OT: Ernie another addicting site is www.zillow.com, you can instantly check on how much your house is worth or your friends.
Elder you were right the first time 10 in binary = 2 (base 10) and 11 binary = 3 (base 10).
Binary / Base 10
1 = 1
11 = 2+1=3
111 = 4+2+1=7
1111 = 8+4+2+1=15
11111 = 16+8+4+2+1=31
The far right place in the string =1, the next =2, the next =4, the next =8, the next =16 and on and on doubling with each placeholder.

For anyone with photoshop you can download both pictures, flip the AMD version horizontally, then drag the AMD pic into the Rim pic, scale the AMD layer to 44%, and you can match the two up perfectly.
Iown, I have read everyone of your posts, and I am sure you are not invested here because you feel that SIL will make this company profitable. I am sorry if I offended anyone reading this board, it was not my intention, I simply wanted to say any movie shot in film could be transfer to HD, or encoded into any format that windows media player wants. There is nothing in the way that SIL was shot that makes it any different from "Back to the Future" or "Pee Wee's Bigtop". please accept my apology. I want this company to become a success, but in order to do that, they need a working viable product, I pray it is right around the corner, but I have been invested here for over 5 years and I am still waiting.
They probably just liked the footage, surfers, big waves, it can make for dramatic shots.
Groove, I will not debate this issue with you, the link you supplied is not even a professional camera, it is a high end consumer HD camera. SIL will never make anyone on this board a single penny, its not worth talking about. The technology is the only thing that means anything, to this company. NVEI needs to start making advancement in this area, period. The movie was not the area to put their money. Let it die. Now I will go back to lurking. Goodbye
Did you know, “Gone With The Wind”, “Wizard of Oz”, “Intolerance”, even all of the Laurel and Hardy shorts were shot on high definition? Now you ask how could they have been shot in high definition, when HD will not even be invented for another 60 years?
They were shot in 35mm film, the same thing SIL was shot in. Film is a high definition medium, the only thing one has to do is telecine the film to HD video. The term “future proofing” has been used for at least 7 or 8 years in the television industry, and the way they have been “future proofing” is to shoot on film, which when transferred to video, (which is needed to broadcast), they select the flavor of the day video format. The television industry right now is trying to settle on a standard for HD format, there is 1080i, 720p, 1080p, and a variety of frame rates. You could shoot in HD video in one of the formats, and then transfer to another, but the safest way right now is to shoot in film.
I am all for NVEI coming out with a successful product, that will make everyone on this board tremendous amounts of money, but please drop the fact that SIL had remarkable foresight to shoot in HD, it is a bogus claim. Every film wants to allow their product to be able to have as long of a life as possible.
The quicker NVEI can put SIL into the background the better.

I just finished reading the report from the annual shareholder meeting from August of 2003. On page 29 Brad lays out a timeline of past and future events, in it he states:
Complete the Intellectual Property - (Done)
Prototype Semiconductor
Step One - computer - (Done)
Step Two - FPGA - (2nd Half 2003)
Evaluation of the FPGA from wireline
carriers and platform providers - (1st Half 2004)
Volume production - (1st Half 2004)
Revenues from production chips - (1st Half 2004)
The first half of 2004 is over in 20 days and so far this year I can't remember a single update on the status of the technology. Now is the time for New Visual (RIM) to explain this timeline, it's obvious that they have not met these projections. We deserve to know why, not this vail of secrecy that they have been keeping. I am beginning to think that all the naysayers on this board may (unfortunately) be right. Please Brad "Say it ain't so"

The problem is that they are not distributing it the distribution company receives the money.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't count on seeing any money from net profits from a film. The following article is about my big fat greek wedding, a film that has to be considered one of the top grossing independent films of all time. They are still showing a loss of 20 million, as of July 3, 2003.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/02/entertainment/main561335.shtml
(AP) The original producers of the hit independent film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," have sued star Nia Vardalos and the production company headed by actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, saying they haven't received their share of the film's profits.
MPH Entertainment Inc. originally purchased the script from Vardalos for $60,000, then sold the rights to bigger producers in exchange for 3 percent of the profits, according to a lawsuit filed late Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The lawsuit claims that, despite reports that the movie has grossed more than $600 million from worldwide box office receipts, home video sales and rentals and television broadcast rights, MPH has not received any of the profits.
An exhibit attached to the lawsuit claims to show an accounting statement from Gold Circle Films, one of the defendants, indicating the movie, which was released last year, has actually lost $20 million.
Attorney Henry Gradstein, a lawyer representing MPH, said future statements from Gold Circle may show profits and may acknowledge MPH's 3 percent claim. But he questions why, more than a year after the film was released, an accounting statement shows gross receipts of only $77.3 million.
"It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense that they have only received $77 million so far," Gradstein said Tuesday. "The only way we are going to get an accounting is by going forward with this case."
"We haven't seen the complaint but we stand by the integrity of our accounting," said Steve Zeller, a spokesman for Gold Circle Films. "MPH Entertainment will see their appropriate participation in due course."
Attorneys representing Vardalos and The Playtone Co. did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
I think your estimate of 100 million is way too high, in a quick search of the top twenty movies of 2002 only 12 made 100 million or more. Films that did not gross 100 million include:
12 Road to Perdition $99,332,314
13 Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron $73,220,000
14 Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams $70,051,675
15 Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood $69,029,674
16 Insomnia $67,115,149
17 Stuart Little 2 $61,990,919
18 Like Mike $50,516,465
19 Reign of Fire $42,451,145
20 Windtalkers $40,859,614
A quick google search I found a Donald Mulder quoted in this Jan. '99 article that lists him as 3Com's "vice president of strategic alliances."
I don't know if it's the same guy but I just thought I would share.

144 restricted stock.
The way it worked for me was like this:
I asked my broker what I must do to be able to trade the stock. He said you must get a letter of authorization from New Visual. This letter is to verify that you have held the stock more than 1 year. The 1-year restriction is imposed by the SEC for 144 stocks and is not a restriction imposed by New Visual.
I requested this letter from New Visual’s lawyer and sent a check for $200. The New Visual lawyer sent the letter to my broker (I actually never saw this letter). My broker has it in his file and then he was able to file to be able to sell all or a portion of the shares I held. The process of requesting the letter and the letter to be sent was the time consuming part, to actually file is I believe quick.
But like I said, I filed 3 times and never sold, the last time I filed was over 1 1/2 years ago. I’m still waiting for this stock to soar once again.

In order to register 144 share for sale, you must first request and recieve a letter from New Visuals lawers. The cost of this letter is $200. The lawers verify that the shares can legaly be sold, the shares must have been held for at least 1 year. This proccess takes 4-5 working days.
The right to sell lasts for 3 months and then it must be refiled (another $200). After holding the shares for 2 years they become unrestricted.
I personally have filed 3 different times without selling a share, just to be ready in case of some major change in the stock price.
I have always felt that the greater bandwidth could also be used for regular phone systems too. I would envision a new phone that has a high quality microphone with a high quality speaker, so when talking to someone it would be as if they were in the same room.
Something I thought was interesting .....
If...
If you can start the day without caffeine...
If you can get going without pep pills...
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains...
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles...
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it...
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time...
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong...
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment...
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him...
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend...
If you can face the world without lies and deceit...
If you can conquer tension without medical help...
If you can relax without liquor...
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs...
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics...
...then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.

Does anyone know if there are plans to have a web-broadcast of the shareholders meeting?

Mikey please reread post #1262 which Matt wrote to you when you first started posting nonstop on this board. It is very applicable to the way you are posting now.

I was somewhat disappointed to see that Bruce Brown will still be on the board. I don't see the fit with a telecommunication company.
How do you know Ray is having surgery? What is the surgery for? I haven't read this, although I have to admit on RB I have about 40 people on ignore (both basher and people who respond to them).
Thanks R3
Thank You Matt!!!
