You're right. A friend set me straight earlier, basically stating that even if production itself doesn't increase it's the valuation of what's in the ground that matters... Whether it comes out of the ground or not, is another story. But also areas and wells need to be replaced constantly in libya and elsewhere as they dry up or run out of oil...and new holes need to be drilled!

Interesting read, thanks for the article. I'm a little surprised that OPEC would allow oil prices to reach $120 per barrel before allow an increase in production. So if Axis gets permission to drill, and while that will increase the stock price, we won't see the full benefit of our stock purchase until production starts. Which according to the article is a couple of years away.

I'm not overly surprised, but it's a rather broad answer to an important question. Is this a short, mid or long term answer. A follow up question is needed here.

Prices have stabilized, so it seems that anyone who wanted to bail already did. I'd be surprised if we had anymore wild fluctuations downward.

Which will hold out longer, Richard Smith's liver or Axis??? ;)
