I will tell you exactly why. Because when it all comes down to it...
It's all about politics and political figures.

You people truly know how to fantasize but then why not. You've bought into this hook, line and sinker. At this point no factual evidence of any gold or silver. All assumptions. Speculation.
As I stated before, I predict the 'scanning' will go on and on and then perhaps move on to the excavation of fifteen feet of imaginary sand but just can't quite reach the treasure. All this a stall game while Kennedy and Reynolds are trying to figure out what the H... do we do next. Of course this is only my prediction. My opinion only.
right here and go 15 feet below the sand that hasn't been disturbed in over 500 years and you will find gold and wow there it is?? Can't wait.
______________________________________________
Common sense tells one there is nothing there 15 feet below the sand when there is an exposed ballast pile showing along with the amazing worm poop entrustment. These comments are hard to believe, like make it up as you go. Even if there was but six feet of sand, it certainly won't be removed using Reynolds little battery powered aquatic vacuum cleaner.

So I'm to be impressed with you found your facts on Google and I'm to be impressed? Perhaps you might consider going into scholarly works as 'Trade and Navigation between Spain and the West Indies' or the 'Spanish Empire in America' by C.H. Haring, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of History - Yale University. ....And you say lack of education?
So continue with your pipe dream.
Quote: Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortes conquered the Aztecs of Mexico in 1521. But gold and silver were not mined and made into large bars for transport to the Old World until about 1565. Therefore, much of the treasure being transported back to Spain about 1550 was intricately crafted Aztec or Mayan works of art, Wallace and Benilous said.

This is a fallacy. Other than to send examples to the Spanish monarchy, The Catholic church prohibited these objects as produced by heathens, worshippers of false gods. These objects were melted down into bars or cakes of bullion before being shipped out oof Mexico.
Quote: The bottom line is in my opinion no one ever dug deep enough to uncover what 500 years of the sea covered...
____________________________________________
Your opinion is wrong.
When the main hull ballast pile of the 1622 'Niuestra Señora de Atocha, lying in 54 feet of water, the stacks of silver bars and rows of silver coin chests were right on top of the ballast as was the norm. Not the case on this Juno wreck in 80 ft. of water. Why? There is no treasure. (My opinion based upon analytical logic).
I have known no less than three "Professionals" who had spent considerable time having done both magnetometer and ferrous-non-ferrous metal detector surveys of the site. For them - no cannons. No treasure either. Those "Professionals" were Robert Marx, David Foster and Duke Long.
I only made a prediction so lets just wait and see.
At this point in the game I shall make a very unpopular prediction (Just my opinion of course).
Before the prediction a touch of logic which will also not be appreciated.
A supposed treasure galleon in 80 feet of water devoid of any cannons but supposedly loaded with gold and silver. At the 80 ft. depth the cannons would hardly have been recoverable but nevertheless there are none. If let's say the cannons were recoverable then why not the supposed treasure? So the cannons were important but not the treasure?
I predict that the now perfectly performing SeaSeacher will be continuing to scan throughout the season. SFRX has just got to get that done first before even doing but one 'proofing dig' on a gold or silver target. Most odd. So what I'm saying is that perhaps the 'performing perfectly' SeaSearcher is actually not performing, thus buy time to figure out what to do next.

......But no gold or silver.
Quote: I think if you actually could that you should call in and get some of your never ending questions answered.
___________________________________________
I present no 'never ending questions'. I simply asked what are the four or five hundred 'Artifacts' recovered? Yes that is a question that no one seems to want to answer. I have little doubt the representation is, crudely put, trash and trinkets - if any trinkets at all.
And yes, 16th Century Spanish ships bore materials on copper, brass and bronze, particularly bronze cannons of which this shipwreck has none. Non of iron as well. That tells a lot.
Quote: Lead, iron, gold and silver. Iron has been ruled out so it's one of the other three. Do you think the SeaSearcher is programmed to differentiate between lead and the other two? I think rocket scientist Tim Reynolds has that covered.
____________________________________
You failed to mention copper, brass and bronze.
Still no comment regarding explanation if what the four or five hundred 'Artifacts' are.
Regardless of what Reynold's credentials are, I hold serious doubts to the clams. My conclusions are all based on common sense in view of the overall picture.
Record and underline my statement. This was a scuttled ship and bears no treasure. Not one cannon but loaded with treasure so what might the excuse be fir that? Of course just my opinion., What would I know.
Apparently the 'scanning process' hasn't restricted the recovery of 400 or 500 'Artifacts'. Seems this is a evasive issue. I've asked several times, what are these 'Artifacts'? Why no explanation or photos. For me it's really not important as I already believe I know why.
Quote: That might be true, however they do have experienced archaeologist. More than one
They do have a wet lab already set up to take and clean artifacts to identify them.
They already have technology that they designed and tested to dredge the area in a safe and professional manner at its depths.
They want and WILL establish themselves as a leader in archaeologically safe excavation of the site preserving lost history.
____________________________________________________________
Let me tell you this. Texas A&M Institute of Nautical Archaeology cranks out ;marine archaeologists annually and few of them ever find employment. When you cite 'archaeologists' background experience is everything. So who are SFRX contract 'Archaeologists' and what are their credentials??
As to the 'designed and tested dredge', I watched the video of its performance and make comment as follows. A spiffy little toy. I commented on this before. It is nothing new as the same concept was used during the salvage of the 'S.S. Central America' in seven thousand feet of water. I would say that it would be applicable to dredge out exposed sand pockets, cavities, within the wreck site but certainly not for a major excavation approach.
For the record, whether you choose to believe it or not but I have been on working dive teams working with as large as 12 inch diameter. crane supported air-lifts with remote TV camera mounted just aft of the air-lift mouth so crane operator and on-surface operations control could precisely monitor what was going on. This was in + or - 100 feet of water off of Cape Hatteras. I've also worked with 8 inch, 6 inch, and 4 inch air-lifts in deep and shallow water. You understand that with air-lifts the greater the depth the greater the efficiency. With water induction 'venturi' devices, as what Reynolds spiffy little toy is, their efficiency doesn't increase with water depth.
With a properly moored salvage vessel over the wreck site, in 80 feet of water all of the above methods are applicable with the air-lift being the better. So now my question which I had asked before but never had an answer. What exactly are the four or five hundred 'Artifacts' recovered thus far? Any photos posted? So in that process of excavating and producing those 'Artifacts', I find it strange that they have not concentrated on not even one SeaSearcher non-ferrous precious metal targets, and if not so, anymore silver coins recovered at random, being among these hundreds of Artifacts? You buy into this, and justifiably so as you are a stockholder and an obvious believer. My opinions differ based upon experience. I guess time will tell but when?

Quote: While damaged from being on the ocean floor for nearly 500 years, the coin was rescued, carefully conserved, and is now part of the curated Seafarer collection along with over 950 other period artifacts from the JBAS.
_______________________________
"950 period artifacts" sounds impressive but what are they exactly? Chips and pieces of ceramics; pottery shards, iron spikes, etc.? With respect to the coin, it is what it is but not very impressive. I assure you, by personal experience, there was a time when one could dive and metal detect most anyone of the "salvaged" 1733 Spanish shipwrecks in the Florida Keys, and find a coin or two.
As stated previously, with the site totally lacking any cannons and being in 80 ft. of water, an extreme depth for free diving back in Spanish Colonial days, this ship was stripped before being scuttled. (Here again just my opinion) Applying common sense, is one to believe that even if they had been able, they would salvage a minimal of 26 2,500 pound cannons (+ or -) but leave tons of gold and silver. Something I believe most of you just don't want to think about.
Hi to all. I can't believe this is still up. So whats the story. Stone dead but just didn't fall over? What ever happened to 'would I lie to you' Goldberg?

The first sophisticated diver operated magnetometer was designed by Burt Webber utilizing the Geometrics, Inc. G-882 Cesium mag. so, saying this is nothing new.
You are aware that the magnetometer only detects ferro-magnetic targets? Actually, the magnetometer measures the total intensity of the earths magnetic field. Anything of a localized ferro-magnetic source deviates the field and thus detected. So why the big deal for SFRX? I was of the opinion they were solely interested in the SeaSearcher gold and silver targets? You may or may not realize that the diver operated magnetometer can be used as a counter-check, meaning if the SeaSearcher indicated the position for a ferrous target but when applying the magnetometer there is no indication, then obviously the target is indeed non-ferrous. Sorry, but I just can't give these amateurs credit to assume they know that.
I really don't understand all the fluff and puff going on. Simply pin-point and dig one of the SeaSearcher gold or silver targets and prove the point. Rather hard to do if there's no treasure there in the first place. So thus far hundreds of items found (like what items?) but none being gold or silver. Right?
Quote: You can say all kinds of things but hey poop happens. They are working hard everyday and the end result is going to be success. In a short amount of time all of these posts will be mute anyway. Except one person that will save everything I write for years to come. Lol. He is worse than my x wife attorney...lol.
________________________________
I find it all amusing as well as sad. Sad meaning they have not produced any evidence of actual gold or silver as a result of the SeaSearcher scans. Yet excuses are in abundance. First its currents (nothing to do with excavations), and now it's something else. I understand in marine salvage operations things can be complicated even with experienced salvors but not digging a hole on a treasure target (proofing), and proving to stockholders its the real deal - come on.
A long time ago, multiple times, I made the prediction that what they had at Melbourne was not a wreck site but flotsam in spite of the fact that Kennedy stated 'We're on the wreck'. Who was right? In this case, as I've also said before, the Juno wreck is a scuttled ship. Stripped of all cannons and treasure before it then sank. It will not be unusual to find numerous 'trash and trinket' items. One thing is alway certain when on a Spanish shipwreck (ALWAYS), there are many, many Spanish 'olive jars' both intact and broken shards, pending conditions. How many have been seen on this Juno wreck? Of course this is only my opinion but what would I know?
Sea state conditions remain favorable. Should be no problem 'proofing' some treasure.

Quote: Your reasoning would be wrong Raider. It's just about the tech being able to perform at Juno imo and then they dig.
___________________________________
...And are you saying they are going to perform salvage operations from a 27 foot sport boat? Please correct me if I'm wrong on this assumption.
Furthermore, if they have already established position of gold and silver targets, why wouldn't they be proofing them thus proving the tec. works and the site actually does have treasure?
Quote: When I'm not sure but they definitely haven't started yet. I'm hoping that they will use Facebook again to inform us as to the timeline for Juno. I'm just guessing but there has to be disgruntled shareholders calling in each week as this drags on. I'm pretty sure there are shareholders that have sold shares thinking that they already began digging at Juno and found nothing. That just is not the case. It should help to let investors know what's going on.

Perhaps I can provide one reason of justification as to why no action. By now they must have come to the realization that a salvage operation (excavation process) cannot be performed in 80 feet of water off of a 28 ft. (?) sport boat platform. I would have to assume they've prepared to work off of a appropriate vessel for the job.
These people have no experience at all in the salvage business. Never found or worked a Spanish Colonial period shipwreck, yet alone in 80 feet of water.
Quote: Again I agree with you Raider. I'd say that our common sense comes from viewing part of the picture and management sees it all.
____________________________________________________
I know there's where we differ. Yes, I believe management sees it all and they don't like what they see. Of course that's only my opinion.
Quote: I think the small piece of the site that was scanned and showed treasure targets was not the ballast pile area. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

So I believe common sense would be to simply excavate those targets.
Sea conditions continue to remain favorable. Not flat calm but favorable. I guess what I just don't understand is that allegedly SeaSearcher has already scanned the ballast pile or at least a portion of same which produced assumed gold and silver readings. At least to the extent of that having been achieved, the 'currents' didn't hinder that. Now to follow through with proofing excavations should not be an extraordinary feat. In my opinion, something just doesn't seem right here.

Quote: Any ideas as to why Judd Laird wanted that Juno permit so badly?
__________________________________
No but Laird knew as much about Spanish shipwrecks and treasure as Kennedy does. Very little. When someone of the caliber of Robert Marx walks away from a site such as Juno, it makes one wonder.
Quote: Raider a question for you since you know more about Juno than others here. Do you know if previous searchers actually located the large ballast pile? Or what all did they locate I guess is what I'm curious about.
________________________________________
It is my understanding that Bob Marx and David Foster (the Judd Laird period) dove the ballast pile numerous times. I was not aware until recently that marine archaeologist Duncan Mathewson (Mel Fisher's archaeologist) had also examined the site years ago.
Well as anyone can see, the marine forecast is good just as it has been for numerous days past. So naturally the question is 'where's the treasure? Knowing that neither Kennedy or Reynolds have any salvage experience, I wonder who (with experience) is running the show in + - 80 feet of water? When's show time?
