this thing cant seem to make up its mind. I guess it's good that's it has settled into the $5 range. Probably need some PR for the next move.
Andy
this thing is spiraling...down...
nice article. thanks for posting.
Andy
where will AAPL be a year from now????
Andy
The Windows 8.1 update probably means some more bad news for Synacor. The start page on my Toshiba laptop got sniped from Synacor to Bing with a windows update. It would be nice if they had some protection from that.
Looking to get back in today. I'll be looking for some at $3.50 range, and adding if it goes down to the $3.30s.
best of luck to all,
Andy
Synacor Inc.’s shareholders have been on a wild ride...
here is the rest of the article:

good luck to all,
Andy
so, are we waiting for a dip now?
they are paying miillions? in cash & stock?
what is the float?
they are still a solid company
what did they pay for this promo? anyone know?
Andy's rant about the TMC award...
Recently, TMC awarded Synacor an "innovation award" for their "cloud base" social login ID management services across multiple platforms. This award was further touted by PRWeb, a public relations for hire company.
Follow the money...
Apparently, Synacor pays big $$$ to TMC for the priveledge of avertising and setting up booths at their major trade shows, which TMC produces and promotes.
Ofcourse, it would behoove TMC greatly to tout their supporters and give awards to those who "are most deserving".
It is however, most surprisiong that a very inept Investor Relations at Synacor, would actually hire PRWeb to cover, publicize, and promote this "award".
The fact is, this "innovation" is now going on a year old, and provides a percentage of the $5MIL in income that Synacor generates from their "TV Everywhere" solutions.
The single biggest positive that can be gleaned from all this, is the fact that Synacor appears to be "self promoting" their own company...for the first time, ever.
All my opinion.
good luck to all,
Andy
PC viewership continues to decline, which is why revenues continue to decline. Even Synacor management admitted to the fact they did not know how they were going to monetize mobile impressions.
I'm not sure how the fee structure is setup for mobile, but I know the carriers have their hands in deep. It would be interesting to see the impression breakdown for PC -vs- mobile, the impressions for each, and the overall income for each.
Now that I think about it, this may actually be a better way of projecting the bottom for Synacor. Thanks for the idea.
I'm wondering if compete.com might be helpful. I have had zero success going through IR at Synacor. Got any ideas?
I still think TV Everywhere is a dead end for Synacor, with one exception. Once there is some momentum (and some revenue) behind this thing, I expect the Cisco/Adobe system to become the defacto standard. Synacor can pick up the scraps until then. The one caveat for Synacor is a possible liscensing deal and/or buyout by Microsoft trying to compete.
Comcast is developing their own platform, and Apple will also come out with their own version of TV Everywhere.
So, in the medium term, there may be room for Synacor. But they really need to innovate for the long run.
All my opinion,
Andy
You can easily see the problem with revenue from impressions. It appears to be a sinking ship. It would be nice to see Y/o/Y gains. It is depressing to see a 35% increase in impressions, resulting in a 5% decrease in revenue. Increasing competition?
If Synacor actually delivers on $38MIL in revenue, they will be back to the revenue whisper at IPO, and the PPS will be back to $6 range. The problem is, that they never actually lived up to those IPO expectations. Therefore, it is no longer good enough to forcast to $38MIL, they will need to deliver.
A 5% decrease in revenue, on top of a 5% dilution in stock, is not the impetus we want at this time.
all my opinion,
Andy
There is one number that needs to change...And that is the income from impressions. This number has continued to decline. It must bottom out and turn back up, before the PPS can really turn up.
I think that Synacor made a huge mistake when they did not get binding agreements on the start pages...especially for Lenovo, as everyone could see that disiaster coming.
The upgrade to Windows, that changed the start page from Synacor's page to Microsoft's Bing, was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. It seems like everyone except Synacor saw it coming.
I hope they have learned a valuable lesson. And I'm glad it looks like Synacor is going to survive.
Synacor needs a new niche. Something innovative. You will not see big growth on a me-too company. They don't have anything truly innovative. Without exclusivity, they are held back by their competition.
Synacor needs to get quarterly revenue in the 38MIL range to overcome the $6 PPS range.
all my opinion.
good luck to all,
Andy
just wondering...was there any mention about how many retailers responded to the survey, either a number or percentage?
curious,
Andy
Noone is going to buy a "brand new" electronic device that's been in use in every cab in the USA for the last 20 years.
Even better, they won't want to install it on a motorcycle, and operate it during rainy season, where it will be destroyed.
The stock has dropped how much in the last 3 months? Let's see, it was $0.32 in January...and now it's at $0.04...what is that? about a 90% drop?
FARE has nothing new, and there is no market...
just my opinion,
Andy
I got in at $0.96 and I like to ask a lot of questions.
I especially like to hear opposing opinions, because it makes me a little nervous and keeps me from get fat & happy.
I wish I got in at $0.32 but hey, I'm happy with my position.
just my opinion,
Andy
this thing spiralled down pretty quickly, I'm thinking its down good and hard for a reason. Maybe a glimmer of hope now, who knows?
I like long shots. Not for their intrinsic value, but I'm a sucker for the underdog.
Count me in, I'm long.
just my opinion,
Andy
holy price, batman!
Is this stock a leading or lagging indicator for the semiconductor market? I'm assuming that semiconductor manufacturers will tool up once their at or near capacity, and they need to expand their manufacturing capability.
just my opinion,
Andy
anybody trading this stock...last time I owned this stock it was at $24, but that was like 7 or 8 years ago.
At that time, they were a $2B company, and the crook (I mean CEO) who was running (I mean ripping off) the company was going to increase revenue to $5B. I lost interest after selling the stock, and I never found out if he was able to achieve $5B.
just my opinion,
Andy
I used to own stock in this company like 20 years ago...I was wondering how they are doint nowadays...
any predictions on Q1 revenue?
Andy
I agree with you about the investor relations of Synacor. Never before have I seen such incompetence...or non-existence.
I guess if you don't know what you are doing, it is still better to do nothing at all.
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. -- Mark Twain
just my wise a$$ opinion,
Andy
the #1 beverage at whole foods...was that nationwide sales? I'm thinking they need to move beyond whole foods to make the next move up.
I like this company, but I'm not liking the long term trend.
just my opinion,
Andy
I have no clue, myself. I was just wondering why there were two different days being reported.
what does your broker list for the earnings report date?
Andy
Paul,
what are your predictions on Q1 revenue?
and what about forward looking revenue?
next QTR? next year?
just wondering,
Andy
Is this stock a pump and dump?
just wondering,
Andy
Have these guys ever sold anything? can you buy one?
just wondering...
Andy
good luck. I hope you are right.
I remember when they said the exact same thing about DEC.
I'm not saying it is going to happen to AAPL, I'm saying it can happen to the best companies, and does happen to the best companies, and when people say it can't go lower, those are the ones holding the bag.
just my opinion,
Andy
I've heard two different dates for earnings...
the first, is 25-Apr-13, as reported by Fidelity.
but this is "not confirmed" as stated on Fidelity's website.
And the other is...
"Synacor to Discuss First Quarter 2013 Results on May 7, 2013 Via Webcast"
which is reported on investor.synacor.com
and so I was wondering why you thought the results are being accelerated? it seems to me that they are two weeks behind...
just wondering,
Andy
here's some news...reverse split, 1 for 1 million.
you won't be able to tell if a large short position is being opened by looking at L2.
Andy
what does that mean?...
...that ZNGA and SYNC both have confidential treatment orders?
just wondering,
Andy
looks like someone big is shorting...
Here is the latest insider trading...
Both FORM 4's were buys:
Montgomery - purchased 40,000 @ $3.02
Jordan Levy - purchased 33,000 @ $2.986
thought you might like to know,
Andy
Starting to look like a good time to buy. Did anyone notice the insider trading?
Andy
All you have provided is the short volume. If 50% of the shorts are openining a position and 50% are closing a position, then it is a wash. You need more information than you have provided.
just my opinion,
Andy
