In case there was any doubt. Taken from a post in one of my robotic surgery groups. I’ve kept names of surgeons out of the post. There is also a picture of the robot in the operating room. It wasn’t hard to figure out from the beginning that Medtronic was paying them to use some of their technology and nothing more. Titan needed the money. Unfortunately, people thought that Titan would also have a platform to come to market with.
“we have managed to carry out the first robotic surgery in the world with
Hugo-Ras in our Robotic Surgery Center of Clínica Santa María (Santiago, #chile).
Today we are proud to have the Davinci platforms from Intuitive, which has revolutionized the last
two decades, and Hugo-Ras from Medtronic, which promises to democratize and make robotic technology affordable.”
Why does everybody try to overanalyze this thing?? It’s a startup trying to keep its head above water. Nothing more or less. There are no secret agreements keeping share price down. The reality is they don’t have anything yet. They have a prototype being trialed in a few hospitals. Statistically speaking from this point, they have a higher chance of failing then succeeding. Just stating facts. I am very long on Titan, but also realistic. There’s a reason most $4 and under stocks are actually overvalued. For what it’s worth, a good friend of mine that I did residency with who is also a Titan investor does a fair amount of robotic surgery in the Orlando area and has spoken with surgeons from Florida hospital. The discussions have not been positive. They have been very clear that they are excited about the Medtronic robot coming out. Which will very likely come out before Titan ever gets to market. This is a gamble. That is it. Put in it what you can afford to lose and sit back and watch!
I’ve been off the grid for a little while. Are they in the middle of another raise right now?
Unfortunately, no mention of Titan in this article.

I agree with what you are saying. If they hurry up and get to market. I’m not saying that the Medtronic robot will be better. This person also told me it was not singe site. It is more like what you are describing. I was replying to the post someone wrote about the possibility that the Medtronic robot was really Titans robot. Medtronic/Titan partnership or buyout. That is not the case. Medtronic is developing their own.
I wish. But I know someone who works for Medtronic who has physically seen their robot. I’m really concerned about our delays, because I know there are others out there that are far enough along in production. Titan needs be second to market!
Transenterix is advertising their robot on the front cover of this months General Surgery News Journal. I’m trying to upload the picture from my phone, but its not letting me.
I understand what it says on their presentation and on their website. Im simply relaying what a colleague of mine was told by one of the Titan people at their booth. I wish I could be there and ask these things. Was scheduled to go, but had to cancel a short while ago. Had to take call for my group this week! Anyway, if some other people reading this are there and can also ask, maybe we can get some confirmation. Iv'e been accumulating this stock since I was a fellow 5 yrs ago. Impatiently waiting now!!
Hearing great things from colleagues at the conference. Human trials set to start end of 2016. From one of the pics I received, it looks similar to a mobile fluoroscopy unit. This is great! Makes it easy to move in and out of different rooms. A big plus for ambulatory surgery centers.
Im hoping so!
Sure thing. My Stryker rep is there and they are also a shareholder. Waiting to hear what they have to say tomorrow.
Anyone at SAGES? I was supposed to go but had to cancel last minute. I've asked my reps to send me pictures and updates.
SAGES would be great, but don't get your hopes up. I don't think they allow non FDA approved devices that aren't even in clinical trial to be showcased there. Too early.
Nothing new. Hopefully the abstracts they present at ASH get this moving some.
Here is the slide presentation...

He said they usually take 24-48hrs to write up their report on it. Still a little frustrating that the highlights aren't published right away.
From a buddy at Stifel Nicolaus, its supposed to be at 1:50PM. Im assuming eastern time. Wonder why we haven't heard anything yet.
The key will be how quickly Titan can get FDA approval. I do a fair amount of robotic surgery and talk regularly with our DaVinci Reps. The DaVinci single site is being released in the fall of 2015. However, keep in mind that it took 12 months for intuitive to get FDA approval for it. Titan hasn't even submitted for FDA approval yet. I am a long time Titian holder and am really pulling for this company, but I would be very surprised if we had a SPORT system out in production by the end of 2015. Seems like the FDA process takes a fair amount of time. Just my opinion.
Hello All,
I'm new to this board but a long time Titan holder. As a general/bariatric surgeon, I'm excited about this new product, as are a lot people in my field. Just my two cents.... Keep in mind that ISRG tried to sell to the big boys (J&J, Siemens, GE) once they developed Davinci, but no one bought them because they didn't think robotic surgery would take off. Turns out that was the best thing that ever happened to ISRG. Look at their stock. I don't think this will happen here. I doubt the big companies will let this slide by without scooping it up. Especially with the connections the current CEO has to J&J. Also, I think the small size of the SPORT system, which allows it to move easily from room to room, along with it being much cheaper to purchase, gives community hospitals the ability to purchase and use it. It will also allow them to market themselves as having the "latest and greatest" in minimally invasive robotic surgery. Assuming this passes human trial. Im bullish! Good luck!
