Ooooooh! I feel the excitement... The posse's finally arrived. 0y vey
That's all fine and dandy... Pretty exciting right? So, what's the holdup? They should be in IGAs by now, distribution by who? What's going on with that? If it makes so much sense environmentally and per yield efficiency, then why are they stuck in Mirabel? As for the stock frenzy? Groome, beer guy, and some other rich K-guy. These guys are paying themselves, rotating the chief door, while no produce is getting out... except for the peanuts mentioned on this clip that "get it". This company may have some good news coming out, but what are they doing with all that produce? Nobody's buying it. Compost? The hype has been building for years, and still nothing - except some expensive facility and equipment with huge overhead and incompetent leadership. Why would this company need a director of finance when their produce is being flushed down the toilet? What's there to compute? Waste? Good luck y'all.
I'm hearing some good news that will explode soon... We should get it before 2020...
Video: I like, I like... I'm just trying to wrap the lettuce around the numbers... I don't get why this whole process in concept isn't off the ground by now. Have you ever been stuck in an airplane on the tarmac for hours and it's just not moving... And no explanation why? Capture that feeling and it's what I feel about this company. And adding that they change the pilot every year or two, then you have to be asking, is it the leadership? Yeah, damn right it is. Ok, so I'm skeptical about this new guy with the beer name... But, as the saying goes, once a sucker... At least the tweet machine is up again, and the video is A-material, so I'm crossing my fingers for some action... I'm such a sucker!
This is the scoop: cyclical incompetence. Now, it's this birdbrain's turn. Even if "in the know" are buying this penny stock, the history of this company is repetitive yanking of the chain. Since the last few years, there were a whole bunch of false reports that cranked and tanked when they didn't come true. If you have URBF stock, imho sit on it, and if it rises to a recoverable level for you, get the heck out!
URBF needs TRUMP leadership. Lots of snoozing going on here... unless of course, these guys are playing my turn to be big cheese until they are the big cheese of a hollow shell. BOOHOO fricken Who's in charge? It's not rocket science. Grow the stuff and sell it.
BBye Groomey. Good news is for every purchase of a URBF plant, you get a free Heineken. It's green, and part of the president's special. Big things r a comin...
Not much and none of ur fricken business. It does seem that this company was a hope for da best and is turning out to be a lifetime achievement reward if it actually gets some traction. SB, this company is not a ten-bagger, maybe the opposite. I would just like to see this kind of solution happen to help humanity. Unfortunately, it's probably gonna go belly-up unless people really start caring.
It just gets uncomfortable when no news comes out months later after hype is built up from none other than the big guy himself. As usual you are much more patient and optimistic than I am. I see the potential and I want to see the progress. If months go by and no real time news is out there, no wonder the market gets jittery about this start-up that's been starting up for years. I know it's different now compared to the egg-heads that were in charge over a year ago, maybe you're right DDR. I say by June we'll know what the story is. All I'm suggesting is that Groome doesn't get paid until shareholders do. Makes sense, no?
My point exactly. Financing to pay Groome? How can he or any administrative member of a regime get paid for a company that can't produce progress or results. Now, if things are moving towards profitability through real growth, I agree, pay the guy. If not, shareholders are paying for his lifestyle? He shouldn't have one if his company is not succeeding. He should be taking pubic transportation or a bike. What's he driving? Who's paying for that? I thought big news with big distribution was coming. Is it just big hype? They could post all that's wrong with conventional farming, produce, distribution, weather, blah-blah-blah. URBF is still selling and distributing squat. The rubber has to hit the road soon. BTW, what's his investment in all of this? Does he have some skin in the game? Or is he just along for the ride?
Well, we're supposed to be getting some awesome, or at least encouraging news about distribution and revenue progress soon? Right? I'm going to throw something out there > Groome doesn't make or benefit a penny's worth until the company gets off the ground. As for his CFO? Once revenues grow and losses shrink, CFO becomes secondary. Heck, my 10 year-old would be able to do that job. If the company becomes top-heavy and has no real exponential growth, it will become a sham, a shame really. So, let's hope the ball is rolling and good news is on it's way, or else, it will all come tumbling down as it did before. As for the case that's being twitted, yeah everyone gets it. Now it is getting to the point that if it makes so much sense, then why aren't things progressing? Maybe they are? So, show it to us. Wake up!
BTW, when there is no news, it's usually a bad sign. I learned that through bad experiences with start-ups. News anyone?
If we base our expectation on what the head honcho stated, what's coming down the pipe the next 2 quarters (including this one) will be significant growth which should be reflected not only on the top, but also bottomline. That would be logical if they're building more capacity. Like I stated, it will be interesting if they grow their products to fruits and other veggies. What I see as a goal is monthly revenue going towards a mil if we want to approach profitability; heck, I'll be happy with half a mil by this summer. I may be too optimistic? If not, it will get antsy.
You and me both. It just seems to me that the world needs more good stuff like this. My hope is that it catches on and it becomes more than just a gimmick run by bean counters.
Some bozo just traded $20 @ .02 a share. That's what happens when not much is going on... Ok, I'll just wait a little longer to see what develops this spring...
Not much action in the bullpen. Tired of seeing some bonehead(s) trading the stock at 2 cents. Some need to get paid I guess. C'mon, wake up already. This is supposed to be the mobilization phase, not hibernation. Not that I'm not patient, but what's the hold-up? Smells like stagnation. Groome?
My old friend DDR, I presume stands for DONT DO RONG? Anyway, you and I have been URBF critics for the past few years. We pretty much saw I2I on most of the deceitful crap that came out of this company by the old regime. That is why I was so skeptical about Mr. Groome. BUT, there is now a wave of new interest and investment producing some real vegetables with real credible distribution and retail partners that are no slouches. HAPPY NEW YEAR! NEW BEGINNINGS! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER! (I'm not a Treky, it just feels right)... You go URBF, the planet needs guys like you to succeed.
Patience is a key element when following URBF. Only the last few months have we seen legitimate steps towards real potential for growth. Before that, it was Mickey meets Minnie over and over for years. What reality is now meets what we can actually physically see and touch in Mirabel, McGill, and distribution which is taking off slowly but surely. Patience grasshopper, we'll see by summer 2015 where we're at. Happy Holidays!
This company has transformed from a fantasy, making pie in the sky predictions under the previous leadership, to a real breakthrough in agricultural potential. I'm a believer in this new research and tech. As soon as the product hits the shelves, I'm a buyer. If the greens and purples are only the beginnings, and if the reds and yellows will be of superior quality, this company may be transformed into a rocket ship ready for blast-off. I'm impressed with what has been accomplished in the last few months by Mr. Groome & co from top to bottom getting it out there and making URBF a credible game changer. Imagine what this can do in some places on this planet!
Some of the responses from recent headlines are too funny. Funny in the sense that they are all over the place. However, people are actually taking the time to notice and talk about this new frontier. No need to dissect each comment, the fact that many have shown interest and have reacted is very positive. Once again, I tip my hat to Mr. Groome and the URBF TEAM. I like the way this is rolling out. I used to be one of the biggest skeptics, not anymore...
Very good exposure on L&C Qc TV. Mr. Groome passionate and did an excellent job presenting en français! Congrats URBF, this seems to be a positive step forward. Lâchez pas.
The products will be packaged in plastic containers? Hope not. This would be a mistake IMO, both for perception and PnL, will not be positive. When will the product be available at outlets?
The annual report in terms of the numbers will be uuuuugly. That will not be a surprise because they did not start shipping the stuff until recently. PROGRESS in a few important areas is the key for success next year. You are correct patience for now DDR. There will be plenty of opportunity for celebrating if this thing actually takes off. I'm really hoping that there is a growth strategy that is aggressive and viable for the first half of 2015. If not, major disappointment again.
I didn't take up the invite to check out the plant. I did drive by the highway coincidentally and it really does exist. Progress last couple of months has been enough to tone down the pessimism. Only question now is where do they take it from here. You would think they would make a lot of noise about where to get the produce. It might still be very early in the distribution stage. I've been more patient waiting for breakout news. That's what they need really, to breakout of the development stage onto the revenue and viability stage. I really hope they have an aggressive growth strategy now that they're finally moving stuff out of the plant.
I'm looking forward to getting some feedback and/or results from the initial distribution MOUs and sales of URBF produce. I have not seen any produce in IGA locations. I hope the price is comparable to similar produce. The biggest mistake initially could be arrogance and/or blind greed. In general, consumers won't pay much more for organic and/or new farming tech/innovation, I'll bet the farm on that. Initial market penetration is soooo important and it can lead to bigger and better things or bust. My point is that consumers need to do the talking by mouth and by purchase, IMHO. I sincerely hope this is part of the equation. Marketing, merch, hype, very important as well... This will not sell itself. Good luck and glad to see some progress. Hope to see some fruits soon as well.
Cool snippet with 10 reasons to like URBF produce. If this keeps up I will eat my words about Groome. Looks promising! I wanna help put up that giant machine. Looks awesome!
I'm really looking forward to buying URBF produce at IGA. You have my support! Now this is more like it. Keep it going!
Really? Will do, thx!
And a cocka-doodle-doo to you. I have been so very skeptical due to the cackling from Meikleheim about entering different parts of the world, including Kazakhstan, which was obviously a bunch of crap. So, salut to the old guard including Benne and co... And, I really get the sense from this MOU that the BS is over. I'll be the first to apologize for being way off about my Groome comments, if of course this goes somewhere. I wonder where I can get a taste of some of their product?
Finally, some news that is credible and has potential! I'm looking forward to timely updates and hoping to taste or see some URBF produce out there.
OMG! VACUUM AT THE TOP! This is supposed to be an exciting time with the new facility up and running... Instead it's crickets... nothing... Who do you think is responsible for that? Do I really need to repeat myself again & again & again? Have you checked out the new web page? NOTHING! NO UPDATES! C'MON, that's leadership? The suits at the top are really not into this full-time. This is a little side project for them. It shows, because nothing is happening. Wait till you see the results in a couple of months. It will be jaw-dropping: Revenue? Profit? Can't wait for the flop...
And?... Same old... There aren't enough grocery outlets and restaurants in Quebec? They should be at least making some noise somewhere. This is what happens when a number cruncher is at the helm of an innovative fresh produce tech company. Wrong guy folks. Unless of course this business is a dud.
They did the same thing out west making a big splash about selling their first crop to a local hotel that led to nothing but outrageous news alerts about entering all kinds of countries that just never added up to anything. It was a joke!!! Most of the fogies that headed the company are now gone... Fast forward to this announcement, maybe it's different, maybe same old BS. The product looks great. The facility looks great. If this does not advance and turn into something viable, I would say by next spring, it will reinforce the statements that I've made over and over again... It's heavily based on leadership. What the heck does a guy like Groome have as credentials. He's been around the last couple of years while this company has been a joke. Obviously, this may be a new beginning, we'll see. Groome needs to stop patting himself on the back for his past accomplishments and focus on getting this company off the ground. If he can't, he should just get out of the way and let a real leader do it... Really trying to be positive but too many lies, or at the very least misleading information made by this company over and over again, leads me to be very skeptical. And, I presume lots of the positive reactions are staged. That's the virtual world we live in folks, anyone can stage wow reactions that are just not there. The real wow will be if this thing takes off.
“I’m pleased that this transaction has closed and that we can now focus on this tremendous opportunity before us,” said Jack Benne, President and CEO of Urban Barns. “Now that all of these administrative issues are behind us, we can start moving Urban Barns, forward at a rapid pace. We’re confident that in the next few months we’ll provide our shareholders with many exciting developments as our company expands and changes the way people in urban environments get their fruit and vegetables.”
A couple of typos in this statement... Like, rapid pace (should be snail's pace)... and, next few months (should be next few years hopefully ;()
You missed my point. MANAGEMENT of this company HAS STUNK!!! The flat-out lies, or at least giving it the benefit of some doubt, erroneous information that has been released... they made it seem like they were spreading all over the planet like weeds. In the end, the so-called founders have abandoned ship. I'm pleased about that... And you're saying they've done a pretty good job? Now, some competent people have started to take over this project. But, unfortunately there is no hype, no information locally about this "EXCITING", "AMAZING", "REVOLUTIONARY", "GAME-CHANGING", "QUALITY", "LOW-COST",,, heck say something! That's why I get the feeling that leadership is lacking. There is a vacuum at the top. Whatever, as I stated over and over, Groome has to go. He's too busy crunching numbers and patting himself on the back about his accomplishments and sitting on boards. I'm not impressed.
I'm a little skeptical about the profitability of this new facility. Usually, the way it's supposed to go down is that you build hype and a long line of suppliers and/or retailers will want to jump on the band wagon. Is this what's going on right now? I'm afraid not with Groome at the helm. He's a snoozer. At the end of this year, we'll see if he's a... rhymes with snoozer. Not that I want any hardship to fall on anyone, but this is a public company and it's time to get off the ground. In any business, the guy/gal at the top is a mover, a shaker, or a stump - you know, a chump. URBF needs a champ. So far, I haven't got the feeling a champ is at the top. C'mon guys move it!
I'm actually in shock that URBF has received major investment (takeover) and they are actually opening a facility this year. It just goes to show that boneheads can scuttle anything (in the past). Groome really doesn't say much; nor does he make much of a splash about anything. Everything in the past has been false or not actually achieved (lies). Looking forward, I predict he is a temporary fixture. If I'm wrong it's because he's taken some major leaps forward. Don't hold your breath. We've been disappointed before. DDR is correct, he hasn't been around since the idiot founders botched things up from the beginning, so maybe I've been too harsh to dump on him (I don't think so). BUT, I'm willing to tone down the rhetoric until year's end. That should give him plenty of time to get things off the ground. Remember, a number cruncher is just that. A leader and visionary directs the number crunchers and explodes the business through organic growth driven by great communication, creativity, excitement, and finally COLD HARD CASH RESULTS THAT EVERYONE WANTS TO BE A PART OF. Good luck to all.
Well, this is certainly something new for URBF. The only part I don't get is why this guy Groome is still around??? He's certainly not green and growing. In fact, he was part of the problem with the other bean counters. We'll see, maybe he'll turn over a new leaf. He better, or he'll be toast.
Action in the bullpen...
Last summer I used to sit for hours watching my grass grow. You do it often enough, you actually see some growth. You become ultra-sensitive to the slightest micrometer of upward sprouting movement. I guess that was the training I needed to stay patient with the bunch of incompetent tools at the top of this company. If any of you useless logs are reading this, basically you stink. You stink as directors. You stink as financial bean counters. In fact, I don't know how you could have messed up the growth of this company more, short of wrapping up and closing shop... Which I think is up next. I think that just about sums up my feelings for URBF. BTW, is there anyone out there other than the turds running the company on this blog? Groome has to go. So do the other clowns. What are they doing exactly = NOTHING MUCH.
At first, I was going with my gut and giving a 0%. But, I do believe in miracles and the afterlife, so stranger things have happened...
