Definitely LONG because of the new unconverted engines on the floor right now.
I had said there were two groups of engines for the Middle East and Africa (MENA) and those engines on the floor for immediate conversion.
Technically speaking there is another but not a 'group' so much as the special case for the 250 kW unit from Cat that will arrive for conversion. It is a test mule with an entirely different set of running criteria. I would really like to see the punch sheet on that one.
No more poppets!!
10 gensets to be shipped are already sitting on the floor at Coates (and have been for a long time) ready to have the new heads fitted.
The pictures of theses engines are on the Coates web site. The full blocks, radiator and skid have not gone out of design spec for the current market.
From what I have seen there is no super magic needed or holdback in design. ALL of the parts MUST be in house for the conversions to be completed. GC or any other wise builder will not set an 'out the door' start date until ALL the parts needed are at rest on the assembly cell shelves, period.
Schedule dates can slip but ship dates are cast in stone and backed by law suits. When the last of the parts sit on the shelves, correctly made by the vendors, those 10 or more gensets will ship and provide a basis for projecting scheduled builds.
In GC's last PR he separated the MENA (dual fuel, nat gas & standalone propane gens) from "Industrial" units on the floor..... "However, we should be shipping the industrial CSRV generators on an earlier timeframe."
That time frame is not 6 months. In fact, that time frame has immediacy attached.
These are two separate engine groups, one group on the floor ready to convert and ship and the other group to be customized per fuel use for MENA, per their specific requirement/request & build quantity.
That is a terrific buy signal. IMO
Remember, most nat gas diesel type engines need to start on diesel then switch to gas when heated up to optimum temp. Some units need to have a small admix of diesel to the nat gas to keep the piston cool and lubed on part of the stroke.
There are specialty coatings for pistons and cylinders not to mention the base cyl block casting materials that negate the use of added diesel. Lots of variables.
GC knows this stuff well. Not a concern for me. Stay longer.
ADD spark to WPRT engine.... this from their profile...
"Cummins Westport serves the medium- to heavy-duty engine markets with spark ignited natural gas engines."
Close but no cigar compared to CSRV.
Ref #13100 as BS?
Since you asked if my visit and speaking to George Coates was in your words "probably BS?"
No it is not BS and that is a fact.
My feeling is that George and Jack are aware that they need not dance to the tune of Cummins or anyone else. I should not forget that GC holds the exclusive license and non exclusive license scepter.
They could very well be trolling for a far better set of corporate partners. Really good engineers and tribologists know where the technology art is headed and the CSRV is most doable.
IMO the delay is not related to whether or not there is a plant or there is proof. G&J are looking for more than a 12 point buck, they want the whole herd.
To all manufactures of ICEs, that is really scary.
Go COTE no more poppets.
I believe you hit the nail on the head that todays invitational to the house of CSRV is not a dog and pony show.
Your comments though, prompted recollections of deals made in my past where the biggest company was not always the best sale or the best VAR (in computers we had Value Added Resellers). Sometimes a huge company getting on board with our company was not the preferred deal.
GC has the ability to assign exclusive and nonexclusive license and limitations therein also. Even though Cummins is probably the big guy on the block, it may not be the wisest move for GC. There may be better fish to fry. This is not a chess game, it is real $ and some real snaking around.
The Cummins 'deal' may be a lot more tentative because GC can go to a few other manufactures and get a much better long term outcome.
just thinking out loud here.
Yes indeed it is very true..... That only in a place such as China is an institution granted a 'corporate power' to 'market' a system for a for profit entity with no scrutiny. Why, because the university is a functional arm of a state corporation. Yep, that is one way to check out a machine and guarantee the machine's employment. It is in this sentence......
WHEREAS, Tongji University is contracted to test the CSRV Engine at its Automobile Advanced Research Center in Shanghai, China, under the entrustment of Coates, and will produce a formal engine performance report after the test. If the test result demonstrates significant improvement by the CSRV Engine comparing with original engines, Tongji University will set up cooperative program with Coates to promote and market the CSRV technology in China.
Try thinking... He was not a Coates director at that time. Duh!!
7 minutes 38 seconds into the video reveals Jack's motive and impetus with Coates.
THAT IS A HUGE FACT that doubters cannot abide.
Absolutely no doubts.
The technology employed is beyond reproach.
Zero, null, nada can convince my tech background and life that this is not a winner.
If folks are not in at this price, they have earned the right to absolute failure as a stockholder or
investor to anything. IMO
COTE is preparing for a major positive event IMO.
At .0055 or lower, is a great time to increase stock purchase.
It is now in the realm where I will, once again, have some fun increasing my holdings.
I am not dissuaded by two or three posters who have not met GC in person and been to the plant.
I have, and understand fully the great technology employed and patented. IMO, no buy no win.
EdwardNY and Stay Long are both correct. I respect both views and better to have different views that are positive about a struggling company with huge patents than to be among the desperate few who tout the seedy short side for repayment from short groups. Remain long and buy all you can of COTE.
I do not believe either SL or I was being bitchy. Just some tech update for those unaware of carbon alloys. Thanks for the reset though.
I believe I had mentioned 'similar to'. More than that, only GC and the real God know the exact mix. I would also wager that the mix will change a number of times in a year as newer alloys are found that satisfy heat and wear demands. I have seen and used this stuff and it is superb. Alloys are near limitless.
Good Reason to Bounce UP. A graphite alloy similar to this one is used, product name withheld.
Self-Lubricating
Requires no grease or oil. Permits continuous operation and eliminates downtime.
Hot
Works at high temperatures where oil-based lubricants burn off or oxidize and plastics fail. Operating temperatures to 1,500º F / 800º C (in non-oxidizing atmospheres). Will not gum or seize.
Cold
Does not congeal or solidify at low temperatures or cryogenic conditions. Maintains self-lubrication.
Dry
Works without lubrication. Survives run dry applications. Eliminates galling or seizing in hot and dry conditions. Will not attract dust.
Wet
Operates submerged. Will not swell or wash out. Withstands a wide variety of hostile fluids.
Dimensionally stable
Does not cold flow or deform under pressure. Maintains its size and shape.
Chemically Resistant
Insoluble in most industrial liquids. Works in acids, alkalies, hydrocarbons, water, and liquid gases.
Low Coefficient of Friction
Constant, low coefficient of friction. Not just a surface layer, solid throughout.
Linear Motion
Maintains lubrication during linear motion. Lubrication is not drawn out and dust is not pulled in.
Current Conducting
Eliminates sparks and static. Conducts well.
FDA Accepted
Accepted for food services. No lubrication to drip or cleanup. Easily steam cleaned.
Would you sell at $50 or wait for $100 or $200 as occurred with PCYC at a $265 final buyout?
Time will tell, stay long.
The same technology used to grind cams is used to grind the shafts with spheres on them.
One problem is that the spheres are not straight across the face but curved. Very close control is needed and this elevates the grinding art to perfection.... nothing less. The better the grind, the longer the sphere shaft lasts while in contact with the graphite concave seal.
Same type machining operation as cams, just more involved and controlled.
There is time to tell and time to clam up.
I know the systems and the operational needs to a great extent.
I would only 'know' if I saw the actual shipping manifest to USA or China.
So far, this is my limit. IMO
IMO A new carbon seal impregnated with proprietary fill material and a diamond type coating to the shaft allows lower than expected friction with and without water cooling. The new materials and replacement parts are at this moment being prepared for use on Caterpiller 150kw and 250kw gen engines.
Cinetic Landis Ltd, builder of the worlds most advanced cam grinding systems/machines (as big as a house in some instances) has a part to play in the manufacture in NJ (USA) and in China.
You who feel my information is a relief from other posts, are most welcome.
Something is coming down the pipe. Called Cinetic Landis Ltd. Big cam grinders. I know the company from days when I installed their first CAD system and got to know the young fellow who rose to VP and above.
IMO this is a full fledged go. See http://www.cinetic-landis.co.uk/products.php
No I do not. Fill me in please about Ronny Drayer, it does not come up on a google search, Thanks.
For once you were right, this is the only one so far IMO.
Regarding COATES.....

YOU must be referring to the post I just made... I was not aware that H. H. I. G. is a CEO of anything but you probably know the brother better than I.

Titan12 welcome!!
Do you mean, from whence did he amass his fortune before starting Coates?
Facts please. I do know his wealth was fairly gained and what irritates you, is that I do KNOW from whence his wealth came. I can not help the fact that you are ignoring the very facts for which you had asked.
Well put SL. What the Tit and its brother do not realize is that you and I and some others know exactly from whence his wealth came. They also know he worked in the knitting and thread factories across the pond. As a child he was instilled with a major work ethic that is at best completely foreign to the likes of Tit and Bro.
Yes, and I retired in my forties by going long.
Up over 5X at .0066 from .0013. Will not sell until .013 or .13 or 1.30 or maybe just plane $13.00 even.
I am just doing fine, thank you brother.
Just having some more wine and shrimp for dinner, anyone for cocktail sauce?
ooops, hope I did not offend the shorties.
Anytime it goes down I may buy more but for now, bon appetit at .0062.
Right on BR7.
And Jack P is right there to back it up.
I want to know where it says JP was not over in China, also for Coates?
JP has not denied it and BR7 has put it very succinctly... way to go BR7... stay long.
Finally you recognized the stock got to .019 last month?
You ARE learning well 'brother'.
Now, just practice with the number .025.
And if really good, you can go to .10 but don't hurt yourself, ok?
Thanks for sharing, brother.
Is there a possibility you might have a slightly used tissue for the 'brother' at the end of today's close?
12 engines are pictured on the IHUB Coates forum page. One picture is of the engine under test in China. Add the cost of those two together, it is over one million dollars. Having more than a passing relationship in dealing with the Chinese as engineers, businessmen and researchers, the single picture of a Coates engine/generator on a very expensive test base with accompanying load test system is jarringly real.
Since all inquiry into new technology is through the state, people could easily go to prison in China for pulling such a hoodwink of false testing. The test is real and the outcome was most encouraging. Great work there.
I am sure that Jack P is renegotiating all of his company contracts with the Chinese and for Coates and in all probability at the request of the Chinese government, in order to keep workers employed.
As some previous posters have pointed out, the economy in China needs help. Coates sits at a very strong point. I am happy to see everything come to a screeching halt, whilst GC and JP make extremely good future deals and guarantees for production. This may agitate some folks to no end and give the ‘brother’ plenty with which to bash Coates. Well… have at it. I have seen this movie before and made significant wealth. Cheers to GC!!!
Do not forget to Duck and Cover, Brother!
Based on what the 'brother' says and just a smidgeon of good DD, at these prices, dilution is is an oxymoron. I am happy and very long.
