Agreed-- that was definitely the case at $0.30; I thought flipping to one of the big cos would be prudent as well.
Now, fallen from $2, but on the way back up, maybe someone will want to catch this knife again!
Slainte, Fun!
Nice summary, FUN! Thanks very much
This presentation seemed to me--more than the usual-- to be speaking to a 'potential' suitor. Anyone else think so as well?
Very busy with work. Hope all are well.
S
Someone should pin this post, for the last 2 paragraphs.
On the other hand, Q looked pretty good. Same slow progress.
Slainte, all.
Boru was in the game. They let it their momentum drop.
Tough day today. None sold here, thinking of buying. 4 days...
Big Pallini display at Bertuccis in Framingham ma. Bartenderssays it's the limoncello of choice for them.
Good to hear. Wonder if that's the case in all Bertuccis...
Happy New Year. Hope all are well.
Oh, and also was VERY happy to see Pallini remain a couple weeks back.
Hey, all-- Great Q. Been very busy with work; 20+ hour days. Very happy to see Schwein got my spot (Go Bobcats!) I picked up a few more shares two weeks ago-- very glad I did.
What are you looking for this Q? I'd like to see Boru stabilize-- PLUG this product in Late Feb & March! There aren't too many Irish vodkas out there. Can turn this into THE seasonal drink-maker for those who aren't into browns & beers.
Slainte & best to all.
Hey, Pete-- been a long time. Still following the old co?
Howard, how did all of the officer/insider acquisitions over the past couple of weeks feel to you?
For me, the products and track record toward profitability speak for themselves. Yes it's been a long haul and yes I wish they had more aggressive marketing.
Externally, no, I have no idea how the macro environment will affect the co, but we've had major bumps in the macro environment before that haven't affected this stock's value much. Whether it's booze or the relative 'low' SP that insulates us is neither here nor there. I suspect both. If the environment gets to the point where ROX's target clientele stops buying bottles, then it could affect the corp, but may still not affect the price. That's similar to what we saw in '09-10.
1.05 is a BUY, in my opinion. Bullish? 20% gain would be render a SP of $1.26. Yeah, I'm bullish at this level.
Good article. Very interesting, thanks!
Plus 1 here to this, Funman. Decent quarter. "Whiskeys up 106%"!!! I would love to see the breakdown though, Jeffs v Irish. Now let's get the other brands some chatter too!
-- and this has to be a buy at this point. Thought I lost my chance to pick up more... Maybe not quite yet, but I expect acceleration thru the end of the year.
Schwein, my Irish Ass is offended by your name! Slainte!
Forgive me, can't review all now. GO ROX GO!
Thanks, FUN, Working full time while trying to build a small business is always a challenge. I'm hoping I get to crack it open before the George Clooney edition! (that would be Ocean 11!)
Sorry – not "I like", but instead "just like the good old days." – That is to say that low-volume and penny standoffs were extremely common back I ate couple of years ago.
I just like the good old days.
Mine is also Voyage 3. Bought it about 4 mos ago.
I haven't opened it-- saving it for when my business turns a profit.... Or dies a horrible, horrible death.
$1.00? Come on man. If that's your target, then I seriously think you're done with ROX. That's not to say it could NEVER happen...but (all else equal) barring a global meltdown I think you shouldn't look that low.
Interesting thoughts, concerns.
Pallini is one of those top notch liqueurs, but this is again where I feel like ROX itself doesn't do enough to support its brands. If you're a distributor, then you must be a marketer, and I think that for many brands--- especially those that can be a little stagnant (e.g, anything not named Jefferson's or Goslings,) no minor guerrilla marketing campaign can turn them over into 'hot' territory. You need to get the brand seen, tasted, and desired.
I also think it's no accident that the people Gosling and Zoeller are the two owners that continue to work their own brands hard despite whatever ROX is or is not supposed to do according to their agreements.
Equally indicative, our "dogs" the B&S wines and Drink Pies had MAJOR buzz and accolades before ROX got their hands on them... And they seem to have died namely because ROX didn't stoke the fires. We can add the Boru gaffe to that list, too-- there they HAD the buzz, but in a hypersaturated, flighty vodka market, sitting around and whispering in peoples ears via Twitter isn't gonna cut it.
Enter Sergio Zyman...
...exit, Sergio Zyman.
So let's all understand that Castle is an impotent marketer. That's not good for a product like booze; especially not good for a niche or an emerging brand.
Yes. Impotent.
So if you were the Pallini team, why would you stay with a distribution partner like this?
Sure, you can lament the sucking sound we'd all hear from the money going out the door for ads and such, but (1) we're not seeing that money anyway; (2a) the sucking sound we heard most recently was the vacuum that Zyman made when he left (2b) if this is a concern, the sucking sound we may hear next is Pallini leaving; and (3) the sucking sound I lament most is when I inquire of a bartender in an Irish pub and she tells me, "I've never heard of Knappogue or Clontarf, we haven't had Boru for years, and no, I don't know about Celtic Honey. You're making things up." (No need to mention Brady's here.) That's where 3 years of 'Irish to the Core' has gotten us.
For those of you who don't know me, or think I'm a naysayer or basher, that's simply not true. I may challenge almost any of these guys & gals in ROX longevity. I first bought at .22 in '09, and have held uninterrupted positions ever since. With very few exceptions, they control a heck of a portfolio and I believe in the brands completely. My sole point of frustration just about since day 1 has been the lack of marketing prowess or even apparent concern for same. I guess it's just time for my semiannual marketing rant.
Slainte
... By the way, also picked up some limited edition Knappogue that was "bottled exclusively for the State of New Hampshire" too. Green label Knapp, which I thought was a little odd, but what the hay? Bottle no 44 of 260, I believe.
I picked it up at the NH state liquor store for $80. You DEFINITELY have a deal.
I wonder if we were there around the same time... Mid 90's for me. I sure do miss the Salt Lick.
Regardless, I'm in a few booze stocks and they all seem to be doing this right now. I assume for different reasons, but maybe there's a correlation (exchange rates, Greece, oil.... grains). Hmmmm.....
Schwein, just out of curiosity, where are you in CenTex? I'm a Boston kid but a TX State grad and my Dad and Sis are there too-- Sis has returned after matriculation from SUNY Binghamton (I can't explain why she'd return... But it's her choice...)
Someone artificially keeping us down? All we need is Zacks to chime in...(lol)
SA article... I'm buying if there's a dip.
Long. Not tomorrow, not next week, LONG.

I just found an apartment building in GA. "Suite" is really an apt. The 512 area code is Austin Tx, the (ahem) "suite" is ga, and the biz is allegedly "off shore"
Ga address appears to be for BLUU, not Taurus.
I'll work on JAWS.
Lol. ...I'll see what I can do. Does the address lead back to a box in a ups store somewhere? Something like that?
Hi-- I'm in Real Estate Development. This sounds like a regular, plain old hard money loan to me. Especially where they said it was a loan "not related to their core business" or whatever. These loans are very common among all types of companies, but especially small investors, developers and start ups.
You guys are in Finance--I don't need to tell you this... But in case anyone is unaware, Hard money is private lending generally at a rate of 12-15%. I was just seeking a loan for a rehab myself and have quotes from 12.5-14% A lender taking 3-7 points (the $5k 'discount' you allude to, or 5 points in this case) on a commercial asset is also very common. Finally, private lenders-- like any lender-- generally seek the greatest collateral possible-- there is no real property yet, so I'm not surprised that they sought stock conversion. If the real asset fails, lender still holds something of value, however small.
In the U.S., interest and points on a loan are amortizable and deductible as such. They MIGHT have to take it over 39 Years, but they might not, too, under a shorter term loan. Seems like the only reason we know about this at all is because the co is public.
Anyone want to know more, you can PM me, but I don't pay to subscribe here, so send me an email.
For the record, I've been long BLUU for a time... Bought around 0.02 and rode up to 12...then back down to here. Granted, I have a conservative position, but hey, we all should in this equity for now. I'm also long ROX (6 years) and DEO (8 years).
Penne-- sorry, I can't send private. You sent me an invite I wanted to acknowledge... But I don't pay. Hope you get this before it's moderated (in which case I don't blame them!)
All the best to you, 033
your PR came out today, Oakaly. Better late than pregnant, as they say?
Very happy, FUN. Slainte.
Sure, I'm exaggerating at 50, certainly. They're crazy, but like us many are 'real'. Some (myself and a couple others I knew of) are in both. (I haven't been on that board in almost a year, I think...work's so busy, I'm barely even on this board, these days.).
I think someconcerns gave us the best possible reply about this matter.
Sure, Gingi... I was referring to that section of the AR, though. I didn't see a section for 'Partner Imbibers' but I'd like to be on that list, too! Maybe we can recommend?
Thanks, SC!! Great info. Now it begins to make sense.
200 common stock holders ??!? Anyone got a comment on that? I think there are 50 here and another 50 on Yahoo... 200 feels pretty low.
Very happy with the Annual Report ... And the Blackhawks won too-- Go Original 6! go ROX go!
Good point, Okaly
Hey, all: I Found Tierras for only the second time ever (been following Castle for 7 years). I purchased the single bottle of Reposado they had; no Anjeo or blanco (forgive my spelling).
It was at a very nice, completely stocked, and relatively new 'packie' (liquor store) in Waltham MA. They said they had it a while; don't expect them to bring it back in, unfortunately. It's rather tasty. Smooth, for a tequila.
I didn't look for all of the products, but I did bump into 3 Jeffs brands there.
slainte.
Agreed Soldier. Maybe St. Patrick will drive the shorts out of ROX today.
Slainte & Cead Mile Failte, all
Form 4s this am are good to see. Ack's by Lampen & Zeitchick should help add confidence.
I look forward to reading this carefully as soon as I have a moment; I, too, am unconcerned and added today as well.
St. Pats around the corner... 5 Irish brands.... Boston, NY, Chicago, Philly, and Atlanta (among other Irish strongholds) on tap. THIS would be the time I'd like to see some conventional advertising from them.
Slainte, all.
Do what you have to, Soldier, no offense here. I was unaware of 'such' a prohibition-- at least to this level-- and am genuinely interested In what people from 'our' group think, because many of us share common mindsets.
Regardless, we're safe here, and no offense taken.
