Amtrak is very difficult to deal with according to an MGM management team member. Amtrak got pissed off when MGM removed graffiti on their building that resides beside Amtrak property (train tracks). MGM staff had to walk on Amtrak property to remove graffiti on MGM buildings.
I wonder how cooperative Amtrak is with XTRND????
I live in Henderson, NV. I went down to Union Plaza Hotel Casino, the original site of the Las Vegas train that stopped in 1999. The employees that I talked to had no knowledge of the train returning. The employees were aware of the past train that stopped at Union Plaza in 1999. I continue to drive down there and walk around but cannot find any evidence of new construction for a train station, alleged in previous press videos.
Where are #5562 & #5563 entries?
Need train station by 12/31/15
Still cannot find LV Train Station.
TESLA did same: enjoying the ride!
All Aboard! NEW YEARS EVE is coming!
Tuesday August 11th all NFL owners met in Chicago to discuss the building plans to move the Rams, Chargers and Raiders to Los Angeles (not Orange County/Fullerton). The Chargers and Raiders would share the same stadium. St. Louis is prepared to lose the Rams and declare a new team is on their horizon. All three NFL teams could be approved this year for the moves and construction to began. Long-term XTRND (2017 & beyond) could provide ticket packages for Southern Nevada residents via the train, and transportation/hotel packages to attend NFL games every weekend.

Important thing is to rekindle train service that was wrongfully taken away from us by negative people in 1999.

Can't find any de-boarding area construction behind Union Plaza (original Amtrak de-boarding area) or Main Street Station Hotel & Casino. I would like to know where in Las Vegas XTRN plans on loading and unloading train passengers from Fullerton, California on New Year's Eve (12/31/15)etc.
5 WEEKS AGO - BUT ENERGIZING: April 27, 2015
A group of federal and local leaders gathered in downtown Las Vegas today to discuss something that hasn't been seen in the region for 18 years: a passenger rail service to ferry riders back and forth between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
"I think the market is there. The will is there. The potential partnership is there," said Rep. Dina Titus, who convened the roundtable as part of her continued push to restore passenger rail services to Las Vegas. "We're figuring out how much it would cost."
Trains on Amtrak's Desert Wind route once made daily trips running from Los Angeles through Las Vegas and on to Salt Lake City. But the line was shut down in May 1997 amidst low ridership and complaints the route was inconvenient, often taking up to eight hours to complete what is normally a five-hour trip by car.
Titus said that line "was set up to fail," but thinks a reimagined passenger rail service could still provide a much needed alternative for people looking to get to and from Las Vegas. She pointed to the city's growing international tourism market and said visitors from Europe and Asia, where residents more frequently use trains, would be one of the core groups of potential customers.
While projects for high-speed rail lines connecting Las Vegas to Los Angeles have been discussed for years, none have made it off the drawing board due to engineering challenges and a lack of financing.
Titus's proposal to restore passenger rail service would use already existing rail lines, but faces the same key problem of finding enough money to restart the service.
"You wouldn't have to build a whole new railroad. It's a different kind of thing than building a maglev (train) where you start from scratch," she said. "I was very supportive of the maglev, but that's proven to be very expensive. If we can get some sort of service going in the meantime, great."
Titus acknowledged that it's unlikely that Amtrak, the federally subsidized train service, would launch a new line in the Southwest, but she was confident that a solution could be worked out by involving federal and state governments along with partnerships with private businesses.
"The next step will be for Amtrak to put together meeting with some of the key players in Las Vegas with some of the folks from California," she said.
How much the project would cost is unknown, something Titus said will be determined through a study she's pushing the the U.S. Government Accountability Office to conduct.
The meeting today, held at the Fremont Hotel, included Oregon Rep. Peter DeFazio, the ranking member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, a needed ally if the project is to move forward.
Also included were Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross and representatives from the casino industry, the Regional Transportation Commission and the Nevada Department of Transportation.
"It was a really good meeting," Titus said. "Everybody left the room agreeing that we would be following up. That this would be the first meeting, not the last meeting."
HIGH HO SILVER! ALL ABOARD!!! Washington, DC – Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District advocated for the restoration of intercity passenger rail service to Las Vegas, Nevada. At a markup of H.R. 5449, the Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act, in the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, the Congresswoman spoke about the growth in population and number of visitors to Southern Nevada since Amtrak service ceased operation of the Desert Wind route in May of 1997.
“I want to thank the Committee for their hard work on this legislation…Passenger rail service is critical for so many communities across the country. I represent Las Vegas, a major tourist destination, which welcomes more than 41 million people from around the world to our world-class resorts, casinos, restaurants, shopping and shows. So the ability for people to travel by whichever mode they chose is very important to our economy. Unfortunately, the last Amtrak train to service Las Vegas departed from the backside of the Plaza Hotel and Casino at the foot of the world famous Glitter Gulch in Downtown Las Vegas in May of 1997. Over the last 17 years, Las Vegas has continued its transformation into the premiere tourist destination for people from around the world. Since the trains stopped running, nearly a million more residents now call Southern Nevada home, and 10 million more people come to Las Vegas for work and for play every year. This growth has put enormous strain on our highways and our airport. As this legislation moves forward in the coming months, I would like to work with you (Chairman) and the Ranking Member on an initiative to study restoration of passenger rail service in the Southwest, especially between Southern California and Las Vegas, one of only two major metropolitan areas in the West without intercity passenger rail. The infrastructure remains in place, and the need is there.”
Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) agreed to sit down with Congresswoman Titus to discuss ideas about restoration of service.
I will post pictures of XTRN Station & Call Center on Monday if I have time. I am super busy right now.
