal crime data refute claims that homosexuals molest children at higher rates than heterosexuals.
"According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), this claim is false," he told WND by e-mail. "The gay and lesbian community calls into question any dubious research which flies in the face of our own experience."
And Gary Schoener, a clinical psychologist who has been diagnosing and treating clergy abuse for 28 years, told Salon.com, "There are far more heterosexual cases than homosexual."
In terms of sheer numbers, that may be true. But in terms of numbers of children abused per offender, homosexuals abuse with far greater frequency; and boys, research shows, are the much-preferred target.
Baldwin says evidence he examined disproves the assertion that child molestation is more prevalent among heterosexuals. Both he and Reisman found that media coverage of adult homosexual abuse of minors is also slanted.
"The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) recently boasted that although homosexuals are less than two percent of the population, three-fourths of the people who decide the content of the front page of the New York Times are homosexual," Reisman wrote.
That one fact is especially noteworthy, experts point out, given the recent child sex scandals taking place within the American Catholic church.
A survey by WorldNetDaily of recent news reports found that rarely did the media describe priestly sexual abuse as "homosexual" or "gay" activity even though the worst incidents involved male-to-male contact, and a spate of investigative reports has revealed that the Vatican is concerned about an upsurge of homosexuals in seminary schools throughout the world.
Gay press promotes sex with children
Baldwin says his research not only "confirms that homosexuals molest children at a rate vastly higher than heterosexuals," but it found that "the mainstream homosexual culture" even "commonly promotes sex with children."
"The editorial board of the leading pedophile academic journal, Paidika, is dominated by prominent homosexual scholars such as San Francisco State University professor John DeCecco, who happens to edit the Journal of Homosexuality," Baldwin wrote.
During his research, he also found:
* The Journal of Homosexuality recently published a special double-issue entitled, "Male Intergenerational Intimacy," containing many articles portraying sex between men and minor boys as loving relationships. One article said parents should look upon the pedophile who loves their son "not as a rival or competitor, not as a theft of their property, but as a partner in the boy's upbringing, someone to be welcomed into their home."
* In 1995 the homosexual magazine "Guide" said, "We can be proud that the gay movement has been home to the few voices who have had the courage to say out loud that children are naturally sexual" and "deserve the right to sexual expression with whoever they choose. " The article went on to say: "Instead of fearing being labeled pedophiles, we must proudly proclaim that sex is good, including children's sexuality we must do it for the children's sake."
* Larry Kramer, the founder of ACT-UP, a noted homosexual activist group, wrote in his book, "Report from the Holocaust: The Making of an AIDS Activist": "In those instances where children do have sex with their homosexual elders, be they teachers or anyone else, I submit that often, very often, the child desires the activity, and perhaps even solicits it."
* In a study of advertisements in the influential homosexual newspaper, The Advocate, Reisman found ads for a "Penetrable Boy Doll available in three provocative positions. She also found that the number of erotic boy images in each issue of The Advocate averaged 14.
* Homosexual newspapers and travel publications advertise prominently for countries where boy prostitution is heavy, such as Burma, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Homosexuality 'youth-oriented'?
"Research on the homosexual lifestyle confirms it is almost exclusively a youth-oriented culture," Baldwin wrote. "Very few gays exhibit preference for older men."
"Some admit to focus on teenage boys," he said, "some on prepubescent boys, and many cross over between categories."
A 1988 study detailed in Baldwin's report found that most pedophiles even consider themselves to be "gay." According to the study, "Archives of Sexual Behavior," some 86 percent of pedophiles described themselves as homosexual or bisexual. Also, the study found, the number of teenage male prostitutes who identify as homosexuals has risen from 10 percent to 60 percent in the past 15 years.
When asked what he thought about critics who attempt to debunk his research, Baldwin said the results speak for themselves.
"For them to say this theory is false is to call many of the homosexual movement's leaders liars," he said. "Most of my evidence comes right from the gay community."
"I managed to find enough evidence that my thesis child molestation is an integral part of the homosexual movement is a valid thesis," Baldwin told WorldNetDaily.
Other experts have also found a distinct pattern between child sex abusers and the incidence of homosexuality.
"How long can psychologists be in denial about the significance of the dark side, and ignore what it implies about the homosexual condition? And there's a matter of even greater concern. How long will psychologists eagerly throw open the door to gay life for every sexually confused teenager?" writes Joseph Nicolosi, Ph.D, on behalf of NARTH the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality a group that says it exists to "provide psychological understanding of the cause, treatment and behavior patterns associated with homosexuality, within the boundaries of a civil public dialogue."
The North American Man-Boy Love Association, or NAMBLA, is "a group that openly promotes sex with minor boys and claims that boy-lovers respond to the needs of the boys they love," Baldwin said in his report.
The group is often endorsed by "many of the homosexual movement's most prominent leaders," he said.
Advocacy moving to schools
Promotion of the "gay and lesbian lifestyle" is increasing in the nation's public schools.
A WND survey of homosexual-oriented websites found that almost every group has some sort of program to "educate" teachers, school administrators and other school employees about the homosexual lifestyle:
* GLSEN - the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network bills itself as "the largest national network of parents, students, educators and others" specifically formed to end "discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression in K-12 schools. Two recent press released boasted of the Broward County (Fla.) school board approving GLSEN-sponsored "training for teachers."
* A student activist working with GLSEN officials has managed to "give voice" recently to "gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students" at California schools; * PFLAG has created a national campaign called, "From Our House to the Schoolhouse," distributing to school officials - among other materials - a booklet entitled, "Just the Facts About Sexual Orientation and Youth: A Primer For Principals, Educators, & School Personnel. [Editor's note: Readers need the (Adobe PDF reader to open and read this file.)
Though most school-related programs are sold to administrators and parents as programs designed simply to end persecution of homosexuals and lesbians, none disclose what Baldwin says is compelling evidence that homosexuality is harmful to children.
"What does the academic literature say about the relationship between homosexuality and child molestation? Quite a bit, actually," he wrote, quoting data compiled by the Family Research Institute: "Scientific studies confirm a strong pedophilic predisposition among homosexuals."
The institute, after reviewing more than 19 studies and peer-reviewed reports in a 1985 "Psychological Reports" article, found that homosexuals account for between 25 and 40 percent of all child molestation.
"But this number is low," Baldwin says, "due to the fact that many reporters will not report if a child molester is a homosexual, even if he knows that to be the case."

What Heterosexuals Need To Teach Homosexuals
America has been deluged with so-called "reality" television series, but one premiered on the Bravo cable channel last week that shows just how far off-track our culture has gotten.
Given the title "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," this new television series maintains that heterosexuals have much to learn from homosexuals in matters of fashion and how to live their lives.
Bravo is airing what amounts to be a weekly advertisement for the homosexual movement and its agenda. It should come as no surprise that I do not feel compelled to take any fashion or lifestyle tips from the homosexual movement, and I say that as someone who was wearing pink shirts back in the 1960s before the color was seized by homosexual activists and politicized.
Nowadays, I still wear a pink shirt every now and then as a sign of rebellion against a movement that expects wearers of that color to be sympathetic to their agenda, which I most certainly am not.
The TV show has it absolutely backwards, unsurprising given that Hollywood producers these days are more interested in hewing to the homosexual movement's Politically Correct agenda rather than defending traditional values.
We all know about AIDS and how that has ravaged many practitioners of the homosexual lifestyle. But did you know that the lifestyle associated with homosexuals with its emphasis on drinking, promiscuous sex, and violence leads to many early deaths from causes other than AIDS as well as serious physical illnesses?
Perhaps Bravo's producers would be better off doing a documentary on the dead-end road that the radical homosexual movement wants to lead this country down. One document that they should include in their research is a study written a few years ago by the Family Research Council's Tim Dailey on "The Negative Health Effects of Homosexuality."
The Bravo producers could show how fashionable excessive drinking is in homosexual circles. According to an article cited by Dailey's study that appeared in the December 1994 issue of Family Planning Perspectives: "Among men, by far the most important risk group consisted of homosexual and bisexual men, who were more than nine times as likely as heterosexual men to have a history of problem drinking." Furthermore, the study discovered that problem drinking was a likely culprit in "significantly higher STD (i.e., sexually transmitted disease) rates among gay and bisexual men."
That, of course, is the least of it. The lifestyle is one that encourages promiscuity, leaving homosexuals open to all kinds of STDs and possibly even cancers.
"Don't ask, don't tell" about risky sex is obviously a fashionable concept within a significant portion of the homosexual community. A 1997 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 45% of homosexuals who reported having engaged in unprotected anal intercourse during the prior six months did not know the HIV status of all their sex partners. And of those who had unprotected anal intercourse and multiple partners, over two-thirds did not know the HIV status of their partners.
Plain common sense is not in fashion either because those homosexuals who may not be personally engaged in such repeated sinful activities essentially sanction it by calling on more promiscuous homosexuals to use condoms -- not to completely renounce their unsafe lifestyles.
Furthermore, relationships between homosexuals are often violent. Dailey cites the book Men Who Beat the Men Who Love Them: Battered Gay Men and Domestic Violence which stated that "the incidence of domestic violence among gay men is nearly double that in the heterosexual population."
Even homosexual marriage is not going to change things much because studies have shown that many, many homosexuals, even those in "committed" relationships, do not have any deep sense of fidelity to their partners. Furthermore, even those relationships that could perhaps be termed monogamous" cannot be considered healthy because they usually involve anal intercourse, a practice that is simply unhealthy given that it frequently leads to bacterial and parasitical STDs.
That's the plain, unvarnished truth that Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and many other television shows will not discuss. Because they want to gloss over what the homosexual lifestyle is really about is absolutely no reason why conservatives of conscience and compassion should not continue to demand the truth be told, particularly now that homosexual groups are engaged in campaigns to tell schoolchildren that "being gay is okay."
Silence on our part would mean being complicit in the promotion of flat-out lies and distortions that have deadly consequences. The fact is that the homosexual lifestyle is one that is dysfunctional, unhealthy and can even be deadly, not to mention that it is immoral.
It's not the fashionable thing to say, but it is the truth.

Internet Gay Cannibalism Net Widens
KASSEL (DPA) -- Prosecutors Thursday said they have filed a murder indictment against one of two gay men who met in an Internet chat room, where it allegedly was agreed that one of them would kill and devour the other.
And in a stunning new development, prosecutors in Kassel said they are broadening the investigation to include some 430 other persons believed to have been involved in the Internet gay cannibalism chat room that led to the death of a 42-year-old man in March 2001.
Prosecutors are convinced that the victim, a computer analyst from Berlin, agreed to be killed and eaten. His dismembered and partially devoured remains were found at the residence of a 41-year-old suspect.
That suspect, identified only as Armin M., has been charged with murder. Cannibalism per se is not a crime under German law.
Despite the fact that the victim willingly agreed to be killed, prosecutors said the case could not be considered "assisted suicide". So they opted for a murder indictment.
Prosecutors Thursday said the suspect has admitted videotaping himself killing the Berlin man, a computer chip developer at Siemens corporation, identified only as Bernd Juergen B.
On the morning of his disappearance from Berlin on March 9, 2001, Bernd Juergen B. completed his will. He left the bulk of his estate including a lavish penthouse apartment and EUR 50,000 worth of computer equipment to his live-in partner, a man named Rene.
According to police, the victim had several thousand dollars in cash and his passport when he travelled 300 kilometres from Berlin to the alleged murderer's house near Kassel.
Searching the rambling, 30-room, half-timbered house in the village of Rotenburg, investigators unearthed skeletal remains, some of them packaged in a freezer, along with videotapes and CD-ROMs on which the suspect allegedly recorded his actions.
Authorities were tipped off to the crime by internet surfers who stumbled upon chat room requests allegedly posted by the suspect in which he was looking for people willing to be slaughtered and eaten by him.

Pat Robertson Hides
Business Interests In
War-Torn Liberia
Gold-Digging TV Preacher Attacks Bush
For Failing To Support Liberian Dictator
7-11-3
TV preacher Pat Robertson has repeatedly criticized the Bush administration over its handling of the crisis in Liberia ñ without once mentioning his own personal business interests in the country.
In recent days, Robertson has used his nationally broadcast television show to charge that the U.S. government has sought to destabilize Liberia and oust President Charles Taylor. Although Taylor is a brutal dictator under indictment for war crimes by the United Nations, he is a business partner of Robertson.
ìTaylor is one of the most brutal dictators in Africa, and it is appalling to me that Robertson would enter into a partnership with him merely to make money,î said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. ìNow Robertson is using his tax-exempt Christian broadcast ministry to lobby the U.S. government to keep his crony in power. This is astounding.î
On his June 26 ì700 Clubî program, Robertson said, ìThis country [Liberia] has had a close relationship with the United States over the years, but of late, the last, oh, four, five, six years, the United States State Department has tried as hard as it can to destabilize Liberia and to bring about the very outcome weíre seeing now. They had no endgame, they have no plan of what to do, they only wanted to destroy the sitting president and his government, and as a result, the place is being plunged into chaos.î
On July 1, Robertson returned to the issue, telling his audience that a year ago he wrote to the undersecretary of state for African affairs warning him that ìif we continued to undermine the regime of the sitting president of Liberia that there was going to be chaos, and I said to him then, ëyou have no endgame.í Well, they havenít had an endgame, all theyíve wanted to do is destroy the government of Liberia, which they have succeeded in doing.î
Robertson, who founded the Christian Coalition, also asserted that the U.S. has turned a blind eye to efforts by Islamic extremists funded by Saudi Arabia to overthrow ìChristianî governments in Africa. During a July 7 rant, Robertson asserted that the United States has no business forcing the ìduly electedî Taylor, whom he described as ìa Christian, Baptist president,î from power. (In fact, Taylor seized power by force in 1989 and was elected president in 1997 in what some observers charged was a fraudulent election.)
During his repeated TV tirades, Robertson never mentioned his primary reason for wanting Taylor to remain in power: The two men are partners in a gold-mining venture. In 1999, a Robertson-owned company, Freedom Gold, entered into an arrangement with Taylorís regime to look for gold in southern Liberia. If gold is found, Taylorís government will receive royalties from Robertson. That arrangement will collapse if Taylor is forced out.
Last year, Robertsonís Christian Broadcasting Network aired portions of a Robertson-backed ìLiberia for Jesusî rally, during which Taylor officially proclaimed the country a Christian nation. Taylor took the action even though most Liberians are not Christians. (An estimated 45 percent of Liberians follow indigenous religions. Christians account for 38 percent, and the rest are Muslims.)
AUís Lynn noted that Taylorís claims to be a Christian havenít improved his behavior. The UN indictment accuses Taylor of backing a civil war in neighboring Sierra Leone. News media sources say the conflict has left more than 200,000 civilians dead and countless others injured or mutilated.
Taylor has also been accused of forcing children to fight in the Liberian army and of enriching himself at the expense of his impoverished nation. His record on human rights is so bad that he is barred from visiting the United States, a ban Robertson has tried unsuccessfully to persuade the State Department to lift.
Lynn said he finds it telling that Robertson has not mentioned his business interests in Liberia.
ìRobertson would have his viewers believe that his interest in Liberia is purely humanitarian,î said Lynn. ìIn fact, heís became partners with a dictator in the hopes of making money, and now he needs to prop that man up no matter what. Robertson ought to be ashamed of himself.î

Here's one for you subbers to look at. Dubious past but still trades. Someone is paying fees. Less then 20 million shares. Has it been cleaned up? Is it coming back? Who is accumulating shares? Only the shadow knows.
bb,
Well you can bring all sorts of graphs to the table when it comes to the subs but I've learned graphs mean nothing when it come to these plays. For a company that is trying to sell old movies via the net I find that there are too many shares out there. This could be a good play for the front runners but without news its like spit in a frying pan. The concept is good but there are other players as well.Don't think the big boys would like their movies via the net unless they were doing it themselves. Anyway I've wasted enough time here and am going back to lurker mode. Good luck everyone.
hey dannk,
Long time. (g)
Well Ed,
It sure looks like it to me.
BB,
688,000,000 shares of common stock. The number of shares that those debentures, notes and warrants ultimately may be converted into or exercised for could prove to be greater than this estimate if the market price of our common stock declines. You could, therefore, experience substantial dilution and a decline in the value of your investment as a result of the conversion of the debentures and exercise of the warrants.
You're right this could be over a billion shares they need to get rid of. I thought someone else is suppose to be the expect on DD on this thread. With some of the good subs out there it makes you wonder about the motive of some of these people.
Ed,
You may not think it all bad that someone was fined for being a criminal by the SEC but some of us do. As you said a lot of these subs do what they have to.
bb,
It was in the post!
The Commission announced that on August 2, 1999, it filed a complaint seeking permanent injunctions against Kanakaris Communications, Inc. ("KCI"), Alexander Frank Kanakaris ("Kanakaris"), David R. Valenti ("Valenti") and Shawn F. Hackman ("Hackman"), alleging violations of Sections 5(a), 5(c) and 17 (a) of the Securities Act of 1933 and Section 10 (b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule l0b-5 thereunder. The Commission's complaint also seeks disgorgement from Hackman and civil penalties against Kanakaris, Valenti and Hackman. KCI, Kanakaris and Valenti have agreed to settle the action by consenting, without admitting or denying the allegations of the complaint, to be enjoined from future violations of the registration and antifraud provisions of the federal securities laws; Kanakaris and Valenti also have agreed to pay civil money penalties of $25,000 each.
bbgold,

Capt,
Very serious. But these guys do have a past so be careful thats all I'm saying. If you look at the last 10q you'll see that the company is still losing money.
It fits together here FWIW:
And how Alliance Equities fits into these 2 CEOs and companies shenanigans
First Alliance posted many times to hype KKRW on raging bull(Posted under the name ALLIANCE) then in PRs and SEC filings KKRW claimed that Alliance Equities gave KKRW a 7 million line of credit which KKRW has yet to draw a penny from. And Instead have diluted shares by the millions many to Alliance .Then Alliance Equities gave the same promise to ECNC of 7 million line of credit. Now both companies have giving millions of shares to ALLIANCE for Consulting fees? And according to the SEC this is securities fraud.
Form S-8 is not available for consultants and advisors who directly or indirectly promote or maintain a market for the issuers securities; and
FROM THE SEC:Since the 1990 revisions, some issuers and promoters have misused Form S-8 as a means to distribute securities to the public without the protections of registration underSection 5 of the Securities Act. For example, the issuer registers on Form S-8 securities nominally offered and sold to employees or, more commonly, to so-called consultants. These persons then resell the securities in the public markets, at the direction of the issuer or a promoter.
In some cases, the consultants or employees perform limited or no additional services for the issuer. The consultants or employees then either remit to the issuer the proceeds from these resales, or apply those proceeds to pay expenses of the issuer that are not related to any service provided by the consultants or employees.[11]
Form S-8 also has been misused to register securities issued to compensate consultants and advisors for promoting the issuers securities.[12] This practice facilitates securities fraud by providing compensation as incentive to persons who hype the issuers stock, and may result in these persons conditioning the market for resales of the issuers securities.

Both of these CEOs have been in trouble with the SEC before and have been fined and punished and Tom Hughes iwas as of 10/29/01 on KKRWBOD.2 peas in a pod actually 3 with ALLIANCE .
You look at there two track record of fraud and misleading PRs and how a financial institution has never giving a dime to these 2 companies according to the SEC filings but IMO for Appearance has shown a line of credit to these 2 companies and has hyped on raging bull and leak: Inside Info from time to time. But Instead ALLIANCE has been giving shares paid for Consulting... fees for what? who knows, and has hype under the name B.Lemick with digging this I believed can be proving. , this is one big fishy fraud story. I dont even need to go in the all the BS hype misleading PRs Alex has dump shares into.

This is my take on it so far and I know the SEC wheels move slow sometimes but I believe you will be hearing more on this one day.
And a 1:20 reverse split where the shareholders get the shaft while Alex Kanaclueless class A shares actually Increase per SEC filing. What a fricking joke!
CAVEAT EMPTOR!

This post release or any other I have ever posted should in no way be construed as a suggestion to purchase and or sell stock in Kanakaris Wireless or any other company. With the exception of historical information and facts, the matters discussed in this post may be forward-looking statements that involve a number of risk and uncertainties. The actual future results of Kanakaris Wireless could differ from those statements. And are the express opinion of the poster and just like Alex and KKRS could be totally different then what will actually happen. But with this disclaimer it doesn't really matter now does it?
KKRW had Tom Hughes on board:
Litigation Release No. 16481 / March 23, 2000
Securities And Exchange Commission v. eConnect and Thomas S. Hughes, Civil Action No. CV 00 02959 AHM (C.D. Cal.)
The Securities and Exchange Commission ("Commission") today filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Central District of California charging eConnect, a publicly traded corporation, and its president with a scheme to artificially inflate the value of eConnect's stock by disseminating fraudulent press releases, primarily over the Internet. The Commission simultaneously filed an emergency application seeking, among other things, an order temporarily restraining and preliminarily enjoining the defendants from committing the violations alleged in the complaint. Named in the complaint filed today are: eConnect, a Nevada corporation based in San Pedro, California, and Thomas S. Hughes ("Hughes"), eConnect's 52 year old president, who resides in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
The complaint alleges that since February 28, 2000, eConnect has issued false and misleading press releases claiming: (1) eConnect and its joint venture partner had a unique licensing arrangement with PalmPilot; and (2) a subsidiary of eConnect had a strategic alliance with a brokerage firm concerning a system that would permit cash transactions over the Internet. In fact, eConnect has no licensing arrangement whatsoever with Palm, Inc., and the "strategic alliance" is no more than a letter of intent between a brokerage and a joint venture partner of eConnect. The complaint further alleges that the fraudulent press releases, which were disseminated through a wire service as well as by postings on internet bulletin boards, caused a dramatic rise in the price of eConnect stock from $1.39 on February 28 to a high of $21.88 on March 9, 2000, on heavy trading volume. The Commission suspended trading in eConnect's stock on March 13. The complaint alleges that despite the trading suspension and the Commission's related investigation, eConnect and Hughes continued to issue false and misleading statements concerning eConnect's business opportunities.
As a result of the foregoing, the Commission alleges that eConnect and Hughes committed securities fraud in violation of Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 ("Exchange Act") and Rule 10b-5 thereunder. In addition to the interim relief sought in the application filed today, the Commission seeks a final judgment against eConnect and Hughes enjoining them from future violations of Section 10(b) of the Exchange Act and Rule 10b-5 thereunder and assessing civil penalties against them.
capt,
I would be very careful on this one.
SEC v. Kanakaris Communications, Inc. et al., Civil Action No. CV-S-99-0967-JBR-LRL.
The complaint alleges that from January 1997 through January 1998, Kanakaris and Valenti both officers of KCI, fraudulently sold the securities of KCI and its predecessor company to individuals in several states. In soliciting investments, it is alleged Kanakaris and Valenti made misrepresentations regarding KCI's financial condition and operations. It is also alleged that Kanakaris and Valenti misrepresented to investors that KCI had a joint venture agreement with Microsoft Corporation. Some of these misrepresentations were allegedly also posted on KCI's web site.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (Nov. 18, 2001) – Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. (BFS) (www.bridgestonetire.com), in a further expansion of its diversity marketing efforts, today announced an extensive commitment to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. BFS’ efforts to reach the community will include online, television and print advertising, in addition to grassroots marketing support at various regional events.
“We recognize the importance of diversity and are extremely pleased to include the gay and lesbian community in our marketing efforts. We are also proud to be the first tire company with a national marketing effort directed toward this important segment of the U.S. population,” said Internet & Diversity Marketing Manager, Michael #####, of the company’s U.S. Consumer Tire Group.
Following a highly successful online test campaign with PlanetOut.com and Gay.com, BFS has entered into a sponsorship agreement with these sites through 2002. In addition to online advertising on both sites, BFS will participate in various events throughout 2002 with Gay.com and PlanetOut. Crabbing About Jen
Terry DeCarlo and Bill Huelsman aren't Hollywood stars, but they are South Florida celebrities. Sort of. For the past three years, while working full-time day jobs, the pair has produced and cohosted a half-hour-long show that airs locally each week on MediaOne and Comcast cable stations. They have paid $13,000 annually for airtime and purchased everything from a $20,000 video-editing system to blue backdrops for their 20-by-30-foot studio in Fort Lauderdale.
Although DeCarlo and Huelsman lead typically hectic lives, they aren't doing typical television. "It's Deco Drive meets Will & Grace," says DeCarlo, describing the focus of the show, Out & About, as gay community news and entertainment. "We've done everything from political events like the Millennium March on Washington to naked square dancing. That's what's kept this show going… the diversity."
The two producers aren't just business partners, they are also lovers and gay-rights activists. Recently they struck a deal to beam Out & About throughout the nation on the Gay Television Network (GTN), a start-up company that will reach millions of satellite dishes starting October 31. While some other national cable networks include gay shows in their lineups, GTN will devote all its programming to gay viewers.
Dick Weiner, GTN executive vice president, is a Peabody Award winner who produced programs for Showtime in the '80s. He calls South Florida a "premier destination point in the gay world." GTN won't pay the two local producers a salary, but it will pick up the tab for some travel costs. "Bill and Terry have one of the best shows in the U.S. about gay issues with lifestyle and entertainment," says Weiner by telephone from his office in Palm Springs, California.
The timing couldn't be better for Weiner, DeCarlo and Huelsman. The success of network shows like Ellen and Will & Grace, as well as Queer as Folk, a Showtime production (adapted from the British series) that debuts in December, has whetted the appetites of network execs and advertisers. Eventually gay-oriented television could be as popular and lucrative as black or Hispanic TV. After all, national estimates show that gays and lesbians (on average highly educated professionals with lots of disposable income) are worth $500 billion annually.
Huelsman and DeCarlo have upped their rates by six times for a 30-second commercial, to $600. They joke about making it big and being able to afford an Out & About tour bus and staying in five-star hotels. But in reality, they don't know what to expect. "It's an incredible feeling just to have this happen," says Huelsman. "Before we got the news, our energy was [ebbing] from all the long hours. Then all of a sudden this hit. It renewed us."
The show, in a way, was a product of DeCarlo's television know-how and Huelsman's entrepreneurial spirit. A native of Long Island, DeCarlo came to South Florida eight years ago after small acting parts in mainstream films like Last Exit to Brooklyn and Sea of Love. He was a gay-rights activist who had done news and entertainment on cable TV, which helped him land a job as a program developer for Fort Lauderdale's Gay and Lesbian Community Center. Huelsman contributed experience he had garnered as owner of RBX, Inc., a West Palm Beach firm that leases office space and provides administrative services. Both men felt the area's thriving gay community had received little media coverage.
In 1998 they formed WHTN Productions, Inc., the business arm of Out & About. "We didn't even have a camera when we first approached the people at Comcast," DeCarlo recalls. But after executives gave the OK, the pair snatched up all their savings, bought video equipment, and headed for the streets. Their first show proved they were novices. "We had rushed back to the studio to air our coverage of a Pride Fest at Mills Pond Park and discovered half our audio was missing! We had people calling in, thinking there was something wrong with their TVs."
Today's broadcasts are more complete, though not exactly seamless. Shot mostly in the field at events, there's an occasional camera shake. Lighting, depending upon the sun, can be off, too. Still Huelsman and DeCarlo emote warmth that seeps into the camera. It seems as if they are talking to you. The show opens with string music in the background, computerized graphics of flying birds and ocean waves, and a jazzily printed Out & About logo (in rainbow colors of course). House music announces trainer Brian Harmon's fitness segment and a weekly feature by techno-whiz Lee McCall about gay-oriented Websites.
In the studio, the hosts sit behind an anchor desk, though their relaxed, conversational style begs for a kitchen table instead. After brief commentary, they cut to scenes from the field. Viewers might see anything, from interviews with a stern-faced Melissa Etheridge at the Millennium March to risqué revelers at pride festivals in Las Vegas and Atlanta.
Sometimes the shows are send-ups of local figures, says DeCarlo, a Wilton Manors resident. "Earlier this year [Wilton Manors] Mayor John Fiore wrote an article for George magazine that offended a lot of people because it made us sound like a little hick town with unsophisticated people.... Well, Bill and I did a show wearing overalls and eating sandwiches and Pringles on camera. We were wiping our mouths with our sleeves and we put a big picture of a pickup truck in the studio background."
Mayor Fiore won't debate DeCarlo and Huelsman's response to his article. But as one of the few openly gay politicians in South Florida, Fiore supports Out & About. "I've known Terry and Bill for quite a while and they do a good show," he says. "It's great news that they're going national because it proves the mass media understands that our [gay and lesbian] community is out there and viable."
Hundreds of people call and e-mail after each show. Most tell the producers they are doing something right. Some complain. Another measure of their popularity is that they have sold major advertisers like Anheuser-Busch and SeaEscape Cruise Lines.
With its debut on GTN's national satellite on October 31, Out & About will no longer be aired on local cable stations. DeCarlo and Huelsman will travel more to increase the show's national focus. Indeed, wherever there's a glitzy white, red, or pink party (otherwise called an AIDS fundraiser) the gay television duo is sure to appear. On October 28, for instance, DeCarlo and Huelsman will be taping at Key West's annual Fantasy Fest.
"They've been out there doing their best to cover things, and I think it's amazing that they've been picked up nationally," says Grant Lynn Ford, senior pastor of the Sunshine Cathedral Metropolitan Community Church in Fort Lauderdale. "I'll miss the local touch, but they fill a real need in what they're doing so we'll allow them that. To us [locals], it's like your two baby boys are all grown up."
