I think it was referring to the very beginning of MySpace, even better though because we all saw it explode then! It is a great strategy that's been proven to work :)
A little something I read in an article, seems relevant :)
"Word of Mouth
To get the word out, MySpace held a company-wide contest to see who could sign up the most friends. Emails started to go out of the eUniverse offices in Los Angeles, and in a hyper-connected world, the invitations snowballed worldwide. Millions of frustrated Friendster.com users quickly jumped ship and in the process formed the largest online social network. The winner of the contest received $1,000. Not a bad investment, considering MySpace was bought for $580 million two years later."
Now, who was saying word of mouth marketing doesn't work??
you sure did call it, and that was a company in a field where there was a TON of competition. Do we even have a competitor now?? I know we have a way stronger group of leaders in charge and a great marketing director. I don't understand how people can see anything but success here!
15sof's facebook page has gained about 20 "likes" today alone and some people asking about the contests directly on their page. No interest you say?
Having a model on board can never hurt! I wonder if some will see this as one of those things that just happen with no pre planning?
You ask the question now but 15sof probably asked and answered it long ago. They are not going to put this kind of offer out there without having all questions answered and a plan in place. How could they pay their marketing manager and get these things rolling without a marketing budget and strategy???
I have seen it both as Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Customer Officer. Great video though, I really think the college idea will take off and be a big help
That's awesome! My work blocked frequency's site for "Video/Audio Clips" which says to me it's a well enough known site! Gotta keep me productive here :( lol
I think everyone is on the same page that it is not "huge" yet. It is a social media startup that has taken huge strides though and IS getting bigger. And I'm not saying it will shoot up or shoot down and I could really care less about the sudden spikes. Again, most of us are on the same page here in knowing that it has a ton of potential and a lot of talented leaders that have impressed in the past and are still in the vital stage of setting up impressive deals for this company in the here and now.
lol we'll see! Hopefully they are making some changes, the site doesn't look bad but there are a few glitches still. I don't think they would be doing it just for the hell of it though, has got to have somthing to do with some kind of integration imo.
After asking the 15 SoF marketing director about the survey that was sent out about the site and how it looks, best features, improvement suggestions, etc. and why I recieved it while others did not, I recieved this reply
"The survey was only sent to a small sample of 15 SOF members."
So 15 SoF is wanting to get information from people for some reason. They have got to be refreshing the look of the page or some of the contests. IMO
just doing a little reading on JB the Chief Marketing Officer of 15 SoF
With ScorecardUSA, which raised more than $4 million in VC investment, he built a community of more than 500,000 amateur athletes in a matter of months, at a fraction of the cost of his competitors.
Yeah they are not saying much publicly right now but can you argue that this guy doesn't know his stuff? I don't think so!
if that's the case then I should have filled it out better! I emailed him back asking who all recieved it. we'll see if I get an answer or not
Hmmm, maybe I will reply to JB and see if I can squeeze any answers out. Long shot but I've been lucky in the past so we'll see!
I wonder if anyone else got the same survey?? No one that I talked to yet has. Very interesting. I'm eager to see if any results or changes come from the survey.
JB, the CMO at 15sof, sent out an email, not sure if everyone got it or what. They have created a pretty extensive survey about how the site looks, what could be better, what I like, contest questions, etc. Seems like they are ready to revamp the website and want to know what the masses want! Here is the email--

That's painfully obvious
only $220 million for me :( lol
we're up 50% today right? looks like the right path to me!
Wow man that sounds pretty awesome. will you show me please? I will be first in line to buy your how to book too ;)
Alexa does show us that we have a lot of users and viewers. Don't you think advertisers that are going to pay 15sof want to know about those numbers? I'm sure they can get them from a more official source than alexa but at least it lets us know. visitors/users= advertisers, advertisers= money, money= eventually PPS climb. there is a TON of potential here
This brings up one of my favorite topics. WHY in the world would someone give them $150,000 without being convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will make that $150,000 work for them and the investor would see a return?? There had to be some excellent reasons. I wouldn't give someone $10 to go do something stupid with that I didn't think would make a return. And if there is that one person convinced to give $150 grand then I'd bet ya there are more. Obviously speculation but there's a little common sense sprinkled in there. What do you think about the $150k that they received? Do you think it was just someone giving it away?
I'd bet they do have money! There are ads on their website and tons of users. Gotta be some money in that!
Absolutley, the forward looking statements are their intentions and plans. Since these are, many times, cash strapped companies it might cost more than they have to get it all done. That doesn't make it a lie, I'd rather them have these forward ideas than sit back saying "nah we probably can't afford that so lets not even try" then we'd REALLY be hearing nothing and the company would be going NOWHERE! I like their forward looking statements and not filling us full of a bunch of BS.
Ok that's old news that's not even relevant to the company we have now
aww man I was getting used to being special. Had to take it away! lol
Almost certainly does sound good!
I don't have a website, blog or promote 15sof outside of commenting on some of their FB posts. I didn't "like" them just to sit in the background doing nothing. I actually SHOULD be more active on their site and FB page cause any one person can make a difference in this stage of a company's development. Is your name Tab on FB? They might have seen that name somewhere around (like this board where we know an employee has said they watch and read) and associate it with a non supportive person. So, see, being supportive of a company can move mountains and get you what you want.
Well maybe they opened it up to accept more devices, check out what I was just told. See they DO answer investors.

I just spoke with the marketing dept. at 15sof and I asked if there was a change to the website that now allows users to upload from mobile devices. their exact words were
"Now you can upload pics & videos from www.15sof.com straight from your I Phone, Blackberry or Smart Phone device"Sounds like it was indeed a change to their page which is great news since a lot more people are now using mobile devices rather than their laptop or desktop computers. Opens a whole new option for a lot of people.
Not all websites are mobile browser enabled. I'm not sure if 15sof.com worked on a mobile browser before she posted that or not. Does anyone know? If it wasn't compatible before then this is still a pretty big deal.
Do you want them wasting time and resources that cost money on every joe blow that approaches them demanding answers? I have had conversations with people that work at 15sof and information has come around like that. And keeping your ears and eyes open will let you see and hear a lot. We should be pretty sure that the mobile app is on it's way since we have seen it USED by an employee, no they didn't tell us directly or through official capacities but we still have an educated guess of the information. let me phrase it for ya... "in the weeks to come we will be seeing the release of the 15sof mobile application (IMO)"
Things are quite for the time being. They did say that 2012 was the breakout year though. I can't see that being said without a firm plan being in place. I am pretty confident that we are going to see some big news coming out soon. There has already been a mobile app sneak peak on Facebook by 15sof's marketing manager so that's obviously nearing an official release. I bet they have a whole line up of news coming to keep us fat and happy all year.
you meet Fred in AC?? Sounds like a shady dude to me!
http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com/ lol
Where were you when it was feeling gooood?? I don't see any long term damage here. We're all good buddy!
what past history? have they consistently not delivered before? and don't count the old GRDO
Maybe PK didn't come to STT begging to have an interview but STT came to him requesting one. Should he have said "No, I'm too big for blog radio. Look at my rolodex!" Also, it is still a penny stock, the interview would have been at the appropriate level of media outlet. That's what STT does, talks about penny stocks! And they do it well, I'm sure they have a pretty large following.
Interview is postponed, meaning it's coming. Like someone else brought up earlier it could have been postponed due to a personal issue or something like that. Everyone wants to jump to the worst conclusions that they can think of for no reason.
no interview? what do you mean? It's just postponed... that isn't cancelled.
postpone |post'pon| verb
cause or arrange for (something) to take place at a time later than that first scheduled
in case people were confused...
have you been following what has been going on? The CEO is giving a public interview on Feb 22nd and that has created quite the buzz. no pumping or fake buzz here bud! check out the stickies and listen to the interview next week!
the biz model is a little more hip than ID Theft ;) Thanks, I've been around, don't post much though!
