Thank incat and 4 kids. Very helpful, though I wish you guys wouldn't use so many abbreviations. POS? Pile of doo doo? Still getting over Monday's roller coaster ride. Went shopping, bought two bottles of expensive wine to celebrate the exponential rise (like a souffle) of a certain solar stock only to get home half an hour later to discover most of my profit flattened out. (like a flattened out souffle). Managed to get out still up, only to discover two days later that had I stayed in, I'd have done a lot better. Happy though, not to have been fleeced by those nasty shorters.
Thanks Fourkids. You seem to know your onions. I'm new to this racket. I have tried wading through the abbreviations and think I understand what you're saying. Do I take it the hhww, the company are not responsible for the paid promotion, but that some other entity, i,e CITRON, whoever that might be, is - and that the idea is to run a stock up so that bets can be made on it coming back down again, as the hyped promotion is the only reason for it's sudden surge? If that's so, then I get it. I notice that you also appear on another board which I have followed NENE.OB. Did the same thing happen there?
Hi Imcat. I'm sure you've heard of 'whisper on wall street'. The following is part of a disclaimer which appears beneath their promotion of Horiyoshi:
"WFWS received a fee of twenty thousand dollars cash from a third
party (Winning Media) for this HHWW advertisement. This
compensation should be viewed as a potential conflict of interest".
As a potential investor I'd appreciate your comments on the apparent contradiction between this statement and your post.
Thanking you in anticipation of a prompt reply
Check out stockgumshoe for some healthy scepticism on this and other hyped stocks. I look forward to some good debate
OK. This is for anyone who hasn't been aware of this hyped advertisement in an 'Energy and Capital' newsletter dated 25th October 2010. Notice the correlation between this and the time the stock rose and kept rising.
Have You Heard of Sunless Solar?
Not far from the U.S. Capitol, a tiny $0.62 tech firm just did the impossible...
They unlocked the secret to harnessing solar energy — at any time, from any window!
This technology is so efficient and affordable, electric companies are already shaking in their boots.
Before the first big ticket contract comes — doubling the share price — click here to see what all the rage is about!
There have been several further repeats of this since, the last one as recently as 13th Dec, the day it was marched to the top of the hill and marched back down again.
CNBC Says It Could Be Energy's Silver Bullet
No one thought it would happen. But one tiny solar company just crushed every obstacle in the industry's way.
It's 300% more efficient than rooftop panels, can be applied to any glass surface, generates electricity at night, and could hand you 595% over the coming months!
This is what grabbed my attention and I'm sure, with a lot of help from this board's nene evangelists has been the reason for its roller coaster ride.
I had 5600. Went shopping yesterday when sp was 3.29. Bought two bottles of expensive wine to spend the evening celebrating some momentous gains, whilst I planned a holiday to Cambodia on the profits. Got home half an hour later to discover shares had nose dived to 2.1. Spent the night deliberating on changing from long to the exit. Instructed broker to sell with closing price at 2.25. Best price I got was 1.87. Looking at today's falls, that seems like a smart move. Should have got out before the shopping. Valuable lesson learned. Don't believe the hype.
my God. Talk about humpty dumpty and all the king's horses. That drop was apocaliptic
hold your nerve time?
still on 2.97 here. Damn, this thing takes a while crossing the atlantic
Interesting. Yesterday's UK Sunday Times Business news had a big article about how the chinese solar companies were blowing the US companies out of the water. There was a qualification though the US still had a technological edge over chinese on cutting edge developments. With a chinese scientist at the helm, I cant help wondering whether there is chinese money or takeover behind this. Any thoughts?
backed off to 2.86 from 2.90 here. Hope that's old news
keep posting updates please, those of you who have access to real time movement. I'm a few minutes behind you. Let's hope the emperor isn't naked
WOW!!!. While I was eating evening meal, I lost $250. Good to see it heading back up though. Helps the digestion
I'll be thinking 48 grand profit and thank you very much, if I've held my nerve. On the other hand if it turns out to be a bubble fueled by mad speculation and market manipulation and dives back down to pennies, I'll be thinking, oh what a greedy bastard I was.
This momentum has aroused all my greed receptors and put my head in a spin. Keep thinking it's too good to be true. Ever been at a great party and realized the next day you should have left before you got pissed and made a complete idiot of yourself? Yeh, starting to feel a danger of that happening. Your girl friend's tugging at your sleeve, saying come on darling I think you've had enough, but no babe, one more for the road please. Must make sure I leave the joint before the place gets raided. Should I stay or should I go? Damn!!
ah right. Thanks. Already seen it. It's what persuaded me to buy into this stock in the first place. Thanks "Energy and Capital".
where's the sticky section and what exactly am I navigating to?
let's be real. How long and under what circumstances do you think? The anticipation of an early retirement is making it hard for me to focus on my work.
thought I'd just announce myself. Been in Nene just over a month. My first trade. bought in at 1.4221. A long term punt, but goodness me, hadn't anticipated such early temptation to sell. Have enjoyed sharing the excitement of other posters
