So did you own AAMRQ (The bankruptcy stock? If so that's probably why they gave you some AAL shares from the Disputed Claim Reserve (DCR)
I have to assume that:
(1) The DCR contains more than they expect to pay out
(2) Any residual amount will be paid to AAMRQ shareholders once all the disputed claims are settled
(3) If I had to guess I would guess any payout would be no later than next year
(4) I am carrying it on my speculative list at 50% of current DCR
(as a mathematician once told me - if I have to guess I'll go with 50% as that minimizes my maximum error)
Trump issues orders to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 Jets
Donald Trump announced “planes that are in the air will be grounded if they are the 737 Max. Will be grounded upon landing at their destination.”
The United States had been the lone international holdout in not grounding the planes after the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday.
Trump did it, why not FAA?
Hmm, do you ever review the reports and state facts or just speculation with no evidence?
Senior experience pilot, specific retraining on MCAS
Boeing reported to have been working on major revision to control software for months.
I'm short now - waiting for the news to break and the lawsuits to begin
But we know there is a credible report that they were retrained specifically on the MCAS after the lion crash.
The report said that after the Lion crash the pilots were retrained on the MCAS system in detail.
Ethiopian airways is a profitable main Africa hub airline, they have a good reputation.
Hmm, Ethiopian pilots were reportedly retrained with emphasis on the MCAS after the Lion air disaster.
So I am dubious of the suspicious that it was a training issue.
Agreed, big overreaction. buying opportunity?
https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/fresh-concerns-over-safety-of-the-boeing-737-max-8-aircraft/news-story/b2ea15763c80fa8233c4d24304cc05d3
But aviation experts and pilots say their biggest concern with the new Boeing aircrafts is around a feature known as the Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System or the “automated anti-stall system” — a new characteristic on the MAX 8 jets.
The MCAS system relies on a gadget on the outside of the plane measuring how high the nose is. Too high and it brings the nose down. But the worry is this gadget is malfunctioning and its bringing the nose down for no good reason. It can mean the plane starts heading for the ground.
“This is the first time Boeing has put in the MCAS that kicks in when a plane is climbing too quickly and could stall the aircraft,” he explained of the new software.
“This system stops that stall, but is not supposed to kick in when the aircraft is flown manually by the pilot. It only kicks in during autopilot mode.”
“The training manuals were modified after the Lion Air incident, because at the time the only time MCAS was mentioned was in the definition section. Nowhere else in the original manual were there details on what the MCAS does, bad indications and how to turn it off were included.
“The new manual procedures encompass how to handle the system, Ethiopian Airlines is a tidy airline, so I’d be surprised if they hadn’t circulated it to their pilots.”
IMHO, using a SINGLE Sensor without corroborating evidence is a risky way to design an automatic safety system.
But the experts will find the cause - I used to fly on BOAC comet jets (after they stopped falling out of the sky fortunately)
Ethiopian Airways has a 6/7 safety rating. I would not call that "fringe"
Southwest has a 3/7 safety rating - I know which I would prefer to fly...
Lion is unrated

Can we please do appropriate research before stating opinions without qualifying it as an opinion.
There is TOO MUCH MISINFORMATION - LETS HELP REDUCE THE AMOUNT
Any idea what disputed debts are outstanding?
Do we have any way to count them down?
One rational reason is they believe they can make more revenue than the debt servicing cost.
Ha - I guess I won with my Feb 14th estimate - happy DCR day everyone...:)
Here's an example
120,000 shares of AAMRQ
Assume ~420,000,000 shares outstanding (wild guess)
Given 17,500,000 DCR
I would expect 120,000*17,500,000/420,000,000 or 5,000 shares of AAL, at $37 that's about $185k before taxes :)
That's easy.
A=No of AAMRQ shares you have
B=No of shares outstanding (something over 394 million, we can't know this until they calculate it
C= 17.5 Million shares
You get A*C/B
Sorry it took so long to reply. I am taking a vacation with my DCR distribution. Didn't you get yours yet?
LOL

The USA "legal" system is uncontrolled in MYHO. Make people pay for frivolous suites. However, in my opinion his early challenges were appropriate . His later ones should have cost him defendant fees.
There is a very fine balance between freedom and oppression.
I can empathize with him. My company sold my group and I lose $1,000,000 in stock options, health insurance etc.
Sucked, but in life it's to assume the universe will win....
But there is a time to move on with life
How about a guess at when the majority of the DCR will be distributed?
I'll start with Feb 14th 2019...
Ha, my remaining grey hair is receding :)
Thanks Ralph, That's a very good explanation
I think the word you were trying for is "ulterior"
Nicely said
That's the way I read it :(
So Ralph, what did you do to the stock today !! :) LOL
Aren't we hung up waiting on the Meadow's hearing in January?
Wait, fret, speculate :)
Distribution Court Order:

Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for the correction
I think I multiplied my investment by about 25 after tax so I am very happy (and wish I had bought more :):):))
See my #s
That is the correct #. So 13.4M/394.2M = 0.039929 shares of AAL per AAMRQ share (~3.4%)
I think AAMRQ shareholders have done "very nicely"
Welcome Sir, glad you are still around
So how soon after the 11AM hearing will we know the decision?
I'd buy some at that price :)
Ha, Don't worry Ralph - I put yours in with my address :)
So even if the judge approves a partial distribution on 12/6 that will leave a reserve for the remaining few cases so I would expect the partial distribution this year and the final final final 14th distribution in 2019... :)
I assume the distribution will be in AAL shares so I may hold them a while, although I believe they will already be deemed long term for CGains.
Anyone have better data on this aspect?
This looks like a significant objection to distribution of the DCR at this time.
