706 does not have new engines
changing a nose landing gear and catching up with due
maintenance checks is costly and far from minor.
760 and 761 have been converted to cargo several months ago
kalitta will ground their own 747-200s in a couple of months,it has its cargo conversions done by a company in Israel.
To be profitable it would have to be converted to an all cargo acft.Way to expensive for such an old 747.
upgrades to nav systems never happened.nose gear was never changed
706 is parked with the rest of the spare parts junkers
I see 706 every day and it is completely intact.
706 is parked in maintenance area, waiting for hangar space.
engines are not being removed.
706 is still waiting for hangar space.
706 is parked in maintenance area, not storage.
Baltia recently hired a Russian speaking mechanic
away from Kalitta.
Saw 706 in hangar 7 yesterday.Doors being worked on.
Phase 111,great news for the faithful.I wonder when they'll
start looking for a second acft.
I don't know flight details.
706 went into the hangar a week ago, for two days, to be weighted.
It's out of the hangar now.Hoping for flight in 2 or 3 days.Test
flight and trip to YIP may be combined.
Not caught or threatened.Steady progress on 706.It should
be ready very soon.
Parts are still coming in.
706 had successful high power engine runs this weekend.
No problems.
You've hit the nail on the head Lt.
Nothing much to report.Parts are coming in,work continues.
Should'nt be long now.
"C" check completion date of 7/7/14 won't be met. There are
parts on order that have not been received yet. This is not a
big problem. The delay shouldn't be a long one.
I'm still in.Amen on the cashola.
706 had idle power engine runs yesterday, without problems.
High power runs should be made in the next few days.Target
date for "C"check completion is 7/7/14.
Engines have appeared. Two of them are being mounted today.
They can mount engines in or out of the hangar.
T.E flaps are on,engines are not.Seats are in but, they're the
same old ones.706 is out of the hangar but, work is going ahead
normally.
Engines are still in shop.Trailing edge flaps were being
installed today.
A "C" or "D" is completed with test flights,so engines are a
primary consideration.
I dont buy June 12 completion.I still think it will be in July.
The engines are still in the shop.
It's too early for engine installation.
My observation,my guess.
the seats have been sitting on the hangar floor, next to the
acft, ever since they were taken out.
The old seats are out ,but I dont'see new ones anywhere.
Work is proceeding,my guess is ,it'll be done sometime
in July.
engines are the same old ones.I don't think the interiors
will be upgraded here.
there are 4 engines, with Baltia paperwork attached,in the
same hangar as 706.
I work there.I see 706 every day.
706 was towed into the hangar this morning.
706 was towed back to the parking area yesterday, however the pylons are on and that's a big piece of work.
