I sold on news. Been here over 10 years. I didn’t see anything to compel me to hold. No details. No update on production. Lack of details made me want out and while I 4x my initial investment over 10 years I have better options. Good luck. I’ll get back in in 5 years once this is on solid ground.
Anyone think it's the military actually holding back Vietnam? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they tested DS and see an advantage. These kinds of applications have a long history of disappearing or being set back a decade for civilian use. I'm thinking the set back with the reeler was a smokescreen to buy time for an internal review before announcing it was a total failure, all the while consuming the technology and screwing all of us over. I hope this doesn't come to fruition but it has crossed my mind. Most likely Kim and Jon messed up dealing with a sub par processor. The former DuPont board member would have caught this imo so I'm not feeling so good about the lack of progress on the business side after buying land and equipment with no partner announcement. I would feel much better if we got an update on a signed partnership outside of military.
I think right now Kim knows he is running out of time. Vietnam is a huge uncertainty and obviously the determined best option in his opinion. I'm starting to think that there are serious problems with the technical aspects of the silk itself. If monstersilk or dragon silk were ready for sale and scale these hurdles would have been overcome by now. Looking back it's the pr's around ramping up only to find out that was in reference to a few lbs. is everything I need to know. I'm only in at 20% of what I was once but I'm jumping at the chance to walk away from Kim and his lack of communication of details. Ramping up 10x with no starting figure has proven pathetic. I don't trust him and my patience after 5 years has run out. Good luck and I hope I regret this because if the material has improved since pnas it is important if produced commercially.
I found this stock recently. Bought and sold for a nice gain about a month ago. Tried to buy in and came up short before the plummet in price. I bought on the low and I'm totally convinced this company will get out of debt within 3 years and make it's usual revenue gains for another decade. The froth inbetween is going to make this stock bounce constantly inbetween making many opportunities for investments. I'm truely excited to see this seed grow while taking fruit as it ripens.
The risks at this point are as follows:
Quality Control
Regulation Approval
Funding
All major uncertainties after many years of efforts.
I think the company is much closer but the learning curve will be high getting this into market.
The missed timeline because of a third party is one example. I believe their was a similar issue with the wrong processing sent to Warwick previously. These things are going to happen at every level because KBLB doesn't have an internal R&D, Supply Chain, Shipping Dept., Regulatory, Legal, Sales. They have Kim and Jon plus some general labor. If they pull this off with a two man show I will be amazed. If they continue to progress and stumble while hiring the necessary help when appropriate I will feel comfortable keeping my investment for as long as it takes. These people thinking anything significant is happening in a year are clueless to how even a small million dollar a year business works. It takes a substantial work force to do day to day functions. You don't sign a Vietnam deal and make a billion dollars of silk with two guys. Reason people. I'm long just not thinking we are as close as others.
Update on my thoughts not that anyone cares but I appreciate others so I'll share mine. First, I think we will get an announcement on India ultimately making a move to become a commercial producer near the end of the year. Next, New Balance will be our second customer after the army announces it's testing. They are not directly related but it will prove out the supply chain. I think the next meaningful announcement will be new financing beyond what Calm Seas has offered. Lastly, I think the first commercial (tons) sales will not happen for another two years. The first batch of customers will be in the hundreds of lbs. and produced domestically. Nothing ground breaking I know. Thanks for everyone's contributions over the last 6 years I have been a shareholder.
Kim's problem is the same as most 40+ ceo's. If he simply stated a clear vision of how this technology can improve the planet by reducing harmful synthetic fibers along with an economic boost to area's in poverty all while creating a platform for healthcare anyone 18-40 would be piling money in this company. Instead he has tainted all of that by misleading and outright shameful deceitful forward looking statements of commercialization 2 years ago. Our hope is he gives the reins to Jon.
If Kim intended to create a commercial business with a 1-3% share of the multi-billion dollar silk industry his actions would have been very different. I see his actions of someone who thought of an idea most people realize could change the world and made some progress. He will ride this as long as possible. I see no path to this becoming a successful enterprise with him leading or frankly involved in business decisions. While his introverted frugality ultimately led to these discoveries, that same trait will lead this to fail monetarily. He needs a real proven CEO to get this going and that means giving up power. I don't think his ego will allow him to be rational and everyone involved will suffer the consequences. Sad but that's my opinion. I would be on board if I believed he would give this away for free to help the world. Sadly his ego is his downfall.
This may be referring to India. I believe that was a scouted location along with Vietnam.I doubt we get clarification until the next newsletter unfortunately.
Unless these tree's are in a green house this timeline is not possible from that facility.
The state of business is a 3-4 month wait on operations being functional inVietnam. The domestic situation has not announced a location for planting the 2,000 trees. My best guess is Kim has sufficient interest in the product and a lack of ability to provide samples. That will take a year to sort out. This company is still 3-5 years away imo of bringing this technology to a mass market. They might get contracts before that time period but it will take many months to penetrate with a superior product. Keep in mind a label change on an existing product can take months. Good luck to all holding like me but this is not close to doing anything but growing slowly.
I see a lot of people still shooting for the moon. Some have been here for years. IMO the state of things are not up to where a reasonably informed investor would like it to be. We have a place to farm some silk at an unknown quantity that is certainly much less than was posted today. My guess is at best 1000lbs. a month capacity with one worker. Try sourcing mulberry leaves in 4 ton quantity weekly in the U.S. And let me know how you do. This is so far very troublesome that Kim has several times outright given timelines that are unattainable by either logistics or procedures. I don't care about those already invested but the people thinking about getting in deserve to know this is still years away if ever from becoming a company for profit. Huge hype no follow through.
The space they have can produce only 80 lbs. every cycle. Do your DD this is a garage operation at this point. Not sure why but the hype doesn't match the business plan. I fell for it made and even made a few k over 4 years of research and waiting. Don't fall for the glory of the material they say they have. What is in the literature is a useless chimera that has been in pnas. The rest is pr'd and not independently tested. Lots of stories with little to no real follow through or results.
Those statements are taken from many pr's and are taken out of context. Only the most desperate would take any stock in that post. You should be ashamed at your dishonesty. The truth is that this company needs funding and can't get it. That should set off alarms. They have admitted in released documents they are not confident they can get funding to allow continued business. How could any person take the leap to think they will secure the 10+ million dollars needed to start an actual commercial facility? That means they would buy contracts for mulberry production and processing of a few tons of production in their own facility. That will not happen since the next logical step is to license the tech to the world at a profit. Kim will never turn this into anything but a free ride for himself and he is far from being a worthy custodian of a world changing material.
They have not bought any new equipment to expand operations. I'm certainly not positive. My evaluation is a facility of half that amount if equipped with temp/humidity control for this application. Either way very troubling to me. I was thinking a minimum of 25k sq. ft. For anything worthwhile. This is still years away from creating a product and revenues that make a profit.
Office space 4k+ a month. Production facility in Indiana $600 a month run for the hills the CEO is smart you are not. Kim simply has come against an unknown obstacle and it has not been overcome or this new facility would be much larger than my kitchen.
My personal opinion is that it would take 100 million in revenue and 10 million profit in a quarter to support .70 with a projection of continued growth of 20+ % each quarter for the foreseable future. My play is that I bought at .06 got out at .095. I plan on getting back at a .05 and riding the next milestone to .10-.15 I haven't been wrong yet. I maintain a free core incase I happen to have underestimated the play of a big dog like Nike or under armor.
When Vietnam was announced anyone could have done dd and seen it averages about 10-12 months to be operational. These predictions are bogus and the stock is not jumping anywhere for another year or two. They have done great work proving the technology but to commercialize will take years not weeks or months as some have proclaimed. Buy low sell high. There is no magic pr coming.
kraiglabs and new balance would be nice.http://newsdaily.com/2016/04/pentagon-awards-75-million-for-advanced-textiles-institute/
Anyone know if the TPP between the U.S. and Vietnam is holding up an agreement? I'm not sure if we would pay import tax if Kraig Labs is based in the U.S. and only the fiber produced in Vietnam. Can someone elaborate?
This stock is at .05-.06 because we are still a research company that doesn't sell anything. We know that MS can be made into textiles and that's a huge discovery. We have one last hurdle and that is confirmation that MS can be sold in one way or another for profit. Once that is clear this thing will take off and in a hurry. My opinion is that we are still looking at the end of this year or early next year for this to be clear.
Can i please get an explanation why my post was removed.
based on WM telling me how long it takes them to evaluate a novel fiber. They gave a two week window and it starts on Monday.
There is a very real possibility of news regarding test weaves from WM starting next Monday. It may be longer and the news might not be great. However, it would be a shame to be notified and not get some skin in the game. This could be the kind of news that changes the trajectory of the company. If WM has indeed finished testing and the results are favorable, we might start finding out more about the business plan. I am really excited this time and that has not been the case since the Notre Dame press conference.
Thanks for a good laugh.
We are quiet because we know that news is not expected for another week or two. There is a large group of us that have long term investments and don't need an update to how Kim takes his coffee. If you are looking for a quick buck this is not the place. It will be another couple of years before this stock reaches its potential. If anything look for incremental steps towards that goal. Good luck fellow investors
news regarding WM is not overdue. They won't even be done evaluating until atleast the 15th more like the 31st. Then Kim has to decide what to do with that information. Other news should be coming but WM is not one of them.
From my information talking with WM Kim should be given information from the MS shipment around 3/15-3/31. This is based off of their estimates of how long it takes to properly test new materials. This is of course if nothing goes wrong and their are no unexpected hurdles. We should be hearing of another shipment to WM very soon though.
