Well, at this point, what I have left to lose is tiny compared to how far I'm down now, so I'm along for the ride. But as I just posted in a different reply, I'll likely buy up more with each sale they make.
I agree. I wish I had not bought into OOIL back when I did. I also got royally screwed by putting money in a private placement. But they are starting to sell now and I'm getting more bullish every month. I kind of HAVE TO be along for the ride as my shares are worth a fraction of the price I got in at...but on their first major sale, I'll likely start buying up more shares.
It was a 30/1 reverse split. After which they they diluted the shares by 30X. That hurt a lot!
Although all will be forgiven if these Frac water cleanup systems start making money and they don't do any more Reverse Splits!
Yup. That was some pretty good news. If they're going to hit it commercially, I'm guessing they must be getting close!
Got it. So these are the financial calculations to which you were referring.
Well, what he's saying is that electric cars are way more efficient and use less energy overall than fossil fuel based cars. No need for financial calculations here. This is fairly widely accepted fact now.
So, yes, if we all move to electric cars, and take every existing gas-run car off the road, then it will make more sense to go full on with solar and forget biofuel.
In the meantime until we get there, of all the fossil fuel substitutes available, algae is the clear winner.
Your "financial calculations"?
I'd love to see those.
I have been in for a few years, even before the Reverse Split, and I was in a private placement. So I'm so behind the 8-ball I have no choice but to average down and hope this company makes it into the big leagues.
Technically, they should be able to. Their tech is sound as a pound, and Riggs, in spite the slag-offs he gets here for his fairly ridiculously high salary, is tireless and is getting the OOIL name out there. And a CEO who doesn't take no for an answer is pretty much what a start up needs to succeed. So as long as he keeps working at it, they'll crack this nut.
I just hope they don't screw me out of the game with further stock manipulation. It's ironic that their earliest supporters -- the ones who were in the game because they truly believed in the stock, are the ones who stand to lose the most. Now I understand why the big boys in the market don't give a toss about ideology and big ideas -- it's all about the numbers.
I love this company, but I don't even watch the Money TV clips any more. The only thing that will grab my interest is revenue -- which, they are close to with the Algae Appliance. In fact, they sealed a deal for abou $150K. Still chump change, but there is a strong hint at solid sales of the bigger units in the near future. That will put a much needed smile on my face.
Unfortunately, they are also doing another private placement. Thanks to all of the stock manipulation, the stock price will continue to suck monkey bits until they get decent revenue -- and will only get to solid double digits if they become the rising star and really start to grow on solid earnings. Anything short of that, and the super diluted shares will keep the stock wallowing in the frac water.
Yes, the price decline has me worried also. It's just too much. And given the suspicion of insider trading before from Halong guys, maybe they know something that we don't.
I hear you on that! Like they say in that movie, "Show me the money!!" lol
This all boils down to the revenue.
In fact, I think that these partnerships are awesome. But I think that people are so used to hearing them and never seeing any follow through on the commercialization side that it either falls on deaf ears, or it worries people as they see the company chasing vertical after vertical instead of finding one that they can really kick ass at. And companies like that tend to run out of $$.
But Riggs has given some fairly strong hints that things are in the work that he can't talk about -- which usually means deals rather than partnerships. I hope that's the case because this stock will go to 20 cents --the pre RS if they don't get some green in the bank soon.
3.33% is barely even a statistical blip in a share at this price. Even 10% is nothing as a few K shares in the right direction can do that at low volume. So positive thinking aside, we won't see upside until the power players get in...and they won't get in until there's some solid revenue and the dilution and splits and other shenanigans stop.
And it will stop at some point. I'm still a huge fan of the company. But this stock isn't going anywhere until something solid happens.
Kimble...Why would I ask Riggs? I was asking you just to support what you wrote.
Look. There's enough hyperbole, generalizations and BS in the OTC market. We don't need any more here. So when you decide to throw something out there as fact, (you said: "Riggs is selling shares on a daily basis"), then it should be a fact that is based on something you know. Not just your anger and hatred for the guy.
Most of us who buy long on the OTC look at all data we can get. And there have been times you've posted things that do raise questions about Riggs. In particular, the huge salary that is a lot more than you'd expect for a typical start up CEO. I appreciated those links. In fact, they affected my forward investment in OOIL to some degree.
But as they used to say in Dragnet..Just the facts, Kimble. lol
Kimble, so you are saying that as of 2011, Riggs had sold about 60K shares, and he had been cleared for another 60K+ more.
I'm still looking for the documentation that supports your claim that Riggs "sells stock every single day."
But thanks for the yahoo link.
Agreed. It's time to get somebody to pay for the technology. The first sale in any of the verticals (algae / frack water / CO2 sequestration etc) will help get the ball rolling. Or maybe not -- Tarong didn't work out so well.
In terms of stock price, people are immune to the "good things coming" Money TV news, and even legit partnerships don't even show up as a blip, which shows that people just don't believe what they're hearing. I think all of the posts you see on the forums now by people working at or for the company just bumping feel-good or old-news posts -- they don't help either. In fact, I think they hurt the share price as it starts to sound like a promoted pump stock.
I really want OriginOil to succeed. I know I'm officially screwed as an investor for getting it early and having my money in private placement when they did the RS -- but I want to see it at least show that something good has come from all this waiting.
Kimble.
How can you see that he's selling stock every day?
Thanks for that perspective, Homeland. I've just been in this so long and we're now just sooooo close to this thing being rock solid with the financing that I'm looking into things too much.
But what you said makes sense. Most stocks start to drop in the absence of news. I normally don't notice as I tend not to watch my long holds too much...but this one I'm checking all the time. Anyway, thanks again!
Thanks for the explanation rite232. Much appreciated. I seriously don't understand those releases beyond buy and sell. I get it now. Thanks very much!! :)
Can anybody explain what the implications of today's news release are? I'm a fairly experienced investor, but I still have no clue what stock options are all about for companies. Is this good news or bad news?
Form 8-K for NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
28-Jan-2013
Change in Directors or Principal Officers, Regulation FD Disclosure
On January 23, 2013, the Board of Directors of New Energy Technologies, Inc. (the "Company") granted stock options to each of the members of the Company's Board of Directors, Jatinder Bhogal, Alastair Livesey, and Joseph Sierchio to purchase up to 40,000 shares of the Company's common stock. All options have an exercise price of $1.65, the closing price of the Company's common stock as quoted on the OTC Markets Group QB tier on January 23, 2013. The stock options vest as follows:
(a) As to 20,000 shares, at any time from January 23, 2013 through January 22, 2023; and
(b) As to 20,000 shares, at any time from January 23, 2014 through January 22, 2023.
CEO Bruce Hanson just flipped 200K shares at a $1 delta. He got 250K and sold about 200K.
Although insider sells scare the piss out of me at times like this, it's a drop in the bucket compared to his total share float, and he kept 50k of the shares he got invested.
Thanks for the info. Appreciated. I'm just jittery about the Hanlong thing. Cheers!
lol How is .67/share a positive note??
I'm a fan of OOIL. But let's leave the pump and dump talk until there's something to talk about.
Agreed. I don't think any major players will jump in until the China uncertainty is past us and the money is Stateside and in the bank! If it's going to happen, it should be within the next 2 months. REalllllly hoping this works out.
No idea about commercialization. But the letter I got back from them said about the same as their release. Lots of small steps going on, but nothing huge just yet and I've heard nothing concrete. I think, however, this will be a good few years for them. The Obama administration is pro alternative energy, which will help them.
As for this latest run, I am way down from when I bought in, so I sold some at about $1.63 as a hedge. My feeling, based on the sudden flurry of stock-pumping talk going around various boards, is that this run is just a trade-driving one. I don't see anything fundamental backing it up.
What's up with the PPS freefall these last couple of days? It's not the market. And it's well beyond consolidation. Does somebody know something I don't? The only thing that should move GMO right now is news of the impending loan.
Or am I just being jumpy here?
Progress update from Briana Erickson at NENE
I wrote to NENE a few days ago because I was concerned of the dearth of news releases...the lack of news seems to be killing the PPS and the slow decay of the share price had me thinking of just selling all of my holdings and moving on. Coincidentally, on that same day that I wrote to NENE, they gave a new release about the progress in patent protection. Very good news indeed. Then I got a very detailed progress report from Briana Erickson.
Seems like a lot is happening at New Energy Tech, so I'm going to ride out this storm and wait until this game changing tech gets into the market. Here's what Briana wrote:

Some good independent media coverage of the OriginOil / Ennesys collaboration in France. The video is here on Reuters:

I'm seeing more about OOIL on the mainstream media. This all bodes well. Go OOIL!
Is it just me, or is this thread suddenly packed with the same paid promoters that we see on Yahoo?
Before, for good or bad, people had something to say. Now we're just seeing "cheerleaders." Can I suggest that unless people have some news of value or some new analysis of the company, anything that is just a "Me too" post meant to "bump" previous positive posts constitutes SPAM?
Or is that just me?
Haven't heard a peep of news in months. Any word on whether these guys are getting closer to a commercial product?
Another OEM agreement signed, this time in Canada, for OriginOil's CLEAN-FRAC tech. Revenue will happen once these systems get used and they start paying a royalties-based fee.
The end of the article has some useful info on the Fracking situation in Canada. I found this bit the most interesting:
"A study previously issued by the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta suggested that “the choke point for the province’s oil sands expansion may not be the huge carbon dioxide emissions arising from mining and processing the sticky, bitumen containing tar sands, as is widely assumed, but a lack of water.” (The Globe and Mail: Choke point for oil sands may be water shortage.)"
Actually, can't OOIL also help out with that pesky CO2 emissions problem as well? lol
Here's the link.
And here's the copy cut and pasted:
OriginOil’s Second Licensing Agreement Targets Canadian Oil Sands Market
Alberta-based investor group to build and sell complete systems to oil service companies working on oil and water recovery
Los Angeles, California – November 27, 2012 –OriginOil, Inc. (OTC/BB: OOIL), the developer of a breakthrough energy production process for harvesting algae and cleaning up oil & gas water, announced today that its second original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) agreement will target oil service companies in the Canadian oil sands market.
Privately-held investor group LH Opportunity Group plans to work with Calgary-based specialty fabricator Ensteel Industries to design an end to end system, featuring OriginOil’s technology, for potential applications in the enhanced oil recovery and tailing pond water treatment markets.
LH was an early private investor in Athabasca Oil Corporation (TSX: ATH); while over its 40-year history, Ensteel has completed projects for companies like Propak Systems and Plains Fabrication that supply industry leaders in the Canadian oil and gas sector.
Bill Ross, President of LH Opportunity Group, stated, “We are very excited to take the lead in the Canadian market with OriginOil’s breakthrough technology, CLEAN-FRAC. Through Ensteel we believe we are very well equipped to begin manufacturing CLEAN-FRAC units in the very near term. We believe the opportunity in Canada is huge and our oil and gas community of decision makers is small and tight.”
Under the terms of the OEM agreement, OriginOil has granted a non-exclusive license to LH Opportunity Group to bundle OriginOil’s high-speed and chemical-free CLEAN-FRAC technology with systems that LH and Ensteel plan to develop. OriginOil will receive royalty payments based on a percentage of system sales revenue.
“Major oil sands producers in the region are expected to commit hundreds of millions of new dollars to water management and tailing pond treatment over the next few years,” said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginOil CEO. “Based on its track record, we have concluded that LH is an aggressive early adopter that is expected to quickly attack this new opportunity. We welcome LH and its partner Ensteel to our growing family of OEMs.”
OriginOil’s CLEAN-FRAC™ process is based on the company’s Solids Out of Solution™ technology that efficiently removes oils, suspended solids, insoluble organics and bacteria from produced or ‘frac flowback’ water, on a continuous flow basis and without the use of chemicals.
According to the US Bureau of Land Management, oil sand deposits are complex mixtures of sand, clays, water and bitumen, a “heavy” or highly viscous oil. The Alberta Geological Survey states that it takes from 2.5 to 4 barrels of water to produce one barrel of bitumen, and reclamation of mining sites must be done to a standard to at least the equivalent of their previous biological productivity.
A study previously issued by the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta suggested that “the choke point for the province’s oil sands expansion may not be the huge carbon dioxide emissions arising from mining and processing the sticky, bitumen containing tar sands, as is widely assumed, but a lack of water.” (The Globe and Mail: Choke point for oil sands may be water shortage.)
Working fine for me. Yup, probably just too many people logging in and the server has a simultaneous access limit.
And an 8% jump in the first 2 minutes of trading. Heeeyeah!
The ROD!!! Can't believe it's finally here. I'm cracking a bottle of wine to toast it!
These guys have run the marathon (actually, an obstacle course thanks to the Eureka council) and they finally crossed the finish line. Kudos to the entire General Moly team!
And thanks to Homeland and the other board members here who have helped me and others keep up with the latest news and given great explanations along the way. Much obliged!
And as coincidence would have it...this just released...another argument in support of biofuel.
The EPA has once again told those fighting against the Renewable Fuel Standards to piss off. Request denied! So if the government continues to mandate increased biofuel use like this...and given that we can't keep using food sources to make the stuff...algae wins 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. Slam dunk!!! Go OOIL!! lol
www.biofuelsdigest.com/bdigest/2012/11/16/epa-denies-appeal-to-waive-us-renewable-fuels-standard/
I totally agree about the price issue. Even if algae fuel costs the same per gallon as fossil fuels...Big Oil will just lower their prices a tad (so the dudes back in Saudi might have to opt for the older G4 jet instead of the G6 lol) to keep their monopoly. So it could take a long time indeed before biofuel can ever truly compete on price. Maybe it never will in our lifetimes.
Still, I think there will be a growing demand for it, since a significant number of people, particularly in North America and Europe, will (I believe) be willing to pay more for a carbon-neutral clean fuel.
Also, there is the growing awareness on the part of the US, and I would assume other belligerent nations like China, of the link between national security and energy independence. I think they will continue to push for biofuel -- as the US Navy has been doing -- to ensure that the US can truly become energy independent. That also should help push the OOIL technology forward.
And, just to really flog this horse good, there's the localization argument...Fossil fuel needs to be shipped, pumped, and trucked over enormous distances. That is costly in financial and CO2 terms. Algae oil, in particular, could be produced and refined independently in each state. Or simply created and burned to produce electricity in a carbon neutral manner. And all without having to haul it around the planet.
And yes -- too -- on the other OOIL gadget markets. I reckon the frack flow cleanup vertical they are working towards will dig my shares out of the abyss they are currently in long before the biofuel angle will.
Ecomike: While the share dilution thing is something that irks me (mostly because I was locked in and couldn't sell through the R/S), I'm holding fast.
One reason why I'm holding is in this latest interview with Riggs -- I think algae is going to be where it's at. So I'm going to have to suck on the loss in share price for another year (or 6 months, or 2 years...I have no idea), but they'll get there, so I'm keeping a fairly large chunk of OOIL and just letting it bubble. Here's the latest interview with Riggs. From today (15th) I think.
http://www.moneytv.net/videos/2012/46/OOILHD46.mov
LOL. I gotta admit, that was pretty funny.
Yeah, wish they would stop that. Basically a 30X dilution going on as we speak.
Origin Oil awarded "Popular Science" (i.e. The Magazine we all used to read when growing up!) prize for best new Green Tech.
Los Angeles, California – November 14, 2012 – OriginOil, Inc. (OTC/BB: OOIL), the developer of a breakthrough energy production process for harvesting algae and cleaning up oil and gas water, announced today that its high-speed algae harvester, the Algae Appliance™, has been awarded Popular Science magazine’s 2012 Best of What’s New Award in the Green category.
“For 25 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us - those that make a positive impact on our world today and challenge our view of what’s possible in the future,” said Jacob Ward, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Science. “The Best of What’s New Award is the magazine’s top honor, and the 100 winners - chosen from among thousands of entrants - each a revolution in its field.”
“Because algae lives in all that water and is so perishable, the algae industry needs a breakthrough harvesting technology to make it in the huge global energy and chemicals markets,” said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginOil CEO. “We thank Popular Science for recognizing that our proprietary, patent-pending Model 4 Algae Appliance could be that breakthrough.”
Each year, Popular Science reviews thousands of new products and innovations to choose the top 100 technologies across 12 categories. Winners are featured in the magazine’s annual “Best of What’s New” issue, one of Popular Science’s bestselling issues of the year, on newsstands today. According to the award website, “What are the qualities that earn a product a Best of What’s New award? Innovation and execution. Products that transform their category, that solve an unsolvable problem, that incorporate entirely new ideas and functions. We’re looking for ideas that are revolutionary, not evolutionary.”
Super low volume so far today 3 hours in. I'm guessing everybody is holding their breath just to make sure the FEIS review goes through without any D-baggery from the NEPA about that air quality "new information" they were on about at the last Eureka council meeting.
Can't wait for the ROD. I've been sitting on these shares for years now and looking forward to seeing my trading account runneth over! lol
Homeland -- Didn't know you were caught out in the hurricane! Sorry to hear that, and glad you and the rest of NY are picking up the pieces!
I can't argue with that. As a very early investor, I also haven't been happy with the share price and dilutions. I'm massively down as a result of holding on to this stock through the reverse split. And the current dilution isn't helping either.
Which is why I tell people to wait for signs of revenue news...which will come...before getting too invested. In this case, I was just sharing news. Algae is going to kick butt, and these guys have the IP to protect and scale up their business model. But...until there are signs of that, I encourage people to learn more and just be ready to pull the trigger when the time comes.
New MoneyTV interview with Riggs.
Not much news in here, but two good points. First, Riggs reaffirmed that they are going as fast as possible trying to get that integrated frack oil/water cleaning system put together. Related to that is the news that they have been reproducing their results consistently, all of which bodes well in terms of commercializing the technology.
Another point that he didn't get in to, but struck me as hugely important (I was a science geek major at uni) is that the OOIL process actually sanitizes the algae. By that, I assume he meant that the process either kills of or removes bacteria or competing micro-organisms from solution. This can have a HUGE impact in terms of shelf life, something that Riggs touched on. Compared with a system that doesn't sanitize, sanitizing will make it easier to maintain algae cultures over longer periods. Anyway, it struck me as yet another nice bit of news about the technology.
Anyway, here's the MoneyTV link

Good summary of the permits required in today's release from General Moly.
MT. HOPE PROJECT PERMITTING UPDATE
As announced on October 12, 2012 , the Mt. Hope Final Environmental Impact Statement ("EIS") Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register. The public review period for the Final EIS ends on November 13, 2012 . Following the close of this period, we anticipate the BLM to issue a Record of Decision ("ROD") allowing the Company to initiate construction activities. The Company continues to anticipate the ROD to be issued by the end of 2012.
In addition to the ROD, three Nevada state-issued permits are viewed as major environmental permits. These are the Air Quality Permit, Water Pollution Control Permit, and the Reclamation Permit. The Air Quality Permit was received on May 30, 2012 . The State of Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) published Notices of Proposed Action on October 1, 2012 stating their tentative decision to issue a Water Pollution Control Permit and a Reclamation Permit for the Mt. Hope Project. Following the 30-day public review and comment period, the hearing for both permits took place on October 30, 2012 . The Company anticipates receiving the Water Pollution Control Permit and Reclamation Permit in the same timeframe as the issuance of the ROD.
