For those outside of the area looking for info.
I live here and have for about 15 years. The infrastructure is sound for RTRAF. There is housing, shopping, food and industrial. This area is cheaaaappppppp for land and housing. Ever since Springs Industries left this area has been in a constant economic struggle.
The area in proximity to the gold mine is pretty much woods. Very few people live around the area of the mine. As seen here: Google Maps
So the impact to the community is negligible unless you consider the fact that Hailes Gold Mine is going to employee many of the currently 10%(reported) unemployed in the area. Which they already do. Only 2 years ago Lancaster counties unemployment rate was almost 20%(reported). Now granted Hailes isnt employing the other 10% but they are helping. This gold mine is going to help re-stimulate the local economy. As well as make lots of money for us investors.
I have actually gone and talked to a few of the members of their "management" team and planners that are currently here. They were all very nice and seem genuinely interested in keeping the community happy and impacting them at least as possible. I'm not sure if they are still letting people on to the property because they have been doing a lot of equipment moving and construction, but if they are I recommend going to talk to them in person.
Lastly ill say that I do understand where the nay'ers are coming from, but what other industry has come to this area with such promise, offering so many jobs, and putting so much money into the community.
Also as an investment this company looks very sound. 0 debt, lots of capital and they have really reigned in their spending over the past year. They will be able fund their project for well longer than the project start of digging.
