Timing seems to fit with the 3 month probation! Was it a lay off or firing? Anyone else out there confused by our new hours? No evening appts for customers??

Well it's bringing the volume but not the money!
So now we're offering a A/O pkg for free good until the end of January, how is this helping our bottom line???

I'm ok with the groupons/wag jag but perhaps less content or less poses or no free image CD. There's no consistency in pricing as a see other employees offering the smile search CD @ $50 to john smith who booked an appt and is not a VIP. Makes it hard for those who follow the pricing guide. And 20 hours of training new associates is not nearly enough!
I too heard of this mtg but can't imagine the company has enough money to fly DMs to St. Louis. I've also been told there are VIPs touring studios, haven't seen one yet but really wish they'd come visit and talk to employees. I'd hedge a bet that we have ideas on how this company could be more profitable and have employee and customer retention.
I cannot wait and am on the hunt for a new job, I will say that CPI has given us "transferable skills". I've had some amazing interviews and have been offered higher paying positions with commission. Don't sell yourself short, no harm no foul in looking for another job!

Have been waiting for someone to comment on this new strategy. I too wonder how much the photographers are being paid. And that customers can pay same prices as we offer in studio?? And have to come to studio to pick out the pictures?? As a customer I would want to see sample work of the photographer first.
Hmm so I see hours are changing at all sears locations. Anyone miss the old CPI? You know when family came first, employees felt valued, incentives and recognition by corporate (heck they even called the studios) and appointments were plentiful?

Anyone notice new asset tag that came for printer says photos unlimited?? Also assuming since we signed employment letter in feb., our 90 days are almost up??
Throwing them to the wolves after 20 hours isn't enough, no wonder we can't retain employees!
Surprising then that the newest pay stubs and "communicate" still say Canadian images.
Happened to me when I was in a sears, hard when 36hrs is pretty much full time. Left no hours for part timers really. Ask your DM about the lunch closure some had their studios stay open thru lunch; also pretty sure it's not legal to have us leave and come back. Other DMs had managers close for lunch and then work till 4.
Think I'll wait to see a communicate on that.
I have heard none of this don't contact HR nonsense, perhaps she's too busy because they keep "re-structuring". Lorna can be reached by phone or email, while I would ask my DM first, if there's a question only Lorna can answer or you feel you're being given incorrect information then it's your right to ask HR.
Wtf?? Wonder if she was let go or finally had enough of the bullshit. Sorry but she's the best thing this company has going for it!
The company tried this a few years back (on location) only a select few employees were chosen to take the cameras on location. Not sure how well it went over, there were only 2 cameras to go around. But yes customers had to come back to the studio to order their photos. There were different collections to choose from and cost of session depended on length of time and number of people I believe. Employees need to think about their safety going to people's homes unless there's 2, and there needs to be sufficient pay to cover gas, mileage and wear & tear on your own vehicle. We have a number of talented photographers in the field with 10+ years of studio experience; I'm a better photographer than most who "have a great camera" and started their own business, or those who are hired to do school photos. I do photography on the side, but CPI provides me with a guaranteed paycheck that owning your own business does not. So I take offense that by working for Walmart/Sears does not make you a professional!!
The only feature about suites I like is the custom vignettes, sepia overlay and font options for text. Otherwise it's a pain in the ass, portrait & wedding is much better and gives me options for collages, art and just about everything else!

We were told to throw out old deposit slips and use new ones, seems like communication is stellar as always!
I can count on two hands how many staff I've trained who went on to private photography. Three of them have opened their own studios. Guess I'm a good trainer, lol.

Went online this morning...you can still book appts at the studios that closed last week...wtf??

The 25 studios that closed were not offered severance of any kind!
Did not get my letter, said it was unavailable. Not happy to hear of the probation. I'm one of the studios closing, there's been little communication and no clear direction. Kinda ridiculous they've made us pack up everything when some of us have no jobs after tomorrow.
Haven't heard anything more, not much success when you google "photos unlimited" either. Packing up my studio starting today, so very sad.
Which head trainer? I hadn't heard anything about that, or about DMs!! I am one of the 25, it is very hard to be smiling and still shooting until Saturday when I will have to pack up my studio the next week.
I have been told we've been bought, although 25 sears studios are closing. Last shoot day is Saturday and then we have to pack it up and last day is feb 28th.
