UPDATE: Clearwire Says Qualcomm Pact To Help With Wholesale Deals
1 minutes ago - Dow Jones News
--Clearwire sees Qualcomm chip contract helping with wholesale deals
--CEO says Clearwire has sufficient capital for operations
--Clearwire in talks with vendors over construction costs
(Updates with CEO's comments about capital, beginning in fifth paragraph.)
By Greg Bensinger
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
NEW ORLEANS (Dow Jones)--Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) Chief Executive Erik Prusch said he can make wholesale deals with the largest carriers such as AT&T Inc. (T) after signing a deal with Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) to provide chips that work with the company's high-speed wireless network.
Prusch said the chips would work on differing versions of the 4G LTE high-speed, mobile-broadband network Clearwire and others are building out. Clearwire has committed about $600 million to some of the largest U.S. cities over the next two years.
In an interview Tuesday, Prusch said the Qualcomm deal equips companies "like T-Mobile, AT&T or others to do business with us." He declined to say which carriers Clearwire had held talks with about wholesale deals.
Clearwire is playing catch-up to AT&T and Verizon Wireless in rolling out 4G LTE, a transition from its original WiMax 4G service. He said Clearwire was on schedule to introduce its first 4G LTE markets next year.
Prusch also said Clearwire had sufficient capital for its operations, but it was still looking for ways to raise funds to help with its new network buildout. He said options include selling some of its spectrum, though the carrier has no immediate plans to do so.
Clearwire this month announced a plan to raise $300 million by selling shares. It is also negotiating with its vendors for financing to help with the company's construction costs.
Prusch declined to say which vendors Clearwire has been speaking with.

Boost, Virgin intro prepaid WiMAX via HTC Evo smartphones
By mdano
Created May 8 2012 - 10:26am
Following through on its promise to launch prepaid WiMAX services, Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S [1]) announced its Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile brands will begin offering unlimited, unthrottled WiMAX data services starting later this month. The offerings will coincide with the launch of the HTC Evo V 4G on Virgin for $299 and the HTC Evo Design 4G on Boost also for $299.
[2]
Evo V 4G
Sprint has offered postpaid WiMAX smartphones for years through its partnership with Clearwire (NASDAQ:CLWR [3]), but it is in the midst of upgrading its CDMA network to LTE. Sprint recently announced its first LTE phones, the LG Viper and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Thus, Sprint appears keen to push its WiMAX offerings down to two of its three prepaid wireless brands (Sprint also offers low-cost, prepaid voice services through its Assurance Wireless brand).
Here's how Sprint's new prepaid WiMAX services break down:
--Virgin Mobile's offerings start at $35 per month for unlimited messaging, 300 minutes of talk and unlimited data speeds. The carrier said there will be no throttling or caps on its WiMAX service. However, Virgin will slow users' CDMA data speeds after they consume 2.5 GB of data in a month. Users will be able to make use of the Evo V's tethering services for an extra $15 per month (and if they purchase the tethering plan, their CDMA data speeds will be slowed after 3.5 GB of data per month).
--Boost's unlimited talk, text and data services start at $55 per month and tethering on the Evo Design 4G will cost an extra $10 per month. Boost currently does not throttle or cap its CDMA data service, and it will not throttle or cap its WiMAX service.
However, Boost announced that "later this year" it too will begin slowing users' CDMA speeds after they consume 2.5 GB of data in a month. Virgin began slowing users' CDMA speeds in March. Boost said it will slow users' CDMA speeds to 256 Kbps if they use more than 2.5 GB in a month, but will restore full data speeds when a customer's new monthly plan begins. The move is an attempt to prevent users from overwhelming Sprint's data network. Boost confirmed it has no plans to throttle users' WiMAX speeds.
Interestingly, Sprint continues to offer unthrottled, unlimited CDMA data via its postpaid Simply Everything plans, which it sells under its main Sprint brand.
In other prepaid news, TracFone's Straight Talk has begun selling a new Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, for $179 when paired with its $45 unlimited service.

I'm hurting here badly in the short-term, down -38.57%. However, I will post here later in the future when I'm up about the same percentage :)
CLWR
Also keep in mind the indexes and essentially the market as a whole have been dipping between -1% and -2% daily. Therefore, this stock has been dropping in value not just from selling on the stock but in mutual funds, derivatives, and other securities tied to the stock.
CLWR
People have to realize it's trading lol, stocks always trade up and down but you have to focus on the medium-long term performance. As I said before, if you want to actually pattern-day trade you need to trade stocks at $20 or higher PPS and you need to be in and out quickly as well as never hold overnight. It is not the case in CLWR, I bet to say here most of us are either value investors or swing traders. I'm both patter-day trader and value investor.
CLWR
Market is getting punked to dump, this stock still has a target price of $5.06 by Thompson Reuters analysts. It is being as efficient as possible in growing and locking in market share. I'm upset it dropped from where I bought but no one can call a bottom in the market with precision, I'd say $2 is a bottom in the long-term $1 to $2 where this is heading isn't much of a difference for a value investor like myself.

Seems we're about to break a new low lol, pretty unsettling but one can only joke around to not get depressed, hehe.
CLWR
Actually, that is precisely what Credit Suisse wanted them to do, sell spectrum. If you present at the CC or heard the upload of it afterwards you can notice the fund manager at CS stating that. However, management's perspective is that the spectrum is their comparative advantage and as a result they don't want to sell any of it right now. Spectrum is scarce right now in the telecom industry and being that CLWR has most of it, it is to their best interest to hold on to it for now. Equity offering / bond issuance are usually the first line of financing. Hence, being a publicly traded company.
CLWR
CLWR is raising $300M but in another 3-4 quarters it will be making billions more.

People have to understand that money raised is being reinvested in the G4 network and debt payments. It is just a reallocation of funds. If you sell shares but pay off debt then your value remains the same because you find value from assets-liabilities. It's sucks that this stock has dropped as far as it did in the short-term but in the long-term it will be trading much higher than it was before.
CLWR
Well you replied to my message so I figured it was to me, I'm a day trader and value investor. I take long positions on some stocks like this one, and day trade others. However, like I said any real trader trading with a significant amount of capital will trade stocks that are at minimum $20 per share, if you are trading stocks that aren't margin-able then you are playing with pocket change. If one cannot understand this simple rule then that individual trades with negligible capital.
CLWR
I strongly agree, even at the $2+ range they were accumulating heavily. Shorts have had their fun and soon if they don't cover it's going to get really ugly for them.
CLWR
Also I'm a day trader, real traders don't trade non-margin-able stocks, this stock dropped almost consistently hitting new lows and breaking down from the moving averages so no it would have not been wise to trade go long or even trade it. Trading funds don't clear until the following trading days which is why you don't trade non-margin-able stocks.
CLWR
Where did you see me complain about holding? My point is that most don't have more funds to buy the stock because they either bought at a higher price or have been averaging down. Only people that have not yet taken a position can buy right now. I bought my first shares at $2.15 and I thought this was going to finally break to the upside but it instead broke down. Although, I did not think the stock would dip like this I am here for the long-term and strongly believe this will break the 52wk high this year just not happening how I initially thought it would.
CLWR
Hindsight is 20/20, everyone here is underwater as there is no way to know when a stock, index or market will hit bottom.
CLWR
I guess the manipulation continues on this stock, not going to get shake me off my shares. They'll push it up hard before the next financials. A bit upsetting that we are trading this low but that comes with trading in the market.

Sequans and Clearwire to Collaborate on TDD-LTE Ecosystem
Development
Companies to Work Closely on Performance Testing and Prototyping of
TDD-LTE Devices
PARIS and BELLEVUE, Wash., May 7, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- 4G
chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE:SQNS) and Clearwire (Nasdaq:CLWR), a
leading provider of wireless broadband services, today announced an agreement to
collaborate on LTE for the purpose of accelerating the availability of LTE
devices for Clearwire's planned TDD-LTE network and to optimize the user
experience for Clearwire's customers. The two companies will work together on
performance testing and certification, standards development, and the creation
of devices to support multi-band, multi-mode TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE solutions.
"Clearwire is a 4G leader with big plans for TDD-LTE where it is establishing
strategic partnerships around the world to develop and strengthen the TDD-LTE
ecosystem," said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. "Continuing the successful
relationship begun under their current 4G network configuration into TDD-LTE
makes perfect sense for our two companies. We are very pleased to continue our
collaboration with Clearwire."
"As one of the largest chip providers for a wide range of devices in the WiMAX
ecosystem, Sequans has been a major enabler of our growth," said John Saw,
Clearwire's Chief Technology Officer. "We are pleased to work with Sequans to
bring LTE devices to market while also ensuring that the user experience on our
planned LTE Advanced-ready network is second to none. We look forward to
leveraging our successful relationship with Sequans to develop a new wave of
devices for our 4G future."
Sequans TDD-LTE Leadership
Sequans is one of the early leaders in TDD-LTE chip technology and was one of
the first to provide China Mobile with working silicon for the launch of the
world's first TDD-LTE demonstration network in Shanghai in May of 2010. Sequans'
technology was approved by China's MIIT for use in China and was also used in
one of six major commercial trials China Mobile has deployed. Sequans' TDD-LTE
technology is operating in commercial networks in Brazil and Australia.
Clearwire LTE and Band Class 41
Clearwire's next-generation LTE Advanced-ready network will operate according to
the 3GPP Band 41 specification, which aligns to Clearwire's 2.6 GHz spectrum
frequency. Clearwire's LTE network is expected to be a major advancement over
the current LTE networks deployed in the U.S. because it will be designed to
provide far more broadband capacity than is possible with today's other 4G
networks. With more than 160MHz of spectrum available in the 100 largest markets
in the U.S., Clearwire's LTE Advanced-ready network should position the company
as the clear leader in 4G mobile broadband technology, capable of serving the
current and anticipated future demands of wholesale and retail customers.
Clearwire expects that multi-band, multi-mode TDD-LTE devices that can run on
its network and other networks will be commercially available in 2013.

I like other investors here would actually prefer as you allude to, that Sprint winds down their position of CLWR, so that CLWR isn't solely dependent on Sprint's performance. Any negative market outlook on Spring directly affects CLWR currently. CLWR may ultimately achieve a comparative advantage in the tech-comm market. Therefore, modestly distancing themselves from Spring in the long-term works well for both companies. CLWR's debt has weakened Spring slightly, although Spring has been making a hell of the comeback in the past few years. Sprint's recent issues with authorities regarding the tax debate has slightly affected CLWR. The main reason being that Sprint has been CLWR's white knight and the catalyst assisting CLWR to achieve profitability, gain in market share and ultimately as aforementioned dominance in their industry/sector with the amount and quality of spectrum they posses/control.
CLWR
We agree then that this only short/mid-term manipulation. Longs here are fine and I myself am not playing with pocket change here, I pumped a great deal of money into this stock.
CLWR
Companies always open or amend their issuance status to raise funds when needed, that is standard procedure for both Major Exchange as well as OTC, except in OTC there is usually an annual cap of $1M for micro/small caps.
Great TA!
CLWR
Longs with a significant position here understand that more funding would have been raised to cover debt so that it affords them the time needed to finish executing their business plan <4G Network>. Raising money to pay off debt is only reallocating assets and does not hurt the overall value. However, when they have fully established their LTE 4G network, they will be worth a multiple of where we trade at now. Keep in mind that during the conference they were very stern in not selling any of their spectrum because the spectrum is not only the best and most abundant in the industry but will also growth exponentially in value as the noose tightens around their competitors as a result of limited spectrum in the market. CLWR holds the key and soon that key will unlock the treasure we are seeking.
CLWR
If he were to have sold 1% of his shares he would have still made a sick profit.
TSNP
Not a bad close considering how much blood the market had on the streets today. I had not anticipated today to be so red, thought we would test $1.60 but next week should be a really good one for us here. Everyone, enjoy your weekend.
CLWR
Well CLWR is part of NASDAQ and that's been down harder than the other indexes all week. Down 2%+ right now. However, CLWR keeps holding strong on an up day this will run nicely. Also, once the big boys finish stealing cheap shares from retail, this will run hard and fast. Since they will like you to take a loss and then jump back in at a premium.
CLWR
I strongly agree!
CLWR
I'd say first resistance should be .0008 as with all 000's. As for me, I'm here for another 2 years and 3 months so I'm in no hurry and look forward to prices well above .001.
TSNP
Technicals slowly shifting on this one from a sell to buy. Just need to soak up all the weak hands and then this baby will start a 6 month rally.
CLWR
Just sitting back waiting for some word on the final conversion, so that this stock can light up. No private investor or trading group will bother to run a stock that has dilution. As soon as these financial sharks are out completely out of the balance sheet and stock we will see serious fireworks.
TSNP
I think we will test $1.60 tomorrow, today NASDAQ was down 1.2% and we closed slightly green. This is in consolidation mode, no one is looking to sell at these levels, so there is no such thing a profit taking right now. Credit Suisse didn't buy Google's shares at $2.26 when Google would have sold them at $1.61 if they didn't want to load the boat before a big run and this run I still predict is coming. I'd sit back and hold on tight.
CLWR
This stock is gearing to run on BEAST MODE!
CLWR
Today I read a blog of some sort about some shorter had his followers short CLWR in 2010 and then reiterated a short position. I'm thinking unless you shorted this at $6 or higher you have to now be suicidal to short this at these levels, lol. Once accumulation is done here this is going to spring up much faster than people think and don't for a second discount this stock's potential to test the 52wk high this year.
CLWR
LMAO, I thought it was only humorous to me but apparently others see eye to eye with me. On another note, CLWR holding up well considering how the market is bleeding.
CLWR
I'm not worried as I know where this is heading and I'm long and strong on this one.
CLWR
Come on, you know Ihub has very interesting characters lol.
