Grumpy (w/good reason Marcos),
Throw some "stones", pull up your "shorts", and good luck Ameritrading (first trades free?).
Btw, what is, and how do they fix "electrical shorts"?
~LongFred (& I hope to stay that way)
Matt, And we cannot thank you enough for that...! eom
Hawk, RB is collapsing onto itself. Some of the better groups are coming over here.
I just hope (& trust) that what happened when some boards imploded on Yahoo, and they migrated onto RB, doesn't mean they will move here, when they decide to move off RB.
I think Matt will be very aware of that, so this place does not end up like the previous two...
It's a shame you have to use all these new tools to visit a board. I'd prefer not to have to use them. Kind of like having to put more & more locks on your door to protect yourself in a deteriorating neighborhood.
I would rather be in a better neighborhood, and be able to come & go more freely.
~FreedomFred
Hawk,
I do not think there are any pop-ups on iHub (at least, I have not experienced any).
What service are you referring to?
~F8
Looks good Jake (TRAC). All net. eom
Liz,
Ah, OK, got you on KIND LT now.
CRA, GERN, FBR, CMTN, JHF, ACG, INVN, DHF, were all stocks I mentioned, but since the thrust of our board (at least, on RB) was mainly with under $5 issues, that's the course we mostly stuck to...
All ideas are certainly welcome.
Diversification was my key.
~FreDiver
Liz,
Not completely clear on your last post.
But, cheaper stocks were the only way to fly for some time, IMHO, especially for shorter term holds.
Times are a changin' though.
My more expensive issues were mostly for longer term holds.
~DiversifiedF8
Searchin' & Studyin' Liz...
Will certainly post anything of worth (& don't forget I'm not a daytrader, and as vacation time draws closer, my choices will be of a bit longer-term in nature).
I will disclose size & length as well, i.e., size of position (weight) and length of expected hold, of course...
~HulkingF8
Liz,
Believe it or not, I have to steer clear of most green vegetables...promote kidney stones...ow, now I am steering away from that topic :( .
Today is a partial sell day, though, for some of my oldest green holdings.
Will be looking soon for some new choices, sort of, greener pastures you might say...
I think I'm starting to turn green :) .
~Hulk
Lizco, AOLA & ATTL...similar dangerous ones...eom
Marcos,
Heart monitor?
Hope you're OK. Have you been feeling bad, or is this just some kind of precautionary measure?
Funny thing about the check that Harrisdirect is asking you for...by the time they receive it, the trade will have been settled :/.
The three-day rule has been a funny animal online. While I do not abuse it, I have slid past it a couple of times (w/Ameritrade).
Difficult to say why some are targetted, unless one blatantly breaks the rule often, but the rule is gaining more observance.
Depending on how much you have in your account ($25,000, being the min.), will also affect how they treat you. Like Jake said, you could have been put on margin, but you also need a min. $ amt.
If you know someone by name at Harris, it may also be a good idea to remind them how long you have been with them, and you would hate to transfer your account (also mentioning you're part of a trading group = us). Sometimes, it helps.
Feel good, and let us know the outcome of both your endeavors.
See you with a strong heart, and possibly over at the Ameritrade trading desk.
~F8
Ditto that, same question. Who's Wayne Jones? eom
Oh, Marcos, you meant your online brokerage (I thought you meant your ISP).
Ameritrade seems to be the best overall online broker, IMHO.
Depending on your individual needs & trading style, search ones online that may have the tools you're used to using.
Jake, I believe, likes Schwab.
Most of the full-service brokerage houses, in my experience, are behind the times when it comes to their online service.
There are some smaller sites for frequent daytraders (names escape me at the moment), that you can ask about on daytrading, penny, and swing message boards.
I'm not familiar with Harrisdirect. What was your problem with them?
~F8
Marcos, Who are you using? I am having some great difficulties staying online this morning (AOL at home).
(Earthlink appears to be one of the better ones. Have it in office.)
~F8
Incidentally, SIRI pressed the opening bell at NAZ this morning.
Liz, I got a ton of SIRI in the $1.80's, so any move to the low $2's will have me selling some (or all possibly).
~F8
Ahh, Good Morning (after a good weekend)...
Now,...there's something I have to do today...oh yeah, back to...to...work, that's it.
(Hope I remember how.)
Something with the letters OPWV & SIRI look good so far...
Hope all had a firecracker weekend.
~~FF8 (my rocket's a little slow this morning)
:-}
^^^^Happy 4th To All^^^^
Remember, for you die hards, don't try to trade tomorrow.
Rheeman, that must be tough not being allowed to BBQ where you live %^) .
I'll aim a rocket in your general overhead direction...
<><><>FirecrackerFred<><><>
Rocky, WBR, like real estate (& REIT's), can take a little time.
It's recent bit of a fall was when it was shuffled out of the Russell 3's.
I still like it...
~Fredham
Liz, et.al.,
Winding down for the holiday at the moment.
When you say wild, are you referring to IIJI, or trying to find the right buttons?
~Fourth Of Fred
Cisco, lol, you talkin' to Liz again? Well, I'm happy she was able to help you out.
~Fred & I
OK. Jake & Fred's Thread
Matt,
This is almost a discussion for a board room, in person.
As business goes, we obviously have the customer side of the fence, who wants value added with low cost, and the "house" side, that wants a desirable product that increases customers & maximizes profit.
The reason I bring up Business 101, is because all the message boards I have seen, as they have grown & tried to integrate more & more on their site, have either turned into a children's zoo (Yahoo), or collapsed onto themself (many examples where they are mere shells of a message board now). Technology ran ahead of their business acumen.
I do not know who the technical expert here is (certainly not me), but, as with all business, don't try to expand too fast, or all at once.
The real time quote idea from Jake is a good start. A controlled amount of ads is OK (just don't go the pop-up route which ruins the whole experience). Of course, make sure your sight can handle all the features & all the traffic, well beforehand.
I too think Ameritrade is about the best overall online broker out there (except for the poor people who came over with Datek). I think that's a worthwhile idea to get a "sub to iHub" when you sign up with Ameritrade (& having the real time quotes on the board page will be a good added value, so you can visit the board without losing track of the stock price and/or have to jump back around to another page).
It warrants further discussion...Oh, I just had a rather ambitious thought: Since message boards include boards of other topics as well as stocks, maybe try to become a standardized program that comes already loaded on your new Dell, Gateway, HP, IBM, et.al.
"Get in touch with people right away on your new PC, using the Hub, and they can add to and even help you with your online experience."
To be continued...
~FRED8
Thanks Wccawa,
I have Macromedia Flash, but as you forewarned, I'm not touching the browser cache.
I did that once a while ago, and I might as well have just thrown everything out and started all over (similar result to what I had).
I'll test, defrag., use error-checking status, etc., but that's as far as I'll go.
I'll just have to watch that plane just sit there on the website (seems appropriate somehow :/ ).
~F8
Ron, did you check his rap sheet...
He sounds like one of the top ten most wanted (at least in cyberland).
(Hey, we're at 100 posts.)
Biotechs did good today (I hold CRA & GERN).
~F8
Good Grief Joe, you're a career criminal?!?
Did it come naturally, or were you working real hard at it?
Nice essay, by the way.
So, have you, ahem, learned your lesson yet?
Well, you don't have to answer that. We'll all know soon enough.
Good luck.
"See" you soon, or in 3-6...%^)
~Fed
Yo Joe,
I was reading where you might be posting these days and, without getting too personal, I noticed your post on The Jailhouse where you said you have a 24-hour cameo.
Does this mean you're only around for 24 hours (from a past digression, I imagine), and then you're gone from iHub again?
If you think a new moderator is needed, I'll check into it, and also see what the members here think.
We're all pretty much on even ground as a group, and get along pretty well (but, I guess, you never know what may show up in the future).
Thanks for stopping in, especially if you have a limited visit here.
But, don't worry, I'm not going to ask you too much...nope, I'm not going to ask what you did to get "Jailed" here, no sir...not even if it may be helpful to the rest of our group to know...as a sort of fair warning...negatory, I'm not asking...so, don't even try to tell me...no, no, that's ok, we'll be fine, I'm sure...(it would just be a shame if it happened to one of us, but, I'm still not asking...just too personal I think...)
I know when to mind my own business...don't I???
~Fred, shutting up now
Joemo$...
(Check my message to Matt, #52.)
I hope you do not mind me commandeering your board. It looked pretty quiet for a while, and we needed a new home pretty quickly (RB just about grinded to a halt with their server, filter, pop up,...& you name it...problems).
I trade on Ameritrade (as others in our group do), and it seemed like a good place to come to (& I actually owned AMTD for awhile).
If it's OK with you, we'd like to remain here. Thank you for the welcome, and just let us know if we are abiding by the rules.
Certainly join in if you have the time & are so inclined. (I guess I really did not have to tell you that.)
Thanks again, Fred
Wccawa,
Settings are on "Automatically".
Before I had a chance to check anything (a little while ago), I went back to the website and I had a black screen with Viva Airlines on top, my cursor was gone, and I was not able to continue or reboot.
I had to shut down and start again.
Now, I get a plane in the lower right hand corner of the screen, changing over to the old look after a few seconds.
Btw, "Fed" reminded me of my past position with the government, so Fed or Fred is just fine [especially if you have a speech imfediment, imfrediment...problem ].
~Fed8
I did not even see anything different on the website. :(
Anyone know if Tom skipped town for the possible tour at MIA this weekend?
My original thought (back in December/January) was that they should have kept things under wraps (especially dates) for about a year. In other words, announce a possible start up over the course of the next year, possibly sooner. Make definite announcements in PR's only with done deals.
This constant dragging on in PR's makes them look incapable of completing an announced course of action.
I'm holding now (partially because I'm trapped, partially because, however incapable, I don't believe they were making all this effort for nothing).
They definitely need to wise up soon, or however good their intentions might be, they will be taken down before they get started (mostly by their own fault).
Best of Luck to All, F8
Markets/SIRI/OPWV,
Markets much busier than anticipated today.
SIRI & OPWV had nice closes.
(XYBR still hangin' in there.)
~FredTech
Marcos,
For many years, I have kept a log of every transaction I make (as I make it).
I know today's technology can make it seem obsolete, but I never worry about tech flaws, power outtages, or any problems accessing what I am doing.
(Of course, keeping the 800# handy helps as well.)
~FredSheet
Nice OPWV news...
Now, at least for today, I can stop staring at it in my portfolio & wonder why it's still there...
~FredWave112/911
Liz, %^)...
Were you & Cisco holding IIJI?
Right now I am hoping to fly like an EAGle a bit on the EAG news.
Hope you're both doing well...:o/
~Me, Myself, & Fred
Cisco, I think it's a good thing, but I am not sure if you were asking Liz, or asking the board (in this case, I'll play the part of the board).
"R U Talkin' to Me", or R U Talkin'......to......Liz???
~Look Who's Talking...
Mokew,
Sorry about knocking you on the floor. ;)
Maybe put some pillows on the floor around your computer.
(And, no, I do not mean to imply any "pillow talk" here.)
~FredFloor (starting to worry a bit about the floor coming out from under the market presently)
Good Morning All,
I can feel the market starting to "Terminate" for the holiday weekend.
Maybe it'll "be back" for one last round this morning.
If we get a low volume swing, I trust it will be to the upside.
Good Luck, FT3
Gee, click "Hot!" on the top right...
Already, at least at the moment, we're the #1 Hot! board.
(I know I'm sweating in this 85 degree heat down here anyway.)
~F85*
I marked Marcos, Mokew, & Matt (hmmm, that's alotta M's).
~FredM
Lizco,
Other than the iHub link I left at RB, I also e-mailed ATM (Toonces).
If you think of anyone else, just make sure you put them through the once over: the examination, inspection, physical, background check, fingerprinting, frisking, hazing, strip search, orifice probe, rectal cavity search,...and IQ test.
That should be good for starters. (^%
