Always a good idea to make investment decisions based on emotions and the personal experiences of a couple of customers. ;)
Does the trade-in deal have an impact on AAPL's earnings?
If not - I'd stay long.
If the rumor is accurate; they are only removing
Touch ID from the OLED version. You can use the LCD version of the iPhone 8.
Predictions of AAPL's demise are plentiful and never correct.

"Don't listen to trolls, and for God's sake, don't become one."

Seems that the other *LED ticker is crashing hard, well on their way to being another CYBL.
So many fake companies selling nothing but hopes, dreams, and shares of worthless stock.
Perhaps the run of E*led had more to do with promotions on stock message sites and manipulation rather than the quality of their business or LED lighting in general. They lost a ton of money and have massive debt just like CYBL.
I'm afraid our only hope is some sort of buyout but I think the patents they hold are worthless or else they would have been bought by now.
Probably only going to be able to use the loss here to offset gains elsewhere.
Hope I'm wrong and CYBL awakes!
It is a mistake to think that Apple is simply a technology company.
They sell status symbols.
No teenager wants to brag to their friends about having the latest tech from China.
Apple has brand loyalty unlike any other company in the world.
The current run-up in pps is due to the fact AAPL was trading at a p/e far below the market average.
It has been undervalued for a long time.
Apple's P/E is at 17.5 compared to the S&P 500 at 24 or Alphabet which is at 32.
Seems like AAPL is still a great buy, not inflated at all.
Never been so glad to have been so wrong about prediction of an imminent sell-off.
New p/t of $202 from Drexel Hamilton - AAPL "among the most under-appreciated stocks in the world today"
Go Apple! Long & Strong
Trump Train is coming off the rails.
Market correction is imminent.
Will be good buying opportunity for AAPL.
You are correct that AAPL will set new record highs soon.
In fact it did so today.
Wall Street is vastly underestimating how many people are going to buy the next iPhone, analyst says
"This phone's going to be launching into an install base that's 50 percent bigger than the last big phone, the iPhone 6, launched into. So even if the upgrade rate is way lower, they're going to sell way more phones,"
"I think this still remains one of the most under-appreciated stocks in the world," White said. "I think what people are starting to understand is they were negative on Apple for all the wrong reasons."
Shares of Apple have already risen nearly 24 percent over the past 3 months. During the first quarter, Apple added over $140 billion to its market capitalization, more than the gains of the other 29 Dow components combined.

So the CIA intercepts packages of phones being shipped to overseas criminal organizations and infects them with spyware?
Good!
Unless you are a terrorist, drug dealer or a spy; there is not much to worry about.
The poster would like us to believe that all I-Phones are leaving the factory infected.
However a careful reading of the propaganda from Wiki states;
"it is likely that many CIA physical access attacks have infected the targeted organization's supply chain including by interdicting mail orders and other shipments (opening, infecting, and resending) leaving the United States or otherwise.
I believe the majority of AAPL's earnings come from sales to law abiding people and that they will continue to grow.
Todays action was all about the non-vote on the Healthcare bill.
I agree that the market is in need of a correction, and that AAPL may be a bit over priced at the moment.
However I don't believe it will be a gradual decline.
Once it becomes clear that most of the administration's campaign promises will not come true look for a massive sell off as the smart money rushes to lock in profits made from the neophytes who jumped in post-election.
Buy the rumor - Sell the news
Sorry for your loss. Based on today's 10-k it looks like Q4 was a bust; losing 0.67/share.
I'm glad the CEO quit but I doubt they will become profitable anytime soon.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Smartwatch Is Still Dominant Despite All the Doubt
“Demand for Apple’s new Watch Series 2 as a holiday-season gift in Western markets was surprisingly strong..."
According to Strategy Analytics, that translated to a record 5.2 million Apple Watch sales in the fourth quarter, up from 5.1 million the previous year.
"In addition,..., the company captured over 63% of all smartwatch sales."
"Second place Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) took a big hit over the holiday quarter, despite releasing a new model of its own, the Gear S3. Samsung’s holiday quarter marketshare dropped from 16% to 9.8%"

Big Picture Kiddo - 3 year return on AAPL is 75%
No stock chart is a straight line; there will always be times when it goes down - long term AAPL is a GROWTH stock.
Drop the attitude; come out of the darkness and open your mind.
Ba-ha-ha-ha kiddy
AAPL was at $95.60 one year ago - a growth of 33%
The price of AAPL stock has grown 20% in the last 3 months.
It is up 10% for the last month.
Seems like pretty good growth on an investment.
What technology does CYBL have that makes it prime to build grow lights?
What sort of production facilities does CYBL have?
Are there any companies that are profiting from Grow Lights?
Apple is back on top.
The company overtook Samsung as the world's top smartphone vendor in the final three months of 2016, according to Strategy Analytics. The iPhone maker captured 18 percent of the global market in the December quarter, said the firm.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said it will announce on Jan. 23 the results of a probe on what caused some Galaxy Note 7 smartphones to catch fire, as the firm seeks to recover from one of the biggest product safety failures in tech history.

That was an interesting article about LSCG when it was published 6 years ago. However it did not work out and now there are tons of shares outstanding so it is doubtful this will ever be a good investment. Hoping for a buyout of the patents. GL
Another example of AAPL's outstanding corporate ethics.
Leaders are held accountable.
"Apple Inc. said Chief Executive Tim Cook and other top leaders received less compensation in 2016 as the company missed its revenue and profit goals for the year."
And once you come to understand this fact you will then understand why AAPL is an excellent stock to own long term.
Wonder if this contributed to the reduced number of Sammy activations?
"Amazon mistakenly suspends Samsung sellers before holidays"
"In mid-November, just ahead of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday rush, a number of online sellers of Samsung phones, chargers, cables and TVs were booted from the e-commerce site because of apparently mistaken claims of infringement."
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/28/amazon-mistakenly-suspends-samsung-sellers-before-holidays.html
Market share does not matter. There will always be more Android devices. Profitability is what matters to investors. AAPL is the leader.
What do you consider to be Apple’s biggest differentiator, and what can employees do to foster and advance those efforts?
Tim Cook:
"Our greatest differentiator is our culture and our people. They are the foundation by which everything else comes about. Without great people and a great environment that people can live in, we wouldn’t have intellectual property. We wouldn’t have the best products. We wouldn’t have the inventions or features I mentioned earlier.
I think it’s that “change the world” attitude and boldness that’s deeply embedded in our culture, that “good isn’t good enough.” All of this is the fuel for everything else that we do"
Apple's statement on the ruling:
"Our case has always been about Samsung's blatant copying of our ideas, and that was never in dispute. We will continue to protect the years of hard work that has made iPhone the world's most innovative and beloved product. We remain optimistic that the lower courts will again send a powerful signal that stealing isn't right."
In 2012, a jury ruled that Samsung must pay Apple more than $1 billion for copying the various hardware and software features from the iPhone and iPad. A federal judge later reduced that penalty by $450 million.
Samsung asked the Supreme Court late last year to review $399 million of those damages related to several design patents ...
The court was not asked to weigh in on whether Samsung actually violated various Apple design patents. Instead, the court ruled it's possible a design patent only covers part of a product rather than all of it.
Translation: Just because a company's product copies one or two features from a competitor doesn't necessarily mean it has to forfeit all of that product's profits to its competitor. The case now goes back to a lower court where the two companies will once again take up the issue of how much Samsung should pay in damages for copying iPhone features.
In a statement, Apple said it is "optimistic that the lower courts will again send a powerful signal that stealing isn't right."
"Our case has always been about Samsung's blatant copying of our ideas, and that was never in dispute," it said.
Yea, that is just what the country needs is for the government to tell AAPL how to use their profits. Suddenly big government is the solution to all of our problems.
It is great that EFOI has had a long term relationship with the Navy; that is why I first invested in the stock. However the commercial version of Intellitube took a long time to develop and after seeing it in person and talking to their salesman it was obvious that it is not a true replacement for a fluorescent tube. That it only emits light out of one side instead of 360° around the tube is only one of it's many failings.
Energy Focus does not sell its products through Lighting Distributors - they claim this is meant to pass on savings to customers - but the result is that they never get the big contracts because the commercial lighting industry is controlled by the Lighting Reps. A very bad business decision by EFOI.
The board of directors is bloated with execs who get paid a lot and produce nothing.
The company frequently puts out press releases about joining coalitions and being on advisory panels to give the illusion they are successful and to try to create a bump in the stock price.
Energy Focus cares more about trying to manipulate their stock price than they do about making quality lighting products.
If you are making $$ on these wild swings - good for you. But I would not consider EFOI a good long term investment.
Who cares if AAPL does not sell as many smart phones as the competition; they make more money selling them than anyone else does.
"Apple is estimated to be making 103.6 percent of all the profits in the smartphone market. The seemingly-odd figure is a combination of the methodology and the financial bloodbath caused by the exploding Samsung Note 7.
The 103.6 percent is certainly a freak figure that’s almost certain to be a one-off, but it does show just how big the profit margin is on iPhones, particularly given that Android handsets are outselling iPhones by a ratio of more than seven-to-one."

AAPL investors take comfort in knowing that the company is led by people of great integrity and impeccable morals. Especially knowing that our top competitor is run by corrupt executives seeking political favors.
"South Korean prosecutors entered the offices of Samsung as they search for evidence the smartphone maker illegally provided gifts for a confidante of President Park Geun-hye that is at the center of an influence-peddling investigation."
Here is the link: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/money/samsung-drawn-into-korean-political-crisis-after-offices-raided/ar-AAk20EA?li=AA4Zoy&ocid=spartandhp
EFOI's products are crap. This will be the beginning of the end for them.
How much do "most people" receive in dividends? How do you know this? Why is it funny?
Looks like Apple is following Samsung for a change.
Sammy has had the Smartthings remote garage door opener on the market for a couple of years.
Seems like a great idea too, and very useful for visiting guests, service calls, working in the yard...

The theory that consumers won't switch from a Droid product to Apple because of the exploding battery problem is logical and reasonable.
However; that same theory would indicate that consumers were not switching from Apple to Samsung when they released the S6, Note 7 or whatever.
It is more likely that Samsung was taking market share from other Droid based phones.
Good for them but not something AAPL shareholders need to worry about.
Apple has the most loyal base of consumers in the world.
Who has ever camped out overnight to buy a Droid??
Claims of Samsung being "bigger" than Apple are false and meaningless. Apple is the most profitable corporation in the world.
Just another short that got burned...
Samsung issued an alert to customers on Monday, asking users to immediately turn off their Galaxy Note 7 smartphones-- which have been spontaneously catching fire.
The unprecedented move comes one day after Samsung halted production of the dangerously glitchy devices.

Sammy's struggles are Apple's gains.
