Hi Stockmama! Yes, they got CONTRACTS which = $$. PPS is a little pricey for us penny types, but it's definitely alive and well.
She's a fickle one, and we just can't get her hitched with a rich BF.
I am a SGLB "long hauler"....it hasn't been too fun. Should sold, but life got in the way. Nonetheless, I am going to buy more low and dilute my cost...still think it's a good risk. I'd do it differently next time, though. Live and learn.
I just read that BWXT is looking into AM as options. They got huge DOE and DOD contracts. How can I find out if SGLB has any history with them?
It would make my day.
Yes, I agree. I got smacked with that one.
Thanks for the post. I was interested in copper due to it's antibacterial applications. Brass doorknobs were popular for years and I guess ancient wisdom, the copper and zinc kill viruses. You don't have to make a big leap here in the current age of Covid. From Business Insider:
Researchers have discovered that copper and alloys made from the metal, including brass, can prevent antibiotic resistance in bacteria from spreading. ... Copper and brass, however, can kill the bacteria and also destroy this DNA.Dec 24, 2012
So not only are copper and brass beautiful, they have so many uses that we aren't pursuing, but I think will.
Go LBCMD
PSYDOC
DoD is a huge player but they don't move fast.
Based on short volume it looks about 50/50 in terms of sentiment.
I share my state with both a major nuclear site and a major airplane manufacturing company...you can fill in the blanks...I am familiar with the workings of engineering-based interests. I agree that one of the hold up's is that many companies think they can build a version of PR in-house because that is how these companies work. They might be able to. That is the clock ticking away on PR before it becomes irrelevant. However, as they plug away trying to write a PR wanna-be, it will take one good lawsuit for an AM company to decide they need in process monitoring. It wasn't our part that failed, see it was made perfectly, and then kick the can of blame down the road. However, companies often don't think that way, close the barn door well after the cow has gone down the road. SGMA needs to sell the idea of safety, reduced liability. IMHO.
MIGHTY QUIET ON THE BOARD TODAY....
PR has value in both monitoring and preventing waste of parts as well as maybe AI to help improve the AM process but also to prevent lawsuits in the event of a crash (ie: fuel nozzles....) "not our part that failed" as their is record of each item being made. Still, the fuel nozzles were a hopeful sign. Re: making $120,000 off SGLB, congrats! You must have gotten in just before or after the height of the unfortunate divorce related P & D, or after the 2 fer reverse split (or was it a 3 fer?). Many of us were just left wondering what the heck had happened. So your timing was excellent!
That has been my point exactly. Yes engineering staff is essential but they need sales people. In my experience the two personality types do not overlap much.
I have to agree with that. Got the scars. Still hanging on bc AM is the future.
Yes the Boeing problems didn't help matters for them, lots of PR problems right now. I noticed Rycey went up the day after....
Yes!!
Yes except one other stock that makes jet engines. That stock was the only green thing in my portfolio today. Odd! But smart to buy when stocks fall. GL to you!
Virgin Orbit, let me introduce Sigma Labs. Sigma, Virgin Orbit. Hope you will be very happy together!
I am hanging in! Hope you're right! I think they have a good product. I've seen the need for similar in other industries.
Sigma Labs Chief Technology Officer to Speak at AM Industry Aerospace and Energy Summit
Hope this isn't a typical chicken cordon bleu banquet, dog and pony event. SGLB needs to set up a vendor booth that will wow the customers, welcome the companies and sell sell sell. They need to push PR before someone else comes up with an option.
Mine, too and I have a really mixed bag in my portfolio. I thought RYCEY'd flounder around for awhile and it's outstripping the blue chips. Hm...
Especially since the Boeing explosions. Their engines aren't looking so good right now.
It's awfully quiet here today. And a drop in AHFD prices. I'm still up $4 but hope for more
Now in my 7th year with SGLB stock....I recall that Airbus hooplah. They were supposed to be making one specific part of, I think, the tail assembly. It sounded like a done-deal. We thought it would take off then. It just kind of dropped off the face of the planet. What they don't say speaks volumes, I'm afraid. AGaIn, they need someone to sale this product before other someones rip it off.
Meanwhile, I'll keep my job waiting tables at the cafe to pay rent while SGLB waits for its big break.
"Working with" isn't the same as "selling a product to". Call me simplistic, but wouldn't a sale of a product lead to revenue that they would report? Revenue doesn't look all that impressive.
Still hanging in and hoping their sales team fishes something to the boat.
I hope you're right. They need sales people who can...SELL. Again, I think there is something very wrong with their marketing program/staff that they haven't been able to sell this program....unless there are shortcomings in the program (besides "it doesn't work"...which is interesting but not very specific) Any ideas what the limits are to PR anyone? I may have missed someone's technical post and if so, direct me to your post/date and I'll read it carefully!
Yes, I think I have enough. I'll buy on the way up if this company ever takes off. Reminds me of my own weight loss program...up two pounds...down two pounds...up two pounds...down two pounds. I hope it does take off, really I do. And I hope I lose those 20 lbs as well.
So now what? They are supposedly merging with some hemp company?
Wow. I would have put him up in my basement. I own a lot of AHFD but it was so cheap, not really a big loss. I'm actually green on it now! Hope he gets a good settlement.
Thanks for the articles! I didn't read them. Why? BC we've been here sooo many times before. All the amazing things that PR can do and all the huge companies that SGLB has been connected with, talking to, amazing presentations to important industry groups. SGLB has been always the bridesmaid, never the bride, being either been jilted by or repelling buyers at the altar several times. I want to see the ring on the finger and shareholders throwing rice on the happy couple of SGLB and whoever writes them a big fat check for PR. IMHO
So, again, I am hanging in with Sigma almost 9 years now and the doubters do have some validity. If you look at Sigma's charts over the past 8 years, shares jumped to over $400 briefly, like for a few hours on 3/25/11--I think there was a divorce involved-- and again on 11/29/13, with little or no warning. Then they plummeted. Those two spikes looked like textbook pump and dump and they soured a lot of people on SGLB. I know of many who just took the loss and bailed. For a long time, lotsa news, lotsa conferences, but no sales... then a reverse split and some of us are waaayyy upside down on this thing. Again, I don't think it was the product, I think it was the management and the sales dept. So, hope springs eternal and I'm sitting on the sidelines hoping it takes off!
YAY!! 'BOUT TIME!!
That would be nice!
You might be correct but I still think they need some help with development and marketing. I get that they are trying to not dilute multiple aspects of the company by involving a lot of outside people but IMHO you can either be a good engineer or a good marketer, but not both. I've been on the ground floor of similar situations and it takes years, sometimes technology is abandoned only to be "rediscovered". 3D printing is still in its infancy and hasn't taken off yet like it should. I'm still willing to wait and see, but am investing in other companies with similar to cover my bases. As always, GLTA and really appreciate all the discussion here, pro and con.
Frankly I'm baffled as to why they haven't so far (made a lot of money). Again, who else has a program like this, it's pretty specialized.
Not like we've seen those before.....
Welcome to BWX Technologies board! I own a few shares, but am not an industry insider. I'll be adding a co moderator soon. Look forward to the discussion about this company and their new and exciting technologies! GLTA!
So all this being said...maybe Schwartz is hanging in there with fingers crossed like the rest of us. Maybe SGLB is just an annoyance and he has tons of other assets. Or maybe he needs the loss. My biggest question remains why this company who seems to be at a new conference or convention every other week and has all sorts of understandings and contract-ish agreements but is floundering on the bottom of the ocean waiting for someone else to come along with Print-Rite wanna be. They need a sales person, not an engineer, to market their goods. PT Barnum, where are you?
I love the Cliff's Notes format
I'm thinking that might be a good idea. I never invest more than I can lose and I try to stay in for the long haul, especially with pennies but this company has way more potential than we are seeing and at some point, they aren't going to be the only show in town. I think the loss might be worth more than the cost of waiting. Thanks for the input!!
