Don't forget about the gaps referenced in the post link back. They are in play
Looked at gold chart longer term over the weekend. Gold has 2 gaps below 1200.
1164.60ish to 1174.50ish on 1-04-17
1141.25ish to 1143.50ish on 12-28-16
not making any judgement on getting them filled...but getting closer every week.
Yes trying to catch bottoms has been futile
Edited...Color me a pessimist but I don't see much of anything working anymore. The Naz and spx are both being held up by very few stocks and metals outright suck. I am out of everything but BYOC...down a few bucks on that one too.
Autos ...steel ..in the crapper. Trade war hurting everything and I don't see China capitulating . They are pretty tough customers. Tired of the slow bleed. On the sidelines.
Pivots low for AG was 5.22 a week or so ago. They missed badly ...2 qtrs in a row
Anyone thinking UVXY ???
Be very careful with this one monmon. Checkout the chart for 6/21 and 6/22. A $9.45 drop in 2 days....and everyone was super bullish in that time period. But to be fair it was right after topping @ 46.23 on the 19 th
IQ musings...The stock is in a descending triangle. It is in a horizontal support level between 30.60 ish and 28.75 ish. If it breaks 28.94 (July 8th low) the next level of support is in the 26.30 to 24.50 range. Break that and you have the 23.75 to 22.35 range.
As bullish as I was on this company (still am long term)I am leaning towards a downtrend for a while longer.
I'm not the greatest chart guy but it looks bearish to me right now
I wish you well Wrinkles. Please disregard my earlier question about your Doctor. It is Sooo none of my business...apologies!!
Monmon...What do you make of the wild action in IQ ?
What kind of Doctor are you hoping to see?
Thank you Sendme. I appreciate you taking the time to chart this stock and offer your views. I have a difficult time seeing signals on a stock that has such a short trading history. I am going to study your work.
Looking at the daily (Stockcharts) I am seeing a rather bearish outlook. It is now under the 50 day MA. Just now testing some horizontal support @ 30.91 ish. RSI @ 44.34 and angled down... negative MACD...and a Slow Stoch looking to test the 20 level. But all of that can turn on a dime if tomorrow's earnings are viewed favorably. News may very well trump technical signals.
I'm thinking I had better step aside and see what happens. If it continues down a pretty good setup might occur. Thanks again.
Sendme... If you have time care to take a stab at where you see Fibonacci support on IQ ? I notice you use some fairly short time frames ( hourly...5 minute). Thank you sir
I missed getting in by 3 cents a while ago. Being cheap can cost you!!
I feel the same way about being in during earnings. I tell myself I want to be in...but my inner chicken self keeps saying don't risk it the downside could be really bad. Will have to think about it some more but I'm leaning to staying out. I can't see anything chart wise either...sorta no man's land right here
IQ is at an interesting place here. From a high of 46.23 in mid June it has fallen into the 30's. It reached 38 twice and was repelled. The lowest it traded in July was 28.94. In the past week the 33.80 level has been the best it has done. Today it is 32 ish. The rising 50 day average is 31.79.
Earnings are Tuesday after the bell. Everyone is expecting blowout results and they will probably get them....the big question is how will the price react to the results. Will it be a big rally ? or sell the news ?
I'm trying to keep my itchy finger off the buy button.
OUT of NUGT @ 21.67. Broke to lower low for today.
Gold might be looking to test the recent low
Congrats on holding. I guess I will stay out for now and wait for a better setup. The chart is in "no man's land" right now so I'm afraid to buy.
I did get 300 shares of NUGT this morning @ 21.75 after stopping out of 550 shs @ 22.30 last night in aftermkt. So that worked out ok....so far.
ABX ..GG ...AEM all missed badly. NEM beat but is down anyway. Must be why my NUGT stopped out last night @ 22.30.
Feel really bad about IQ stopping out but I felt I should try to prevent a loss and protect the bottom line in the stocks that are really volatile...IQ and the triple ETF's.
I could buy NUGT back below my stop but am gunshy this morning
Rats...stopped out of most of my IQ and all of my NUGT. Just looked at account and saw the big AH drop.Gave back most of my profit. Oh well some profit is better than none....I guess!!
Did fairly well on my metals today except for FCX I got stopped out near the low and watched it snap back and failed to get back in. It was a really small position tho...Can't win them all.
I have a feeling we have seen the bottom in metals but don't expect a straight up rally. I think the powers that be will try to fake people out for a while.....Hope I'm right. Good luck to us
I surely hope this time it's for real. We have not had a rally in metals at all this year. I am heavy in metals and IQ as well. Got back in IQ yesterday during the sell off
I think the chart for AG looks especially good right here . It is trading below the 50 day for the first time since February and the indicators are curling upward from deeply oversold conditions. Checkout the Stoch on the daily. MACD and RSI look ready as well. Do you agree?
Completely agree ...so that is your signal to run for cover. I'm back in metals again....slow learner I am
Yes...by all means take care of health issues first. Trading can wait.
Somebody please turn on the lights . It is dark in here...quiet too.
Edited..OUT of IQ @34.75. Don't like RSI Pointing down and Fast Stoch crossing over the Slow Stoch. Going to watch for a while ...protect profits
Anyone have thoughts on UVXY?
OOPS,July 31 is a Tuesday...my bad
Have to give it some more thought but right now I am thinking 50% position as I tend to trade heavier than I should in IQ. Want to make as much as I can but also need to protect profits
Thanks for the update...IQ ER on the 31st after mkt official. I don't particularly like Friday after mkt news. Usually not good when a company does that. Fewer folks paying attention then so maybe not a good sign?
Good wishes here as well. Is he in the hospital?
Out of metals pre-mkt. Gotta be the all time worst metals trader. I stink at it
Just itty bitty uns right now. Hope to grow them big enough for a wheelbarrow
Haven't learned my lesson yet. Starters in AG and USLV. Maybe This is the Turn???
IQ update...support @ 34.70...no major resistance til 42.50.
On another note. My RAM usage seems to be much better using Google Chrome for a browser. Staying in the 30% usage area so far with 14 tabs open and TD Amer. "Think or Swim" streaming. Firefox was letting it grab all of my RAM. Will see how it works out this week.
Anyone have thoughts on USLV / Metals? I don't trust my judgement anymore . I keep getting burned
Thanks but the history tab does not give me any options ...just shows pages I have visited. Appreciate the help though.
Just noticed my memory usage is growing just like in firefox. I googled the problem this past week and found that chrome and FF both are similar. Only way to deal with it that I have found is shut browser down and restart
Firefox or Chrome? Not finding that option
@Sendme...just checked mine with 14 pages open. Processes 160...CPU usage 12%...Memory 36%.
Not trying to be a smartass but it looks like you don't have enough hardware to do the job
That is really high usage. Definitely why you are having problems
Edited..It is most likely a memory problem. Open your task manager and check the performance tab. A graph will come up showing the usage of the processor and one for the memory. Leave it open during the trading day to see if the memory usage grows. If it gets high you will have to shut the browser down and restart it to dump the RAM. It will clearly show up on task manager.
To open task mgr right click in task bar at the bottom and select open task mgr...or click start button and type in task manager
This is for Windows based systems...don't know anything about Mac
Going to give Chrome a shot. Hopefully it won't hog my RAM. As far as computers go I build my own and have for quite a few years. This one runs @ 4.2 Ghz/sec and has 12 Gb ram. We shall see how it goes. I can always start / restart to dump the memory if need be.
Thanks everyone for all the input. Nice to help each other
