PRKR squeeze? Stock is beginning to get away from shorts who have had control of price for a couple of years or more. Someone is accumulating, swooping in at the close and taking out the asks. 23MM shares outstanding, 27% insider owned, and 3.1MM shares shorted. Longs are waiting for announcement of the first design win for their new cell phone RF PA, but whoever is accumulating is not waiting and may know something. If it goes up another 10-15%, it could unleash a huge squeeze even before any significant announcement.
PRKR up 30% last couple of weeks. News could produce great short squeeze.
OCCM posts first quarterly profit. Should move tomorrow.
PRKR intraday high today - $9.50; June 3 low, $3.70. Oh yeah, and heading higher.
PRKR may be ready for another run. A research report from Halpern projects $1,000,000,000 in sales for 2009, versus zero for 2005.
PJTG BK!
That's PRKR's second certified weeeeeeeeee of the year. You can't beat that.
PRKR - weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Intraday high of $8.00, more than 100% above its recent low. Someone is accumulating and may be trying to set up a squeeze.
PRKR up 57% from recent low. Doesn't fully qualify for a weeeeeeeeeeeee but worthy of note.
TXCC closed at $2.50. Did anybody pay attention to my mention of this in relation to the Russell rebalance in early June. I think it has more to go.
PRKR at $5. Up from low of $3.70 6-3-05. History tells us that when these guys give themselves options or buy in the open market, the stock has hit a low.
OT: RE #10: the toothbrush was invented in West Virginia. Otherwise, it would be called a teethbrush.
PRKR directors got 10,000 options each yesterday at $4.22. Several large trades after hours at higher prices. They've been pretty good to themselves in the past, picking bottoms for issuance of cheap options, often followed by news that drives the price higher. The directors don't/can't sell into the higher prices, but the lower prices, while they last, provide them with shares almost for free should there be a substantial improvement in the company's fortunes. Do your DD, but I would recommend a modest position with an eye to developments 30-90 days. If nothing substantial by then, cash reserves will begin to be a greater concern and may be reason to get out before the crowds, like at a Dodger baseball game.
Russell 2000 gets reconstituted today after the close. TXCC will be in and will benefit next week. Any other candidates for inclusion?
TXCC hit a low of $1.75 on volume as many got stopped out. Closed at $1.88. Tomorrow, perhaps more of the same, maybe a run up and then more stops. Look for bargains before Friday.
New Russell 2000 list this Friday after market. Most likely to be added:TXCC. Had a run up last couple of weeks and is now giving some back so those in the know can accumulate. Look for bargains Wed-Fri.
Buzz, I think we called the bottom on PRKR. See posts #100079 and 100080.
Looks like PRKR has put in a short term bottom, unless another big holder decides to unload. Shorts probably managed to put a little dent in their position last week, but they still have a lot of work to do. Could see another run on any kind of news.
Yeah, the closer it got to the conference, the more it appeared that nothing would happen. Volume has been relatively high, and I suspect that has been funds selling and shorts buying. This is a very news-driven stock, and will not stop falling until there is some significant news. At these prices, shorts know that one design win could blow them out of the water, so there is no reason to take excessive risks, especially if one sold short at $30. Still, many shorts remain.
The company and the stock have been through a lot over the years, but the time has come to put up or shut up. Next couple of quarters should tell the tale. They are sketchy about time schedules right now, probably because they are short of cash and will proceed, in the short term, only with developing the product that has the greatest OEM interest. The best bet is that a cell phone OEM will want the RF PA, want it exclusively, and invest in the company to make sure that it will happen. That investment will be dilutive, but you won't notice it when the news hits and the shorts really have to cover. The stock can move big time before any income is generated by a design win and before the dilutive shares are eligible for sale to those covering.
Welcome to PRKR, child. I don't think we've hit bottom yet. Could be $3 next week, if no news is announced. See my yahoo post:

INSM has successful drug test, flying in early trading. I got in at $1.05. There will be potential problems ahead in patent fight with TRCA.
TXCC probably in the Russell 2000 when it is reconfigured. 5,000,000 shares demand when it happens.
Does ABRX have another run in it? $4 entry? Or just stay the hell away. So glad I managed to get out. Unlike, say, SPWP.
I've been a bagholder in FNIX for a while. There is always interesting news, but never any profit. Something has to give.
ABRX seems to dangerous to touch either way. It will be a long weekend for those with any position. I'll stand by and watch.
I'd like to see PRKR at $4 or less as well. But if the CEO announces an OEM deal at the FBR conference on Wednesday, the stock will go through the roof. He has stated that he is in negotiations with several potential customers and has been doing a lot of traveling. One deal is all it would take.
I don't see why he would appear at the conference unless he had something important to say. Reiterating what he said in the Q1 CC a couple of weeks ago seems pointless. The volume of buying today suggests that some people feel the same way. If he does make a deal, the announcement could precede the actual conference.
If there is no deal, stand by for $3 next week.
Got out of ABRX with my shirt. Lost pennies. Will keep an eye on it for future. Meanwhile, I think I will plow the proceeds into PRKR before the Wednesday webcast of the FBR conference.
PRKR getting beaten up but good on volume today. Should be getting near a short-term bottom. I intend to increase my holdings before next Wednesday's FBR investor conference webcast, where Jeff Parker is presenting. If he has good news, stock will take off. If not, little downside here.
Looks like you were right on ARBX, Buzz. Grabbed that falling knife. Discipline!!! I think I'll hold for the moment. Company has to put positive spin on things (lipstick on a pig) at some point which should move the stock a bit higher. I should stick to things I understand, and pharma ain't one of them.
I'm in ABRX now. Looks oversold and should jump a bit. Maybe a fast 25%.
On the PRKR CC, Jeff Parker mentioned that he had been and would be busy travelling for business reasons. One assumes he is pursuing one or more OEM deals. He will be speaking on a webcast of FBR's 9th annual Investor Growth Conference at 4:40pm ET Wed., June 1. It would not surprise me if he had an announcement of some significance. I would look for any further price erosion before then as an opportunity to take a small position. Short term, there would be little downside risk even if nothing develops at that time. You should be able, if you wish, to unwind a small position at something close to your purchase price.
That NFLX shorting opportunity I suggested came yesterday. There may still be an opportunity, as I consider this stock a flying turd, and turds rarely stay aloft for long. Commodity business with no barrier to entry. Currently trading at 57 times trailing earnings and those earnings are endangered.
Anyone follow VSNI? Have traded it successfully on recent volatility. It appears to have put in a near term bottom, but there has been some insider selling. Could be just cashing in options to pay their living expenses.
FNIX breaking out. Up sharply last couple of days and has further to run.
PRKR survived conference call without taking any body blows. Emphasis is on bringing RF amp to market, apparently with real OEM interest. They have about a year's worth of cash to get something done. In the interim, volatility will be the rule. May trend slightly lower over next few weeks, then there should be some kind of announcement regarding new WiFi products or cordless phone that could produce a small run.
EGHT could add $1 pretty quickly with any buying interest.
EGHT up about 28% last 2 days. <EOM>
EGHT breaking out? <eom>
PRKR numbers will undoubtedly suck. The key is what is said about OEM negotiations, probably tomorrow in the CC rather than in today's PR release. If they have nothing of substance to say, look out below. Retail is not working for them. If, on the other hand, they have something meaningful to say about an 802.1g mini PCI laptop customer, or a private label deal for the cordless phone they are developing, or interest in their RF amp, the stock will fly.
DAMN!! PRKR back over $6. I wanted it to tank before the Q1 report so I could get some bargains. DAMN!!!!!!!
