New article based on Elite Solar acquisition PR:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/solar3d-finalizes-elite-solar-deal-173559932.html
Corrected - SLTD submitted the original International patent and then only elected to pursue country-specific patents for India, United States, China, and Singapore.

Greetings SG! GLTA - should be a very interesting week ahead!
Agreed - they weren't even pursuing a European patent.
SLTD submitted the original International patent and then only elected to pursue country-specific patents for the United States, China, Singapore, and China.

Welcome back - it is great to hear from you again!
Regarding the voting proxy, the following statement was included in the provided materials ( http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1172631/000118518515002551/solar3d-def14a101315.htm ):
Your shares will be counted towards the quorum only if you submit a valid proxy, have voted via the Internet, have voted via telephone, or vote in person at the Annual Meeting. Abstentions and broker non-votes will be counted towards the quorum requirement. If there is no quorum, a majority of the votes present at the Annual Meeting may adjourn the meeting to another date.
I voted for everything except the Incentive Plan as well - but actually didn't vote "No" - just abstained - for the same reason . . .
Please continue to post more often . . . Posts 20, Followers 17 - still not a bad ratio
That's a really good point
Perhaps Kirk's vote is needed (for all of the shares he will acquire in the Elite acquisition)?
Well - I just did some conversions (relatively little amount) from STLD to the warrants and don't have any special insight.
The question is who is selling the warrants in batches of 500 today for $1.00?
Be careful - I invested in an engagement ring and then lost half my money twelve years later!
I think what you are asking is are there any other profitable publicly traded solar companies that don't use a lease model? I don't happen to know any . . .
There are private companies - Elite Solar - for example . . .
Thanks Carl - I look forward to your morning emails . . .
With respect to the Nasdaq site link - it is interesting that the net income for 2015's Q1 & Q3 (not shown yet on their site) exactly cancelled each other out.
The $123,000 loss through the first three quarters of fiscal 2015 is directly attributable to Q2.
Hopefully, we will have a strong fourth quarter which will yield positive net income for the trailing twelve months - so we can see positive EPS reported everywhere by next Spring . . .
Bucky - that alternate link is awful - look at the outdated company detail (reflects poorly on current state) and makes no mention of positive EPS
$100 million revenue for 2016 sounds very doable. Sure that is a lot of work so they can't keep doubling revenue indefinitely.
If Solar3D can get at least to $50 million in revenue this year and ELITE provides another $20 million expected (per August planned acquisition PR):
2015 Total : $70 million (pro forma)
If they can double revenue again next year (quite possible leading up to potential install incentive expiration) then that is $140 million potential revenue for 2016.
If they add additional acquisitions then even higher . . .
That's essentially what Jim communicated during the previous Q2 conference call in August.
I believe that it was the analyst, from Cowen, who restated that during today's conference call Q&A . . .
EDIT: P.S. The analyst also asked why R&D expenses decreased and Jim did mention again that the focus is off the cell until a manufacturing partner can be identified. He also mentioned that there has been a positive development for the patent in Asia that they hope to announce soon.
We're not even close to highest historical volume:
Jul 22, 2015 3.15 4.14 3.13 3.77 6,172,800 3.77
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=SLTD&a=2&b=10&c=2010&d=10&e=5&f=2015&g=d&z=66&y=66
It still probably is in the Top 10 though . . . :)
They extended until December 1st but could announce the acquisition any time prior to that date - even later this week, next week, etc.
From this morning's PR (my emphasis):
I believe that we dropped after-hours due to poor results by SCTY. I haven't seen but others were reporting that FSLR did very good.
Today, SLTD pre-market is up big ($3.61) but only on 100 shares volume so far . . .
It should be a fun week!
One good thing is I'm sleeping through the night now instead of checking my email in the middle of the night all the time to see if there was a new PR
Later in the transcript is where it is made clear that the backlog is for the total company:
There is a lot of news that can be announced between now and when earnings for Q2 are released in 10 months . . .
Nice post! While I would love to have SunPower produce our cell - I don't think that Jim would have made his statements in the Q2 conference call about the status of the cell if they had something already in the works . . .
If I recall his remarks were along the lines that they still were seeking a manufacturing partner and that the company was going to appoint someone, other than the CEO, to pursue that goal.
All IMO of course . . .
Yes - thanks for your post - when discussing the changes to the agenda - it was stated that the project will be "rescheduled".
Also, in case anyone missed it - the same meeting included a proclamation of Stephen A. Hogg day (August 27th) for Fresno. Apparently, he is leaving Fresno for Monterey. It sounds as though he is very well-respected by his peers and the council members so that may provide positive sentiment for MD Energy to officially be awarded the Fresno/Clovis solar project.
Agreed - F' no - and a completed Agenda does not yet appear as of this time on the Calendar for the September 10th City Council Meeting.
https://fresno.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
Going into September on the calendar - looks like the next actual City Council meeting will be on September 10th.
Yes - it was pretty dead Monday at market open also - it would be very frustrating if you were trying to buy/sell.
Thanks for sharing - I was reading an excerpt from a book where a strategy was recommended to monitor boards and address short arguments directly via a conference call. Boy - did that sound familiar . . .
P.S. You message was signed as SLTD Inventors - sure it was a typo but it was good for a little laugh
Haven't read the report yet - but cash per share seems to be based on old data: Cash/Share: $0.03
With roughly $9 million in cash and 17.7 million shares (14.x million float) - there should be considerably more cash/share unless I'm misinterpreting something . . .
SLTD reinvested money back into the company to fuel and support growth instead of paying TAXES.
Enterprise Resource Planning system pehaps?

We need to be careful not to expect too much. When they PR'd the preliminary numbers they probably already had done the rough calculations . . .
If they beat estimates from a week or two ago it would be great but it shouldn't be expected.
All IMO
$6 million in new projects so far this week to be specific
I'm a big fan of nuclear fusion (as generated by the Sun) so that we can collect it here on earth from a safe distance with high-efficiency solar panels.
The long-term cost of nuclear fission power plants cannot be quantified with any degree of certainty given inevitable accidents and the long-term containment of nuclear waste, etc.
IMO
So, you think it will go to $10 by end of August, but don't want to buy it next week at $4, because you could have bought it for $3.40 today . . .
Sounds like you don't believe your own PPS projection
P.S. As for the quality of the ER - we already know the preliminary numbers. IMO - the only thing that could be considered stellar will be any forward looking plans/acquisitions, etc.
Still long but growing weary
