SCC edit list comments problem this morning. The site is not processing changes to a list comments. Anyone else? Thanks
SCC site down this morning?
FYI I am in the middle of resolving this with SCC Support. The new HTML annotation tool does not work for me fully in either Firefox or Safari on the Mac laptop.
The old Flash annotation tool is no longer an option in the 10-per-page view of anyone's chart list, but it does appear as an option at the bottom of each chart when one clicks on a chart to see it alone, such as when one adds new parameters, dates, etc. to the chart.
A longer road to get there and back, but workable.
Thanks for your help, Cush.

Thanks for both notes. The "old" Flash annotation link stopped appearing as an option on my Mac this morning. I tried the HTML new tool when it appeared a week or two ago, but it never worked for me. Ditto this morning.
Think I will wait on the SCAN board until I hear back from Support from my help request and email. I sent a BCC to Arthur Hill but I see he is on vacation right now. We have corresponded in the past, so I was hoping he could chime in. Next week I guess . . .
Thanks again.
Thanks. I also sent them an email so we shall see.
Annotation problems on Mac
The new annotation tool seems to have removed the "old" annotation tool, as of this morning. Is anyone else using the Apple Mac platform having problems? After clicking on Annotate, all I get is a greyed out screen, with the annotation box for the chart further down the screen, but no annotation tools showing. I was able to double-click on a text box and change the text, but the Save box's formatting is also messed up. [changes did actually save though]
I cannot find a way to edit previous annotations (other than the text box), or to add new ones. The old familiar buttons at the top of the frame are not there.
Thanks.
Site down -- I first got a mostly blank yellow screen, then I got the s.c.a.n. page. The European markets are opening, and it would be nice to be able to work on my charts. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks
Ditto but no explanation on the home page or member's page.
The home page does not even redirect to a generic information page, so the outage must be widespread IMO.
Same here. They are aware of the problem.
New Edit view of chart list adds a "Return" between every line of the text at the top of the list (in this case my Public List).
When I hit Save to save edits, about half of the text was lost due to the new added Returns, and the limited data allowed for text at the top of the list.
Arrggghhhhhh !!!!
Do they check these things before changing the site?
Site partially down? Can't open many member functions. Anyone else?
[Edit -- now OK.]
SPY intra-day data failure. Anyone else?
Point well taken, Cush, and thank you for your years of support here.
The bad news?
SCC seems unable to move up to the next level of dependability and consistency.
Is this a money issue? One of intelligence and commitment?
Chip Anderson seems like a bright human being.
Why do these outages keep happening (not to mention that they are getting worse)?
Please contact Chip and ask him to post on his blog about this.
Please post your own thoughts here.
Thanks.
Chip -- did the new Cisco router arrive today per your blog post?
Do you still estimate a one-week installation and testing time?
Are you going to update your blog on this matter?
Ten years and counting for a reliable site!
"Worst month by far for outages" to quote Chip Anderson.
http://blogs.stockcharts.com/chipanderson/
Hard to imagine that a site which is ten years old +/- has not built in enough redundancy to make single pipeline failures a thing of the past, especially a site run, as I understand it, by a former Microsoft executive.
Oh, wait a minute, maybe this all makes sense now.
Hmmmmm.
"OK, Quasi, they had the whole weekend to get this ship back on course, and where are we? Lost in the Seattle Triangle again!
What's the excuse this time?
Thanks.
Charts back-- time stamp is 3:09 pm. Off to the pub I guess.
Ditto -- nothing posted by SCC on Members page.
[edit -- short notice now on members'page.]
Quasi,
Once again, you must be kidding, right?
You will recommend that SCC send out email notices about outages "regardless of the the spam and privacy issues which that might cause" ???
May I remind you that this is the Earth Year 002,009, and that spam and privacy issues have been handled -- EASILY !!! -- by choices made by any subscriber to ANY website which chooses to give its (PAYING) members CHOICE in communication?
SCC monitors its usage by the minute, and knows within a couple of minutes whether an outage is major or not! Not an issue, so why do you make it one? Send an email to all! Where's the beef, Chip? (chipped beef?)
Maybe the important questions are:
-- how many subscribers does SCC have?
-- how much would it cost to send out an email to ALL subscribers, versus to the limited newsletter list which you say has "chosen" to receive such notices?
-- is the cost of sending a general email the REAL reason it is not sent?
I too am a long-time subscriber of SCC from before 9/11/01, and I am generally very happy with the cost-effectiveness of the service. All I request is more friendly communication (and less protective brown-nosing communication here!)
Cheers
You are kidding, right? Site is down and they CANNOT tell all subscribers? They sure let me know when my renewal date is coming up!
Speaking of money, an offer of credit for this down time would be appropriate IMO.
Let's see if they have the thought-full-ness to do this.
Why not notify everyone?
Tick . . . tick . . . tick . . . no update!
It has now been almost two hours since SCC updated the blog. Are they concerned with keeping us updated?
SCC post referenced below claims they sent an email to all subscribers. I have received no emails.
Site down? Can't open any pages including home page.
Thanks.
Back up OK here. EOM
Site down? -- Can't open any chart lists. Home page is OK. Anyone else?
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Summary view (intra-day) was out completely but just came back.
Ditto -- not all are working in real time.
Edit -- and it appears to be getting worse.
Edit -- actually the intra-day charts appear to have the correct chart data within the charts, but the tops of the charts have the wrong date and data in many cases.
Ditto here
Problems? Site very slow, and some charts are not loading. Annotation windows are not openind. Anyone else?
Uh oh, some charts not loading -- red X in the box. Anyone else?
[Edit 10 minutes later -- now OK]
Ditto -- no intra-day data showing up on charts. Ominous way to start the week.
Plus some of the QQQQ daily and weekly charts are from Friday!
VIX intra-day not updating -- here we go again.
Plus no QQQQ intra-day data appears on short-term charts, only price at top of chart.
Really slow and VIX intra-day data is from 6/29. Here we go again?
Chip Anderson, are you listening?
If so, please post a personal public reply here, and a public reply on the members' page at SCC.
I have been a faithfull subscriber for a long time.
Why do these outages keep happening?
Can you recommend a more reliable charting platform?
Thank you.
Yo, Chip!
Your note from this morning dated 9 am (Pacific time, to be gracious) identifies the problem as an apparent pipeline issue.
Have you possibly realized that the pipeline has been too small many times before?
Why does SCC often go down when the intra-day volume volume takes off?
Where is the excess capacity?
Where is the redundancy?
Why does it take years to resolve this?
