Question: Was anyone given an explanation before the meeting as to why a share increase is needed?
The wife and I have shares in three different accounts, and we didn't vote our shares because it was not clear what we were voting for or against in regard to a share increase. Before I vote to increase shares I want to know what is going to be done with the shares, and I want to see significant business progress. This explanation was never given until the shareholder's meeting. If a clear explanation is given of what is going to be done with an authorized share increase I will vote for it.
I get it x. But you are letting the company off too lightly here. It is their job to communicate. Steve has many of our email addresses and phone numbers. Contact us and tell us, man to man, out front... what are the additional shares going to be used for? Too many of us have been invested in prior biotech and other start-ups that just keep issuing shares "ad infinitum" until our share price was diluted into oblivion. If you want to build trust you have to communicate what your'e doing and then do it. I have been a fan of TZ, and I still am and I see execution here. If the brokerage houses messed up, then LWLG needs to pursue that avenue as well. I love the direction of the company. And, I think with a special meeting with clear communication such as, "We are issuing more shares for a future acquisition that will add great synergistic value to our company... yada... yada... yada" and it will happen.
Here is a pretty good paper on the subject...
Guiding Light in Electro-Optic Polymers - Anna L. Pyayt
"Photobleached and e-Beam Bleached Waveguides
When it is desirable to avoid wet chemicals, such as different solvents and developers, alternative approaches to waveguide patterning have to be used. One such approach is based on bleaching of the EO polymers. Decomposition of the chromophore molecules under direct UV or electron beam irradiation reduces the refractive index of chromophore containing polymers (Figure 4(a)) [12,13]. High energy photons or electrons break the bonds, chromophore molecules decompose and the material color bleaches out. Created refractive index contrast can be ~0.06–0.07—enough for efficient light guiding."
Yes... i agree x that the share count lack of votes was "too bad", but honestly it was LWLG that failed to communicate what the increase in share count is intended for. LWLG needs to give an explanation on "Why" the increase is needed with more substantial information, communicate the importance of voting shares, and I think we're good.
I agree Buz. They gave us more information at the meeting about the need for a share increase than they did before the meeting.
The fuzzy nature of the communication of the idea for a share increase doomed the vote to a lack of interest and enthusiasm by shareholders.
It's not going to be 50 dollars and it's not going to be 25 cents in three months. It might be 3 dollars and it might be 75 cents in 3 months.
I don't trade in 3 month increments, so I don't really care. Where it's at in 3 years is always a concern, and in 10 years is a concern. This is investing, not trading.
Must be X buying some for Kinfolk :).
LWLG finally in the right place at the right time.
Buz.... I'm not tracking with you here. Price is going up in the last 7 weeks. Volume is up. pp is happening. Other than prototype/revenue what are you looking for from Lauro?
An even handed write-up on hot stocked...
Doesn't sound like they are doing a pump job... just noting what we are seeing.
It's the consistency of the heavy volume for the last 6 weeks that is an anomaly from the action on LWLG for the last two years. I invest slowly, as I have been doing in LWLG for about 3 years, but I still watch it every day.
Trading? Any informed ideas on why the trading volume has ramped up so much lately? It's still moving up very slowly considering the volume, but better than the dull drip, drip, drip pattern that we have been in for months.
60 percent? You have no idea whether it is 90 percent or 10 percent.
Help me out with the volume on the chart. If you look at the trades on Investor's Hub there graph under the prices shows green, blue, and red trades. What is the difference between each of these trades?
Big dilemma for me is whether to buy a new golf cart or buy a few thousand more shares of LWLG... Life if good.
Regarding Facebook.....
Get the right people's attention at the right time with the right marketing, and "Bammo" we've got a buy of LWLG like Oculus just experienced.
I'm not totally sure what we can do as shareholders, but we're also not powerless in this communication age. I certainly don't know anyone at Facebook. On the other hand it is the age of networking and Facebook is built on networking, so network away and try to get someone's attention there at Facebook, meaning that if you're a shareholder send an email to Facebook, tweet someone there, whatever, get the buzz going. Don't say that is Steve's job or Tom's job. Yes, it's their job, but it's our job as well.
Just my two cents based on some interaction that I had with Cisco regarding LWLG about three years ago now.
Apparently we do :). Seriously, Tom explains himself well enough. He is at LWLG to lead the company and leaders communicate with their constituency (shareholders in this case)and the constituency helps create the buzz, buz.
I am not "Wise" and I did not ask how much it was going to cost, but it's better than radio ads. The thousands upon thousands of small public companies have to find some way to get their name out... even if it's an interview that the company has to pay for... communication is good.
Excellent! I contacted Steve about 6 weeks ago about the possibility of doing this kind of thing regularly and he told me that they were working on it.
Good to see follow through.
So, BSmith, you write, "People at the company look at this board often. People who have ties to the company look at this board often."
If this were true, which I highly doubt, then the charge of incompetence would indeed be justified. I have a very hard time believing anyone at LWLG sits around wasting as much time as we do on these message boards. That "would make" me mad.
Good stuff Gates. We know who Hal is, what his history is with LWLG, and what he has said with his credibility on the line.
As for BSmith... until he tells us who he is, then there is no credibility.... just his name: "BS".
Some of what he writes is thought provoking, but most of what he writes are rabbit trails that are without factual, updated information or credibility. When a person writes something anonymously they can write anything, and he does.
The question often asked, "Why is he here?" There is either a financial incentive or an emotional reaction of some kind against LWLG.
So, I'm still accumulating.... not as many as "X", but getting closer to my hundred thousand.
I understand, but my point is that they are not going to make a public announcement of mistaken data.
Really BSmith? You think they are measuring charges from mechanical effects? Cmon Man.
There are no problems with solubility. LWLG is working on tweeking specifications for specific applications.
Lou Bintz, Vice President Product Development stated, "In addition to being able to combine chromophores into a single host polymer, we can also manipulate the periphery of our core Perkinamine(TM) chromophores. We now have the flexibility of a nanoscale molecular 'range of color' that allows us to adjust the absorption properties of the EO polymers to address the individual frequency requirements of specific applications."
One of my companies I hold some shares in is starting to utilize social media in what looks like it may be an effective direction with feeds to the CEO blog, facebook, twitter, etc.
This would be such a better communication direction for LWLG than running radio commercials.
See http://investorshub.advfn.com/Advaxis-Inc-ADXS-4860/
And, I'm not pumping Advaxis, though I'm not against sharing investment ideas. I'm primarily posting this as a paradigm for Lightwave Logic. This is a very cost effective way for a small company to get their message out. Surely someone at Lightwave is savvy to new media. And, it can be done without violating security laws, etc...
My guess... all this may have to do with the patent application.... see Buz's post that I am responding to. This is an extremely significant patent application that they have been working on a long time.
$2.71 initial target price from See Thru Equity...
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/seethruequity-initiates-research-coverage-lightwave-140000850.html
“With increased stability (both thermal and photo optic), a cheaper and easier manufacturing process, product customization, reduced component size, reduced power requirements and increased speed and accuracy when compared to current products, it is easy to see why Lightwave Logic believes it has transformative organic nonlinear polymer technology that has the potential to replace inorganic materials like lithium niobate as the material of choice for future photonic devices in high speed telecommunications and data communications markets. Each of the devices currently under development address multi-billion dollar opportunities. We have subsequently established an initial price target of $2.71 per share,” commented Ajay Tandon, Chief Executive Officer of SeeThruEquity
"We have demonstrated an athermal silicon photonic modulator with the largest electro-
optic response, lowest power, and lowest single-ended voltage demonstrated to date
over a 10° C temperature range. The record 250pm/V (30GHz/V) electro-optic response enables error-free 1-fJ/bit and 3-fJ/bit operation at a data rate of 25Gb/s and AC coupled drive of 0.5V
PP in a 4.8µm diameter microdisk modulator over 7.5° C and 10°C temperature ranges, respectively. Driven harder, the modulator demonstrates open eye - diagrams up to 44Gb/s."

It would take me a month of intense study to understand everything in this paper, but definitely impressive.
Proto.... the linking may be part of the reason to be here, but it's also to escape from the idiots and bizarre posters over on the yahoo board and to have actual real discussions here on the ihub board.
Thanks to those who do so, and especially to those who contribute verifiable factual details.
Maybe so, but our first revenue is in the military sector, and as the guys hinted at yesterday, contracts in this sector get bigger as you have more to offer, so in the end, my guess is we are going to be glad for the connections that Zelibor has, even if he isn't a finance/marketing CEO guy.
Tom is here to right the ship when it was sinking, and he's doing it. Someone else is going to be steering soon. If I recall correctly Tom's commitment is to 2 years at the helm, and it's already 18 months or so.
Thanks Purps....
Also, there was some chatter on this board the other day about Tesla. I recommend the free Kindle book, "Tesla" for some easy reading on his life.
Stick with what we know. All the rest is smoke and mirrors.
Siraj has been here a little over a month...
Siraj Nour El Ahmadi stated, “I am extremely honored to be joining such a prestigious Board of Directors and to help the management team achieve commercialization of their products. I have been very impressed by the viability of Lightwave Logic’s organic nonlinear optical polymer technology and am excited for the opportunity to help Lightwave’s team advance their devices and materials into the market.”
Steve...
With all due respect I don't think that your analogy is a good one because the presumption is that there is only one game going on. While it's absolutely essential for LWLG to "finish the game" the electro-optic market is so large that if the goo works and it can be made in an efficient manner in large scale production, then it really doesn't matter what other companies and universities produce. It's just a matter of what fraction of the market there is for perk and its derivatives.
It's not "do or die." It's "how to do it" in an efficient way with the engineering process capable of being reproduced a billion times.
So, if I'm reading this document correctly this is highly positive news for Gigoptix. I have never held a share of GIG in my life. So, tell why I should not buy some shares in LWLG competitor. And, I am of the opinion that even if GIG is successful that's still a positive for LWLG as there are lots of different markets out there for LWLG regardless of what GIG does. It's not gonna be VHS versus Betamax... the market for EO polymers is way more complex than for videotapes.
Well, I probably bought at the high of the day at .94, but I'm in for another 10,000.
So we've got the governor's tour of LWLG on June 27 and BSmith shows up in July and LWLG starts courting institutional investors in September.
Maybe there's the BSmith OPSIS connection or maybe somebody is trying to shake loose some shares.
Thanks for the fireworks display.
Nothing ever guaranteed, but... it's way too late to "give up the ship" at this point.
Lots of chatter, lots of noise, something is up... waiting to see what it is.
So, Bob Smith... LinkedIn tells me that there is a Bob Smith who was a Member Of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories
April 1965 – March 1969 (4 years) Allentown, PA
New synthetic single crystal property research on piezoelectric and electro-optical materials
Is this you?
When you go to the Stonegate web page be sure to take a look at the powerpoint presentation... an impressive resume by Stonegate... lots of institutional contacts.
Also, Zelibor is still doing just what he told us he would do. Guessing like all of you... device ready for the road show.
