Griff ... sorry for not replying sooner, but I honestly didn't see your post until just now.
Thanks and glad to see you're still doing fine.
Good Luck! :)
Glassy ... I agree. It was painful to cover this a.m., but glad that I did now.
Oh yeah, congrats on your profits.
Have a Great Weekend! :)
LAKE - looking like a drunk trying to walk. Looks like the excitement for the longs is about to come to an end, finally.
You got that much right, lol.
Didn't one of the patients realize that he was symptomatic and hopped a plane to the states?
Anyway, I got out on the dip after the open this a.m. 17.64 just happened to be the AH's low yesterday, or thereabouts.
jj ... you still holding LAKE?
OT: My grandpa always said, "What will be, will be." He had a knack for stating the obvious, but he never had a problem sleeping each night.
Dang low floaters! :)
Fyi, when I posted this, LAKE was nearing the 17 mark.
LAKE - According to Bloomberg, the case in Spain wasn't related to Ebola.
And the latest patient isn't showing signs, which are related to Ebola.
But, W. Africa is a totally different story.
LAKE - has the sell-off begun?
I added as it went up and the only news is that the WHO decreased the # of deaths in W. Africa to around 3,600.
So, I'll keep holding, and if nothing else, tomorrow should be profit-taking, big time. But, if up 30+% ... I'd be taking profits now, lol.
Unreal, 14.
Good thing I only fly private. It's hard hanging on to the bottom of the plane, but my forearms are ripped, lol!
Hopefully, this is the exhaustion gap. I added to mine too, and have other shares ready to short.
It's definitely possible, and honestly, I wouldn't mind ss'ing more higher. That said, one of the news articles referred to the scare as the virus hit Spain.
With tomorrow being Thursday, it very well could have another leg up. IMO, if it doesn't gap up at the open, I think it dips before going higher, if it does go higher.
FYI, my average is 11.50, so with what I saw on level II towards the end of the day, I feel really good about holding here.
I'll feel even better if I can get more shares to ss, if needed, tomorrow a.m.
GOOD LUCK!! :)
LAKE - thanks for the info. I last added to my position at 11.69; and again, have more shares "reserved" (day+ext only) for 12.5 & 13.
Used to be able to reserve shares w/ a GTC order, which was great, since you could reserve all that you wanted and short them whenever the stocks got toppy.
SHLD - glad I shorted some ... none available now. :(
Z ... looks like I may have gotten one of the two right, lol.
SHLD ... still watching to see if it retakes and holds the 200.
Z ... in some for a bounce, I hope. And depending on the rest of the session, close specifically, might take it for my gapper pick.
SHLD ... one I thought many times about ss'ing well above $100/sh yr's ago. Looks like its bounce is coming to an end?
Thanks for the reply, info.
I think it's best for me to focus on what I know more, stocks.
I'd hoped to be back today at the latest; however, it's looking more like tomorrow, Friday or even Monday at the very latest. That said, I really can't wait to get back to trading f/t, again.
Until Then, GOOD LUCK! :)
OT: Okay, so I'm not the most popular person on the board, lol, referring to my wanting help learning options. It was silly of me to even ask, so for that part, I do apologize.
Good news, and I know that I've said this before too; however, I'm going to be coming back to the board on a more permanent basis, starting Tuesday most likely or Wednesday, at the latest.
And, I'm a paid subscriber now, so since I'm paying $10/month, you can rest assured that I'll be bringing my "A game", lol.
Seriously though, I'm hoping to have fun, participate in the daily picks for Gappers and Tankers; and of course, make as many profitable trades as possible, maximizing gains and minimizing losses.
Flow out, and GOOD LUCK! :)
OT: I can't be glued to the computer anymore, so I'm curious if anyone would want to help me learn options? I've always just traded stocks, primarily, and want/need to learn options for obvious reasons. I don't expect "free advice" either.
So if someone is able, willing ... let me know via private message and we'll discuss the details.
With 53 "followers", I'd be busy too. :)
ARWR: Sorry, I don't have the link (it was from my trading platform).
Per an August 26 report, Deutsche Bank raised the possibility of ARWR being acquired, iff it releases positive results of its hepatitis drug later this year.
All I can say, if all goes well, I hope the price for treatment will be less than the current treatment available, $86k; however, that's only if you live in the U.S. The cost to other countries is A LOT lower! Go figure.
I remember that day, because I was watching ARWR in eh's and it was going up (more than what I thought, or had seen previously). Apparently, they (the panel) were talking about the next bio-tech buyout possibilities.
I think she's also the fund manager for Cramer's charitable trust.
Guess someone changed their mind ... http://www.thestreet.com/story/12862965/4/5-stocks-poised-for-big-breakouts.html
Imagine that. Last time I checked, it had all "buy" ratings, except I think Cramer was dis'ing it, lol.
ARWR: Since it's last earnings report, it sold-off, but had gone up previously. It was in the 11's, in eh's (I think); then it was up and down, especially off 14.75. The last good entry, if you went long, was went it dipped back to 14.10, but it only hit 14.11 that day, lol, but still.
I agree with you as far as holding 1000's of shares, b/c anything can happen. IMO, it's a good way to destroy your portfolio. "Slow and steady wins the race."
ARWR: That's what I'm afraid of, getting caught short, and it get news and I'm left thinking, wth just happened, lol.
Think I'll use your strategy, especially based on the recent move to over-take 15, again. All looks good for more upside.
ARWR: Been playing the up's and down's on this one for awhile; and honestly, I'm getting a little bored with it now. Although, it has been a good one to play with over the past couple weeks.
FSLR: covered the first time just below 67.60, so that was good and I just kept playing it, as it moved w/ the naz for most of time. I even went long this last time and got back out just under 68.20, so far so good. Time to move on, though, but after I get a bite to eat. : D
OT: I made it, finally!
FSLR: ss for a scalp at 68.
OT: Thanks, and Griff too, and sorry that I didn't make it to the board today.
I have a couple of appointments tomorrow but I'll drop in before and afterwards.
4 yrs, WOW! Most people have a "mid-life crisis", about the time I took my "sabbatical", so do I still have that to look forward to, as well? I seriously doubt it.
See Ya Tomorrow,
Flow :)
OT: Thanks MGent, and you're spot-on b/c attitude is everything. The phrase "things can always be worse" got me through a lot of trying times; however, I've stopped saying that, b/c things did get a lot worse. That said, instead of looking back, you must keep moving forward, living for the day, future.
Looking forward to talking w/ you more.
...That said, I couldn't stay away forever, especially with everything going on with the markets, and the world.
See You All Monday,
Flow
OT: Took some time away from active trading, but after the last car wreck and learning to walk (yet again), I gained a new perspective on life, and just how quickly the world as we know it can be turned upside-down. Th
Gapper/Tanker picks. N/P Ico, I was multi-tasking just a wee bit much at the time, so completely my fault. No biggie.
APPL results... (See previous post). The same guy also mentioned that APPL would start having problems, due to more competitors (i.e. GOOG, which again, he is LONG on. fwiw.
Worth mentioning too... Apparently, he is somewhat of a freelance/independent researcher, investor.
Most importantly, he sells his research/DD to other firms and I can only imagine how much they have to pay for it.
I'm outta here, and again, will be hit and miss this week (like that's abnormal, lol).
GOOD LUCK GANG!! :)
Re: YRCWD, griff. Excellent pick, and as for your strategy, which you know that I know how you like to play 'em, lol, IS EQUALLY AS GOOD A STRATEGY. fwiw. :)
I don't know if you were around back in '03 - 05ish and/or on CBSmarketwatch boards, but if you were, you would have to remember a post of mine, regarding the movement of stocks.
It's probably still on one of 3 boards still. Anyway, it reads (a reply to a lizzygirl post), "nothing goes straight up, except my pee-pee in the morning."
Of course the same holds true for the downside, and so long as you don't use all your power to average down, and do your homework of course, including charting (which I know you just love to use, lol), it's hard to get hurt badly, or even at all. Moreover, most of the time, you do very well.
Ahhhh, speaking of doing very well, remember when the bank stocks started crashing and we were posting on the other board, THE MOVES THOSE STOCKS MADE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, and due to the price, the profits were just like lottery winnings. Best of all, IT WAS EZ-MONEY!! :))
Anyway, get ready for round 2, IMO, just this a.m. on CNBC, the same contributor/interviewer with the guy years ago said, "he was so far ahead of the curve on Lehman... I thought he was crazy." To the point, he said, "the fundamentals are even worse now". Fyi, he is Long GOOG and short JPM.
Oh yeah, say it ain't so.... lizzygirl got banned? OMG, she sure pumped F BIGTIME, but if you just bought and held it, you did great from 11, or less, but I choose to trade it instead, and did well too. :)
Tanker STX, Gapper DYN.
Sorry DC, but I definitely had those picks backwards.
Spanks!
Re: House of cards/Day of reckoning...
IMO, soon... very soon.
After the election, and nothing gets any better (probably worse), based on the $$$ free-fall, and the Fed Chair, during a 10 page speech even, not even mentioning the greenback.
ETA IMO, 1 -2 years, probably at the end of one more years, or there-abouts, lol. :)
Later taters!!
