I wrote this 5 minutes after I woke up. I might rewrite it later.
A Software Engineer's Opinion on Mimvi
Intro
Mimvi's design and potential comes from search techniques that were derived from those used to find music and other media. Basicly, Kasian Franks got into legal issues with SeeqPod (a media search engine) and used his knowledge from that to create Mimvi.
SeeqPod worked and did its job really well, too well, which caused the legal issues. So the question then becomes, does this great search potential transfer over to app searching?
Answer: yes and no
With Media searching, knowing the type of media and what people might be interested in is a key component not only in finding relevant searches but also giving suggestions on potential new interests. So we use this as a base with Mimvi.
Search Types
From my view of getting apps, people search for apps when they: -Know the company and search to see if they have an app
-Get an app suggestion from someone and search to download it
-Viewing those that popular.
-Are interested in a field and do a general search to see what is available (in most cases games)
The first two searches you don't even need a search engine for cause you could just go to the company's website and probably find a link. However, people will often just go to a search engine cause it is a habit, seen as easier, and people often think they don't know the right name for the company or what to call the app. (Mimvi offers nothing special in these categories)
The third search is seen by marketers as the place to be. Now this is were most app search engines are focused on were you have categories and subcategories with each cat/subcat has a top tier. (top tier for games, top tier for games/free, top tier for games/free/puzzle) This type of business model is very attractive to businesses cause then they can justify their results of their investment in an app on if they made the top tier of any category; even if it is a very specific sub/sub/sub/sub/etc. category. (Businessman: "We have a great app, we are one of the top apps in soybean farming information")
The fourth search is were Mimvi falls in and excels. The "I'm not really sure what I'm looking for but know what I'm in the mood for or have a general idea." search. This coincides with a media search, in which a person would go "I'm in the mood for this artist or this genre" and follow that path to new discovery.
The Break Down
So to break it down it comes down to search techniques and business model which can be simplified as a Google vs Youtube. (I know google owns youtube)
As a business with an app do you want to be on the first page of the result, or recognized by being networked through suggestions.
This is one of the big questions Mimvi investors should understand. They should also understand that in order to give these type of results a feel for the browser must be established and where Mimvi's Key Problem resides.
Mimvi lacks social resources. In order for Mimvi to optimize its search results and suggestion techniques it needs a large database of user information. Currently they use the info provided if you log into Facebook while you search. Which is ok, but the info it provides goes more toward categorizing people rather than search history, and clashes with its core method.
Conclusion
Mimvi works and has potential; however, I feel that this company has a bad case of square block into circle hole syndrome and seem to be shifting to the third type of search business model with "use us to get to the top tier of our search engine". I will say that they are improving with adding new methods of gather browser detail, transitioning from app result to app result suggestion, and providing new methods of using their search engine; but it almost seems painfully slow.
Final Result (20% Sell) A Risky Bet
The reason I am saying this is because this is a little under a moderate risky bet. Yes Mimvi has potential and can take off; however, currently they do not show any significant momentum and are currently just kicking the can down the road in progress with no revenue. And as time goes by so does the chance of someone else discovery an even greater technique in searching for apps in the fourth type of search.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Arts and Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas and am currently working on getting my master's in software engineering. So those are my credentials.
I'm sorry; but I think I'm a hundred percent right on this. even at .10 a share that's $212,000 as a gift. Nobody would give that much away as a "gift". The most likely scenario is giving it to someone knowing that the person is just going to give it right back in a fake "deal".
And I'm sorry the numbers line up too perfectly for it to be a coincidence.
Ya, those questions are deleted if they aren't fluff. I've asked 20 questions all deleted. In fact, if I repeatedly try to get my question answered they shut down the comment option for that blog post. They don't wanna hear anything on their blog's comment section except for people who just wanna suck their "stock"
Mimvi Signs First Six-figure Deal (With itself).
I just realized where those shares went. Its the same practice shown on "American Dad" in that Dry Cleaner episode. Franks Kasian basically gave those shares to a "friend" who sold and spent the money on the company.
A illusion to other investors saying look people are signing with us, you should too.
A con-game if you will. "Find the Queen" with the guy who goes before you always "mysteriously winning".
So Investor beware; just walk away from the cardboard box, you'll never win. Mimvi slid the queen up their sleeve.
Please, if this was positive news they would have mentioned it in the CC. This was a dump that tried to get swept by, by distracting us with a poorly done and in panic CC. A literal pump and dump by Mimvi
Ok, so 2.12m shares is a gift? I guess that makes sense. If I was going to give a friend dirt, I would have to give them a lot of dirt for it to be considered a gift..... basically I'm saying Mimvi's shares are as worthless as dirt.
Not again, the stock always plummets after these things.

Can someone clarify end of year and shorters for me? Someone said that alot of shorters buy back on last trading day of the year. Is this true?
I have to question when and why did this happen? If this was done as a reporting of the news on the NASDAQ great, but if Mimvi paid for it to be shown on the JumboTron......ehhh how much did that cost them?
Pulling a George Costanza, huh? Well I shall stay with you my captain and go down with the ship.
But ya, I believe the possibility of it going back to .40s and higher is greater than the possibility of it never going that high again.
I actually like the Androids web search; although it always can be improved.
But ya the PlayStore is crap. I usually search the web by a browser for apps rather than on my phone. I invested in Mimvi cause I felt, "Ya I know of that problem, and you offer a solution: Then sign me up."
The question now is Mimvi's solution profitable? Cause it is possible that a good solution can make no profit; just like how a bad solution can make lots of profit. Its all in marketing.
Ya, but if he posts provably false information; then those are grounds for post removals.
What is false or misleading?
Also Goldman Sachs, but I don't know if you wanna count that.
Microsoft
Same, though I'm holding till March 2013, If we aren't above a dollar by then I will probably sell.
End of month + not getting the PR we were expecting could really be bad for us Wednesday. But I still feel we will get to $1.20 by next Quarter at least.
I think that if the market is still closed on Wednesday we will be fine; but if the market reopens on Wednesday there will be mass selling just because its the end of the month.
I don't think we are going to move until spring quarter.
Where is the date on when that was published?
"MIMV heads higher on Feds Google suit. "
"Head higher" do you mean that its value is going higher or there is a higher chance of the fed going after MIMV too?
And we love you for it.
"Amendment to the Company’s 2010 Stock Plan. On October 5, 2012, the Board of Directors of the Company approved an amendment to the Company’s 2010 Stock Plan (the “Plan”) to increase the number of shares of the Company’s common stock reserved for issuance thereunder from 10,000,000 to 15,000,000. "
Does this mean dilution?
sorry I have a rule of never trusting people with a digit at the end of their username.
If you where to count the apps i downloaded but deleted the next day i would be well within the hundreds on downloaded apps
I don't know, I buy maybe a dozen download more than two dozen on games. I use playstore and usually just see what is top rated or download. I think my dad has like 50 apps on his phone. My sister has maybe 30 on her iphone and my brother maybe has a dozen too. My mom doesn't have any (she still uses a flipphone)
this seems like an old article? Got a source link?
So do you think this is a case of someone secretly buying or the company is diluting.
buyout?
I honest don't know but if a buyout happens would you have to exercise your option before it right?
I honestly, don't know what this means? Can someone please explain it to me?

MIMVI green again
end of day short squeeze?
Do you file an 8k for this type of news?
News gives insight into part of Microsoft contribution.
Everyone is holding of course shorts are going to bring it down easily.
So I'm never selling fyi.
I'm riding free shares right now; so up/down doesn't matter to me. These are like lottery tickets hopeing for a buyout or something.
