Thanks Hawk/WBR/ISO...
Are you saying that briefing.com is rumoring the possible WBR/ISO connection to EGND and, separately, respect98 is rumoring (himself, I guess) that he's brokering the deal?
Also, if you know, who exactly does respect98 represent?
I remember respect98 a bit from RB. I think he was in a finance related area (though, I thought he may have seemed a bit over the top in his opinions at times).
Have you "spoken" with respect98 (or how did you find out about his connection)?
Thanks again, F8
Who was that Green Guy that just went by...? Edit:
Anyone just see Sharon on CNBC...Oops!
It's all very mysterious to me...eom
"that"? What? Consumer confidence...Saddam's guard, Armstrong, Yankees, Bob Hope,...?
Wantoberich/The Original dpb5!
Have to be frugal here (18th & last post of the day).
WTBR, Joe Walsh, Life's Been Good (to me so far)"?
Dpb5!, That's a possible way to do it (during the same internet period), thanks.
(Of course, I cannot answer for Linda, but I'll give it a shot right now.)
Best, F8
Good tip. Thanks Bob. eom
Bob, Thank you for replying...
After reading your last two posts regarding this, frankly, I'm lost (my bad probably).
So, I'll just state this as I was accustomed to it on other boards and, if it's just not possible here, then no big deal.
You have the number of posts unread (regardless whether they're filtered, blocked, or hidden posters). You start reading from the earliest post (the hidden feature will keep off those unwanted posts, something I don't use, but let's keep it for arguments sake).
If you go away (ISP problems, power outtage, naked woman distracts you on another site......whatever), when you come back to the favorites page, you pick up where the number left off.
If there's an issue with zeroing the posts out, you just read the last post on that board (& you don't even have to read it, just click on it, of course).
In my simplistic view (although it has worked on other boards), if I am missing something, let me know. The premium feature you mention about marking the last post read, I have never encountered (as you allude to), and I really don't need it. Several boards do let you keep the number of posts unread until you have read them. That's all I'm referring to.
OK, what is this iHub dolt missing?
(I just had a thought. Is that service I described like a pyramid issue, i.e., when you get enough, or too many, posters, the system collapses onto itself for some reason?)
Best, Fred
Sorry Susie, I may have figured incorrectly. When I first posted the question here, I thought (given the name of this board, with Matt in the title) Matt would see it and possibly be the main person responding.
I certainly appreciate everyone's responses. I think Linda believes it's a feature for premium members but, and I should really just speak for myself here, why is it attempted to be offered to regular members?
I think you're right, though, if enough people ask, they may change it.
It's not that big a deal yet (I don't think). The combination of my possible "bug" not highlighting messages read, along with this, just gave me a tough time trying to assess new boards.
In the meantime, I'll figure something out (or, I'll have to stay on my "home" board).
Peace, Fred
Thanks Linda...Btw...
Were you born in NY? (You certainly do not have to respond to this if it's too personal.)
After reading through your thread on this issue, I believe I "get" you pretty clearly. That's not a bad thing.
If you were not born in NY, then your education &/or career path has taken you down a good road.
Even if you're wrong on this issue (I do not think you are), you present a good enough case for me. (Atty, engineer, or some detail oriented position maybe?)
~Presumptuous F8
Thanks Linda for the heads up. I'm learning...
and, while I tend to agree about the "bug" issue, I certainly do not want to come in-between anyone here.
Like I said, I'm not a tech (computer) guy, but I usually learn fast by listening to most with an open mind (I say most, because I can be just as stupid as the next person at times, lol).
Do you know if Matt (or Bob) has considered "fixing" this? (I'll continue reading through your thread as well. Maybe the answer is already there).
Thank you, Fred
Susie, I was responding to your message (in response to Churak) regarding the resetting of unread messages to zero.
(You may be right that the color issue is a bug with my computer.)
How can a feature not working properly (or working partly) be something reserved for premium members? That would seem a bit malicious at worst, or a bad judgement at best.
I'm no tech guy, but RB had a kind of similar problem in reverse when "bugs" (as I was told) got into their system and they just did not bother to fix them (a beginning to the exodus from RB, along with future server problems).
They appear much more attentive on this site. I would guess it's something they would consider "fixing". I do not know the correct terminology if it's not a bug, just something that may be considered to be "corrected". (IMHO, a standard type feature.)
Best, Fred
Well, I've been traveling around iHub today to try to figure out some glitches, glops, bugs,...and other sorts of UFO's.
I do see inchworm WBR (good one Liz).
Soaring SIRI (hopefully, will continue into 2nd Quarter report, 8/6).
Recovering XRMD & MSSN.
Still hopeful APOA & LMRI (LMRI T/A ).
OPWV & GOAM still dogging me.
FONR nice (Jake) & EAR............
~F8
Susie, Are you & Churak just joking around, or have you(s) had this problem [glitch, bug, error, idiosyncrasy, ]?
I cannot figure it out. RB had the opposite issue. If you read a message, it would still show up as unread.
~(Un)Read Fred
Oops, sorry AKvetch (& Matt) if I committed a faux pas.
I was merely responding to another's suggestion.
(I claim ignorance! I hope it was not a law.)
~Citizen Fred
Hi ShelleyBaseball. Yes, I almost missed you for just that reason.
Trying to get fully acclimated here...tripping on my computer as I figure things out...
Flying Fina lately? (Better not answer that here.)
~Flying (Blind) Fred
Churak, lol, I believe Matt is in the Tallahassee area. I moved to South Florida six years ago (from NY) and, from what I understand here, Tallahassee is just about considered in a different state.
He's probably a 6-7 hour drive away...
Does KKD deliver?
~Fred, from the "real" Florida %^)
Thanks AKvetch. After Churak & Drummerman directed me there, I was still trying to figure it out for myself.
It took me six times entering "Computer Learning" in the subject search before it stopped giving me "0" (zero) results.
I'm having quite a few challenges here today.
New Moon tomorrow?
~F8, the challenged one :-/
Hi, Does anyone know how to get the "messages read" highlighted (shaded) here on iHub.
I have tried the "Tools", "Internet Options", "Colors" route on my browser (IE), but can only get the "Hover" color to work.
Does this have anything to do with the messages read (unread) indicator not working here, or could it just be an incompatibility between my system & iHub?
Thank you, Low-Tech Fred
Hey, thanks guys (Drummerman, Churak). How did yous do that so quick?!
I'm on my way...
Best, F8
CharleyMike, Thanks again for your help. I cannot seem to get it to work.
Between that and the messages read (unread) indicator not working properly, it is very difficult to monitor several boards. (I guess I'll have to stay on my home board.)
Maybe there's something incompatible between my system & iHub.
Another poster suggested the Computer Learning board, but I cannot seem to find it.
~Fred, Lost in (Cyber)Space ~
Thank you CharleyMike. I have tried that, but it does not seem to work since I came to iHub.
The "Hover" color works (hovering over a post = red).
Could just certain color choices work here, or is that a silly thought?
Best, Fred
Does anyone know how you get your messages highlighted (shaded) if you've already read them?
Thank you, Fred
That's OK Ron. Sometimes I try to find where I first read something, and I think it would be easier to find Jimmy Hoffa, than find the source of an article. :)
RB is schizophrenic. Sometimes the servers work, and you can get some speed from message to message. Other times it goes back to knocking me off. The features have never been fully operational (to me) for months now.
One reversed glitch that both iHub & RB share is the messages read (unread) indicators. On RB, if you have read a message, it may still show up as unread. On iHub, if you have not read all the unread messages on a particular board after reading some, if you come back a little later, it will show them as read.
Not a big deal, but it was one of the first bugs in the features that I noticed on RB before several others started giving us trouble. (The shading of messages read used to be helpful. I wonder what happened to that?)
Oh well. I still think RB, presently, is a place that could not care less about what we say (as evidenced by the mass posting recently). If iHub can, at least, maintain their present service, we should be OK here.
IFHO (In Fred's Honest Opinion), F8
Ron, Were the 50 Basic Rules from the same website you posted the Microcap Trading notes from (OTC Journal, I believe), that I commented on?
If you don't remember, that's OK. (I read & copy so much, I forget if I'm quoting my own articles, lol).
But, if you do...?
Thanks, Fred
Jawmoke, You may want to add SIRI earnings on 8/6/03.
(2nd Quarter Financial & Operating Results)
Thank you, F8
Jake, Yes, quite a good finish for the week (I should have just stayed in bed until 3pm today, lol).
Pretty funny, yeah, about LMRI (which is a stock that must be awaiting some impending good news or somethin').
I did not realize that Rheeman meant Logistics Mgmt Res Inc.
LMRI looks like something good is happening.
I wonder how long LMRI, the guy, has been watching/holding LMRI, the stock?
:)
~F8, the term, the abbreviation, & the person
Rheeman, That's funny. I never realized you meant a stock (LMRI) in your moniker.
I thought it was some kind of family members' initials (w/R = Rheeman).
~FB
Tough week, but looks a little brighter for next week...
Watching CLN,
Holding XRMD & APOA,
WBR should start run next week into 8/5 earn. (same w/SIRI, 8/6, if #'s good).
GOAM turned into OPWV (frustrating, but good to trade if watch patterns closely).
Long MSSN (earn. 8/12).
Good Weekend To All, Fred
OT That's it?!? Are they kidding?
Anyone see the blanket message on all (what's left of) the RB boards?
"NOTICE TO USERS ABOUT SERVICE
We are in the process of optimizing our database, and while this occurs, posts prior to January 2003 will be temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.
RB Staff"
(LOL, and the post date was incorrect on each board page.)
Somebody shoot that Terra Bull & put it out of its misery already.
~Recovering F8
Ron, Good reminders of some of the basics. eom
Gee Liz, sounds like he went through quite a bit. :(
But, happy he is home. :)
Hope rocky Rocky is Rocky steady asap...
~SteadyFreddy
Art,
Nothing of any import being heard around here.
Is there a Bolivian stock exchange? Maybe they're trading on there :) .
~Viva Bolivia!
And up 2 cents to boot, lol. eom
Anne-Marie, Where in the Caribbean? eom
ATM, Good to see you get back in the swing of "tings".
Are you out of the "European state of mind" & back in the "NY state of mind' yet?
~F8FLNY
Liz, The RockWatch List. Great, thanks. YGM too. eom
Liz, If I weave too much, I'll just bob to counter it...:)...
I got an idea. Ask Rocky if he likes this deal. I'll help him walk around, if he helps me with my stock picks.
RockPicks
~FredLeg
Thanks for the eye opening Liz...
Still a bit under the weather, so I'll probably weave in & out today.
How's the Rock doing?
~F7 and a half (w/a little wbr on the side)
Took a shot on APOA this morning...
WBR may be ready to make a bit of a move here as well...
~F8, a bit under the weather :(
My best to the Rocky of Gibraltar...
hope it's a very tiny knife.
Quick Recovery, FredStone
