Thanks Donna. <eom>
Reid, Do you know the Semi holdings symbol? The basket of semi that are traded. I use to have it but can't find it now.
I'm surprised this market keeps moving up. I'll keep my money in stocks moving up without the big gaps. Those gaps seen in the NASDAQ COMP are likely to get filled by the stocks that have the same voids in their charts.
TIA,
Fred
Me Too
Same here, If not for the gap I'd be feeling as though my emotions kept me from making money in this rally. At least my mutual funds will get a little massage
enjoy your day as well,
Fred
Again you've called this right, but it's a short term move up IMO. We left that void at the open yesterday so I wouldn't go long quite yet, but it looks good short term. Let's see how long it lasts.
Fred
It may be my imagination but it seems futures up before the open hasn't been very positive. I'm hopefull that eventually it will be an indication of which direction the market will move for the day. Ive been looking at the advances, declines and it appears that whenever we had advances out numbering declines it would reverse at the end of the day. That seems to be changing, and their holding up. Maybe that a sign that investers are moving back into the market. Thats just my observation.
Fred
Reid can you give me you opinion on this chart. I think the new servers are great, and will bring back some of your old friends. I see you were able to get the Voice chat. I hope it didn't cost you to much.

Fred
Reid, I don't need to look any further than my own portfolio, and it's a well diversified mix of mutual funds. I'm sure that list includes a lot of stocks I owned individually, and was lucky enough to sell with some profit and others just a minor losses. It appears that the term "It's to late to sell." has been mutilated along with it's believers.
Fred
I don't think news is effecting this market anymore. It's that overwhelming diappoinment that the party is over, and there is nothing to be optimistic about.
JMHO
Fred
worth owning yesterday? I didn't own it very long yesterday. I'm hoping it will be worth holding for a couple of points ^.
LOL
Sir Fred
Yes I did Reid. I drew a downtrend line from the top of the
3-8 candle down to the top of the candle on 3-23. When I was sure it would close above I bought. I've got a dentist appointment at 10:00 today. I forgot yesterday or I would have waited untill I got back today. I'll hope for it to move gradually just as it did yesterday untill I get back. I put a stop at 34.75.
Fred
Reid, Appears to moving above short term downtrend. No MACD signal, but a stochastics buy in place. Is it better to wait and see if it closes above the the downtrend line.
TIA

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your help.
Thanks Donna, Dave answered my question. He dispelled the notion it was a trade without risk.
Fred
Hi Donna, I was told that this would be a better question for you. I'm trying to find out more about a trading technique where you move money around picking up dividends by buying dividend paying stocks just for the one it's paid.
TIA
Fred
I can see how important reading candles are. The daily stochastic has signaled a buy, and the MACD has confirmed. Yet the candle seems to interpret the signals set by the intraday charts which is sending a different signal. In other words you better either look at intraday charts or know your candles.
Fred
Have you ever bought a dividend paying stock just for that one day your required too in order to get paid the dividend. I'm trying to find out more about it. Do you have any ideas where there may be some info on the subject?
Fred
Thanks for the feedback on VSH
Reid, what are the chances of Vishay taking out that resistance, and continuing that uptrend that stalled around Jan 31. Thanks in advance my friend.
Fred

It's unusual that I decide to sell and actually do it immediately. In the past I would have waited, and if lucky squeaked out with something. I think it's wiser to act, and then question your reasons. Just make sure your reasons are sound no matter what you use to come to them. In this case it was that candle, and the 30 minute chart. It looks like it's putting in a bottom today.
Fred
Thanks, I got out at 50 yesterday at the open. I didn't like the candle and after looking at the 30 minute chart I took my money. Thanks for hanging around.
Fred
Reid, could you update me on the ELN chart. I got back in at 47, and wasn't around yesterday. This morning I notice this candle that doesn't look very friendly. Atleast not for me.
TIA

CAPITULATE THIS!
I heard an interview on Yahoo Finance Vision with someone from Individual Investor. His opinion is that the professionals are waiting for the individual investor to capitulate. At that point they will come and buy up our losses. This worked for them in 87, but he feels we're a little smarter this time.
You can hear this interview at the site below. You may need a High speed connection.

Off to the parade
Fred
Thanks Reid, Those Sundays we spent on the SI thread being taught TA, and having you check charts for possible good entry candidates are surely missed. Is there any possibility we could do the same again, but in search for those low P/E stocks that have broken their downtrend. The way I see it is we will have individual stocks establishing bottoms, breaking their downtrends then begin establishing an upward trend. It would be nice if we all could participate in helping find these stocks. I would be able to contribute an hour a day, and a couple on weekends.
Just an Idea Reid that runs through my mind so often I needed to mention it.
Fred
Reid, I'm going to make an attempt to enter SIAL I figure support at 41. I will use the Stochastics and MACD for and use a tight stop. Do you think it will get to 41 or do you think it will bounce of the short term trend at about 43.6.
Of course this is using my novice chart reading abilities.
TIA
Fred
Reid, I've been pretty happy with the results of ELN. I just sold my position and have been able to add to it throuhgout the last 18 months. I sold when it couldn't break the previous high. The TA we you've taught works well with this stock. This is a drug delivery company, and I feel it will continue to move up and down and should be played on these waves. Could you give me the support levels, and your opinion on whether this stock has enough history to continue to be easily played using your charting technique.
TIA

Reid I'm thinking of entry HAND
Daily, stochastics and MACD have buy signals, but the bending in the Williams concerns me. I'm not sure about the candle either.

Thanks for the APCC info. I'll keep an eye on it.
I don't know what's driving SIAL. It was mentioned on a radio show that takes calls from listeners requesting TA using Fibonacci and ABC techniques. I thought I'd post it for you or anyone else that can make use of it. It looks so easy it scares me.
Fred
Reid, Look as this chart! up and away

I notice Reid that EMC, SUNW, CSCO have closed their gaps and AOL hasn't. I bought APCC at 12 after you reviewed it, the volume is drying up, and I'm curious if it's because of that gap, although price is climbing. It could be people aren't going to buy with that below it. Hopefully I'm making sense when I make these comments. The charts are getting essayer, but I need work on candles

Vendit, Doesn't Wednsday gap at openning make this rally in the NAZ short lived. Most of the big techs are showing the gap also. If we get a candle that comes downward and fills that gap, and closes higher than todays open we should be able to move higher. Is this what we should be looking for?
Fred
WS, Thanks for following up. Stockcharts.com charts your using are different than the ASK Research. This MACD with the cross over lines is easier to understand than the ASK Research.
I sold this morning, and made a dollar on the trade. Quite the trader aren't I. I wasn't comfortable holding without the TA backing me. I'll wait for stars to line up.
Are these settings of 12-26-9 to be used alone without regard to the stochastics. The way I was taught was stochastics firt signals using 15-5-5 then a confimation by the MACD 8-17-9. Are your settings going to be earlier making it a riskier entry.
Just trying to understand

Freeus, It's amazing I still continue to have faith in the Big Techs. I just recently reviewed and balanced my mutual funds to be more diversified, but I kept my Janus Global Tech.
Today I need to get out of the EMC purchase I made Friday, and keep moving snow of my property. Here in the Boston area their expecting 2 to 3 feet between today and tomorrow.
Have a good,
Fred
Thanks Terry, I'm getting a little to anxious. I'll try and get out with a little if I can. A stock that pauses and moves side way will usually continue to move in the direction of the trend. In this case down.
To think I owned most all these big tech companies, along with big gains. Then sold with little gains, and some small losses. Thanks to my anxiousness I sold, and don't have to worry about the last 10,20 points each has lost since them. So much for "it being to late to sell".
Now getting back into these stocks is the challenge I have in front of me.
Thanks
Fred
Hi WS, I bought EMC at 38 Friday. I plan on keeping it as short as it takes to hit my stop, or as long as will stay positive and continue up. I do have some knowledge using Vendit's charts, and realize there was no clear buy signal for EMC but had the impulse. Would you please give me your short term TA with Fridays candle explanation.
TIA
Fred
Thanks TC, I've been using Zone Alarm For about a month now. I've just made a few changes to some features after reading the article you posted. I'm using Verizon DSL with AOL content.
Fred
Hi Reid, I have another ticker that appears to have a nice chart. I know you like volume to be above the million for the TA to work at it's best, but this chart seems to indicate that the moves do correspond with TA. I was planning an entry at 21.50 which is a gap I noticed in both the 15 and 30 minute intraday charts. Can I get your opinion on the logic for my entry and you thoughts on the daily chart.
TIA
Fred

P:S I know there are more important features to be improved at InvestorsHub, but editing with the spell check would be nice.
Hi Freeus, It's developing into a fine looking chart IMO also, but Stchastics at 15-5-5, and MACD still have not signalled. It may just fizzle before it gets there. Intraday charts are in overbought areas, but appear want to remane there.
Fred
Reid, What's the chances that this continues to the upside
http://askresearch.com/cgi-bin/chart?symbol=onis&exchange=USA&size=640x480&months=3+mont...
Fred
Hi Reid,
I'm going to begin accumulating long term positions,"but" only stocks that have changed trend directions, and am out as soon as they drop below the trend.
I like most have been burnt by the change in direction of this market. Which gives me even more reason to want to benefit by it's change back up.
People who are trying to go long a stock should watch for bottom establish, and the trend up begin and hold.
I found this article and web site a good read. Just found it on the start page of SI
