From what I've been reading I get the impression that there is uncertainty over production levels in the near-term. The decline in crude prices is definitely a factor as well. Haven't come across anything that would imply massive shorting taking place, but you never know. I was expecting a bit of a retracement despite the positive ER, just not a correction this drastic. We went up to above 8 very quickly in the past few months.
Support collapsing, getting ugly out there. Looks like we could see some support in the high 5's but really difficult to say at this point. I am staying long with a cost average around 6.
Yikes, it looks grim today as well. It will be interesting to see what Thursday's ER holds in store for us.
Wild day, tested support at 7.50 but finished green. Almost looks like someone tried a bear raid this morning. Feels bullish.
Halcon Resources - RW Baird initiated coverage of the oil and gas producer with an "outperform" rating and a price target of $10 a share. Shares gained in extended-hours trading.
Oh, what fun this is!
Looks like EOD bloodbath from here
Just set new volume record with two hours till bell.
Hayward presents tomorrow at 3:15pm.
LOL belleso, you are a hoot.
Highest volume day for APDN was 8/20 with 17,365,920 shares traded. We could test that record today if we keep at this rate.
Yes, already looks like some people have mentioned it on Stock Gumshoe.
Some inaccuracies and overstatements in the release, as would be expected. Especially this part:
If it's with DOD then perhaps we will see an expansion of DNA marking into other military applications?
Great find TyneMan, thanks for this.
Neal Ivey stated this in a comment very recently on the LinkedIn group, it answers one this board's longtime questions about the cost per unit for the marking.
I'm glad they're not doing earnings tomorrow. Reporting on Friday is often a sign that the numbers are weaker than anticipated.
Explosive day today, what do you think will be the long-term implications of the Certificate of Elimination?
Some fun academic reading about Friday earnings announcements.
Strategic Release of Information on Friday: Evidence from Earnings Announcements
:)
I'm not sure I totally understand the wording of this, I've never seen a "Certificate of Elimination" before. Does this mean these shares are being removed from the outstanding shares, a kind of reverse dilution?
Yes, which is probably why they are fighting Rochester and the SIA on this now as they hope to expand in the future. If you're only doing $400k worth of business with the DLA then DNA tagging would seem to be a draconian endeavor. However, if (or when) they scale up the program to other microcircuits the tagging will make more sense economically for even small contractors.
Perhaps APDN's Investor Relations team lurks amongst us on this very board!
We may still trace back, I feel as if most APDN followers were expecting this news and it was priced in to some extent.
But I hope I'm wrong ;)
Yee haw
Been watching this for a little while and picked up a handful of shares at $5.80, interested in seeing what happens here. Insiders only buy for one reason.
It's definitely in December, I remember seeing that somewhere. I'll try and find the link.
We'll at least have earnings sometime in mid-december.
Exactly, I've got no problem with it though. The pumpers' efforts and movements have become so predictable, I was able to load up and cash out along with them this time. :)
TA doesn't really lend itself to pennies like APDN with very little liquidity
I think we finish around .17 today, this is clearly the usual suspects at work with their pumping. We'll run on news for sure though. A pair of DFARS reports are due out later today as well as tomorrow's deadline for the DLA's RFI.
Look for these tomorrow:
DFARS Case 2012-D055: Detection and Avoidance of Counterfeit Electronic Parts – Will discuss draft proposed DFARS rule on 11/14/2012.
DFARS Case 2012-D050: Supply Chain Risk – Report due 14 Nov 2012
Most likely, we've all seen this several times before.
Guess we'll find out tomorrow!
Up 25% on the day... not bad.
Wish I could log in to read the article. Whoever wrote the article got APDN's name entirely wrong (Advanced DNA Systems?).
Big movement, perhaps in anticipation of the 14th and 15th?
Anyone else see the order for a quarter million shares go through on L2?
