dennis/So, Dennis, tell me how you really feel
Believe me, kiddo, you don't want to know how I'm really feeling this week, and even that's an improvement over last.
Well, at least last week is better than this week. Here's hoping that next week will be even better ;)
Something very similar has happened to me recently on a local messageboard (by the web administrators themselves!) and I'm still seriously considering pursuing legal action for harassing communications.
I think that is reprehensible. I would definitely consider some type of action. The laws are so new with respect to the Internet, who knows, though. If someone posted personal inforamtion about me, I don't know what I'd do.
I'll tell you one thing that I did. When I found that umedia does have friends at ABC, I went to my go.com account and changed my profile. Naively, I put my real name to start with - I just changed it to Mary HadaLittleLamb. It was funny to see a message to the "HadaLittleLamb" family. Anyway, I hope that I am not too late and that they can't go back. I little paranoid? Perhaps, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
dennis/OH GOOD GOD, WOMAN, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????
So, Dennis, tell me how you really feel. <g>
I like Bez, Berg, WhatMe(fillintheblank) and Rogue. That is who I was talking about. I really would like to give them this link, but do wander if it would spread to the others. When they first appear someone, they love to make an entrance.
Actually, they were not the ones who caused the board to be shut down. Yes, they do instigate, but it was umedia and mom fighting that did it in.
I just found out today that PurplePenguin posted on umedia's site and that ass posted private info on PP.
The PI topic board did start out well today, but the board monitors came and started deleting posts with no cause. I do think that umedia has friends at ABC and they are doing his nasty work. What an abuse of power.
pat/Re: Indy - Fuzzy Math
These would lower the costs to HMOs, who could pass on their savings to patients in benefits.
You must have a good HMO with a statement like that because they must pay for the good drugs you're taking.
You probably did not see the thread on Friday afternoon over at PIMB. I checked the Fortune 100 and 7 insurance companies were on it. These guys are making money hand over fist. A $40 settlement on a lawsuit is peanuts to them.
Besides, that is not the point. The point is that they make it difficult to approve services that are covered in your benefit plan. I had given some examples on Friday. I used to work at a hospital that performed Bone Marrow Transplants. They have been doing them for years, with great success, but many insurance companies still considered them "experimental" in an effort to deny the services. A woman had to fight to get her insurance to pay for one for her breast cancer. She fought for nearly a year and won, but at her expense. She died shortly after the procedure. I don't know if she would have lived if she had gotten it sooner, but I would have given her better odds.
That is what angers me about HMO's. I worked in hospitals for 20 years - negotiating contracts was my job for the last 3 years I was there - believe me they want to pay the hospital nothing.
I have no sympathy for HMO's - they are heartless *******s who will do anything for the almighty buck.
indy/Sassy: The PIMB is gone.
Actually, I am leaning to giving members of the RRG the address. There are a few of them who do some nice posting, when they aren't in their gang mode. What do the others think?
I have noticed increase activity here - I think it was your comment earlier in the week that this board might be deleted. Scare tactic works every time !!!
indy/Sassy-Re: Fuzzy Math
Daschle did a nice job getting the health bill through. Think Bush has the balls to veto it? Given that his approval numbers are sagging I doubt it.
I don't think he will veto it. Even though there aren't enough votes to override it, he needs to do something to let people know he is just not for the big companies (or the perception of his love for big business). Besides, he knows that Cheney may need the PBR with all of his medical problems <g>
What do you think he will do about funding for stem cell research? He is caught between the proverbial rock and hard place here. He stated in his campaign that he was against it, but the polls show people are in favor of it, including the almighty Catholic vote that he is already courting for 2004.
If he's moping around licking his wounds this evening wait till his upcomming Energy Bill get's kicked around.[/]
I almost feel sorry for Georgie Porgie. Clinton had so much more fun when someone else was doing the licking. <VEG>
The PIMB is gone
Well, the Board (or Bored) Monitors finally had enough and shut the board down today. I really have no idea what happened. I was on it today and the messages were pretty benign. This afternnoon the monitors started deleting messages faster than one could post them and now it is gone. I read at the GMA board that someone thought someone posted someone's real name and address. There are plenty of idiots in the world, aren't there?
indy/Re-Fuzzy Math? Uh Uh, Reality.
Now, now, dearie. Don't you know that this is not true and just one more indication of how liberal the media is? <G>
I love it when I'm right, but unfortunately, this may cost us dearly.
indy/Re: Conservative, misnomer or oxymoron?
Well it appears we may have to turn out the lights on this board soon. Will the final poster please hit the switch?
Hey, you bailing out on us completely? Better not.
I'm here as long as there is someone to post to. It may not be as quick or frequent as before, but you'll still hear from me.
indy/Dereleviate-Re: Back at the msn.
Fortunately, "soul mate", listened to me and she hasn't made a ton on her 401k but she hasn't taken the ass kicking I have in the last 16 months
Well, maybe I should have listened to you, because my 401(k) is currently in the toilet. But, I figure it is too late to move my money around now - what good would it do? Besides, even if I retire at 60, I still have 15 years, so I am betting that it will rebound by then, right? (Please tell me I am right.)
Oh well maybe something will pop and I can raise a little cash. I know one thing I'm certainly not very well suited for this real job, B.S.
Are you still managing the properties? Does that me you are a slum lord? <G>
BTW, if something "pops" up, you are bound to raise a little cash <VEG> Won't have any money troubles, but Sheriff Joe may be after you !!!!
indy/Weach- Re: Join us over there.
Besides I don't mind talking to myself.
LOL. You don't need to worry about that - this is the first board I come to after I check my e-mail (unless you decide to join us as PI Alternative) - I'll always listen.
Has anyone heard from Think?
I have asked that question several times, with no response. Maybe he did get paranoid about the "Thought Police" and comments about Free Speech and left the Internet.
I do worry when I don't hear from people. I don't believe that anyone has a way to contact him.
indy/Re: Sassy-Aids Education In Africa.
Thanks for the article, although I would say that many would not read it once they discovered the author. Good info.
Darlin' - I need you over there. I need some reinforcements with a voice of reason. Imagine, neuro calling me on a racist remark (maybe not PC, but not racist) when the others are talking about "thinning the herds". Pay a visit - I dare them to delete you. <g>
indy/Re Mik. This goes with.
Penile Cheney has had with big oil people. He's had more private meetings in the, "Dingy Brown House", with big oil people than Hillary has had periods.
LOL. I'll have to remember that analogy.
At least when Clinton was in, there were only a few come stains on the carpets in the oval office, now it has diarrhea dripping from the dome.
I would also say that oil stains in the carpet would be harder to remove than those Clinton left.
Indy/Re: Tower, Meme, Sassy.
I don't see how people with jobs have time to have lives. Anyway I'll try and do better.
I know what you mean - don't you hate it when work gets in the way of our socializing?
Don't worry - I have been bad myself lately. The company that I work for has taken off. Not that we weren't busy for the first 3 years, but now I fear I have to clone myself we are so busy (and some of you have trouble with me let alone clones of me <g>) Whenever I am on the road, I do look here to see what is new, but usually am so tired, I really don't respond to much. Unfortunately, my social life has taken a back seat to my professional life - and probably will continue to do so for the next few months. So, I guess that's "how it's hangin'"
What about you? Still soul searching? I hope that you have found what you are looking for, my friend.
spalz/Re: Sassy - Rebate
The money that the government overcharged you last term is now being refunded to you.
Uh - ah !! Trying to fool me, eh spalz??? It was never an "overcharge" by the government. How can it be when we are still very much in debt???
But I realize that is another discussion - one that has been beaten to death.
I am still against the tax cut. I understand that Bush is upse that survey's show that most of the people plan on saving the money as opposed to spending it. I plan on banking it because in a few years they will ask for it back when they realize that they gave away the store.
dennis/McVeigh. Gone, but soon forgotten
I agree with everything that you said, and, for the most part would say that the death penalty is wrong. But in my heart of hearts, I would want revenge if a loved one died. I know I am supposed to be more civilized then that, but that's how I feel.
I wish I could feel something different, but cannot.
spalz/Re: Sassy - Rebate
I see now - it basically means that I am getting a portion of my income tax refund now, as opposed to next year. Right?
dick/Re: McVeigh. Gone, but not forgotten
For as liberal as I am, I believe in the death penalty. I see it more as revenge, then justice. I know that is not the way to think of it, but I would want revenge if a loved one of mine died.
However, with McVeigh - I see something different. I think that he should have been in a prison for the rest of his sorry assed life, with the rest of the unsavory characters where he would get beaten and take it up the ass on a nightly basis - several times. You see, the butt-fukking would be his "collerateral damage".
Guess I'm not a good sentencing judge, either.
Re: Sassy- Indy- Hiatus.
Glad to see you are back - how was the hiatus - refreshing, I hope.
Stop by any time - a few people have been asking for you. Your approach to material is always incitful and most of the time amusing - we need more of that in the world.
Just for one night I would love to get you and Dennis in a room - for the intelligent conversation, of course !!!!
Dennis/WHY IT'S NOT A REBATE...
Thanks for the reference.
spalz/Re: Sassy - Rebate
That is not true according to all of the sources I have seen.
"Q. How quickly will the tax cut provide rebates to taxpayers?
A. The Treasury Department will begin sending out refund checks of between $300 and $600 beginning July 20. "
But that only explains when I am getting my check, and for how much. It does not explain that it is a credit towards next year's taxes.
spalz/Re: Mikkj/REBATE - Read the post please.
The LIE is that he said EVERYONE would be getting a rebate, and they aren't.
I was shocked when I heard over the weekend that if you got some of the earned tax credits, like the education or child care credit, you would not receive a rebate. But that is not what bothers me - this is.
In the same report, I heard that this is not really a tax refund, but more of a tax credit - towards the 2002 taxes. The law passed was not for this year, and does not take effect until next year. The check is a credit towards next year taxes. Now, this was a local report, so I am not certain that it is 100% accurate. If it is, this is one of the biggest scams to hit the US in a long time.
Any verification from anyone?
Indy/Re: Cyber, "Hi 8 US."
Jeeze, I don't know why, but New Years always comes in June for me.
Maybe it is because you guys in Phoenix go into hibernation in the summer because it is too damn hot outside? In January, you are out playing golf !!
Anyway, hope everything is fine. Don't forget to read your private message upon your return to find out where we might be !!
spalz/Re: Oh, suddenly prolific Spall!
Yep, I finished with finals. Unfortunately, I got straight A's for the first time
Well congrats, mr. smarty pants !!!!
Seriously, that is quite an accomplishment - unless all of your classes were basket-weaving !! <g> You should be very proud of yourself. Don't overthink it and worry about next term already.
Now, if you are so smart, why can't you see the liberal way .... <VBG>
mikkj/The Righteous, The Moral, The Hypocrites, The Idiots.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like OVER half of the news accounts of teens going on rampages, getting pregnant, child molestation cases, etc., seem to always involve a christian, or the kids of christian parents. It's probably because the ten commandments weren't posted in their school, or something.
I think that every teenager goes through some type of rebellion - it just appears magnified to the "moral right". However, I do think that you don't have to be Christian to have screwed up in raising your child - all types of people can be a poor parent.
I have had conversations with friends about this and would like to bring it up for discussion here. I think that, in general, our generation has done a poor job of raising their children. Parents want to be friends with their kids, and not parents. We give our kids too much to the point that they expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. When we don't give them something, they rebel. Comments?
Indy/Class Warfare. Reality, or subjective, subsistance?
Good article - thanks.
I was beginning to wonder where you have been. Have you seen WEAC's note to you?
meme/Re: 8th - Lindsey Brown, Heck What about a Pencil?
I say we mandate the cutting off of hands, as well!!
Okay, then we shall also mandate the cutting off of legs, as well!!
Kind of reminds you of a scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, doesn't it?
"Come back, I'll bite you, I will". LOL
DickMN/Meme
Hey, you two. If you can't tell the whole class what you have to say, then don't talk at all !!! <g>
pat/Re: Lindsay Brown controversy
The best one is to remove the federal government from the school system and privatize all schools. Idiots such as those who implemented this zero tolerance nonsense would be quickly weeded out and looking for new jobs.
Catholic schools (and probably most other private schools) also have zero tolerance rules. It would not have been any different in a private school in this case.
DickMN/"A case of political correctness run amok."
First off, meme is right - we talk about everything and anything here, so thanks for bringing this to my attention
What a piece of dung. I am getting real tired of zero-tolerance. I loved the quote from the police officer who said "We had no choice". Isn't that sad when they don't.
I hope that now this made the news, that they will allow her to graduate with her class and the charges will be dropped.
To me, though, there is a bigger question. If the knife was under the seat of the car, how did school security know about it. Do they search these kids cars???
neuro/RE: WEAC, Neuro -
Odd, I usually don't have any trouble with it. If Wintermute_Neuromancer@Altavista.com doesn't work try sending it to neuromancer@go.com, Wintermute_v1@yahoo.com, or Neuromancer_v1@yahoo.com.
How many e-mail accounts do you have, anyway?? <G>
Meme-
Cute, especially since I am a Pittsburgh Penguin fan, but any reason why you posted that?
BTW, did you get my private message - did you use your Secret Squirrel decoder ring? <G>
meme/Oh, suddenly prolific Spall!
I take it finals are over, eh? <G>
You took the words right out of my mouth - I was just about ready to type a comment and saw yours.
Spalz, hope you made it through with flying colors !!!! What are you going to be doing this summer?
dennis/Good-bye for a while...
That doesn't mean that you won't even post at night, does it??
Re: Neuro - Meme - Speedo's
All right, all right, all right, already. You don't have to beat me over the head with it.
OK, I know that I have not been around much this week, but whose head are we talking about ? <g>
Daily Affirmations...by DennisKy
Funny stuff, Dennis. I can relate to many of them.
OK - is this really going to be a daily thing? Don't lie or disappoint us !!!
dpb/The Value of Washington !!!
God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I'm putting next to them in Washington, DC."
LOL. That God is quite a character, isn't s/he???
meme/Re: He Did Meme.
Well, now's as good as time as any to test the filters! What a filthy little scumbag mother****er! Wow, I'm not sure if I shocked myself, or I feel better now. LOL
Well, I guess some of the filters still work - you can't say fuk. LOL.
Do you think my post about him being a wussie might have set him off? Did either of you see it?
I have not been on line many times when he was, but when he was, I tried to stay away from him. He scared me from the start with his women-bashing. Only what I did not know what that he really does bash women - what a shithead. (OK, now my turn to test the filters.)
8th/Sassy, what was your reply?
Nothing really exciting - just a kind of "you go, girl" speech. I had him pegged for a while - not the woman beating part, but I am not surprised to hear about it.
I also said that I love your way with words.
Now that I am thinking - you and Indy should take your show on the road - I guarantee a sell out !!! LOL.
What the hell just happened?
I could not seem to post my response and ended up posting it three times.
I guess that it will remain there indefinitely since both Think and Spall are MIA.
BTW - where have they been? Is Spall still mad at all of us, or is he done school for the summer and working somewhere?
8th/Sassy, When I go Everbody Goes!!
So you never saw my reply then, did you?
I did not see the threads from last night, only your response to him this morning (between 8-9 Eastern time). I just assumed that he was on the rampage last night and, in addition to your comment, along with the others, I put 2 and 2 together and it added up that he beat the woman.
I have argued with him before, but normally stay away because he is so hateful of women.
Well, I feel much better now that I got that out of my system. Feel free to send me a bill for venting on you!
Anytime - no fee. As long as you will recriprocate at some point in time.
