It does seal better by flipping it. Also, I've noticed the cartridge is completely white and dry when empty. All the solution is extracted, nothing wasted. Probably close to 100% transfer of the nano beads.
I remove the nicotine/flavor cartridge from the soft top and squeeze it. I can tell if there is any solution left in the cartridge. I've also experimented, on a limited scale, with flipping the filter around and puffing on the other end when the flavor diminishes. I think this helps the flavor last longer. maybe???
Custom carrying cases would be cool. Storage for some filters and an extra battery or two would be sweet.
The wooshing sound is the air density changing due to heat effect. Sounds like you're dragging correctly. The buzz is another good thing too. This product does not give the user feedback like a vapor one does. That's how it's suppose to be, discrete. Keep using it, you will get more and more comfortable; it's like riding a bike for the first time.
My filter gets warm with use around the blue light area. The air is definitely warm coming out of the filter.
There is a heat sensation, very slight but it is there. The heat helps release the nano beads and provide a heat sensation. Put your tongue in the heated airflow, you will feel the heat. Now remove the filter from the heater and try the same test. Big difference heat vs no heat.
I am assuming the "sensor" is board mounted transducer or or some other pressure sensing device with an voltage output pinned to a transducer module and a FPGA. Simply plugging in a data cable to the battery port and writing new values to the FPGA (chip) would to allow the coil to energize sooner or at a lower vacuum. I would not mess with the heating time too much because can shorten battery life and cause premature wear of the coil. A larger capacity battery and larger coil would generate more heat but would also effect the package size. I know some would like the light to be mounted further back. It is possible but would required a major redesign. Maybe the next gen will have the light moved to where the user can see it better. I noticed the ibox shows a RE/AL with what looks like the light mounted further toward the tip - at the other end of the sensor body. It must be an early r&d version. If it has a mechanical switch, then changing the timing of the heater would be more difficult.
The filter paper, if allowed to get to wet for a long period of time, disintegrates. Hang that RE/AL on dry lips.
I to feel a nice throat kick, but only when hitting it like a joint. Anyone else?
I'd like to mention that this product would also be perfect in airports, trains, church and wherever you don't want to attract attention or where vapor smoke is band. For a smoker, this will not replace cigarettes (maybe for some), but will enhance his/her experience by providing more means of outlets never thought possible.
Why not just a purchase kit try it out for yourself. You have to try out the product of the company you are invested with. Oh, and I do feel a bit of a hit to the back of the throat. Hit the RE/AL like a joint.
Did the red light go off before pulling it off the charger? If so, then the unit is charged.
This works the best to get it to light. Take one quick short hard drag to kick the sensor off then go ahead and drag normally.
Try this, I like this method the best.
There is too much pressure drop through the filter. Either allow more air(ie., larger filter hole) or make the sensor for the blue light more sensitive so it comes on with less effort.
Right now, to overcome this as Tim mentioned, is to pull air with one quick burst then drag normally. This initial burst gets the sensor activated and over comes the pressure drop. Poking holes is probably not a good idea, because it's a pain (I've tried) and may allow too much air to fast to pass through the heating chamber resulting inadequate heating.
It would be nice if the battery had a flat white finish.
I think simply adjusting the sensor sensitivity is the answer. Thinking about it some. A larger filter hole may introduce too much air into the heater thus reducing max temperature of the air through the filter. Just a thought.
Filters are from Germany produced in a ISO 9001 clean room and the electronics are form China.
Biotechnologie GmbH in Nordhausen, Germany, is the sole producer of the filters and owns a patent to their nano technology filter.
I have mixed feelings about the current operation of the device. I find it takes too much suction to kick off the heating coil; not all the time, but enough to take notice.
I hope they have made improvements by reducing the suction required to activate the heating coil and/or provided a larger hole in the filter to allow more air through. I truly hope they fix these issues before the mega launch. When mine is working, I think it is a great product. On a note, does anyone else find themselves looking in a mirror to see if the blue light comes on? Long Live SFIO.
The ibox looks great. Good Job...
Sometime around August 2009
We don't know what their production capabilities are. Don't you think they would have thought about production capacity through before launch? Soft launch is likely what's going on at the moment. Expect volume to pick up as required.
I agree, this needs to be proven. So what if there is dilution. Marketing and production does not happen for free!! What about the employees, they need to be payed. It takes money to make money. I just hope Management is smart about it.
I've heard this so many times. Jeez, give it a break. PR's move us up temporarily, but only sales figures will we make significant gains. Like they say, Show me the money.
Huge gains prove it. Link Please or source. If you don't have proof then don't say things like this. We don't need a Yahoo Board here. We are all here to share info.
My RE/AL, for reals. Well, I've been using my RE/AL for over two weeks now. I'm not a smoker, but wanted to experience my investment. I have smoked before and know what it is like.
I enjoy the American Blend the most. The taste is smooth with a bit of harshness as the warn air coats the back of my throat - and the nicotine rush is nice too. I might become a user. LOL.
Positives.
1. Lightweight.
2. Flavor is pleasing.
3. Inexpensive.
4. Good Nicotine. Rush.
5. Aroma is cigarette like. Not sure if the vapor type e cigs has an aroma but it is nice to smell the tobacco like scent.
6. Filter feels like the real thing.
Negatives
1. There is a learning curve to it's use. Because of Item #2. mostly.
2. Finicky Operation. (not very consistent) Goes back to my earlier post regarding the microchip settings and pressure losses.
3. Heating coil fails before battery low indicator blinks.
I can definitely feel when the coil is not working, (ie.,no taste or warmth).
4. A little odd w/o the smoke action. We know this is a benefit though.
Cheers to all.
The reason they came out early was because of complaining. Huh... Where do you get the basis for this statement? Do you know something we don't know. Provide facts please. We don't know what their motives are. It's anyone's guess and you sir are guessing and misleading.
This is old news but shows the product has merit. We don't know what managements plans are, so we assume and fabricate stories whether they be wrong or right. This is damaging behavior and is counter productive. We need facts and news - they will come in due time.
I got this off the Smokefree Innotec news website.
Smokefree Innotec, Inc. (Pink Sheets: SFIO) announced today that its European office in Antwerp, Belgium, received
the results of an extensive focus group test performed by external marketing-research bureau VDGM&C in Belgium.
The World’s first, totally smoke-free hi-tec cigarette, REAL Smokefree, was presented and tested by an audience
divided into groups of light and heavy smokers of various age, gender and geographical origin.
These groups were asked to test the smokeless product in four well-defined categories: first impression – evaluation
and appreciation - comparison within the concept - buying intention.
The tests were performed in 3 phases: the preliminarily quantitative phase with the general public through phone
interviews; the qualitative approach with a series of group discussions and product testing; and, finally, a quantitative
approach with product testing to enumerate the findings of the qualitative part of the research.
The report shows that the REAL Smokefree ‘cigarette’ is perceived as a compelling alternative to regular smoking.
All participants were excited and enthusiastic at being invited to take part in this process. Strong points brought
forward are: the heating sensation experienced when inhaling; the look and feel of a ‘real cigarette’; and, the user
friendliness of the charger, filter and stick. 65% of the test persons would buy the product immediately if it would
have been available at the test site and would use it on a regular basis. 68% of the audience preferred the ‘cool mint’
taste over the Virginian blend: fresher and giving more pleasure in general. 73% would like to see a fruity, coffee or
chocolate taste: an idea that SFIO already decided to stay away from. And 25% would like to see a more colorful version
of the charger. Everybody involved confirmed that the suggested consumer price of the starter kit of 99€ and 9€ for
a 20 filter pack would be no inhibition to purchase the product. Only 13% would never consider buying a smoke free
alternative and rather quit smoking.
Manfred Bogaert, G.M. of SFIO’s European Operations, is confident that the positive test results will help distributors
and wholesalers to urge listing Real Smokefree in their product range. A concise report will be sent to all prospects
and interested parties in Europe to inform them about the markets interest in smoke-free products.
Vacuum Transducer is not sensitive enough to air flow.
They should be able to adjust the pressure value in the FPGA.I find it takes to much effort to get the RE/AL to heat. This may be a deterrent for new users. This has been discussed, but covering one of the intake holes momentarily while dragging makes the unit work more consistent and with less effort. Also, maybe the filter hole is too small causing too much pressure drop through the filter. Just some thoughts while using my RE/AL.
This is at the top of the SFIO board here. The smokeless device has a built-in sensor that distinguishes whether the smoker sucks on the filter or not. The pressure drop caused by the smoker triggers the intensive heating up of a coil to such a temperature that the sucked in air reaches a temperature high enough to evaporate the nicotine and aroma when it reaches the filter.
How can you be pretty sure. Do you know something?
I believe anticipated distributor announcements will not move this stock much. If we do get a pop, it won't last long. People get bored, loose interest and the stock falls. Only sales numbers will move this pig. Look at Rapid Fire Marketing, they inked three distribution deals and the stock went down. I'm long and nervous.
Here it is. Q1 2011 results on June 2, 2011.

The blue light comes on when you inhale correctly and will accompany a red hot heating element. I checked this by inhaling on the device without a filter in place and out of direct light.
Proper Gragging is a blue light. If you don't have a blue light you ecig is not vaporizing the contents of the filter. Puffs should always accompany a blue light. The manual stinks, it needs to explain the blue light. Also, there is a 5 sec waiting period between grags. Manual says nothing about this.
